We're back with a full-court press on culture, chaos, and clutch plays. Episode 195 – Slobberknocker – brings everything from triple-doubles to terrible fits and deep dives on who's still unsigned. Let's go!
Metta World Peace breaks down the aftermath of the Malice at the Palace—from the locker room chaos to missing out on an MVP season and costing Reggie Miller a ring. He opens up about therapy, regret, David Stern's wrath, and how it became the worst day of his life.
Jim is joined by NBA historian Keith Black Trudeau to break down the hall of fame candidacy of former NBA shooting guard Richard "Rip" Hamilton. First, Jim and Keith discuss Hamilton's elite ability to move without the ball, as well as his smooth mid-range game (10:10). Next, they cover his performance in the 2004 NBA Finals and Eastern Conference Finals, how he compares to Reggie Miller, and where he ranks among the 15 best shooting guards of the 2000s (20:30). Finally, Jim and Keith try to understand Hamilton's alarmingly poor advanced metrics (53:57), before making a final call on whether or not Hamilton deserves a place in the Basketball Hall of Fame (58:51).
Metta World Peace opens up about the Malice at the Palace, his Lakers legacy, MVP snub, and Reggie Miller's lost ring. He also reveals why coaching the Knicks is his dream job, how therapy shaped his career, and what really went down behind the scenes with Kobe, Phil, and the Pacers.
On Sat.'s SUPER SEXY No Dunks, the guys discuss Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's clutch play, J-Dub's relentless drives, why the Pacers' stagnant fourth quarter count haunt the franchise forever, Scott Foster's frustrating whistle, Chet Holmgren's effort, 'Dumb & Dumber' fans sitting courtside, what jersey Reggie Miller will wear next, and more. That, plus Russell Westbrook will test free agency, deep breathing exercises, our '95 album covers, data science classes, and more.
In hour three, Crowder loved watching Matthew Tkachuk dominate in the 1st period last night. A new rule change in the Big 3 league intrigues us and it could lead to a “king of the court” style tournament at NBA all star weekend. Reggie Miller and Davion Mitchell each sport jerseys over the past few days and Crowder thinks it's wildly lame.
The 2025 NBA Finals have officially gone off-script — and the Indiana Pacers are the story of the postseason. In this episode of Missing the Point, Dave Clarke and Bob Kelly dive into how Indiana now holds a 2-1 series lead over the heavily favored Oklahoma City Thunder. We break down Tyrese Haliburton's incredible rise as the unlikely face of the NBA Finals, his clutch game-winners, and whether he's officially entered the top-10 NBA player conversation. Dave and Bob also examine how Rick Carlisle is coaching circles around the competition — drawing parallels to his 2011 Dallas Mavericks run when he shocked the world against LeBron's Heat.Beyond Haliburton, the Pacers' balanced team-first approach is on full display. We spotlight the huge performances from Andrew Nembhard, Myles Turner, Pascal Siakam, Benedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, and TJ McConnell — and explain how Indiana's deep bench and unselfish ball movement have become the secret weapon against OKC's youth and athleticism. We also analyze the Oklahoma City Thunder's struggles as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander faces Carlisle's adjustments, Chet Holmgren gets exposed in the post, and Mark Daigneault tries to keep his young roster composed under Finals pressure. Plus, we debate whether OKC's youth and future assets could ironically work against them in this moment.Other topics include:Can Halliburton surpass Reggie Miller as the most important Pacer ever? How Indiana's basketball culture fuels this underdog run.How this NBA Finals compares to historic upsets like the 2011 Mavericks vs Heat.Joe Mazzulla's failures in contrast to Carlisle and Daigneault. Why the NBA Playoffs 2025 may end with one of the biggest Finals shocks in league history. If you're a fan of NBA Finals analysis, NBA Playoffs 2025 coverage, Tyrese Haliburton's rise, Indiana Pacers vs OKC Thunder breakdowns, and NBA history, you don't want to miss this episode.

This Pacers party just keeps on rolling, this time headlined by Tyrese Haliburton's historic playoff performance. Now up 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Hysterics revel in and marvel at this massive bounce back game from the one basketball team the entire state of Indiana can get behind.Later, the discussion dives into the state of college basketball, including the enormous presence of agents in today's game, and how it compares to being a fan of your favorite NBA team... in this case, the Pacers!!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
0:00 .... Ross hello and welcome, introduces the panel, and dedicates show #158 to Jack McVeigh of the Houston Rockets who is the only NBA player to wear uniform #58. 1:33 ... Instant reaction to Tuesday night's game #4 of the Knicks/Pacers Eastern Conference Finals playoff series. 2:45 ... Bruce highlights the performances of Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Pascal Siakam who were the biggest reasons Indiana took game #4 and grabbed a 3-1 series lead. 3:53 ... Ross pointed out how it was a game of runs but Indiana never allowed New York to really get close enough to threaten the Pacers. 4:55 ... World B was disgusted with the sloppy play of the Knicks and feels they need to reduce turnovers in game 5 if they hope to extend the series. He is also concerned about the health of Karl-Anthony Towns who hurt his knee in the 4th quarter on Tuesday night. 7:23 ... The crew previews game 5 in New York and discusses if Tom Thibodeau will dial back his rotation as he did in the first two games. 10:17 ... Ross is concerned about how Towns will be perceived by the NY fans if he doesn't play in game 5 due to his knee. Bruce needs Mikal Bridges to show up big in game #5, but World B points out how hard Bridges has to work on defense against Haliburton. 14:38 ... Ross tees up a brief discussion on how Thibodeau expanded his rotation and how Josh Hart nudged him into doing it by offering to come off the bench and allow Mitchell Robinson to start games 3 and 4. 