368: How To Create A Positive Mindset (Even If You Have A Negative Outlook Right Now) w/ Dr. Sue Varma

There is power in having a positive mindset, even if you have a negative perspective right now.No, I'm not talking about toxic positivity, which encourages people to always look on the bright side (often ignoring or glossing over loss, pain, grief, etc.).I'm talking about practical optimism, a concept I learned about from the book Practical Optimism by Dr. Sue Varma.Practical optimism is a way to change your mindset that holds space for negative feelings and experiences, while equipping you with skills to deal with what you are facing and even possibly turn your challenges into opportunities. This may seem impossible, especially if you are dealing with mental health challenges as a result of debilitating chronic skin rashes. But I encourage you to give this episode a listen with an open mind!Joining me to discuss this concept and how to develop a positive mindset is Dr. Sue Varma who is a distinguished psychiatrist and cognitive behavioral therapist based in New York City. With over two decades of private practice experience, she has made significant contributions to the field of mental health, including serving as the pioneering Medical Director and Psychiatrist for the esteemed 9/11 mental health program at NYU for which she was awarded the Mayoral Proclamation. She's also the author of the book Practical Optimism: The Art, Science, and Practice of Exceptional Well-Being.In This Episode:The devastating situation where Dr. Varma discovered optimismAre optimism and a positive mindset genetic?Toxic positivity practical optimismPessimism vs skepticism: what's the difference?Which personality type are you?The eight pillars of practical optimismHow to change your mindset even if you feel like you are “broken”How to know if you're emotionally dysregulatedBenefits of committing to therapyQuotes“A lot of times people dismiss optimism as a variety of things. It's woo-woo thinking, it's pollyannaish, it's very naive, it's toxic positivity, or it's something you're either born with or not. So why do we bother studying it? And what I found instead was that optimism, yes, there is a genetic component, but the reality is that only 25% of it is genetic. Seventy-five percent of it is learned.”“Practical optimism…says, ‘I invite space for your loss and your grief, but I'm also going to equip you with skills that will help you deal with what you're facing right now, but also in the future, and help you prevent some of the bad things that might be coming your way.'”LinksFind Dr. Varma online | InstagramGet Dr. Varma's book Practical Optimism HERE!Healthy Skin Show ep. 131: Mindset: What To Do When Nothing Seems To Help Your RashesHealthy Skin Show ep. 361: How To Change Your Mindset (So Your Skin Doesn't Control Your Mood) w/ Brad Bizjack

Thinking about how to change your mindset might bring on eye rolls, but shifting how you view your annoying (or debilitating) symptoms can have a huge impact on your quality of life.No one is spared from things in life that cause suffering. And yes, living with chronic skin problems, including Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), can seriously damage your confidence and self-worth.I've often heard from clients that how their day will go is dictated by what their skin will decide to do. And while I understand the challenge inherent to the unpredictability of your skin, allowing external factors like your skin to have such enormous control over your mindset and daily experience sets you up for failure. And with time, you likely will start to feel victimized by your skin (and other symptoms) and rather powerless.Joining me to discuss mindset growth, healthier emotional habits, and more is Brad Bizjack. Brad is a personal development expert and a master mindset strategist who has a decade of experience in igniting human potential. His mission is to awaken individuals to their limitless possibilities and empower them to create the extraordinary success and freedom they deserve no matter their circumstances or health. After working with 60,000 people, Brad is renowned for his ability to shatter mediocrity and inspire profound, lasting change. He excels in uncovering the limiting beliefs and toxic thoughts that lurk in the shadows of the mind, unlocking the doors to unprecedented achievement and fulfillment. In This Episode:Stories you tell yourself that DESTROY your mindset growthWhat exactly is mindset? How to change your mindset (that's more effective)When you allow your skin to dictate how you feelStrategies to create an open mindset aligned with healingThe formula for happinessQuotes“You've had worthiness since the moment you were born. No skin condition, no amount of results, no success, no anything will ever make you more worthy than you already are. Never. And if you think that for some reason the way your skin looks makes you a better or worse person, or more enough or less enough, you're giving your personal power away to something that should not be dictating how you live your life.”“There are gifts in every bit of negativity you could ever experience, because contrast creates clarity.”LinksFind Brad Bizjack online | InstagramJOIN ME → Sign up for the Success Accelerator challengeHealthy Skin Show ep. 131: Mindset: What To Do When Nothing Seems To Help Your Rashes

If you haven't yet listened to that episode you have missed out. Just gonna say it. He's got some quotables (inaudible) talk about in a second.Brad Crowell 1:06  Couple of great nuggets. There was even a point where you said rewind that.Lesley Logan 1:10  I did. I did say rewind that. You know, I'm starting to do that, because people maybe like, oh so good. And if I say rewind, they'll be like, oh, I can do that. (inaudible) Everyone knows how to use technology. And also, you guys, I know, I think I said in our interview, but Nick and I had an amazing conversation on his podcast at Hitstreak, and that episode has been out for over a month. Just the content alone is still getting likes and shares like thousands. So just saying, I was pretty amazing too. But really, he has great questions, and he has a great podcast. You'll want to listen to the Hitstreak. Okay. Today is August 29th 2024 and it's More Herbs Less Salt Day. Enjoy More Herbs Less Salt Day on August 29th by reassessing your sodium intake. We understand that maintaining a balanced, healthy diet is easier said than done, especially since the flavor suffers the most. But healthy eating is no longer bland and boring. Spices and aromatic herbs are a great way to reduce salt in meals and amp up the taste. Your taste buds won't know what they're missing and your body will be grateful. I fucking love a salt lick. So I'm just gonna say right now, like, I'm gonna fail on this day.Brad Crowell 2:13  I put this in here on purpose because Lesley is always like, did you add salt? Did you add salt? Did you add more salt? Can you just add some more?Lesley Logan 2:19  I love. I love salt. You guys, I swear to God, I need a salt lick.Brad Crowell 2:24  Well, we also live in Vegas, and we sweat a lot and you know.Lesley Logan 2:26  Yes. And also, I had tests down where they're like, you could add more salt.Brad Crowell 2:31  Really? Lesley Logan 2:31  Yes. Chris Talley was like, you can eat more salt. I'm ike, tortilla chips with salt. He's like, add salt to the salsa. Yeah, no problem. So anyways, like, just in general, I need more. I think, as I do work out as much as I do, and we do live in Vegas, I'm just sweating. At any rate, there are some great herbs out there, and if you work with Femgevity, you will find out your food sensitivities. Because, hi. Brad Crowell 2:54  Femgevity.Lesley Logan 2:55  Femgevity. Because, like I do, you should use our link—beitpod.com/femgevity—it's spelled like, how you think. Did we find that? Is it basil that I can't have? What's on the list? There was some (inaudible).Brad Crowell 3:06  Basil is on the list I think that you're, well, you're.Lesley Logan 3:09  We love basil. Brad Crowell 3:10  You have a mild, a mild.Lesley Logan 3:11  It's a mild sensitivity.Brad Crowell 3:12  Sensitivity to basil. Lesley Logan 3:14  It's, yeah. And then there was a moderate one that was kind of a bummer as well. We'll have to look at it. (inaudible) It's on the list on the refrigerator, guys. I clearly don't cook, he does and we have a list on the fridge. Brad Crowell 3:24  Well, here's what's super cool. For Cyber Monday, Black Friday, whatever deal one year I got one of those, grow it in your kitchen, little garden situation how in the house, on the counter. And I was like, oh, this is so annoying, because once the thing grows and dies, I gotta buy a whole new pod from them. Well, they're only 10 bucks or 12 bucks for like, six pods. I was like, oh, okay, it's not the end of the world.Lesley Logan 3:50  No, it's way less than buying the herbs that go bad in your fridge. Brad Crowell 3:53  Way less than buying the herbs that go bad in your fridge, way.Lesley Logan 3:57  And the plastic around those herbs.Brad Crowell 4:01  Is the worst, just so much waste. Anyway, what's so fun about that, though, is you could have fresh herbs in your kitchen, just be where basil does take over, and so does mint. Mint takes over. Lesley Logan 4:12  Also, like. Brad Crowell 4:13  No, the mint. Lesley Logan 