Over the past 6 weeks, we've been watching the games and keeping a temperature on the early part of the 2021 MLR season. On Saturday night, Bt and Tommy NoPiks sat down to take in 3 games at once (4 games if you count the 2nd half of the Cali Cup). Much to the chagrin of our dear friend (the 2020 "Blogger of the Year" RPA winner) and seasoned rugby reporter Bryan Ray, the MLR decided to load up Saturday night's slate of games. While Bryan prefers the game schedule to be laid out over the course of an entire weekend, we strongly disagree... What could be better than 3 games on, all at once?! We saw a great opportunity to binge some games and thanks to a generous TV donation by The Rugby Network, we built a triple screen masterpiece. Final Scores and thoughts from a great Saturday night MLR binge (winners in bold): LA Giltinis - 26 SD Legion - 13 Commentary Booth: Gareth Rees (play by play) Mike Tolkin (color) A poorly timed yellow card in the 60th minute killed San Diego's chances to level the score. They just couldn't seem to get the ball over the try line despite many appearances down in LA's 22. Luke White continues his rampage as one of the best scrummaging props in the MLR. Billy Meakes (better known as "Sir William Meakes" in Rugby PickEm circles) was MOTM. Meakes in an absolute GUN! Austin Gilgronis - 17 New England FreeJacks - 25 Commentary Booth: Kit McConico (play by play) Jim ___? (color) Some people disagreed with the call that went against Mason Pederson and cancelled Austin's late try to bring the game close, but the bottom line is that New England scored and defended when they needed to. They walk away with a massive win on the road, and rested some starters too. Zach Bastres scored his first MLR try coming off the bench to help seal the game. NOLA Gold - 17 Rugby New York - 30 Commentary Booth: Ian McNulty (play by play) Geoff Ormsby (color) We we're pulling hard for NOLA to get their 3rd straight win and jump back into contention in the East ... but it wasn't meant to be. New York was in control throughout the majority of the game. Ed Fidow continues to be a master class for the New York backline, running through anything to get his team on the front foot. NOLA has some lengthy tries late in the match, but too little too late for NOLA. They are 0-4 at home to begin the year. Dallas Jackals - 12 Seattle Seawolves - 34 Commentary Booth: Matt McCarthy (play by play) Marc Scterbina (color) An early red card saw Dallas up against it at Choctaw Stadium. The team continues to have moments of play that are magnificent, but a lack of defensive cohesion lead to a litany of Seattle tries that put it out of reach. Dallas will get their first W before the season ends, it's just a matter of which team takes them too lightly. Seattle ends a three game slide and will have to front against the defending champs next weekend. What a fantastic Saturday night of MLR action! Stay tuned for more Rugby PickEm to follow in the coming weeks! PICKEM!

Kat, Leo and Bcom finish up the Spring 2019 anime season with our thoughts on each finale individually, as well as the season as a whole. After the initial recording, news of the Kyoto Animation fire hit, which Bcom takes some time to address at the beginning of the episode. As a heads up, during our review of the final episode of Dororo, there is some discussion of death by fire and/or smoke inhalation, which you may want to skip. The Dororo segment runs from 1:04:37 to 1:25:20 if you would rather avoid it. Otherwise, it’s just another typical goofy podcast from us, which we hope will raise your spirits!Recorded July 15, 2019. Leo, Kat and Bcom close out Winter 2019 with reviews of the 12th and final week of the anime season. We finished off the last two episodes of Mob Psycho II, which left us wishing the show had kept the tone of the first half of the season, rather than switching half-way through. Run With the Wind defied our expectations and gave us a very satisfying ending to the running boys’ journey. Kemurikusa hinted at a potential sequel while also wrapping up the emotional arc of the narrative in a neat way. Domestic Girlfriend got dumber than ever before, and had us all wigging out. The first half of the Kaguya finale had Bcom squeeing over both the romantic fireworks and the fantastic direction and cinematography. Dororo finishes off its first half by giving us more plot development with Hyakkimaru’s family than we had expected to get at the half-way point. We move on to some quick reviews of the shows we watched outside of the podcast, before finishing off the season with our final reviews and scores!Recorded April 20, 2019. Leo, Bcom, and Kat close out Fall 2018 with reviews of the remaining few episodes, and final scores for all of the anime we watched this season! We start off by chatting about the finales of Bunny Girl and Bloom Into You, neither of which came to a completely satisfying conclusion. Then, because of our eight show weekly format this season, we had a lot of extra time to watch anime outside of the podcast, and we run through many of those, such as SSSS.Gridman, Irozuku, Black Clover, and Hi Score Girl, just to name a few. Finally, we dole out our final scores and thoughts on our top anime picks of the season. With all that done, we will see you next episode for a 2018 year in review episode!Recorded January 5, 2019. Leo, Kat, and Bcom return to wrap up the Summer 2018 anime season and dole out their final thoughts and scores for the shows they followed. For Angolmois, Kat breaks down the anime girl hierarchy for Bcom, explaining that “the hot useless girl comes first.” The final episode of Sirius the Jaeger reveals that the true power of the Ark was to contain the power of John Travolta’s sparkly disco hot pants from destroying humanity as we know it. No…seriously. During