16:00 ... Western Conference Finals discussion as Oklahoma City won Monday's game #4 to put a stranglehold on their series against Minnesota. Bruce felt the tone was set in the first quarter. World B says the series is over now that OKC has a 3-1 series lead and it was impressive how they bounced back from a 42 point loss on Saturday. Ross agrees and praises Jalen Williams of the Thunder for his great performances. Everyone feels the series is over except for the final result. OKC's defense is the decisive factor. 23:25 ... Anthony Edwards needs a great performance in game 5 after scoring just 13 points in game 4. World B feels he is not holding himself accountable. 24:18 ... Ross wants to praise Minnesota's Nickiell Alexander-Walker whose great postseason performances will help him find a team willing to pay him big bucks as a free agent this off-season. 24:50 .... Shai Gilgeous-Alexander beat Nikola Jokic for the MVP Award ... the guys discuss the large margin of victory in the voting and how both players were most deserving of the award. 28:13 ... All-NBA Team discussions ... On the first team the only quibble was Donovan Mitchell making it over Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Stephen Curry. 30:33 .... On the second team, the guys discussed LeBron James making it in spite of ESPN's Brian Windhorst not voting him on any of the three All-NBA teams. 33:36 ... On the third team, Bruce bemoaned the fact that Jaylen Brown fell two games short of the 65 game minimum to qualify for All-NBA. Bruce felt he would have made the third team, but sacrificed an individual award in order to be healthier for the playoffs and Bruce is really annoyed at some Celtics fans who are blaming Brown for the team's earlier than expected postseason exit. World B felt Tyler Herro should have made third team over James Harden. Ross pointed out that if not for injury, Victor Wembanyama would also have probably made 2nd or 3rd team All-NBA and probably also won Defensive Player of the Year. 37:08 ... Smokin' Hot Take from World B ... Cade Cunningham will be first team All-NBA next season. This bodes well for the Pistons ascending into the top 4 in the eastern conference next season. 40:10 ... Final Thoughts ... Bruce on how OKC's comeback from a 42 point loss to Minnesota last weekend reminds him of two former NBA Championship teams that had similar experiences 40 seasons ago: the 1984 Celtics and the 1985 Lakers. 41:30 .... World B on how the Knicks loss to Indiana in game one was not the biggest choke in the Knicks history. It was 30 years ago when Reggie Miller made the Knicks the worst chokers in franchise history. Tyrese Haliburton will clearly haunt World B's dreams for many years to come. 46:16 ... Ross on how all the off-season transactions will be very exciting this year. And from that he says goodbye and "see you next week." TRT 46:57

Aaron Nesmith played great, making a bunch of threes with such high stakes, but let's not pretend he was defended well by OG Anunoby. The Knicks are known to give up threes, while Boston couldn't capitalize, Indiana did. Game 2 is a must-win for the Knicks. Plus, Larry David cam for the Pacers' fourth quarter comeback! The Knicks blew a big fourth quarter lead and lost game 1 to the Pacers in OT. Tyrese Haliburton did the choke sign after tying the game in regulation, reminiscent of Reggie Miller back in the day. Gio is still taking the Knicks and is encouraged by the way they played and how easy it looked at times for them to score. Gio thinks the Knicks will stomp them on Friday. Let's not forget the Knicks won the series against the Pacers when Reggie Miller did the choke move.
Hour 1 The Knicks lost Game 1 to the Pacers in overtime after blowing a significant fourth-quarter lead. Tyrese Haliburton made a "choke" gesture after tying the game in regulation, echoing Reggie Miller's past antics. Despite the loss, Gio remains confident in the Knicks, believing they will dominate Game 2, especially recalling their past series win against the Pacers after Miller's similar gesture. In other sports news, the Yankees secured a walk-off win against the Rangers with a home run from Jasson Dominguez, and the Mets defeated the Red Sox, thanks to Brett Baty's three RBIs. The show concluded with Gio reiterating his faith in the Knicks, addressing calls from concerned fans. Hour 2 We were encouraged by the Knicks' offensive performance despite their loss. Gio received an old Washington Post article from 1989 where Michael Wilbon wrote about Boomer. A caller mistakenly identified Fat Joe at the game, but Gio's research revealed it was actually one of CC Sabathia's agents. A caller suggested players should go home after a loss and speak to the media the next day. The show then featured a clip of Marv Albert interviewing Boomer after his Super Bowl loss. Jerry's update included Pacers radio audio of Haliburton's shot that they initially thought was a game-winner. In other sports, Jasson Dominguez hit a walk-off home run for the Yankees against the Rangers, and the Mets beat the Red Sox with a Francisco Lindor home run. Jerry also played his signature "What the hell is that sound?" segment. Hour 3 Tyrese Haliburton's "choke" gesture toward the Knicks in Game 1 could become a defining moment of the series. In a show of local team spirit, NYC has even renamed some streets and intersections after Knicks players, prompting Boomer to quip about taking a picture at "Precious Achiuwa Place'. Jerry's update included Kevin Harlan's call of the Pacers' overtime comeback win. Tommy Lugauer offered "3 things to know" about the loss, which Ben Stiller notably "agreed" with in a quote tweet. In other sports, Jasson Dominguez hit a walk-off home run for the Yankees (with Dave Sims on the call), and Colts owner Jim Irsay passed away at 65. NFL news included the "Tush Push" not being banned, described by Jeffrey Lurie as a "wet dream," and Aaron Glenn's early impressions of Justin Fields in camp. Potacast'in yeni bölümünde Kaan Kural ve Orkun Çolakoğlu, NBA Konferans Finalleri'ni konuşuyor.