4:13  Was it the mint? I swear it was a dill, because the dill went first. And I was like, first. It did die first, but we also it grew so fast I'm like, what do I use dill on besides a deviled egg? We're gonna make a pickle. What's happening here? Brad Crowell 4:25  It grew and then it got choked out. Lesley Logan 4:27  But we highly recommend herbs. So if, so, first of all, make sure that you are eating ones that are awesome with your body and your body wants. And second, grow your own because it's better for the environment and for your wallet. Okay, upcoming events and travel. We talked about this before, but if you are a Pilates instructor, my mentorship for 2025 applications are open. How many spots are left? I don't know, we're recording this in advance. So there might be none, but there might be some. And also we can talk about 2026, should it be full? So go to lesleylogan.co/elevate. This is for teachers who are looking for someone to help them connect deeper to the method and really up-level their teaching, their practice, especially their practice, and their connection to the method. It is really a lot of fun. Not only can help build confidence if something you're lacking, but also can actually just really empower you to see what's in front of you and teach the body in front of you. And it just feels freaking awesome when you do that, you change more lives. All right, but before we get into it with Mr. Nick Hiter, we did have an audience question, and today's was from YouTube. Melissa dash A-X-H-I-L-I-1-L-I whatever it's a lot, we're just gonna say Melissa. Melissa asked Lesley, where did you get your Pilates certification? Lesley Logan 8:04  So this is a really good question. I've been trying to think about, like, what do I want to say? Because if you're asking because you want to go train there, like, my first training program is in some place that I recommend people. So I'm not going to say it, because I don't want to discuss why I wouldn't recommend it. It was a great program. Brad Crowell 8:05  It was 600 hours. Lesley Logan 8:16  It was 600 hours. Brad Crowell 8:20  Certification only. Lesley Logan 8:21  No. Brad Crowell 8:22  No, it's comprehensive.Lesley Logan 8:22  I had a full comprehensive. And I will say, so the thing is, they don't do the training program that I did before. Now they let you do it modulated. So what I experienced wasn't the most amazing experience, but the setup was really successful because they did make me learn how to teach a beginner and an intermediate client at the same time on two different pieces of equipment, which is why I can just teach chaos and I'm safe with that, right? So I did appreciate that, but it left me feeling like I had memorized a lot but didn't know a lot. And so that's where I'll say the second training that I did, which was the Pilates Center out of Boulder Colorado, with Rachel Taylor Segel and Amy Taylor Alpers and their amazing crew. And I do recommend their program to people because it's around the world, and they have host studios everywhere, and they have virtual options. I also do, (inaudible) I do also recommend Equinox's program if you have access to them. It's very robust. They actually have a really great hybrid model of super, super super supportive help, and then also virtual options for comprehensive but that, so the Pilates Center in Boulder was the actual one that I did as my second one. I did their master's program, which was over three years, and that was several 100 more hours, and I was basically living.Brad Crowell 8:28  You were in and out of Boulder all the time. Lesley Logan 9:26  I was in and out of Boulder so much. Brad Crowell 9:37  I was like, what is this Pilates thing and why are they going to Boulder all the time?Lesley Logan 9:40  All the time, like every two weeks I was there.Brad Crowell 9:42  Are you with a cult? Why do you continue to go there?Lesley Logan 9:45  I know. And it was.Brad Crowell 9:46  That's when we first met, y'all. Lesley Logan 9:47  Super fun. Whole Foods and I were best friends every single day. I think at Mod Market, I think was where I had lunch. At any rate. So that was really helpful, because they helped me get rid of trying to correct people all the time. And I actually watched bodies a little bit more, but I still don't know what that meant and I don't really know what I was doing. And then I realized that I lived down the street from Vintage and Jay Grimes studio and Sandy Shimoda and Karen Frischmann, and so I actually studied with them, and all the things I've been looking for all in one place. It gave me a lot of confidence to just like, really enjoy the process and really enjoy what Joseph Pilates created for us. And here's what I'm gonna say, no first program is ever gonna get you what my third program got me like, it's just not possible. It's not a thing. So for those of you who are like looking to become a teacher, grab my book and then find the best program that is accessible to you, that sets you up for the most success, meaning you can teach.Brad Crowell 10:40  Her book is called Profitable Pilates: Everything But the Exercises. And the beginning part of it helps you choose a teacher training program that is going to help you get to where you want to go. So it explains where you could potentially go, and then works backwards from there. It's really great resource.Lesley Logan 10:56  Yeah. And then you'll come take my mentorship when you're ready. And the thing is, is that Jay will always sayBrad Crowell 11:01  The mentorship is for people who are already certified. Right? So first you're gonna go get certified through any of the myriad of training programs, teacher training programs that are out there. After you've gotten your certification, then you can come and do eLevate. Lesley Logan 11:14  Read my book, because I explain, like, what to be really looking for. Because if you take a mat training, then you want to take my mentorship, that doesn't, that doesn't work. If you just do a Reformer, there's you do have to be trained on multiple pieces of equipment, but to put pressure on your first training program to be everything for you isn't fair to you, nor them. However, there are some shitty ones out there, so be careful and read my book and it will explain like, what to look out for. And then here's the thing, Jay would always say, like, you're not really a teacher until you've been teaching for five years, and people can take a lot of offense to that. Of course, if you've only been teaching three years, I'm a teacher. I have full classes. I get that perspective. I have to say, there's also just a lot of confidence that comes with time and with allowing yourself to be curious. And when you've been teaching for five years, you really have kind of seen a lot of things, and you've realized, like, what's important, what's not important, and hopefully you're progressing people at a better pace than you did when you were beginning. But it's, a second training program is probably in your future for most teachers, because you don't, you're not learning how to say words and understand things, so just know that and give yourself permission to not have gotten it all out of the first program because it's hard to get all that out of any first programs. Brad Crowell 12:29  True. Yeah. Well, that's a great question. Melissa, thank you so much for asking. If you have a question, hit us up. You can text us at 310-905-5534, or you can hit us up on the gram or on YouTube or through our customer support anywhere you want. And I'm sure it'll work its way back here to the pod, and you'll be pleasantly surprised when your question surfaces over here. So thanks for that. Stick around, because we're about to dive in to this conversation with Nick Hiter. Brad Crowell 12:59  All right. Now, let's talk about Mr. Nick Hiter, former pro athlete, Nick Hiter is a dedicated husband and father, deeply rooted in his faith. As a seasoned entrepreneur, he co-owns agency, runs a merchant processing company and operates a set of studios and a creative agency in Tennessee. That sounds like a lot. Nick is also involved in digital marketing and manages various affiliate partnerships. Additionally, Nick is the host of the Hitstreak podcast and the voice of a SiriusXM radio station. So he keeps himself, clearly, quite busy, but he obviously has also surrounded himself with quite a team. Lesley Logan 13:36  Yeah, his team is amazing.Brad Crowell 13:36  We had a chance to meet that team, some of that team in person when we were in Nashville I don't remember a couple months back. They were super professional and had everything ready to go. I wasn't even involved in the interview, but they even made me feel like I was a guest on the show, and it was just really awesome. So a big shout out to the guys over there that we had a chance to work with and also Nick for putting together a really great crew, so. Brad Crowell 13:36  I'm gonna jump in. Brad Crowell 13:47  Do it. Lesley Logan 13:49  But I want to just preface like, about to say something that's gonna make somebody go, oh, this episode's not for me. What I'm gonna say after this applies to everything. Okay, see your own shit in the story. Brad Crowell 14:13  See your own shit. Lesley Logan 14:15  Sure. Nick is like, yes, thanks for saying see your own shit. When it comes to my like, like, I don't think he cusses