EPISODE SUMMARY The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale gave fans a lot to process, from Matt Murdock's public downfall to Kingpin's collapse and the possible setup for a much bigger street-level Marvel story. Frank is joined by Megan from Vigilante Vibes and Thomas to break down what worked, what felt messy, and why this season may be the strongest version of Born Again so far. The conversation covers comic book connections like Devil on Cell Block D, Bullseye's future, Heather and Muse, BB's role as a rising journalist, and how Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Hand, Typhoid Mary, and even Mayor Luke Cage could factor into what comes next. The crew also digs into the courtroom scene, the hallway fight, New York as a living part of the story, and whether Marvel should keep Daredevil in his own corner or bring him deeper into the MCU. TIMESTAMPS AND TOPICS - 00:00 Introduction and Megan's First Reaction to Season 2 - 01:04 Devil on Cell Block D, Matt's Arrest, and Daredevil's Identity - 03:10 BB, Journalism, Peter Parker, and Street-Level Marvel Connections - 08:16 Bullseye, Mr. Charles, and Marvel's Grounded Villains - 11:26 Heather, Muse, Lady Muse, and Darker Comic Book Influences - 14:33 Spider-Man, The Hand, Elektra, and Season 3 Theories - 18:04 The Rose, Typhoid Mary, Buck, and Kingpin's Future - 19:38 Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk's Complicated Relationship - 23:10 Thomas Joins, CGI Talk, and the Finale's Action Scenes - 25:16 The Hallway Fight, New York Rising, and White Tiger - 28:35 The Courtroom Scene and Matt's Legal Strategy - 33:58 New York as a Character and the MCU's Street-Level Future - 44:00 Favorite and Least Favorite Moments From the Season - 52:00 Final Scores, Fan Reactions, Foggy, and Closing Thoughts KEY TAKEAWAYS - Megan felt Season 2 raised the stakes, leaned more into the comics, and showed the actors had a stronger grip on their characters. - The group spent a lot of time on Matt's arrest and the idea that the show may be setting up a Devil on Cell Block D style story. - BB stood out as one of the season's strongest additions, with the potential to become a major street-level MCU connector through journalism, Peter Parker, and the wider New York media world. - The finale's courtroom scene was one of the biggest highlights, giving Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio a strong showcase while pushing the season's themes about masks, power, and public truth. - The crew liked how the season made New York feel alive again, especially through the city rising against Kingpin's system and the anti-vigilante task force. - Final scores landed strong overall: Thomas gave the finale a 7 out of 10 but the season a 9 out of 10, Frank gave the season an 8 out of 10, and Megan gave it a 10 out of 10. QUOTES "Season two really upped the ante a lot, and it's a lot more comic accurate." "BB won the battle that killed her uncle." "Just because they both can aim good doesn't make them the same character." "This was the city of New York rising, all doing their own hallway scene." "The court scenes are so integral to who Daredevil is as a character." "This feels like a New York that is the home to heroes." Frank and Squeaks dive headfirst into James Gunn's Superman, the movie that's recharging DC with new energy and old-school heart. They break down everything—from the pacing that mimics a stack of comics, to character performances, visual highs and lows, and why this might be one of the most human versions of Superman we've ever seen. They also debate Guy Gardner's scene-stealing turn, Lex Luthor's layered villainy, the potential setup for Bizarro, and what it all means for the future of the DC Universe. This one's packed, passionate, and full of geeky joy. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Welcome and Opening Thoughts 00:27 Initial Reactions and Hype Level 01:13 Fast Pacing and Comic Book Feel 02:10 James Gunn's Signature Style 03:30 Thoughts on the Plot and Accessibility for New Fans 04:20 Lex Luthor's Role and Future Setup 05:36 All-Star Superman Comparisons 06:00 Kryptonian Parents Twist and Its Impact 08:30 Cancel Culture and Superman's PR Weakness 09:58 Mr. Terrific and the Unexpected Standout 11:00 Guy Gardner's Surprising Depth and Humor 13:15 Hawkgirl and the Performance Letdown 15:00 The New Superman: Human, Hopeful, and Heroic 18:16 Lois Lane's Portrayal and Rachel Brosnahan's Performance 20:00 Daily Planet Crew: A Bit Too Involved? 22:30 Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor and the Two-Layered Villain 25:00 Engineer and Ultraman Discussion + Bizarro Theory 29:00 Visual Storytelling and Cinematography Highlights 32:00 CGI Thoughts and Krypto's Role 36:00 Green Lantern Constructs: Unique and Personality-Driven 38:30 Superman's Power Progression and Final Battle 40:30 Tone and Themes: Can This Superman Fit with Batman? 43:00 Final Thoughts on Justice League Potential 44:00 Favorite Scenes and End-Credit Surprises 47:00 Final Scores and Rewatchability 50:00 IMAX Worthy? Our Theatrical Recommendation 51:00 Closing Remarks Key Takeaways: James Gunn's Superman blends nostalgic charm with a modern, fast-paced narrative. David Corenswet's Superman is emotionally grounded and feels deeply human. Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, delivers a fresh take that balances public genius with private obsession. Guy Gardner and Mr. Terrific both exceed expectations, with standout scenes that highlight their personalities. The film's pacing mirrors a comic book run—nonstop but rewarding. The twist about Superman's Kryptonian parents adds emotional weight without breaking canon. Visual storytelling uses lighting—especially sunlight—as a powerful symbolic tool. Bizarro may be hinted at for future films, adding another exciting layer. While some characters like Hawkgirl were underwhelming, others like Krypto left a lasting impact. Quotes: “This is the Superman I pretended to be when I was running around the house as a kid.” – Frank “Lex Luthor isn't trying to rule the world—he's just obsessed with stopping Superman.” – Squeaks “It feels like you picked up a stack of DC comics and read them in one sitting.” – Squeaks “David Corenswet might be the most human Superman we've seen on screen.” – Frank Call to Action: Love what you heard? In this updated binocular review for 2023 I compare 6 different 10x42 binoculars; Swarovski NL Pure, Leica Noctivid, Leica Trinovid, Zeiss Conquest, Tract Toric and Athlon Cronus G2. I analyzed and tested 21 different categories across 5 classes: Descriptive, Construction, Optics, Performance & Operation. At the conclusion of the review, I give 3 recommendations for binoculars within premium, mid-range and low-range budget constraints.   I am raffling off the winning pair of binoculars. Please go to https://www.mindful-reviews.com/ for all the details. Once you are a member you will have access to the link to purchase tickets. Once the raffle is sold out I will update this section to indicate tickets are no longer available.     0:00 – Intro 0:55 – Raffle Info 1:19 – Structure of Review 2:36 – Why I Chose These 6 Binos 3:12 – The Maven Story 6:42 – The Tract Story 10:41 – Emotional Marketing Disclaimer 11:40 – Scoring System 12:55 – Price 14:46 – Weight 16:19 – Length 17:32 – Origin 19:27 – Descriptive Totals 20:32 – Warranty 23:53 – Durability 25:26 – Weather Resistance 29:21 – Frame Material 30:08 – Gas Purging 31:49 – Construction Totals 32:07 – Prism Type 35:22 – Field of View 42:02 – Glass Quality 47:16 – Glass Coatings 49:24 – Eye Relief 51:32 – Close Focus Distance 52:03 – Light Transmission 55:11 – Interpupillary Distance 57:02 – Optics Totals 57:47 – Performance & Operation (Field Testing) 1:00:00 – Aziak Bino Clamp Giveaway 1:01:00 – Performance Testing Scores 1:03:29 – Operation Testing Scores 1:06:29 – Field Notes From Testing 1:13:56 – Final Scores and Ranking 1:14:39 – My recommendations and Caveats 1:19:23 – The Binos That Are Getting Raffled Off       Jay Nichol jay@mindfulhunter.com https://www.mindful-reviews.com/ https://www.mindfulhunter.com/   Merch https://www.mindfulhunter.com/shop   Free Backcountry Nutrition Guide https://www.mindfulhunter.com/tools   Newsletter https://www.mindfulhunter.com/contact   IG https://www.instagram.com/mindful_hunter/   Podcast https://www.mindfulhunter.com/podcast

