Welcome to October 2023, which, through no intentional planning of our own, has become Star Trek Animation Month for Out of Contreks. In the first of four episodes this month on animated Star Trek episodes, Ryan and Brady talk about the first episode of Prodigy we've covered on the show. We also discuss the potential of an episode like this, compressed storytelling time, and which main Trek cast would be the best hang!

This week on Random Trek, Captain Ingle and I are pleased to bring you not one, but two episodes of Star Trek. Oddly enough, they both happen to be animated episodes of Star Trek. With the season finale of Star Trek Prodigy last week, this new show is now fair game for our randomizer. And what episode of this latest series will we be taking a look at? It's the episode Time Amok, in which our intrepid heroes find themselves in a conundrum involving time, a frequent concept in Star Trek. The other episode is Yesteryear, which is the second episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series. Will we finally have an episode of this series that we actually like? Star Trek: Prodigy, Series 1, Episode 8. First broadcast on Saturday, 22 January 2022. It's a heartwarming rite of passage for our youngest Star Trek crew — their very first encounter with a baffling new kind of temporal anomaly. And it's not just any temporal anomaly: it's a metaphor for the difficulties they have co-operating as a crew and an opportunity to overcome those difficulties. Plus, it gives Rok-Tahk the chance to be sweet, vulnerable, clever and magnificent in turn. And who doesn't want to see that?

Because it's a show with Janeway, even a Hologram version, we get weird time stuff. In this one, a Tachyon Storm has bad juju on the Protostar drive and fractures the ship and its crew into different phases of time. They have to learn to each work together to solve the problem, with only hologram Janeway to communicate. While they're at it, they must also learn to believe in themselves. It's a really good episode of Sci-Fi, and Jude makes the most stunning prediction that left even Brent speechless. We'll dive into all the goodness of this episode, read a brand new email and discuss:favorite momentsthings we learnedquestions we have going forwardStar Trek Messageswhat we think will happen in the next episodeJude and Brent would love to hear from you. Will the son like a Star Trek show? Will the dad like a kid's show? Let's find out together as Brent and Jude explore Murf's Turf, the brand new series from Nickelodeon and Paramount Plus, Star Trek: Prodigy.

This week, Mike and Emilie are joined by Jude and Brent Allen of the Murf's Turf Podcast to discuss "Time Amok." A tachyon storm threatens to destroy the U.S.S. Protostar and the crew needs to work together in a unique way to prevent it. Each one of the crew is separated into different parts of time on board the Protostar, with their only way of working together being through Hologram Janeway. They each face circumstances they're unfamiliar with, while a new Drednok is being built in the vehicle replicator to take the ship back over. How will they be able to prevent catastrophe? Will the crew learn from this experience going forward? And, will The Diviner once again gain control of the Protostar? We discuss that and more on this episode of Discovering Trek: Prodigy!

Time bubbles! Jimmy Akin, Dom Bettinelli, and Fr. Cory Sticha discuss this latest episode of Prodigy, incuding the common Trek plot of time looping; the lesson about working together as a crew; and a major development for one character. Plus the chicken, fox, and grain logic problem.
Prodigy brings us the most popular of Star Trek recurring plot devices: Time Travel, and it does it in a way very reminiscent of Voyager. Nach, Adam and Emily recap 'Time Amok' and try their hardest not to mistake it for 'Amok Time'. Get bonus content on Patreon See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Welcome to Star Trek Prodigy S1E8: Time Amok. In this episode the crew is torn apart and must find a way to trust each other across oscillating time!
RebingeIt Brings You: Star Trek Prodigy S1E8 Time Amok Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Star Trek Prodigy Season 1 Episode 8: Time Amok. This episode brings us a classic Star Trek problem of time running amok while the crew needs to work like a team while out of contact with each other. Time Amok In this week's episode, Janeway worries the crew is coming undone and tries some team building. That does not go well and Dal ends up admitting they aren't who Janeway thinks they are. In Star Trek irony, as the team is torn apart they are forced to trust each other even when they can't see or interact. Rok-Tahk is the team's last hope and she better figure out what to do before the Protostar explodes. Meanwhile, the Diviner is twirling his moustache and finding ways to get to his precious ship. Our Kid Correspondent If you haven't heard our 6-year old correspondent Maahi (from our previous episodes), then this is the time to tune in. She always tells us what she thinks about the episode and what (if anything) she's learned from it! What's this rebinge thing? Normally it's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about....but now we're bringing you something new! Prodigy is our first dive into podcasting new Trek. We've separated the saucer section!! We are now doing TWO episodes each week. Our weekend review installments will be covering the latest Star Trek episodes, while our topical episodes will be discussing other Star Trek topics during the week! This weekend, Kevin, Mike, and David are discussing Star Trek: Prodigy, Season 1, Episode 7, "First Con-tact," where they debate Nandi's impact on Ferengi representation and the Prime Directive's relationship to the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition, plus why the gospel is for flourishing and not colonization. Then, in their review of Season 1 Episode 8, "Time Amok," they explore how the crew of the Protostar is developing as a family and how their journey might become a good example for communities of faith. It's episode 64 of A Strange New Pod, as Brittany, Girafe, Hawk, and Julian review what is quite possibly Star Trek Prodigy's best episode yet, "Time Amok."What happens when things get timey-whimey and wibbly-wobbly aboard the Protostar? With the ship facing destruction after flying into a temporal anomaly, what happens to the crew as they get stuck in different pockets of space-time? Only with the help of holo Janeway can the crew come together to tackle the issue. The crew breaks down all the happenings of episode 108.Plus, all the Trek Tuesday news and happenings including Strange New Worlds release date and so much more on this edition of ASNP.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/astrangenewpod)

[Prodigy review starts at 28:07] Tony and Laurie start with all the recently announced premiere dates, renewals, and episode counts for Star Trek: Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, and Lower Decks, and speculate on what the next series to be created might be. They discuss Discovery‘s recent GLAAD Award nomination, John de Lancie’s latest updates on Q’s role and personality in season 2 of Picard, the success (and sheer entertainment value) of the TrekTalks online fundraiser, the new Q figure from Exo-6, the new toys coming our way from Playmates, and the arrival of a new episode of The Shuttle Pod. Then they review “Time Amok,” the latest episode of Star Trek: Prodigy, and how it won their hearts and raised a lot of fascinating questions. They wrap up with a video of the many, many mentions of the number 47 in ’90s-era Trek (although it’s in this week’s Prodigy episode too) and a Trek fan on Twitter who’s watching every episode in the entire franchise alphabetically by episode.

Just my quick thoughts on what could occur in this episode airing Thursday at midnight on 20th.