at all. He mentioned digital marketing is massive. He said many people don't do social media, but then blame the algorithm. He talked about like, it's the algorithm you're blaming. He says you have to take ownership of things, because it's the only way you can fix it. And when we place blame on things, we give someone else ownership, and that means you've removed yourself from being part of the solution. So this goes for everything. When you blame other people or other things for why you didn't get something done Brad Crowell 14:46  Or you're not getting clients, or you're not finding teachers, or Lesley Logan 14:51  You've removed yourself from the solution, and there's, I don't even know how you get the solution solved. So I agree. I actually don't ever focus on the algorithm. I don't really care. I just like, let me experiment. What can I put out? And let's see how it lands. And some of the things I'll do really, really well don't do well at all. And some of the things I'm like, this is nothing, a nothing thing, they do really, really well. So here's the thing, social media is actually not about quality, it's about quantity, which is the opposite of Pilates. But also Brad Bizjack was someone who said, we have the ability to be responsible for things. Brad Crowell 14:51  Is that the Brad he kept referencing? Lesley Logan 14:56  I don't know. Brad Crowell 15:21  Because he referenced Brad multiple times. And I was like, did I say something?Lesley Logan 15:31  Yeah, and I wonder if it's Brad Bizjack, because we'll have to ask him, I don't know. But like, people get pissed off when Brad Bizjack would say, like, the things that happened to you you're responsible for, because we have the ability to respond and it allows you to not be a victim of a situation, and allows you to take ownership and lead the change of what you want to see. So I think that goes for social media, but also for anything you want to do. Brad Crowell 15:53  Well, in this case, what he was talking about was the insurance business. So previous to insurance, he and his partner, I want to, I imagine it was his wife, had they were in the clubs, they were promoting, right? So they had a promoting company, and promoting was all about the hustle, connecting, getting in there, meeting people, socializing, and so they were all over the social media game, because they needed to. If you didn't play that game, you did not succeed in the world of promoting. And then when they started their insurance company, they just transitioned that momentum over to doing insurance. And he said it created a massive leg up for them, because at the time, no one else was doing social media in the insurance game. And they slayed, right? And it really set them up to create that foundation. But all that rolls into what I want to talk about, which was he talked about your personal brand, and it being your reputation online. He said he started off as a pro athlete, and it allowed him to get his foot in the door at a lot of different places because of his reputation. But just because he was a pro athlete didn't mean he had an online personal brand. He said, once he they had established the online brand for himself, for Nick Hiter and then was consistently delivering quality content and creating an audience around it, he said at this point, we could launch any business we want and we could leverage the personal brand and roll it into whatever business we wanted to.Lesley Logan 17:20  JLo has gyms, guys, you know that? She's got gyms, like, what's her name? Goldie Hawn's daughter, she's got clothing. She's got making music. Once you have this reputation, people know and trust, they'll follow anything that you're going to do. Brad Crowell 17:34  Yeah, and we tell all of our clients with agency, hey, focus on one thing first. So if you're going to open a Pilates studio, don't also open a yoga studio and a gym and a thing and a whatever, unless you're happening to roll them all into one and they're marketing it as that one thing. But you have to build that foundation first of the one thing, and then from there, once you've created that notoriety, once you've built that trust, then you can, like, introduce speaking gigs or workshop gigs or other things, or start a podcast or do other things. Speaker 1 18:04  I know we meet people all the time, like, I want to have my on-demand membership. I'm going to have a podcast. I want to do a retreat. And I'm like, okay, do you have a team? Do you have money? Because if you don't have both of those things, you can do one of those things very well on your own, but all three not at the same time. Brad Crowell 18:19  Yeah. So with the personal brand, he said, Hey, it's so important to take it seriously. Pretend your personal brand is a company. He said, when life gets busy, it's most often the thing that takes a back seat, and at the end of the day, it is the foundation for anything else that you want to do down the road. So he talked about it the entire show. So it was great. I really appreciated it. He said, It's a commitment. Put your personal brand on a level of importance, just like other things in your life, like family, kids, business. Speaker 1 18:47  I mean, I think that's a, and here's the thing, it's like, do you know what your priorities are? Because I think most people say their priorities are the growth of their business and their family and their kids and their whatever. And then when you look at their schedule, you see it's answering emails, paying the bills, going grocery shopping, so like, make sure that your priorities are really in your schedule, and you can make that commitment. Brad Crowell 19:10  Yeah, love it. Stick around. We're gonna cover those Be It Action Items in just a sec. Brad Crowell 19:13  All right. So finally, let's talk about those, Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Nick Hiter? He said, "Everything you do has got to be done on purpose. The difference between major league pitcher and the little league pitcher is the size target they can hit. The more specific you are with the targets and your goals, the better chances you have of hitting them." Nick explained, he actually had a ton of metaphors and a lot of quotes. I was joking with Lesley earlier, and I said, I think that if you live in Nashville, like when you move in, they just give you a book of quotes because all the Nashville guys that we interview, they rattle off quotes. It's really impressive because they're totally applicable for the moment. But I'm like, I don't have that in my what is, I need more, I need quotes from Wayne Gretzky like he quoted at the very end. He said, you don't win the championship by accident, you choose it, and that was the goal that you wanted. So you do the work. In fact, the quote he said was just the Gretzky quote is, "You win the game before you even step on the ice." Right? And I was like, wow. Mindset, powerful confidence. I've got this. That's amazing to me. I mean, everything you do has got to be on purpose. So love it. What about you? Lesley Logan 20:27  Well, more quotes. He quoted Bruce Lee. Brad Crowell 20:30  He did. He also quoted Bruce Lee. Lesley Logan 20:31  By the way, I did a Bruce Lee exercise today in my Pilates session, because this other guy from Korea did it and I was like, and my teacher, Ken, was like, oh, Lesley, you could do that. And I was like, I, I'm gonna do it, obviously. And you know what, guys, I hadn't done it in like, 10 years, and I fucking did it. Brad Crowell 20:31  Nice. Lesley Logan 20:47  So we're channeling Bruce Lee today. Brad Crowell 20:49  We're channeling.Lesley Logan 20:50  He said, "You're casting spells on yourself with the words that you say." So when people ask Nick how he's doing, his response is, "I'm unstoppable."Brad Crowell 20:58  I'm unstoppable. Talk about an amazing response. Lesley Logan 21:02  Yes, I'm unstoppable. And by the way, it does make me think of Cafe Gratitude. It's like, I'm gonna honor the unstoppable bowl. And when they bring it to you, they're like, you are unstoppable.Brad Crowell 21:12  I mean, I made this decision a long time ago. When people ask me, what do I say? Lesley Logan 21:17  I'm amazing. Brad Crowell 21:17  I'm amazing. Yeah. Lesley Logan 21:19  You probably should stop saying when people say, what are you up to? You have to stop saying, "Drugs."Brad Crowell 21:23  Oh, maybe I have to stop saying drugs. Brad Crowell 21:25  You are casting a spell on yourself. Brad Crowell 21:26  That's been my quote for 25 years or my joke for 25 years. Lesley Logan 21:28  I know and people don't think that. They don't know that you're joking. They think that you're serious. Brad Crowell 21:32  So, what do you do? I used to just say drugs. Lesley Logan 21:34  Yeah. What do you do for a living? It's like, drugs. And like, they just stop, now, because they, now peopleBrad Crowell 21:40  Yeah, now they're like, can, can you? Is he? Lesley Logan 21:41  Well, because now so many drugs are legal, they think it's true. So like, you gotta, you have to come up with something better, because you're casting spells on yourself, and it's not good. Okay. He says at enough times he actually believes that everything takes repetition. And he talked about when people ask most people say, "I'm good." And he said, "Well, guess what? That's all you're gonna be." I'm good. I was like, oh, I don't want to