Are we living in the last days? Is the conflict in Israel connected to what is predicted in the book of Revelation? What does the Bible say about the end of the world? While the church has shared common points of agreement "Mere Eschatology," we have also differed in many areas. This has led to different ways of interpreting the Bible's apocalyptic literature (preterist, historicist, idealist, futurist), different views on the relationship between Israel and the Church, if and when the rapture will happen, and understanding the nature of the millennium (historic premillennialism, dispensational premillennialism, postmillennialism, and amillennialism). Rather than be overwhelmed by these views, the goal of this show is to ground you in "Mere Eschatology," help you see the pros and cons of each view, but most importantly to help you see the apologetic and practical significance of studying eschatology. It's a topic that many shy away from, including myself, but I think we are missing out when we do. This show will explain why. Kenneth Samples is a senior research scholar at Reasons to Believe and an adjunct instructor of apologetics at Biola University. Samples is the author of many books, including "Classic Christian Thinkers," "Without a Doubt," and "God Among Sages." The book that we are discussing today is titled "Christian End Game: Careful Thinking about the End Times."
This is Part 7 of the overarching series on Christian History. Was the intention of the Gospel to split Christians into a dizzying array of denominations? When I was posting about The Chosen earlier this year, I received a LOT of comments expressing concern about some of cast members being Roman Catholic and participating on the Hallow app (a Roman Catholic prayer app). I thought that this would be a good opportunity to discuss the complex relationship between Protestants and Roman Catholics. This will be a 2-part discussion. Part 1 will provide an overview of the subject focusing on beliefs that we have in common. Part 2 will include an interview with theologian, Kenneth Samples, about the distinctives between Protestants and Roman Catholics.

As a philosopher and theologian, Kenneth Samples is passionate about encouraging Christians to think. This is why he was disturbed when discovering this quote from Dennis Prager found in Kent Hughes's, Disciples of a Godly Man. “One thing I noticed about Evangelicals is that they do not read. They do not read the Bible, they do not read the great Christian thinkers, they have never heard of Aquinas. If they're Presbyterian, they've never read the founders of Presbyterianism. I do not understand that. As a Jew, that's confusing to me. The commandment of study is so deep in Judaism that we immerse ourselves in study. God gave us a brain, aren't we to use it in his service? When I walk into an Evangelical Christian's home and see a total of 30 books, most of them best-sellers, I do not understand. I have bookcases of Christian books, and I am a Jew. Why do I have more Christian books than 98% of the Christians in America? That is so bizarre to me.” The life of the mind is more than simply enriching. It is crucial to the future of Christianity. Philosopher and theologian Kenneth Richard Samples has a great passion to help people understand the reasonableness and relevance of Christianity's truth claims. He is the senior research scholar at Reasons to Believe and the author of several books, including "Classic Christian Thinkers", "7 Truths That Changed the World", and "God Among Sages". Humans have the ability of communication, speech, and reason---unique to all of the other animals on the earth. Ken Samples joins Bill to discuss the importance of taking ownership in our study of our Christian faith and heritage, because it can draw us closer to God. They also discuss the importance of staying in humility as we gain in knowledge and wisdom.
According to re-known philosopher Descartes, " I think, therefore I am." But what happens when a scholar, for whom philosophy is not only his joy but also his livelihood, has his ability to think suddenly stripped away? Does he become a "non-being"? Ken Samples joins Bill to discuss what he learned about consciousness through his trial with brain lesions.

Last time we looked at the intriguing concept of ‘properly basic belief' and what it means to us when we ask the question ‘how can I know that God exists'. In this episode we conclude the dialogue on how we can know Christianity is true by analyzing the role arguments play here. We are back with episode two of Natural Theology!! Throughout this series we explore in bite-sized format the question if there are any good arguments for the existence of God. Theology was crowned the queen of sciences by Thomas Aquinas. In this second part we look at whether philosophy trumps theology by the magisterial use of reason or whether theology reigns as king over philosophy. Unpacking this question is none other than Dr. William Lane Craig, one of the world's leading philosopher and theologian. Dr. Craig expounds on what it takes for a philosopher to become a theologian, what are the different branches of theology and much more! He also responds to objections against philosophy raised by prominent Christian radio hosts. Tying it all at the end is Dr. Craig's reply to a question sent in by the legendary Dr. Alexander Pruss! "Does God command genocide in the Bible?" Have an answer for that one? This week, Steve and the gang chat with author and professor Kenneth Samples about the changing role of apologetics in a post-modern culture. The post Kenneth Samples | Christianity Cross-Examined | Steve Brown, Etc. appeared first on Key Life.
Are you looking at reality or illusion? Ken Samples discusses the duality of our physical world and the more important spiritual reality of Christ's authority through Plato's allegory of a cave.
*This encore episode originally aired on October 5, 2020 Ken Samples discusses why most Americans deny Jesus is God and asks a simple question; what did Jesus think about himself? Going deeper Ken looks at being human, if God made us in his image, then he always intended to become one of us.
Science is king above all! That's the notion prevalent across the atheistic spectrum. It's also one that's gaining traction among the laypeople. The reasoning is that since we can do physical tests and understand the natural tangible world and that since scientific discoveries better our life it must therefore be the greatest discipline – the pathway to truth. Often times this thinking hurls philosophy to the side leaving philosophy subject to misguided and disillusioned ridicule. Philosopher and theologian Kenneth Samples, who works alongside an astronomer, astrophysicist, biochemist at Reasons To Believe, points out that such thinking is akin to chopping off the branch one sits upon while aspiring to fly. No longer are questioners satisfied with evidence that Christianity is true. They also want to know if it’s relevant and, most importantly . . . if it’s good. In Christianity Cross-Examined, Kenneth R. Samples boldly steps into the courtroom where Christianity is on trial. Going beyond merely presenting a systematic case for the Christian faith, Samples dives into specific accusations against it, from the conventional (If God created everything, then who created God?) to the controversial (Why doesn’t the Bible condemn slavery?). Does Christianity stand up under cross-examination? You be the judge. Professor Samples is a philosopher, theologian, and senior research scholar at Reasons to Believe, an organization that researches and communicates how the divinely inspired words of the Bible harmonize with reason and the facts of nature. He holds degrees in philosophy, social science, and an MA in theological studies. He is also the author of many numerous books listed below.
