Three Key Ways to Reignite Teachers' Love of Teaching: Autonomy and Creativity: Teachers need the freedom to design meaningful and engaging projects that are tailored to their students' needs. Following a rigid scope and sequence can stifle creativity and excitement. PBL provides opportunities for both teachers and learners to have autonomy. Building Relationships: Focus on both student-teacher and teacher-teacher connections. Teachers want to connect with their students on a personal level beyond just the curriculum. Creating opportunities for teachers to collaborate and connect with their peers is crucial. Relevance and Purpose: Teachers need to feel that their work is meaningful and connected to real-world problems. PBL can provide this sense of relevance and purpose. When students are engaged, teachers are also more likely to be engaged and feel fulfilled. Practical Steps Administrators Can Take Immediately: Start with small wins. Redesign faculty meetings to be more collaborative and to celebrate successes. Use faculty meetings to build relationships between teachers. Consider starting a student voice group to gather feedback. Identify what "fills the bucket" for teachers: Find out what activities or actions bring joy to individual teachers and implement them. It may vary by grade level or content area. Something as simple as a positive note can mean a lot to teachers. Encourage teachers to try new student-centered strategies: Provide opportunities for teachers to share what they have tried. Create a culture of collaboration and shared learning. Build a positive culture in the school to reduce teacher turnover. When teachers are excited to be there, it creates a positive current. Call to Action: Challenge teachers to reflect on one small change they can make to bring joy back into their teaching. Recognize that joy is an important part of the educational process, along with standardized tests and learning outcomes. Season 7 Episode 7: In this episode, Pete Codella, managing director of business services at the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, talks with Adrienne Woolley, program manager for the Park City Center for Advanced Professional Studies (PCCAPS). Woolley discusses her PCCAPS career managing a project-based learning initiative for high school juniors and seniors. The network, the first of its kind in Utah, offers hands-on experience in fields such as business, digital design, and physical therapy. By exploring career paths early, students build confidence, develop real-world skills, and gain a competitive edge before pursuing higher education. Woolley emphasizes the program's strong industry partnerships, including collaborations with local businesses, healthcare providers, and government entities, to provide students with real-world learning opportunities.  Woolley highlights student-led projects in hospitality, engineering, and design, such as developing a ski-in, ski-out food venue, designing parking garage charging stations, and creating a ski locker amenity. CMC Squared Coaching Model Green's CMC Squared model (Communication, Model, Monitor, Celebrate or Correct) provides a framework for successful implementation of initiatives. Retreats and Team Building: Host retreats and team-building activities to foster collaboration and build relationships. I've worked in both a retainer model vs. project-based clients, and I have plenty of thoughts to share—lessons I've learned, pros and cons, and what's currently working for me. Let's get into it!

Can't Judge An Entrepreneur By The Cover 11/17/18. Something struck me recently about the changing ideas of what makes one an entrepreneur, hustler, influencer, business leader, etc.... There is no "set" type of person. Old, young, male, female, suit-and-tie or jeans and a t-shirt types. All types of people are pursuing their careers or other passions while trying to find ways to make it all work. That's the common bond - making your "thing" work because that's what you want to do with your life. Career, Side-Hustle or Hobby - Levels of Entrepreneurship 1/12/19. I run through the levels of entrepreneurship: Side Hustle, Project Based, Outside Interest, Second Career and Hobby. Each has its own set of rules, expectations, and return on investment (or lack thereof). If your full-time/part-time J-O-B isn't enough, there are a few options. There are many options for "being your own boss" with levels of risk, freedom, and fringe benefits. Let's talk about it.