just be good. I'll be fucking amazing. Brad Crowell 22:05  Yeah, I want to be unstoppable. Lesley Logan 22:07  Yeah, yeah. So, you know, everyone, just start looking up different—are those adjectives? What's unstoppable? Is that a verb? Brad Crowell 22:12  I have no idea.Lesley Logan 22:12  Is it an adverb? You guys, I cheated all through English class, so I'm just gonna tell you right now. I will never know. Sometimes I don't really know the differences semicolon and a colon. So. Brad Crowell 22:12  It's an adjective. Lesley Logan 22:14  It's an adjective. Well, look at me. I was around the first I should have just trusted myself. I should just had the confidence to just go, "It's an adjective." At any rate, you guys just look up adjectives and then pull out five that strike your fancy and try them on and say them enough times—you'll believe them. I'm Lesley Logan. Brad Crowell 22:46  And I'm Brad Crowell. Lesley Logan 22:46  Thank you so much for listening to us today. This is amazing. In fact, Brad and I are working on more vacations than work trips for 2024. Brad Crowell 1:24  That's what we're working on. Lesley Logan 1:26  We already have vacation plans. Brad Crowell 1:27  We do. Lesley Logan 1:27  In a few weeks we're gonna be in Cabo. Brad Crowell 1:29  I'm excited. Lesley Logan 1:30  I know. So where are y'all going? We want to know. Where are you planning to vacation? You should plan one even if you can't pay for it this year, pull it put it in the books for next year. Because before you know it, like I met someone's like, they've never taken their honeymoon. It's been 20 years. I'm like, in 20 years you never found time? Like not even money like you never just like decided to make any one of your trips like your actual honeymoon? It's gotta be intentional people.Brad Crowell 1:51  Yeah, I mean, it also helps with like, mental health. Instead of hitting the reset button. Lesley Logan 1:57  Yes, one of the things that I had our assistant do is go through our calendars and find a weekend in every quarter where we could pack the van up and go drive somewhere because there's like so many things that we could see within driving distance. Brad Crowell 2:08  That's cool. You know, we still never been to Death Valley. Lesley Logan 2:11  I know. Brad Crowell 2:11  It's right here.Lesley Logan 2:12  That's one of the things we can go do. So anyways, we're doing it. Brad Crowell 2:16  I love it. Lesley Logan 2:16  I know. Also, I haven't taken you to the Sands Hotel, which I love so much. I know. SoBrad Crowell 2:22  Can we drive to that? Lesley Logan 2:23  Yeah, I got there. Brad Crowell 2:25  I know what you I know, which one you're referring to. Down in California-a.Lesley Logan 2:28  So anyways, make sure you tell your friends to plan their vacations, too, because that's how the world goes round. So some of, it is we got to, we got peer pressure in a good way. Go plan a vacation. So, Agency Mini Number 10 starts on February 11th which meansBrad Crowell 2:47  It's in less than two weeks, y'all.Lesley Logan 2:48  Which means you gotta sign up now. Brad Crowell 2:50  Do it.Lesley Logan 2:50  And we don't even know if Number 11 is happening this year or next year. We haven't planned it yet. What?Lesley Logan 2:55  It's true. This might be the year that we only do one? We'll see. We'll see.Lesley Logan 2:59  Yeah, where we've been really trying to get down to one and this might be the year that we do it. We'll we'll let you know. Brad Crowell 3:04  Don't wait on this. Even if you can't join everything live, you should still participate because we will have access to replays for you, limited access, but it'll be there. Lesley Logan 3:12  Yeah. And then the summer camp for OPC I know it's only January (inaudible) summer camp, but we are doing that because it's gonna be the biggest summer camp we've ever done. Also this year with OPC we are doing less workshops throughout the year. And in fact putting them all in one big epic weekend. Don't worry, there's replays it's virtual, you can do it. So stay tuned for that. And then just so you know, even though technically, the OPC Reformer Accountability Challenge kind of wrapped up today, you can actually sign up for it and start it anytime. The way that we made it, the way we created it, the way everything goes is you start that accountability challenge when you're ready and so all you do is go to opc.me/challenge and you can start your Reformer Accountability Program now so you didn't miss anything at all look at that. Lesley Logan 3:55  Didn't miss it at all and if you want to do more than once in a year, congratulations. You can do that.Lesley Logan 3:59  Do it again. And for my mat lovers in March MATness we will do that for you. So this is the year I will do something for March MATness it's not gonna be my Instagram it's gonna be this because that's like actually way cooler and gives you something to do. So stay tuned, we'll let you know when that's coming up next month. And then we are Lesley Logan 4:18  The flashcards to be to be determined on the exact presale dateLesley Logan 4:22  Yeah, for the chairs deck? Really, babe? Brad Crowell 4:23  Ah, for the Barrels Deck for the Barrels Deck. Who wrote this? Lesley Logan 4:28  Who wrote this? Brad Crowell 4:29  Who put together the script together?Lesley Logan 4:30  We gotta we gotta put it in their performance review. Anyways, the presale for Barrels Deck is we're working on it. Here's the deal. I'll be really honest on the day that we're recording this I just found out that they still don't have a skew for the barrel I need to buy to do the photo shoots.Brad Crowell 4:43  So soon as the, the content's almost done as far as the copy, the layouts are done, the design is done. We just need to do a photo shoot and then we'll be able to actually pull it all together and then we'll have it reviewed a few times but the teachers. Lesley Logan 4:57  Yes. And then it and then once it goes to print. So we're our goal is, our goal is April but get on the waitlist at opc.me/flashcardwaitlist that's one word apparently. Lesley Logan 5:09  Flash card singular flash card waitlist. Okay, so opc.me/flashcardwaitlist. Lesley Logan 5:13  The longest word flashcardwaitlist all one word no hyphens. Brad Crowell 5:18  Spelling with Brad. Lesley Logan 5:19  Yes. And then we just close the earlybird for Cambodia Brad Crowell 5:25  For the Lesley Logan Retreat.Lesley Logan 5:26  Oh my goodness. I'm gonna give a shout out to Mandy and Liza because I'm, sorry Mandi and Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. I'm like, Lisa with a Tisa. They're coming into Cambodia, they're already signed up. It is that Mandi's 60th birthday present to herself. We're gonna have a biggest class, you have to join these amazing women and a bunch of others who've already signed up. So if there's spots left, you can sign up. Brad Crowell 5:48  Yeah, yeah. Don't wait on that. There might not be spots left here. So if this is something you've been thinking about, just reach out. Lesley Logan 5:55  Yeah. Alright. So before we talk about Sandy, do we have an audience question? Brad Crowell 5:59  We totally do. This one was fun. Was actually asked live in person while we were on our Lesley Logan 6:05  Actually no, it came through Instagram after (inaudible).Lesley Logan 6:09  Oh, just kidding. I recognized the name so I assumed. Sicily from Austin, Texas. First off, great to hang with you on the winter tour. That was so much fun. Lesley Logan 6:18  And talk about really when the peer pressure is a good way. Sicily peer pressure to friend Julie to come to the workshop and then peer pressured herself and Julie to stay for the second one. So like, it can be a good thing. Brad Crowell 6:29  It was a win. It was a good time. But she asked, how do we shower in the van when we're on the road? And where do we sleep? Lesley Logan 6:39  Yeah, so apparently many of you don't realize we actually do sleep in the van. Brad Crowell 6:43  In the van. Lesley Logan 6:43  We sleep in the van.Brad Crowell 6:44  With three dogs. Lesley Logan 6:45  Yeah, so here's the thing. We met this guy. This is not your question, Sicily, but I just have to put this out there. So we're in we're in one of the cities and this guy comes up to me and we're like (inaudible) he was like oh, so it's like Ross putting the table together with all the merch and the flashcards and he's like oh, so it's like a band like where are you? You make no money on the tour and you make money on the merch instead? And I said we actually as far as the tour merch goes we make $0 on that. We make money on the tour unlike bands and because you guys we don't stay in hotels. We sleep in the van like band people would sleep in a van. We don'tBrad Crowell 7:21  Maybe they usually sleep on people's couches.Lesley Logan 7:23  Oh, okay, well, no, we don't do that. That's you know what we did that the first time we cross country tour we like had friends like lowness or guestrooms and it's honestly annoying. Like I love my friends and it's so fun to visit with them but lugging your stuff in and out of the car each stop is just like a packing and unpacking. So we like the whole time we have a great bed in the van. And you'd be surprised like how cold it doesn't get in the van and how well you sleep because it's a little chilly.Brad Crowell 7:51  Plus, we get to hang with