the Banana Fish review, Leo’s roommate Bob makes a surprise solo debut with his take on “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” which leaves us all speechless. Bcom and Leo disagree on their expectations vs. reality with the outcome of the final match of Harukana Receive. Happy Sugar Life goes fully off the rails in its final two episodes, losing Kat and Bcom, who were still kind of fans up to this point, but our review is slightly derailed by Leo insisting (correctly) that Bcom and Kat are both wrong about where the final scenes are taking place. Yes, they were on the roof. Revue Starlight breaks the fourth wall to tell us we were the giraffe all along, while Leo and Kat sit back and roll their eyes. As usual, Kat’s cat LOVES Revue Starlight and makes his opinions known. Kat learns why losing a lot of blood is bad for you in the final few episodes of Cells at Work! Kat also breaks down all of her thoughts on hair-pulling, bra patterns, and the necessity of consistent makeup practices while we laugh our way through the final two episodes of Asobi Asobase. Planet With delivers a profound message as it closes out its run, and one that Bcom feels is poignant in our current divided political climate. Attack on Titan ends its “mid-season” well, but pulls the rug out from under us and tells us we have to wait until April 2019 before they continue their split-cour season. At least it’s better than waiting years. We gave a few final thoughts on shows we followed outside of the podcast, before we finally moved onto our conclusions and scores for each of the shows we watched this season. We hope you all enjoyed analyzing the Summer season along with us, and we’ll see you in Fall!Recorded October 11th and 15th, 2018.Timestamps:1:45 - Angolmois (Eps. 11-12) 24:25 - Sirius the Jaeger (Eps. 11-12)41:38 - Banana Fish (Eps. 11-12)1:08:29 - Harukana Receive (Eps. 11-12)1:22:59 - Happy Sugar Life (Eps. 11-12)1:47:36 - Commercial Break1:50:32 - Revue Starlight (Eps. 11-12)2:04:31 - Cells at Work! Bcom, Leo, and Kat are back to wrap-up the end of the Spring 2018 anime season. We start off by covering the final episode of Megalo Box, which didn’t fully land its punches. Then, we transition into a marathon segment where we absolutely lose our minds describing the final two episodes of Gurren Laga…I mean, Darling in The FranXX. It was worth covering all 24 episodes just for this final segment! Afterwards, we detail a few notable anime we watched on the side, and then plunge into our final scores and remarks on each of the 10 shows we followed this season. Bcom, Kat and Leo are back with the 2nd part of the Winter 2018 season wrap-up. In this episode, we get into an intense debate over the ending of After the Rain. Bcom and Leo take solace in the fact that Kat was super-wrong about something in Laid-Back Camp. Kat and Leo are craving more Ramens, but Bcom’s not so sure. Ito Junji concludes with two absurdist comedy episodes with a special appearance by the Kool-Aid man. The first half of Darling in the FranXX closes with an intriguing cliffhanger about Zero Two’s backstory. And of course, Bcom punishes everyone with one last installment of the CiTRASH update. Finally, we end the show by giving out our final scores for this season’s top shows, in an in-depth segment where we get deep into our feelings on all eleven shows we followed this season.Recorded April 14, 2018.Timestamps:0:53 - After the Rain (Eps. 11-12)24:23 - Laid-Back Camp (Eps. 11-12)45:09 - Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens (Eps. 11-12)57:56 - Ito Junji Collection (Eps. 11-12)1:14:22 - Darling in the FranXX (Eps. 11-12)1:31:24 - Citrus (Eps. 11-12)1:37:37 - Final Scores and Discussion for Winter 2018Twitter: https://twitter.com/NerdomandOtherWebsite: https://nerdomandothernonsense.blogspot.com/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nerdom-and-other-nonsense/id1203061952?mt=2 Google Play: https://play.google.com/music/m/Iuqfigskscnxqhhatxmfyrec7gi?t=Nerdom_and_Other_Nonsense

We've finally made it to the end of the Fall 2017 season and the end of our first full year of anime podcasts. It's been an incredibly fun year for anime, and this Fall season was no different. I feel like we've learned a lot this year, but also a lot from this last season of anime. From Anime-Gataris, we learned that even when things are looking down, your virtual anime friends will help you fight your battles. From Juuni Taisen we learned that ignorance is bliss. From Inuyashki, we learned that Ichirou actually had a son this whole time...who knew? From Recovery of an MMO Junkie, we learned that pink bikini armor is a weapon of mass destruction, no matter who is wearing it. From Kino's Journey, we learned that THESE...SHEEP ARE ON FIIIIIRRRRE. From Girls' Last Tour, we learned...a lot. From the Ancient Magus' Bride we learned that anime can have Disney-level song sequences, that can actually work. From Blood Blockade Battlefront we learned that Leonardo's sister is a better open-field tackler than anyone on the New York Giants' roster. From Land of the Lustrous, we learned that cutting apart monsters just reveals the cute little puppies inside of them. And finally, we learned that sometimes Leo is right about romance anime, even when he's wrong, like in the tragic case of Just Because.Recorded January 8, 2017.Timestamps:4:55 - Anime-Gataris (Eps. 11-12)21:10 - Juuni Taisen (Eps. 11-12)33:28 - Just Because (Eps. 11-12)55:37 - Inuyashiki (Ep. 11)1:03:14 - Recovery of an MMO Junkie (OVA)1:09:33 - Kino's Journey season 2 (Eps. 11-12)1:27:44 - Girls' Last Tour (Eps. 11-12)1:40:40 - The Ancient Magus' Bride (Eps. 11-12)1:53:26 - Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond (Eps. 11-12)2:04:19 - Land of the Lustrous (Eps. 11-12)2:24:30 - Final Scores
