Friends Stella, Auggie, and Chuck decide to take revenge on some local bullies, led by Tommy, who's dating Chuck's sister Ruth. After removing his feces from the toilet to hand to Tommy, and throwing the requisite eggs at his car, the bullies track the friends to a drive-in movie theater showing Night of the Living Dead. That's when Stella, Auggie, and Chuck hop in the car of Ramon, a mysterious drifter who has come to their town to escape the draft. Afterwards, the four make their way to a dilapidated home on the edge of town that once belonged to the wealthy Bellows family, who mysteriously disappeared shortly after the town's titular mill shut down. Tag dan De Gebakken Peren even. We geloofden echt in elkaar. When their act of revenge on the local bully goes a little too well they're forced into hiding in the car of a mysterious young man named Ramon, who is running from his own demons. Together the teens explore a local haunted house, where they find a book of scary stories written by the long-dead recluse daughter of a powerful local family. Stella takes the book home, seemingly upsetting the spirit of the author, who begins magically writing new stories from beyond the grave featuring Stella's friends & classmates as the characters. And when the characters in the stories meet a grisly end, so do their real life counterparts.** You may notice that Jamie is mysteriously absent from our roundtable & that her take on the movie comes without preamble. We experienced some technical difficulties on this episode, but have tried to make it as seamless as possible. Sorry, y'all. **Next up, we'll be reviewing the first full-length feature from our old pals, Radio Silence (V/H/S, Southbound).
