Happy Valentines Day with June Rettinger de Arballo and Colleen from Sedona, Arizona. This Month of February is dedicated to the blessings of the Heart, to the very soul of our lives. At this time of struggle for our breath of life, we need the prayers and blessings of our ancestors more than ever. Everything we think, do and say, leaves an imprint on the heart somewhere. That is why we need prayers, songs and blessings. June tells us that, “A blessing can change your life! Ancestors are real. We have a direct link to them because they have walked this earth, living and breathing the four elements of earth, wind, water and fire. They are supporting us all the time, even the unborn.” June’s own ancestry is Apache, Spanish, Mexican, and German. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico and follows her spiritual practice from her mother’s heritage of Apache and Mexican. She comes from a family of seers where it was perfectly normal to sit around the kitchen table and talk about spirits, dreams and visitations. Her life has been dedicated to the use of her gifts as a psychic/medium, offering readings, clearings, ceremonies and blessings as well as group experiences. She carries a special permit to perform these ceremonies on the red rocks of Sedona. June is also a licensed massage therapist since 1979 specializing in medium to deep tissue massage and cupping. Through all of these gifts of meaningful things, her own indigenous prayer songs, love for the ancestors, the earth and humanity, she opens the vortex of the heart and hands! June can read the top of your hands, even from just a photo, which shows the story of your life. “Hands tell everything June declares. In fact, your hands change as you change. I’ve had hands change right in front of me.” She explains that when you look at couple’s hands together, it tells how they are with each other and what they need from each other. “The Left hand tells how you came into the world and the Right hand is how you are operating, regardless of whether you are right-handed or left-handed or have had an injury.” “The bottom part of the hand has to do with your relationship to love, other relationships and sometimes where you came from, difficult places. When you gather the information of your life and sort it out, the lessons, giving back to whoever and whatever, you are then able to take the medicine of the things that you have learned and move forward.” Over many years she has also worked closely with Indigenous Elders from around the world including the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers to bring their messages to our communities. Our minds can take us into the future and create all kinds of stories about what could possibly happen. Its's our hope that listening to this podcast can help you find another option and an opportunity to go within and find a place of calm that could be used to help others in these troubling times. Its an invitation to try something different. Frank reveals he spent a couple of years working on the Navajo Indian reservation with the Indian health service and shares a message from the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. https://sisterhearts.blog/2018/02/08/message-from-the-council-of-13-indigenous-grandmothers/?fbclid=IwAR1QUYY4D8hfG3e4S3w1xGZxsD8vWPJW5Sak8O4r-LTRBCL48x6IbTLoCVw The conversation includes the suggestion to take a break from that feeling of dread even for just a few minutes and try something different, take a step back in awareness and see if that may provide a way to move forward in a different lane. A quote from Byron Katie’s new book A Mind at Home With Itself is shared that speaks from a place of awareness. "The mind can never be controlled - it can only be questioned, loved and met with understanding." A space opens up when we become aware that our minds are creating all these scenarios- and there opens up a freedom when you can question them and just say "that's my mind doing what it does, and I love my mind because it is trying to protect me." The realization comes when Awareness is the identity. When you take that step back into awareness all these other things take on a different meaning. That leads to the question: Are you yourself all these thoughts and emotions and fears or is it the awareness of those things-who you really are? It's not one of those things you can think up - it's not something you can control, but once you get a glimpse...identify with that piece then all of a sudden thoughts and fears are transformed! Transformed into something to be aware of -transformed into presence =just like we do with the breath. However, it does take a decision to try it. There's a heartfulness and a compassionate aspect when we give ourselves an opportunity to move into this deeper place. You can start by being mindful of the breath. One doorway to presence and awareness is to just stop and know that you're breathing, If you know your mind is racing -who are you that knows the mind is racing? And then rest there as awareness; The more your mind is going crazy and you know it ...the more you're aware of it. Tap into the awareness of that and see what happens! That's the awakening. Respond from a place of wisdom - we all have that potential.
