During the 2017 adaptation of Kino’s Journey, the hosts of the Otaku Spirit Animecast took a moment to watch the 2003 version to see if the changes they made to the arcs hold up. This is a spoiler free review of Kino’s Journey (2003). The opening for this episode is the OP for Kino’s Journey called “All the Way” by Mikuni Shimokawa. The closing for this episode is the ED for Kino’s Journey called “The Beautiful World” by Ai Maeda.
Eli gets to compare and contrast one of his favorite series and its earlier incarnation, while confusing and scaring Lilith all the way with tales of whimsy, tragedy, and a sheep demolition derby. For this episode of Your Uncle's Beach House we are joined by returning guest timeandpatience to watch the 2003 show Kino's Jouney! A genuinely excellent show that I can't recommend enough; thank you to timeandpatience for the suggestion and I hope everyone enjoys the episode. In a few weeks, we'll be back with Haibane Renmei! See you all then.
Not a hoax! Not an imaginary story! 4-Panel is back! It's been a little bit of an unplanned hiatus, but the boys are back with a new fortnightly show. Join them for a round-up of the latest offerings from Turnaround books. This week, much like Kino herself, they're on a journey all across comicdom with the aforementioned manga, the sensationally named Superior Spider-Man: Otto-matic and Captain Marvel: Falling Star. Then, they'll be stopping by Conan Corner to check out the Savage Sword of Conan: Conan the Gambler and Age of Conan: Valeria, before soaring the uncharted skies of Marvel's newest hero in Aero: Before the Storm. After all of that there's just enough time to check out the first volume of Umi Sakurai's manga A Man and His Cat before, finally, our heroes tackle the seemingly endless expanse that is Absolute Carnage. It's Doc's first patron request audio essay! And...it's become a multi-part series! In setting out to review Kino's Journey, Doc realized there was so much in the very first episode, that he had to make a thing about just that. At the time, he had Evangelion on the brain as well, and this is the result! Special thanks to Emily for requesting Kino's Journey for me to review via Patreon. Get ready to blast off with Andrew and Rob on an intergalactic voyage of discovery! Join them as they uncover the most bizarre races in the Marvel universe. Will Rob be able to guess the alien race's backstory from just their name? Obviously not... but what elaborate nonsense will he come up with instead? It's going to be scaly, slimey and filled with a surprising amount of Hawkeye. Then it's back down to Earth for the usual comic reviews. This week we have more from Kino's Journey and Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire, League of Legends: Lux and The Bad Bad Place. Breathe in... and out. In... and out. Close your eyes and relax as the guys tackle Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World, otherwise known as Kino's Journey. A nice palette cleanser of a show where things are perfectly normal and there aren't any magical crystals or gods, just talking motorcycles. Huh. Ok then. Couldn't go one show without something coming out of nowhere. Series: Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World - 2003Episode: 8

You know to get the full experience, because really that's all the time you need. I mean, you can't see the whole thing all at once, you have to give yourself reason to come back. Switching things up after the last episode, CC kicks off the show by talking about the colorful Battle Royale slaughterfest Jūni Taisen: Zodiac War and why the series is a lackluster entry in that specific genre. Following that, John focuses on the fractured tale of Kino's Journey - the Beautiful World- and the gang discusses its many different shortcomings. CC then wraps things up with his Review of Girls' Last Tour, a sorrowful tale about the end of humanity, that manages to pull you in with its sympathetic, goofy main characters and great world building. Originally recorded: February 18, 2018 Almost 15 years after a gunslinging traveler & her talking motorad's original adventures, Kino & Hermes now once again ride across the anime world. Looking for beauty in the strangest of places, and giving us a brand new English dub cast to experience. Donning their own travel gear and riding upon their talking goats, travelers NoahClue, Jamal, Jet & SpacemanHardy explore this revival into Kino's world of bizarre countries, conflicting philosophies and an array of unusual residents. We've finally made it to the end of the Fall 2017 season and the end of our first full year of anime podcasts. It's been an incredibly fun year for anime, and this Fall season was no different. I feel like we've learned a lot this year, but also a lot from this last season of anime. From Anime-Gataris, we learned that even when things are looking down, your virtual anime friends will help you fight your battles. From Juuni Taisen we learned that ignorance is bliss. From Inuyashki, we learned that Ichirou actually had a son this whole time...who knew? From Recovery of an MMO Junkie, we learned that pink bikini armor is a weapon of mass destruction, no matter who is wearing it. From Kino's Journey, we learned that THESE...SHEEP ARE ON FIIIIIRRRRE. From Girls' Last Tour, we learned...a lot. From the Ancient Magus' Bride we learned that anime can have Disney-level song sequences, that can actually work. From Blood Blockade Battlefront we learned that Leonardo's sister is a better open-field tackler than anyone on the New York Giants' roster. From Land of the Lustrous, we learned that cutting apart monsters just reveals the cute little puppies inside of them. And finally, we learned that sometimes Leo is right about romance anime, even when he's wrong, like in the tragic case of Just Because.Recorded January 8, 2017.Timestamps:4:55 - Anime-Gataris (Eps. 11-12)21:10 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 11-12)33:28 - Just Because (Eps. 11-12)55:37 - Inuyashiki (Ep. 11)1:03:14 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (OVA)1:09:33 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 11-12)1:27:44 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 11-12)1:40:40 - The Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 11-12)1:53:26 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 11-12)2:04:19 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 11-12)2:24:30 - Final Scores