our friends anyway. We still have to do the packing-unpacking.Lesley Logan 7:54  Yeah, we love seeing our friends. We still do packing-unpacking you're correct. We don't currently have the toilet that I would like the van to have. Yeah, that'sBrad Crowell 8:01  That's gonna happen before the summer tour. Lesley Logan 8:04  That's kind of key you guys that one because like in the middle of the night sometimes you just want to pee again and you don't want to like go into the Planet Fitness and check in for the third time that night. Brad Crowell 8:14  That's true. Lesley Logan 8:14  Hi checking in. Brad Crowell 8:16  Yeah, so that's actually where we shower into the other question. Yes, we have a membership to Planet Fitness and there are I don't even know how many locations they have. Lesley Logan 8:24  They don't sponsor. Brad Crowell 8:25  No, they don't. Lesley Logan 8:26  This is not even a promo for them. But you can you can. So here's the deal. We just get there like unlimited membership. And then we use it for the massage chairs. The showers and I work out there.Brad Crowell 8:37  In the United States there are 2392 locations of them.Lesley Logan 8:42  Yeah. So yeah, we've probably been to a good 50 of them. Brad Crowell 8:46  Yeah. I mean, we it's been really good and honestly, not everywhere. But most towns that we stopped in have a Planet Fitness that's open 24/7.Lesley Logan 8:54  (Inaudible). No, I'm gonna say not all of them are created equal. Brad Crowell 9:00  That's true. Lesley Logan 9:00  I am wanting like a secret job where I get paid to review the bathrooms. Because like some of themBrad Crowell 9:08  A couple of them are amazing others are like what the hell happened here? Lesley Logan 9:11  Yes. Some of them I'm like I think so. Because like we use the Love's truck stops a lot too. Yeah, and all but oneBrad Crowell 9:18  Sorry, they are travel centers. Lesley Logan 9:20  Sorry, travel centers. The Love's travel centers. So we love the Love's travel centers if we can't do a Planet Fitness I have not showered at one although I have to imagine that they're super clean because all but one Love's travel center. Ever. We've only ever had one. There's only one female restroom that I've ever been like, I can barely be here. Every other one has been the cleanest thing I've ever seen. And so I imagine that the showers are beautiful there too. I just haven't. I haven't done it. Mostly because I don't see any other women over in that shower area. And I it makes me nervous. I'm I'm probably telling myself a new story there. Anyways, hope that answers your question. We love answering these random questions from you guys. They're so fun because you know, inquiring minds want to know. So send your questions to the Be It Pod we'll answer them. Clearly no questions off limits we'll tell you where we're peeing. And nowBrad Crowell 10:09  Everybody's doing it. Lesley Logan 10:10  Everyone's everyone poops.Brad Crowell 10:12  Everybody poops.Lesley Logan 10:13  That's true. Okay. Brad Crowell 10:14  I think it's a book. Lesley Logan 10:15  It is. Let's talk about Sandy.Brad Crowell 10:18  Okay. Now let's talk about Sandy Joy Weston. Sandy is an accomplished entrepreneur in the health and wellness sector holding a master's degree in exercise physiology and a bachelor's in dance. Her leadership marked by passion for fostering growth, and guiding her team is driven by a core goal, helping others to discover and embrace the joy within themselves. Lesley Logan 10:41  Oh my God, she is pure joy. Brad Crowell 10:44  Exuberant. Lesley Logan 10:44  Yeah, like she just is. She's so fun. Brad Crowell 10:48  The whole the whole interview went by so fast. I was just really enjoying it.Lesley Logan 10:53  Yeah, she was fabulous. So anyways, I my favorite takeaway that I loved. She said, the most desperate situation, I could put a smile on someone's face. So I love this because it seems so like, some people would not really give themselves credit for being I'll put smiles on people's faces and like, bring joy to someone. But actually, you guys like the world's really a heavy place. And, you know, if you can, like put a smile on someone's face, that might be the first time they smile that day. And so she, you know, she had a really like, hard life. She grew up in the projects, her mom spent 50% of her life in mental hospitals. Her brother had a challenging time, but she would like throw on tap shoes, and she would dance to entertain people. And she just was like, she didn't need to have a cure. She just wanted to, like put a smile on people's faces. And so she knew that her that in those moments, she could bring people hope. And I just think that like, you know, I've just really think it's really cool that she gives herself credit for that, because so many people just wouldn't be like, I'm not I'm not curing cancer, you know, so and it's like, no, you're not, but as me you can't make people feel loved and smile.Brad Crowell 11:58  Yeah, totally. And it sounds like she had a challenging upbringing. And you wouldn't know it, because of her attitude. And her her willingness to find joy.Lesley Logan 12:10  Yeah, well, you know, like, we're listening to Brad Bizjack, and we're doing some stuff. And he talks about, like, you know, you could have a tough past, but your past doesn't have to dictate your present. Brad Crowell 12:20  Yeah, it doesn't have to define you. Lesley Logan 12:21  No, it can just, it can be something that happened. And like, but you're you became this person because of those things, and not in spite, like, like, like, you can actually use it for good. And in spite of those things, and like, you don't have to continue to bring up like, some people just keen to do it bring up I'm from the projects I'm from the projects. It's like, yeah, you I grew up poor too. And like, that doesn't have to mean that you stay poor. Brad Crowell 12:46  Right. Lesley Logan 12:46  Yeah. Brad Crowell 12:47  So yeah, well, she also talked about one thing I really dug, which is different than what my actual point is, she talked about seeing herself on stage. But like, effectively, like manifesting it, and I just found it so interesting, because I've been listening to the mindset of abundance a lot, recently, and seeing, like, the way that she described it, it wasn't even like she didn't even talk about manifestation. She just talked about envisioning herself speaking on the stage in front of 10,000 people shaking hands with Tony Robbins being like being peers, like doing all the things where she like, wakes up and does this thing. And she goes, oh, my gosh, I can feel the energy of that. I know how amazing it is going to be, how epic that is going to be. And then, you know, within within, I don't know what the actual time was. But shortly thereafter, she's actually starting to book gigs that are larger gigs like this. And because she's ready for it, she's mentally ready for it. When someone asked her the question, she's like, yeah, I mean, I can I got this, I know that I can do this kind of thing. I just thought how amazing is that? You know, that she can see, you know, and see herself in the moment. She's being it till she sees it it's literally that. But also, it's like, you know, it's like what my, my dad taught me when I was a kid Lesley Logan 14:16  Like what, see yourself hitting the ball?Brad Crowell 14:18  Into the net. Kicking that ball into the net, see it go in the net before you ever actually kick the ball. And, you know, so it's not this weird left field idea, you know, and so I just love that she's bringing it back around, because here I am in my 40's. And that's not something that I do. You know, I don't see the ball go in the net before I kick the ball at this point in my life. And I just loved I found that very refreshing that she's 63. And she's doing that. It's amazing.Lesley Logan 14:45  So cool. But what else? Brad Crowell 14:49  Yeah, so actually, that was all a side note, y'all because I just thought it was really inspiring. She talks about how she landed this gig in Thailand at 2018 for an international women's conference and she said, who am I to be on the stage with all these doctors and like women of prestige and all these stuff? And they're like, who the hell are you that you booked this gig? You know, and she's like, literally getting judged. Right? And she said she was she was super, super worried about this. That so she spent six solid months prepping for this 90 minutes. She was the keynote speaker. Right? And they're all like, who is? Who is Sandy Joy Weston? Why is she the keynote speaker? Right. And so she's prepping. And she said, I knew I was going to blow all their minds with all this information about the brain and all the things and like cognitive blah, blah, blah, right? And so she was like, she practiced and practiced and practiced. And she got there. And she realized 15 minutes in that half the audience wasn't understanding her because there was a language barrier. And she, she literally, like she had the, the wherewithal to identify that and stop her own presentation, get out of her own head and be like, hey, y'all, are you figuring it out? Are you even understanding me? Right? I don't know how she said it. But they, you know, she said, if you're, if you're only picking up every other word, raise your hand. And she said, like, half the