How can the wisdom held by indigenous communities help humanity evolve and heal? “Our work right now is to move around the planet and try to hold these pieces of people's hearts while they are opening. Our indigenous original cultures know how to walk through this - they have the prophecies that give us the instructions on how to walk through this.” ~ Jyoti In this episode Amisha sits down with internationally renowned spiritual leader Jyoti, who speaks about her early life as a woman waking up in the Southern United States, and how a series of calls, visions and sacred synchronicities led her to assemble a council of 13 indigenous grandmothers to wake up the world. Together Amisha and Jyoti speak about the ways that we can respond to the overwhelming crises that we face on a global scale, the indigenous prophecies of what is to come in the next decades and how to listen within to find our path to healing and to service in the world. Jyoti is the Spiritual Director of the or California based Center for Sacred Studies which is, among other things, sponsoring and supporting the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. The Center for Sacred Studies is in the mountains of N. California. It is a place for people to pray in whatever form they wish and much of their prayer is to heal and transform the history of violence against the Native Miwok and other Native people who were driven off their lands. One of the elders of Jyoti's larger international community, Kayumari, brought a message that one of the main purposes of the Center is to preserve different lines of prayer. Jyoti went to Africa to learn about the Iboga plant and there she met Bernadette Rebienot who is now one of the Grandmothers on the Council. Bernadette had made contact with the ayahausceros of the Amazon—ayahausca and iboga both being "plant" medicine/teachers that come out of the pharmacy of the earth. The people from the South American Amazon and Africa need to speak with soldarity and insist that their sacred plants need to be protected can no longer be taken from their communities and their natural homes to be used by pharmaceutical companies or whatever else.Jyoti got the spiritual message to organize the Council of 13 of Indigenous Grandmothers, contacted them and they all met in a the Dalai Lama’s Medicine Buddha’s Retreat Center in Ca. where Jyoti learned of the many First Nations that have a prophecy that the 13 Grandmothers would come together. The grandmothers are from North and South America, Africa, Africa and Asia. Grandma Agnes Baker Pilgrim, of the Siletz Nation in Oregon is 85 years old, the oldest and the chairwoman of the group. This August, 2009, the Grandmothers are meeting in Lincoln City, Oregon to do prayers and workshops. They visit each others homes twice a year as well as do other events. They will be in Sedona, AZ in Dec. 09 visiting Grandmother Mona who lives there. When they come together and hold public events they pray for peace together but in their own ways.Jyoti is a most impressive woman as well. She worked with children in Texax for 13 yrs. who taught her about the strength of spirit since there lives were so hard. She studied at Jung Institute, worked with severely disturbed kids, was the Director of the Spiritual Emergence Network in SF started by Stan and Christine Grof and and trained people in Europe to do similar work with people going through tumultuous times while “awakening” which some people mistakenly called "psychosis". She brought attention to the fact that, in fact, these people are often our healers. She has developed her own style breathwork, studied in India is married and a grandma and talks about "listening to the divine mother” for guidance. The Grandmothers are reminding us we need to go back to our roots because there we will find a history of people living in balance, marking the seasons and calling on and thanking the Great Mother because they knew she provided everything. Unfortunately temples and churches were built on those sacred sites of the original people's and She was thrown out of her house. When She is back on her house and we call on her we won’t have wars and we’ll be back in balance. We have this ONE chance says Grandma Aggie. First Nation people and people that are holding a vision of new world and one that is based on kindness and regard are standing up and meeting more and more frequently all over the world says Jyoti. The film about the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothersm, For the Next Seven Generations, can get be previewed and purchased online at www.forthenext7generations.com and the book about them, "Grandmothers' Council the World" can be found in nine different languages in bookstores or over the internet.Meet the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, introduced by Janet Weber: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASE0Ri_0F8g
Grandmother Agnes Pilgrim Baker, the oldest living member of the Takilma Siletz nation of Southern Oregon, is the Chairperson of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. The Grandmothers who are from Brazil, Nepal, Africa, Mexico, Tibet, Japan, the U.S. etc. travel all over the world sharing the knowledge, wisdom and hope gained through a lifetime of experience. Grandmother Aggie speaks on behalf of all Grandparents, and all those who would learn from indigenous, inherited knowledge in these times and will light our way through the uncertain future. She describes the Council, their mission, and some of their many adventures. She speaks passionately to the Elders of every society and to us all; calling us to greater action, appreciation, and gratitude for the world in which we live. From meeting with the Dalai Lama to agitating in the Vatican City, the Grandmothers stand as a reminder of the knowledge and prayers that we desperately need in our time for the healing of Mother Earth and her inhabitants. Grandmother Aggie asks us to know the history of our lands, and to build a more positive and beautiful history for the generations that are to come. For they, and not us, own the world. The grandmothers will be visiting Grandma Aggie this August, 2009, in Oregon where they will be holding public events.Grandma Aggie's book: Grandmothers Counsel the World: Women Elders Offer Their Vision for Our Planet (Paperback)Interviewed in February 2009