We've made it to the penultimate podcast of the Fall 2017 season and we ring in the New Year by talking about weeks 9 and 10. We were having so much fun this podcast that we dropped all pretense of professionalism and just had a Cowboys and Indians fake gunfight in the middle of the Juuni Taisen review. This week, Anime-Gataris showcased the best OP of the season by far in its wacky episode 10. Just Because inched closer to a very disappointing ending, but Bcom still has his fingers crossed. Inuyashiki tried to outdo 9/11 with plane crashes and it was dumb. MMO Junkie is over...kind of? Kino's Journey aired an episode from the original season in the wrong order. Girls Last Dab discovered the meaning of life and it was because of an encounter with robots. This is clearly the most NieR: Automata of shows. Chise got some much needed support and advice from the people around her. Blood Blockade's K.K. proved she is the most badass mom of all time and, finally the Lustrous gems went through some drama as Bort took a shine to Phos and left Dia in the dust.Recorded January 2, 2018.Timestamps:4:15 - Anime-Gataris (Eps. 9 & 10)18:47 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 9 & 10)29:38 - Just Because (Eps. 9 & 10)47:17 - Inuyashiki (Eps. 9 & 10)1:02:37 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (Eps. 9 & 10)1:11:35 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 9 & 10)1:26:22 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 9 & 10)1:36:57 - Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 9 & 10)1:48:32 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 9 & 10)2:01:01 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 9 & 10)
Bcom and Leo are on to weeks 7 and 8 of the Fall 2017 anime season. This week Anime-Gataris dropped all pretense as the words Waga na wa Yuirin!!! were yelled by voice actress Rie Takahashi, confirming this show is indeed part of the KonoSubaverse, and is actually the season 3 we've been waiting for. Juuni Taisen spent two episodes on really boring characters that we'd just like to put behind us, and move on from. Just Because finally hooks Leo with some intriguing romantic drama as Ena finally starts to take her selfie more seriously. Inuyashiki "kills" but then doesn't kill two characters in a sequence that confused the shit out of Bcom. Yuuta and Moriko in MMO Junkie have finally received their version 1.0.0 patch and can start really playing the game they're meant to be playing. Kino's Journey continues to raise intriguing questions about humanity, even if it doesn't quite live up to the original in Bcom's opinion. The Girls dab their way through the Windows 3D Pipes screensaver and bake some cookies. The Ancient Magus Bride slowly but surely becomes more confident in her abilities and has gained a sweet doggo sidekick. Blood Blockade continues to be a platform for Bones' animators to unleash their wildest creative urges. And Phos is now so many gems in one that we're surprised she doesn't have multiple personality disorder...though that's probably coming.Recorded December 17, 2017.Timestamps:1:24 - Leo sells rock climbing4:20 - Bcom muses about Star Wars: The Last Jedi (no spoilers)6:27 - Animegataris (Eps. 7-8)19:32 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 7-8)28:18 - Just Because (Eps. 7-8)44:16 - Inuyashiki: The Last Hero (Eps. 7-8)1:01:36 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (Eps. 7-8)1:11:21 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 7-8)1:26:47 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 7-8)1:40:27 - The Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 7-8)1:53:53 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 7-8)2:05:45 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 7-8)
This week Leo and Bcom catch up with weeks 5 and 6 of the Fall 2017 anime season. As we hit midseason several of the shows we're following really started to hit their stride.Animegataris showed us one of the most authentic comiket episodes we've seen to date. Juuni Taisen got brutal, and ended some plotlines maybe a bit too early. Just Because continues to be totally fantastic and untouchable, and Leo will definitely not complain about it in this podcast. Inuyashiki places internet trolls in its sights this time around, and the MMO Junkies leave the internet to finally clear up some misunderstandings in person. Kino isn't even the main character in her own journey anymore, it seems, but the Girls are making the most of their last tour as they discover the magic of music amidst a passing rain shower. The Ancient Magus' Slave continues to annoy Bcom by teasing romance between the protagonists, but at least the King and Queen have arrived with the royal jiggle physics. Butlers and mosquitoes wreak havoc in Blood Blockade, and finally Land of the Lustrous gets really nerdy with its geology references.Recorded December 6, 2017.Timestamps:3:02 - Animegataris (Eps. 5-6)14:38 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 5-6)28:51 - Just Because (Eps. 5-6)49:17 - Inuyashiki: The Last Hero (Eps. 5-6)1:08:55 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (Eps. 5-6)1:20:31 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 5-6)1:36:06 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 5-6)1:37:53 - Leo's roommate plays CoD:WW2 while acting out Black Clover1:52:40 - The Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 5-6)2:09:44 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 5-6)2:17:47 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 5-6)2:37:19 - Midseason Cuts?