Three Screens Are Better Than One - MLR Update (ft. Tommy NoPiks)

Rugby PickEm

Over the past 6 weeks, we've been watching the games and keeping a temperature on the early part of the 2021 MLR season. On Saturday night, Bt and Tommy NoPiks sat down to take in 3 games at once (4 games if you count the 2nd half of the Cali Cup). Much to the chagrin of our dear friend (the 2020 "Blogger of the Year" RPA winner) and seasoned rugby reporter Bryan Ray, the MLR decided to load up Saturday night's slate of games. While Bryan prefers the game schedule to be laid out over the course of an entire weekend, we strongly disagree... What could be better than 3 games on, all at once?! We saw a great opportunity to binge some games and thanks to a generous TV donation by The Rugby Network, we built a triple screen masterpiece. Final Scores and thoughts from a great Saturday night MLR binge (winners in bold): LA Giltinis - 26 SD Legion - 13 Commentary Booth: Gareth Rees (play by play) Mike Tolkin (color) A poorly timed yellow card in the 60th minute killed San Diego's chances to level the score. They just couldn't seem to get the ball over the try line despite many appearances down in LA's 22. Luke White continues his rampage as one of the best scrummaging props in the MLR. Billy Meakes (better known as "Sir William Meakes" in Rugby PickEm circles) was MOTM. Meakes in an absolute GUN! Austin Gilgronis - 17 New England FreeJacks - 25 Commentary Booth: Kit McConico (play by play) Jim ___? (color) Some people disagreed with the call that went against Mason Pederson and cancelled Austin's late try to bring the game close, but the bottom line is that New England scored and defended when they needed to. They walk away with a massive win on the road, and rested some starters too. Zach Bastres scored his first MLR try coming off the bench to help seal the game. NOLA Gold - 17 Rugby New York - 30 Commentary Booth: Ian McNulty (play by play) Geoff Ormsby (color) We we're pulling hard for NOLA to get their 3rd straight win and jump back into contention in the East ... but it wasn't meant to be. New York was in control throughout the majority of the game. Ed Fidow continues to be a master class for the New York backline, running through anything to get his team on the front foot. NOLA has some lengthy tries late in the match, but too little too late for NOLA. They are 0-4 at home to begin the year. Dallas Jackals - 12 Seattle Seawolves - 34 Commentary Booth: Matt McCarthy (play by play) Marc Scterbina (color) An early red card saw Dallas up against it at Choctaw Stadium. The team continues to have moments of play that are magnificent, but a lack of defensive cohesion lead to a litany of Seattle tries that put it out of reach. Dallas will get their first W before the season ends, it's just a matter of which team takes them too lightly. Seattle ends a three game slide and will have to front against the defending champs next weekend. What a fantastic Saturday night of MLR action! Stay tuned for more Rugby PickEm to follow in the coming weeks! PICKEM!