crowd, raised their hand. And she was like, okay, so all of this really sciency stuff that I'm gonna that I have planned out the window, and she said, you know what these people need, they need to move they need to dance, they need to there's a weird barrier here. Because of the language, there's a weird weirdness between the women. And she identified that in the moment. And so she started, she had no soundtrack, she had nothing. She just started, everybody dance into a song that she pulled up on her phone. Right? And she said, for the rest of the weekend, people would just take a moment and do a couple moves from the dance. And she said it changed the entire vibe of however many people were at this conference. And you know, good for her. First off, that's amazing. And also, I mean, a little bit of a hell yeah, because she said those people who were judging her came back and said, got it, figured out why you're the keynote speaker. But man, I just thought that was so inspiring that she had, you know, she, she basically, prep, prep, prep, prep, prep, and in the moment, realized this is wrong, and was willing to change course, in the middle of the moment. Lesley Logan 17:20  I think that's what's so cool about preparation and opportunity, like your prep, like someone say, well, she just wasted her time. No, she couldn't have done what she did. Had she not known what she's gonna say so much to know, and visualize so much to know what it was going to be like, and then going, oh, there's a map. This is not this is not going the way that I anticipated. So likeBrad Crowell 17:40  Also I think you know, so it's like what she actually said, which I thought was really also inspiring, was all that preparation to talk about science and the brain. She's like, yeah, okay, I have a master's degree, but I'm not a doctor. And I was trying, I was thinking that I was going to be impressing the other presenters and showing them well, I know my stuff, too.Lesley Logan 18:04  (Inaudible) Gaia that was timely because Sandy's phone fell. So GaiaBrad Crowell 18:08  Gaia's banging the table so hard that the cameras shook. Lesley Logan 18:11  Yeah. Brad Crowell 18:12  Lay down girl. Okay. But what what she said is, that isn't me, I'm not the sciency person, right? Who am I? I'm a movement person who gets, who helps people find joy. And so she realized mid pitch that what she was doing wasn't her, changed it to be her and nailed it.Lesley Logan 18:34  Yeah, I think that's really cool. Brad Crowell 18:36  That's amazing. Lesley Logan 18:36  I love it. I love that. Lesley Logan 18:38  All right, so finally, let's talk about those Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Sandy Joy Weston? I thought that I'm just gonna jump in here y'all, I'm gonna take the first swing. She said. Brad's in a mood. She said, think about one area in your life that you want to uplevel, only one. And she said she listed off a couple, like your emotional health or your physical health or, you know, just but just pick one. You can't pick them all. Start with one and do a four-week trial of making changes in that area. Before you go, get out of bed in the morning. Think of one word of how you want to show up in that day in that area of your life. So ask yourself, what would you do? What would you say? How would you act if you had ease and flow in you know, mindset, let's just say like, here's a good example. My ex-girlfriend dumped me many, many years ago, because she said Brad, you're angry. You're really angry all the time and your anger actually I know you're not angry at me. But your anger affects me. It really affects me and I can't be around it. And I was like, I don't know what you're talking about. That's not what I said. But, you know, you know, if I were to want to address that, for me, I think I think I would have to like, take a music stand, put it on the side of my bed, and write on a piece of paper and put it right there so that when I sat up in the morning, I'd see the first thing I would seeLesley Logan 20:20  (Inaudible) music stand. Like, you can't just like put it on a, post it on the wall when you roll over. Brad Crowell 20:25  No, I was, I was a full-blown musician at this point in my life, right? So, you know, what do I have available to me? I have a music stand. So, you know, I would have had to do that. So that because I, if I try to remember, tomorrow morning, the first thing I do when I wake up is I'm going to say this mantra. No, I won't. I'll probably have shit night's sleep to be quite honest. Because I'm trying to remember this thing all night long. No. So put it on a music stand, put it next to the bed, sit up and then ask yourself, okay, if today I'm going to I want to be less angry. What am I going to do today? That was gonna be less angry? What am I going to say today? That, um, you know, how am I going to act? What am I going to be? How am I going to do this? How is this going to be easier and flow easier? And she said give yourself 30 seconds, write it down somewhere and then go through the day saying I feel ease and flow in this area of anger and then see what you could do about it in your life and take that action. So yeah, I think that's really great, very actionable, free, easy thing to to take to undertake. Lesley Logan 21:24  I love when a Be It Action Item is free because here's another one, mine. Brad Crowell 21:27  Tell me. Lesley Logan 21:28  Um, she said use visualization as a manifestation tool. And she talked about how she personally used it. We've talked about a little bit but she used it to envision herself on big stages. She envisioned herself starting a convo with Tony Robbins and then being on the same stage with him in Las Vegas conference. She envisions herself on the TEDx stage. She often asked herself like, what else do I want? What else do I want so she can continue to visualize and manifest what she wants? And Brad? Brad Crowell 21:56  Tell me. Lesley Logan 21:57  Well, did she get the gig? Brad Crowell 21:59  We've an update for y'all. During the interview, she said, I thought I was interviewing this woman to be on I'm assuming she has a podcast, or a YouTube channel or something. And she said, actually, that woman was interviewing me and she got the gig, y'all. She landed that TEDx talk, so I don't know when it's coming out. But congratulations to Sandy Joy Weston. We're so fired up for her. What an amazing coincidence that she manifested, you know, prepared for, was ready to go. It was amazing. That's amazing.Lesley Logan 22:29  I know. So y'all, like, don't underestimate the power of like, visualizing what you want your future to look like because it will tell you what your next step has to be. Brad Crowell 22:38  Well said. Lesley Logan 22:38  I know. I'm Lesley Logan. Brad Crowell 22:39  And I'm Brad Crowell.Lesley Logan 22:40  Thank you so much for being part of this podcast journey with us. Throughout our business we've always made it a point to invest in education, whether it be through courses, mentors or coaches, we've always valued learning new skills. If I could go back in time, the very first thing i'd invest in would be mindset coaching. What I've come to realize over the last few years is that mindset really is what creates the ceiling of what one is able to achieve. Fortunately, I've been introduced to a lot of different resources both in people and programs that focus on just that. These past few years have taught me that focusing on mindset is just as important as focusing on my physical health. As always, links and resources can be found in the show notes. On today's episode, our guest is Brad BizJack. He's here to share something special for those of you looking to achieve more success, joy, love, and financial abundance, grow your business, mend relationships, and unlock your full potential. Brad will shed light on the concept of rewiring your mind, explaining what it means and how to recognize it when you need it. Furthermore, he'll explore what life looks like after this transformation, so you can envision the possibilities.  [2:40] Why should I listen to you? Honestly, it's really simple. I can see the problem behind the problem—I can understand what you're going through and help you view life in a way that allows you to rewire your mind to focus on your true dreams. Many people are in a situation where they support others, but sometimes all it takes is one little insight, one question, and one different perspective on a problem that can transform everything. This is evident in the success stories of life. So, picture us at a coffee shop, discussing your dreams and goals. By the end of that conversation, you will undoubtedly know exactly what you want out of life, what's holding you back, and the practical strategies for breaking through. [3:35] Can you share a moment in your life that's relevant to the person you help today? Starting with a challenging $92,000 debt and a miserable job, I eagerly embraced an opportunity for an online business, hoping it would lead to financial success and happiness. As I struggled, I noticed that while everyone else was thriving, I was stuck in toxic positivity, pretending problems didn't exist. I believed I'd only be happy when I achieved success. After talking to a mentor, I made a pivotal decision. I chose to work with a coach who changed my perspective during our first session. She emphasized that my attachment to success was the issue. Success wouldn't miraculously solve my problems. Instead, it was about rewiring my mindset and overcoming limiting beliefs. This realization prompted me to shift my focus to understanding my mental operating system. Attending a life-altering conference, despite a recent job loss, I embraced the theme of rewiring the mind for success. This transformation marked the start of my journey, and now I've dedicated myself to helping others transform their lives and find profound freedom. [8:45] Can you share common language patterns or signs you've noticed from clients you've worked with before they started working with you? My extensive experience working with thousands of individuals has revealed recurring patterns that either hinder their progress or drive them toward success. A common issue is the absence of a compelling vision for the future. Many individuals tone down their dreams to fit a more "realistic" mold, often due to past failures influencing their future outlook. They restrict themselves from dreaming big and play it safe instead of aiming for victory. This rationalization manifests in various ways, such as claiming contentment with their current situation or waiting for the "right time" to take action. Self-blame is another prevalent symptom. People often attribute their struggles to emotional states like lack of confidence, depression, or anxiety. It's crucial to recognize that these states are malleable and depend on how they use their body, focus their thoughts, and express themselves. A prominent sign of this is scarcity thinking, particularly regarding money as the source of their problems. Limiting beliefs about time and fears of not having enough time to change their lives are also common. Two significant symptoms include the belief that they should already be further ahead in life or that they'll only find happiness once they achieve success. [16:20] What is the promised land, and what can people expect when they arrive there? In essence, it's about living life on your terms—a somewhat cliché concept but incredibly significant. It's not just about the overarching idea of having the freedom to do what you want when you want, with whom you want, and where you want. It extends to being irresistibly drawn by a compelling future vision, eliminating internal conflicts, and achieving emotional regulation. Most people allow their emotional state to be determined by external factors. I teach individuals to become emotional regulators, where they set their desired emotional temperature and maintain it consistently. It's also about living in alignment with your true desires, creating wealth, finding freedom, fostering meaningful relationships, and surrounding yourself with individuals who both understand and challenge you. After this transformation, your life becomes a reflection of the expectations set by your inner circle. You'll handle life's challenges with confidence, create your vision of success, and experience fulfillment along the way. This is what it means to reside in the "success sweet spot," where you strive for significant goals while relishing the journey and living in abundance, filled with gratitude and excitement. It's a harmonious and prosperous way of life where everything flows effortlessly. [19:28] How do you adjust your expectations and surround yourself with the right people when your current community or friends may not align with your goals? One significant challenge I encountered was expecting immediate support and understanding from those close to me regarding my dreams. As a visionary, it's essential to lead with unwavering belief in your vision. Lowering your aspirations to match the acceptance level of those around you can lead to disappointment. Instead, I've learned to love and accept the people in my life for who they are. I've also recognized the importance of carefully selecting a supportive peer group. Surrounding yourself with people who believe in your dreams and challenge you to grow is essential for personal transformation and success. [24:00] What can you share about your experience or insights with individuals who want to level up and join a more successful or supportive group but have concerns about not fitting in or being accepted by that group? Successful individuals have a genuine desire to uplift and assist others in achieving success. Joining such a group can be intimidating if you're worried about maintaining the group's integrity and providing real value. Focus on giving rather than getting. When contemplating a peer group, look at those who operate at a higher level than you and consider how you can contribute. Find innovative ways to offer value to them. For instance, if you're part of a more successful business group, leverage your strengths, like a happy marriage, to assist others in that area. It's crucial to set clear boundaries and limit interactions with individuals not at that higher level. I make sure to have regular conversations with people more successful than me, always open to learning. Surround yourself with those who excel in areas you wish to grow and discover ways to enhance your knowledge and skills. Understand your value, and if you think you have nothing to offer, create something valuable to share. [29:50] Could you share some real-time transformations you've witnessed in the people you currently work with? I've witnessed people go from utter financial struggles to establishing multi-six-figure businesses in a mere six months. Their achievements are nothing short of incredible. From an emotional standpoint, some have described it as 40 years of challenges crumbling away like a sledgehammer that just shattered their burdens, leaving them feeling free for the first time. I've seen individuals rekindle relationships with their children, bridging gaps that had persisted for decades. They finally sense the family bonds they've yearned for. People have forgiven their parents after holding onto grudges for years. In just a few days, some have decided to walk away from toxic jobs, opting to explore creative ways of serving others on a deeper level. Then some wake up one day and realize they're simply happy, without fully understanding why. It's truly incredible what becomes possible. [30:20] Can you elaborate on your five-day work and session challenge, how it works, and what individuals can expect when they take part in this challenge?  The challenge is called The Success Accelerator, a life-changing five-day challenge, offered a few times yearly and has already impacted over 50,000 lives globally. It focuses on rewiring your mindset for your distinct vision of success. Many people struggle to grow and change because they're pursuing someone else's dream, shaped by societal norms or personal history. This program not only helps you pinpoint what you genuinely desire for this phase of your life but also dismantles common toxic thought patterns and limiting beliefs that hinder your progress. The challenge isn't just about theory; it provides practical strategies to overcome your fears, doubts, and insecurities, allowing you to create the life you envision. The difference between those for whom success flows organically and those who struggle tirelessly becomes clear in this challenge, along with practical steps to bridge that gap. You can succeed without sacrificing precious family moments. Join the Success Accelerator to unlock your potential and transform every aspect of your life. [35:40] What promise did God make to the world when he created you?  I would help people come alive, empower them, and help them find gratitude and love so that they can see how beautiful life can be. Key Quotes  [6:00-6:03] You need to make decisions based on who you want to be. In today's episode, our guest is Brad Bizjack. He is the CEO and Founder of Brad Bizjack, LLC. He's a personal development expert and international inspirational speaker with almost a decade of experience coaching thousands of individuals and teams to maximize performance and elevate their mindset and career to the next level. He's developed online mindset academies sold in multiple countries throughout the world.  [2:48] Why should I listen to you?  That's an excellent question. It's intriguing because it's not something I've been asked before. If I were faced with that situation, my approach would be centered around active listening and genuinely understanding your story and current circumstances. Perhaps the key lies in empathy and having a deep understanding of what it feels like to walk in someone else's shoes, coupled with a strong desire to be of service. From a credibility standpoint, my ability to connect with people stems from years of personal struggle. I have experienced the challenges of being overworked, underpaid, and burdened by significant debt. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't seem to break free from that cycle. However, once I embraced the strategies and concepts we'll be discussing today, everything started to change for the better. [4:18] Do you mind taking us through your journey?  