Enough premium customers purchased and listened to the Fall 2017 season impressions, so we are proud to now finally release a podcast covering episodes 3 and 4 of the 10 shows we chose to watch. Thank you for purchasing the season pass for this podcast and we hope to fully monetize our listenership to the greatest extent possible as soon as we learn how to open a bank account. But seriously, this podcast is a little late and it's all Bcom's fault. Nonetheless, we soldier on and this time we talk about Animegataris' brilliant referential humor, Juuni Taisen's awesome, if inconsistent, animation, and Just Because opening up as many romantic possibilities as Gamers did. Also, Inuyashiki episode 4 opens with a scene that blew our minds, and some yakuza guy as well. That MMO junkie still hasn't recovered, Kino wasn't even the main character in her latest journey, and the Girls briefly added a guy to their Last Tour, but he took a wrong turn because of a mapquest that put them all in grave danger. Cats make the best Kings in Ancient Magus' Bride, Blood Blockade continues to be as over-the-top as you could ask for, and the most fanservicey of snails transforms into something resembling a Jigglypuff as we close out the episode with Land of the Lustrous.Recorded November 25, 2017.Timestamps:1:00 - Brief thoughts on Black Clover, Garo: Vanishing Line, and A Little Sister's All You Need4:12 - Animegataris (Eps. 3-4)17:39 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 3-4)26:22 - Just Because (Eps. 3-4)40:57 - Inuyashiki: The Last Hero (Eps. 3-4)55:20 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (Eps. 3-4)1:04:36 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 3-4)1:16:03 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 3-4)1:24:08 - The Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 3-4)1:29:02 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 3-4)1:37:32 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 3-4)
Released in 2003, the first Kino’s Journey anime is an episodic affair that centers around an AI-imbued motorad named Hermes and its rider, a traveler named Kino. They visit country (town) after country and stay no more than three days at a time to observe the inhabitants and their customs. The series, based on a series of light novels (…no wait, keep reading!), offers settings not bound by any solid sense of chronology; countries can combine such disparate genre elements as sci-fi and Western, and the differences between countries can also make them seem centuries apart. Kino’s Journey is one of Ink’s favorite anime, and Jared just watched it for the first time. Find out what we have to say and then maybe go grab yourself a copy. (The sale Jared and Ink refer to during the episode is over, but the show is still a steal at $20.)

On this episode of Bakacast, we start off with a listener question that tasks us with deciding Netflix's anime production plans that prompts us to dig deep for both obvious and obscure choices. We also add Inuyashiki to our watch list, a show that has two very strong intro episodes but still gives us a little pause due to, you know, it being written by Hiroya Oku, the dude who also made the infamous Gantz. Meanwhile, Garo impresses, Whales disappoint, and Kino's Journey sparks a discussion about the value of different adaptation styles.
