In this week's episode When You're In A Rut, I wanted to get really real with all of you. As I have found myself in a rut since Christmas, I thought right now might actually be the best time to record an episode on: how to help ourselves get through being in a rut. I have 10 tips that I share with you today. Run to Rest, Not Avoid: The importance of intentional rest rather than using it as a means to avoid tasks. Don't Compare: Don't compare oneself to others, as people often don't show their struggles. Don't Judge the Rut: Accept your current state without self-judgment. Balance Patterns with Novelty: Highlights the significance of introducing novelty into daily routines. Talk to Someone: The value of vulnerable and honest with others. Zoom Out: Encourage you to view the bigger picture beyond the immediate challenges. Get Present: Advise against dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Save Big Questions for Later: Suggest postponing major decisions or projects until in a better mental state. Set Minimum Goals: Recommend setting achievable daily goals to maintain a sense of accomplishment. Be Patient and Compassionate: Urge patience and self-compassion, emphasizing that ruts are temporary. When you find yourself in a rut, please be kind to yourself and maybe try implementing one of my strategies for helping yourself through being in a rut. I've been hearing a lot lately that women are feeling like they are stuck in a rut. Maybe that's you, maybe that's someone you know and love and I'm here to tell you that it is normal to sometimes feel like you're in a rut ESPECIALLY in the winter months. Today, I'm going to give you my top tips to get UNSTUCK and how you can use this season of LENT to do that. I have found that even those who do not necessarily ‘affiliate with a religion' will give something up for lent. If you don't know, beginning on Ash Wednesday which is today, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Resurrection Day (aka Easter). By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. Many will abstain from social media, alcohol, sugar, etc…so….let's tackle what this may look like for you.

In helping you get in touch with your more playful, creative self, it not only helps you on a path toward greater happiness and fulfillment, but it also helps you to feel more fulfilled as a parent.” - Mom/Librarian “The words: imagination, play, and fun are not the usual things we as mothers think of when wondering how to get a grip back on our career and I believe it provides a really fresh take and lots of food for thought for mothers reading it. Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases IN A RUT and IN A RUSHIn this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase, in a rut. When you describe your life, and if you use the phrase, I feel like I'm in a rut, it means that you're doing the same thing every day, and it's not that exciting anymore. Maybe your job makes you feel like you're in a rut. You get up every morning, you have breakfast, you go to work, you do the same thing all day, and you come home, and then you do the same thing the next day. You feel like you're in a rut. Sometimes we use this phrase to talk about relationships. Maybe you're dating someone, and you kind of like them, but you're not sure if the relationship is going anywhere, and you just kind of see each other every weekend, and there's no spark. You might feel like you're in a rut. The second phrase I wanted to teach you today, I think someone drove in, and the dogs are barking.WANT FREE ENGLISH LESSONS? GO TO YOUTUBE AND SEARCH, "BOB THE CANADIAN"If you enjoy these lessons please consider supporting me at: http://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadianThe second phrase I wanted to teach you today is the phrase, in a rush. When you are in a rush, it means that you are in a hurry. It means that you're probably late. You need to be somewhere on time, and you're running behind, and you're just trying to get in your vehicle to go. You are in a rush. It just means that you are in a hurry. So to review, when you are in a rut, it means that you feel like you're doing the same thing every day, and it's not super enjoyable. And when you are in a rush, it means that you are in a hurry. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. Let me see if I can find this here. This comment is from Yaroslaw, and we have, "One question comes to my mind. I know that in our part of the world, it is not common to gift an even quantity of flowers. So it should be an odd quantity, so it should be an odd quantity in bouquets. How about Canada? I know in the UK, it doesn't matter. By the way, your beard and mustache are very cool. Ha, my parents and relatives always insist on shaving mine, but I am continuing to struggle with them."And then my response is this. "Thanks for the kind words about my beard and mustache. I think it's my preferred look right now." This is my preferred look. "The most common amount of a single flower to buy is usually a dozen here, like a dozen roses. Although, when we make mixed bouquets with all different flowers in them, we usually make them with an odd number, because it just looks better."Isn't that interesting? When you make bouquets, if you put an even number, like if you put eight or 10 flowers in it, doesn't look as good as it would if you put, sorry, I'm trying to walk through the sunflowers here. It doesn't look as good as it would if you put nine or 11 in. I'm trying not to step on the flowers while I walk out here.So yes, when you buy a single, by the way, thanks Yaroslaw for that comment. When you buy a single kind of flower, usually, you will buy a dozen, a dozen zinnias for instance, or a dozen sunflowers. Sometimes people will buy half a dozen, but when people buy a mixed bouquet, usually when we design it, we try to put an odd number in, just looks better. So we put in 15, or we put in 11. It just makes a nicer bouquet. I think there's a better balance. And we usually try to put three of each kind of flower.Support the show

#54 - We all eventually find ourselves in one....a rut. One day, we wake up and find that our running has become a chore instead of fun. In this week's episode, I give many ideas how to switch it up and make it enjoyable. The cold weather of winter doesn't help either, so I take that into consideration. "What's the point in setting goals? I never hit them anyways..." I said that to myself every month for 5 years. I'd either set a goal, look at it, and then think it was silly to even try OR I'd freeze in fear after I set the goal and not know why. I got to a point where I was so sick of tired of never hitting my goals that I didn't even set goals for myself because deep down, I didn't believe that I could achieve them.I finally had a MASSIVE breakthrough because I started setting goals in a way that actually excited me... It's WAY different than you might think. https://www.bradbizjack.com/blog/smartgoals