After college, I pursued a job to overcome my debt and achieve financial freedom. But deep down, I craved more—I wanted to break free from mediocrity and outrun my past. That's when I discovered online business and its promises of success, inspiration, and financial abundance. However, despite my efforts, nothing seemed to work. I found myself trapped in a cycle of toxic positivity, pretending everything was fine while struggling internally. Realizing I needed a mindset shift, I hired a coach despite my mounting debt. During our first call, she opened my eyes to the true path to success: rewiring my mind and finding happiness. This revelation led me to attend a life-changing conference focused on limiting beliefs, where I underwent a transformative experience. From there, I paid off my debt, retired my wife, and built a thriving business serving clients worldwide. I discovered that true success comes from rewiring the mind and prioritizing happiness and appreciation for life. This is where my journey began. [8:08] How can someone find a moment of happiness?  It's crucial to examine what people believe will bring them fulfillment, especially when facing financial struggles. Often, individuals associate peace of mind, freedom, or other desired outcomes with having more money. However, it's important to question who took away their peace of mind or freedom. No external factor has the power to strip away these inner qualities. Many individuals find themselves in a mindset of "should"—believing their circumstances should be different, and they should have more money, a bigger business, or a happier life. This mentality can be counterproductive as it prevents them from recognizing the lessons that will help them break through their challenges. Scott Harris introduced the concept of feathers, bricks, and trucks, illustrating how life presents us with lessons. Initially, life gently nudges us with a feather, but often, we brush it off and fail to learn the lesson. In response, life intensifies its efforts, tossing a brick with a message tied to it through our window. Instead of focusing on the shattered glass, we should seek the lesson hidden within the note. Problems, though painful, are gifts that demand our attention. However, if we continue to ignore the lessons, life may resort to drastic measures, like a Mack truck with a note painted in red. [12:33] What do you have to say about the idea of setting a goal?  I believe in the old adage that without vision, you shall perish, which holds true even in biblical teachings. Unfortunately, many people make the mistake of lacking a compelling vision for their future. Past failures and disappointments have left them so wounded that they have become attached to specific outcomes, believing that their worth is tied to those results. As a result, they shrink their goals to make them more realistic. However, I share the viewpoint of Will Smith, who said that realism is the quickest path to mediocrity. While it's important to be realistic about the actions and time required to achieve our goals, being realistic about the dreams themselves often fails to ignite excitement. Instead of setting goals based on what we truly desire, we tend to base them on past experiences. We rationalize and convince ourselves that we can only handle a certain amount or that it's all we can take on right now. This mentality is comparable to having multiple plugs connected but neglecting to plug in our health. Many people approach their lives this way, trying to be realistic when setting their dreams. Unfortunately, they find that they don't achieve these smaller goals, leading them to think they should aim even lower. [18:52] How does someone have this thing that they love that might be in the same direction but not the same thing? That's a valid concern, and it's essential to approach the pursuit of one's heart's calling with careful consideration and planning. It doesn't always mean making drastic changes or completely upending your life. Here are a few steps to lean into chasing your heart's calling without blowing your life up: Reflect and clarify, set realistic goals, plan and strategize, seek support, manage risks and resources, embrace gradual change, and practice self-care.  [23:06] How does someone lean into chasing some of their heart's callings without blowing their life up? Many individuals harbor resentment toward their current circumstances, Let's make note of two important points. Firstly, from a conceptual standpoint, if you are formulating a vision and expecting immediate support from others, you're being unrealistic. As a visionary, you lead the way and initiate the idea. Eventually, people will join in. For instance, when I started my business, my wife initially believed it was the worst idea ever. However, now she is incredibly happy with our successful venture. I hold no judgment against her, as her concern was for our security and stability. She saw my pursuit of a dream as a threat to our safety. Her intention was pure, she aimed to protect us. The key takeaway is that, as a visionary, you must take the leap of faith without immediate support. Now, if you have a family to provide for while chasing your dreams, it may not be the most responsible choice to abandon your sole source of income, risking your children's well-being. I firmly believe in providing for my kids. Now, let's delve into the psychological aspect that can be helpful. Many people have dreams or callings in their hearts, but they bring negative energy to their existing roles or careers because they feel they shouldn't be in those positions.  [33:20] What do people use nowadays to get from point A to point B that you believe is some useful thing we should think through? So there's something we discussed earlier, and I'd like to touch upon it. It's about achieving success, which I believe is your forte. I'm eager to talk about the commerce I've been working on for quite some time. It all started during a hiking trip with my friends. Every couple of years, we embark on a two-week hiking adventure, tackling challenging trails like Half Dome and backpacking through the Grand Canyon. On the journey from Grand Canyon National Park to Yosemite, I sat in the front seat with my friend Jim. During our conversation, Jim made a profound statement about getting ideas or insights when we lack a pen to jot them down. We pondered this observation, and Jim compared road trips to success. He said, "If you're not excited about your destination, why would you embark on a cross-country drive?" It struck a chord with me, and I had a realization: success is akin to Google Maps. However, there's another crucial factor at play—the stories we tell ourselves about our present circumstances. Most people, driven by their need for significance, tend to create disempowering narratives about where they currently stand. They undermine their progress, fail to recognize the beauty of their journey and berate themselves for not yet reaching their goals.  [44:30] What promise did God make to the world when he created you?  That I will make people smile  Key Quotes [10:25-10:28] Your emotions cause you to take action to change your circumstances.  [11:04-11:09] You can't really learn to shift your life until you learn how to appreciate life.  How to connect with Brad Bizjack  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bradbizjack Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BradBizjack Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bradbizjack

If you've ever struggled in your life - and who hasn't? - this episode is for you. Today I have a special guest who explains how to create success regardless of your circumstances. By the end of this chat, you'll be ready to achieve success faster than you ever thought possible.   About Brad Bizjack Brad Bizjack is a personal development expert, mindset strategist, coach, inspirational speaker, and podcast host with over nine years of coaching experience. His mission is to help people maximize their life, master their mindsets, and elevate their relationships and career to the next level and beyond! Brad is happily married to his beautiful wife, Janiece. They live in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago and have a baby girl named Lillian and a dog named Oliver.   What appreciation really is In this episode, Brad explains how learning to appreciate what he has allowed him to find the success he had been seeking. This is rooted in the recognition that good things happen when you see life as happening for you rather than to you. We recognize that our circumstances, no matter how negative they may seem, can be gifts. This mindset shift makes it easier to see hidden opportunities and solve problems. Brad reminds us that no life is problem-free. What we want are high-quality problems that come with success.   What happens when we reframe our beliefs Brad wants us to reexamine our beliefs. He explains how what we believe often leads to its inevitability. For instance, believing that money is hard to make will naturally lead you to take less action to earn more. However, a new story about money abundance would change the actions you take and lead to new results.  Brad has some suggestions to help reframe how we think. Start with a goal you're excited about. Think about what achieving this goal would do for you. If it's inspirational for you, then you'll be motivated to see it through despite the problems that may arise. This, combined with an objective understanding of what your actual circumstances are, will prepare you to achieve anything. What does appreciation mean to you?