Leo and Bcom finish off the remainder of their Fall 2017 first impressions with 15 shows that air on Fridays and Saturdays, alone. But, in the end, they need to narrow the anime season down to the 10 shows they most want to watch, and this season there's actually a large enough variety of shows that we have some disagreements over what we should be watching!I mean, who knew that Dies Irae would be such an articulate and intelligently written parody of the current state of U.S. politics? Or that Love Live! Sunshine!! season 2 would play a hilarious goof on its fanbase by rescreening season 1 over again and pretending that it's actually different. Oh these anime studios and their amazing practical jokes. We can't decide if Kino is a boy or a girl, but what's most important is that Kino is Kino, and that the girls from Land of the Lustrous have nice legs. Ancient Magus' Bride seems to have watched Britney Spears' "I'm a Slave For You" music video a few too many times. They've also gone past March in March Comes in Like a Lion, so I guess March Came Like a...wait...that seems...no, I can see why they stuck with the original title.Anyway, enjoy the podcast, and I'm sorry you had to scroll down so far to get to the timestamps!Recorded November 1, 2017.Timestamps:2:19 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie12:29 - Dies Irae20:51 - Kino's Journey35:17 - Garo: Vanishing Line39:32 - Girls' Last Tour44:09 - Code: Realize - Guardian of Birth45:25 - The iDOLM@STER SideM53:56 - The Ancient Magus' Bride1:04:12 - BLEND-S1:07:21 - Leo explains the origins of the term Yaoi1:07:45 - TWOCAR1:12:24 - Love Live! Episode 17 of the Key Frames podcast, a podcast about anime. Better late than never, right? Ben, Andy, Jeff, and Jon try to make their conversation timeless by covering both mecha anime from the eighties and this season's newest anime. Does it work? Who cares! Unfazed, they're joined by Duncan for an introspective look at Kino's Journey: the Beautiful World.
[RECORDED ON 4TH AUGUST 2017] It's time for the next episode of our podcast to conclude your week, but it's a slightly different one then usual as this was recorded the day after our last episode and is all about your questions leftover from the last episode as well as topics from our Random Topic Generator. Featuring a mix of topics suggested from you listeners along with some our own too. Subject covered in this episode include if the gap between mega shows and lesser shows in an anime season is widening or not - which ends being a pretty detailed discussion along with the possibility of releasing Anohana, Mushi-shi and Kino's Journey. Plus whether old shows that were on VHS but never made the jump to DVD/Blu-ray could be released, drinking a shot of alcohol from an anime themed ice sculpture, elevator pitches for anime shows and even the topic of if we (Team Anime Limited) weren't working in the anime industry what profession would we be in. A fun show as always and it’s available for your listening pleasure now. We hope you enjoy listening to it and we'll be back with a regular style episode next week. NOTE: As always please note this podcast contains strong language and any views expressed by individuals in this podcast do not reflect those of Anime Limited.
Graham and Brendan man the podcast all by themselves. The topic: "What TV show deserves to have a good videogame adaptation?" Graham desires a road trip game based on anime Kino's Journey, whereas Brendan wants a cop management sim of The Wire. The listeners also have their say. But we've also been playing things. Limbo follow-up Inside gets the pair disagreeing over dark humour, while Brendan has been hunkering down in the sandbox multiplayer war-mongering of Foxhole. Thank you for your patience. To reward you we are proud to present a new episode of the U.S. Anime Review!Download the Episode Here!On this episode we talk about the importance in supporting the anime/manga industry. Dan talks about a show he recently watched, Kino's Journey, and Chris raves about Giant Killing. Nolan talks about the end of Kenichi and why he hates relationships in anime. For the main review we talk about Naoki Urasawa's Monster, which I previously reviewed here. For some unknown reason Viz is refusing to release further box sets of what I believe to be the best anime series in recent years. Help support awareness of this anime by listening to our opinions and seeing if the show is right for you, and then buy it!We wrap things up with a special announcement that you will only know about by listening to the podcasts! Join us next time as we discuss Cowboy Bebop, Until Next Time Space Cowboy...
To download Right-Click Here I think it's safe to say that after so many episodes our listeners can understand that Wingzrow being speechless over a subject says a lot about it. Tonight we review Maniac Mansion as well as it's sequel Day of The Tentacle, and the anime Kino's Journey.
Okay this show has a small news section this time. But that's cool, right? I mean, you don't need to have huge blocks of news everytime, correct? Variety is the spice of life. I don't know what is the body of life, the meat, if you will, but variety apparently makes it taste good. And nobody wants to eat nasty meat without spice. But it is hard to market spicy nasty meat patties, so I think !XTREME! BERGERZ is a better name in this case. It is not a classy name, but mass consumerism is what sells in mass quantities.
