The Atlanta Braves and Brian Snitker today announced that the long-time manager will transition to an advisory role within the organization for the 2026 season, and will be inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame prior to a game next year. Snitker, 69, guided the Braves to 811 wins, six NL East division crowns and seven postseason berths over parts of 10 seasons in his managerial tenure, and led the club to the fourth World Series title in franchise history in 2021. He was a four-time finalist for NL Manager of the Year in his nine full seasons at the helm and won the award in 2018. He exits his managerial post with the third-most wins by any skipper in the history of the franchise. Snitker completed his 49th season in the Braves organization in 2025, and his ninth full campaign as the Braves manager. He took over on an interim basis on May 17, 2016, before being named Atlanta’s permanent manager on October 11, 2016. The native of Macon, IL, joined the organization as a non-drafted free agent in 1977. Snitker compiled an 811-668 (.548) record at the major league level, and his 811 total wins trail just Hall of Famers Bobby Cox (2,149) and Frank Selee (1,004) in franchise annals. Dating to his managerial debut, Snitker’s 811 victories were the second most by any skipper in baseball, behind just Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textIt was more fun talking about This Week in Baseball goings-on since #MLB team captains are kinda unimportant. A vestige of 19th century baseball, there are only three team captains in the Majors today. # Yankees Aaron Judge #Royals Salvador Perez, & #Rangers Marcus Semien.  Why aren't there more? We dive into that thought in this week's episode. Four of the five teams in the #ALWest are .500 or better. Who'da thunk it? Jacob DeGrom is looking like prime DeGrom for Texas. Pitching injuries continue to be the story of the 2025 season.  Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow of the #Dodgers are both on the IL. The boys from L.A. keep on winning.  How about the Tampa Bay #Rays?  They have had a bunch of home games scheduled in the early part of the season because there is not roof over Steinbrenner Field in Tampa - the temporary home of the Rays. If you didn't know, it rains a bunch in the afternoons and evenings in Tampa in the summer. So MLB is trying to avoid rainouts and scheduled the Rays for a lot of road trips after May. ]#RedSox puzzle us. Injuries yes, to Tristan Casas, hurt,  but the Sox just find ways to lose instead of ways to win. #Yankees are in 1st place by default. Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! In Episode 78 of Tablesetters, the pressure's rising — and not just in the standings. We begin in Atlanta, where the Braves were riding a four-game win streak but dealing with tension off the field. After Jarred Kelenic was thrown out for not hustling, Ronald Acuña Jr. took to social media with a since-deleted post suggesting he wouldn't have gotten the same leniency. The moment revealed cracks beneath the surface — a team starting to win games, but juggling injuries, double standards, and clubhouse dynamics. That sets the stage for a bigger conversation around leadership and accountability — one echoed in Pittsburgh, where Paul Skenes didn't hold back after another wasted gem. His words? “We owe something to the city.” The fans responded in kind, chanting “Sell the team!” at PNC Park — and maybe, just maybe, the culture is starting to shift. Elsewhere, the future is arriving fast: five top prospects made their MLB debuts this week — Nick Kurtz, Luke Keaschall, Agustín Ramírez, Edgar Quero, and Chandler Simpson. From high-profile sluggers to chaos creators on the basepaths, these call-ups aren't just placeholders — they're impact pieces with staying power. Meanwhile, in Queens, the Mets are red hot, powered by a resurgent Francisco Lindor and breakout pitcher Tylor Megill, who's become one of the best stories in the league. Add in the Marlins' Max Meyer's historic 14-K performance, Hunter Brown's extended scoreless streak, and a growing list of starters under a 2.00 ERA — and suddenly, there's a wave of young arms reshaping the power structure. We also dive into the crowded AL Rookie of the Year race, where Kristian Campbell, Jackson Jobe, Jacob Wilson, and Kameron Misner have emerged as early leaders in what may be the most competitive rookie field in years. And yes, the Twins might already be cooked. We'll explain why Minnesota's collapse is worse than it looks. Plus: – Who's real in the Sub-2.00 ERA Club – Red Hot: Who's scorching? – Ice Cold: Which players are struggling? – And a fiery “Take a Pitch / Swing Away” debate: Is the NL's dominance bad for baseball? Max Fried shines in rain as Braves offense heats up

Headed in to Tuesday night, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher had not won a game in his last seven starts. The Braves offense, headed by first baseman Matt Olson by putting up nine runs in the first two innings, with Olson driving in five of those. Then the rains came. After an 86 minute rain delay, Max Fried told Braves manager Brian Snitker that he wanted to go back in the game, and Snitker obliged. Fried ended up going five innings in totality while giving up only one earned run, and the Braves bullpen was able to hold on for a 10-6 victory. This was a huge win for Max Fried, who since returning from the IL has slowly but surely increased his workload and gets a much deserved win. While Olson did most of the heavy lifting for the Braves offense, an unsung hero of Monday night's game was second baseman Whit Merrifield, who went five for five at the plate and scored twice. This presents a unique opportunity for the Braves once Ozzie Albies comes back, as Merrifield has hit right around .400 since joining the club. Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael talk about Fried coming on for the stretch run, and what the Braves may do with their all of a suddenly found depth.
