New episode out now! We revisit the world of Alfred Hitchcock with 1954's Dial M For Murder. We talk about the visual style of the film and how it was influenced by the decision to shoot with a new 3-D camera rig, are impressed by the use of shadows and score to increase the suspense, enjoyed watching Tony evolve his plan when things went wrong, and discuss the first appearance of both the stereotypical “Hitchcock blonde” and Grace Kelly in particular in his films. We touch on the similarities we see between the film and other Hitchcock movies as well as Columbo and Poirot, try to figure out where we've seen the actors before, and admit we kinda wanted to see the murder succeed just to see a satisfying plan come together. Katy cannot pronounce names or remember things, Carrie knows a real finger when she sees one, Maddy has to plan very carefully when going to a movie, and Mack is the Keymaster. We also discuss new terms for a secret male lover, ponder the ubiquity of a pencil-thin mustache in these noir films, and compare a scene from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to one of an English judge ordering the death penalty . We touch on movie theater soda blends, Mouse Trap, auditing your keyring, and the evolution of the car selling process. Enjoy! And special thanks to Jason for compiling a very helpful dossier- find him on Letterboxd under JKHenson89 here! TW: Capital punishment, gaslighting

Christy Lewis is a Disney princess in her own right and Scott has known her since she was in grade school. She's now an adult who has a job and is married and expecting her first child because unlike Peter Pan, she grew up. Christy earned her bachelor's degree from the university of Delaware in Elementary and Special Education (with a minor in disability studies). She also has a master's in Exceptional Children and Youth with a concentration in autism and severe disabilities.  She's been working in community and regional theatres (including The Kennedy Center!) for about twenty years directing, stage managing, and performing in over 200 shows.  And finally, Christy participated in the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. She was an attractions Cast Member, and worked on the Mad Tea Party and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. During her time there, she posted weekly bullet point updates on social media and those posts provided so much laughter and entertainment for so many people. Are you curious to know what she said in those posts? Well don't worry - you'll hear Scott and Christy talk about a lot of those bullet points during this interview because there's just so much good stuff there! Enjoy! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: It is official: Critter Country is no more. Bayou Country is now the name of the area with Tiana's Bayou Adventure and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The display on the balcony above the new Louis' Critter Club has been redecorated to a dressing room with musical instruments and a fan mail box. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ Weeklyteers who will be traveling to Disneyland with kids in early 2025 should take advantage of a new ticket offer. Children ages 3 through 9 can get a ticket for as low as $50 for a one day, one park ticket for visits from January 7th through March 20th. This deal goes on sale October 22nd. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/50-kids-disneyland-ticket-savings-on-hotel-stays/ Some good news for those of you who didn't want Avatar in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. Micechat reports that locations for the new Coco and Avatar projects have been in flux. After studying the crowd flow on Pixar Pier, there may not be enough room for an extended queue where the planned Coco attraction would be located. It was suggested to move the Coco attraction to Hollywood Land, which would allow for Monsters, Inc. to be saved as Coco would move into the Hollywood and Dine location. This leaves the Avatar project without a home for now. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The Jungle Cruise has returned from it's two week refurbishment. We had hoped that the tiger's stone surroundings would have returned, but they have not. However, both African bull elephants are back, the piranhas are functional again, and overall looks in good shape. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The lounge in the Disneyland Hotel's Fantasyland Tower has a new name! The Broken Spell Lounge is located next to Goofy's Kitchen and has a darker vibe, with forest accents and dark colors. Disney did not announce the name change, or put up a new sign, but they did update the navigational signage around the hotel. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/10/01/did-disney-just-quietly-change-a-restaurant-name/ While you are stopping into the Market House on Main Street for a morning beverage, be sure to pick up the newest sweet creation. The S'mores Cake Donut has arrived and is made of a graham cracker cake donut, chocolate ganache, and topped with a toasted marshmallow. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ A new Disney Parks cookbook has gone on sale, and to celebrate, Disney has posted the recipe for the Celebration Chocolate Fudge Brownies. These brownies were available at the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This recipe has just a few ingredients and looks fun for the whole family to create and eat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-celebration-chocolate-fudge-brownie-recipe/ For the select few who will be taking a VIP tour, there are some new exclusive items. A new line of VIP tour merchandise featuring the iconic plaid design is available to guests taking a VIP tour. The new items can only be purchased the day of the tour and are limited to one of each item per guest. There is a spirit jersey, pin and keychain set, lanyard, ornament, Loungefly mini backpack, and, of course, an ear headband. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ When the holidays arrive at the resort, a popular tradition will return to Downtown Disney. The Holiday Gingerbread Workshop has guests of all ages build and decorate a gingerbread house at the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio. The event is $35 per person and includes unlimited hot chocolate, one assorted mini dessert plate, and a digital photo with Santa. The gingerbread house is an additional $56 per house, with one house per group required, which includes a bag of assorted candies and icing for decorating, plus a limited edition 2024 Jazz Kitchen ornament. The event takes place on December 8th, 14th, and 15th from 12 to 2pm. WDW Radio # 800 - Joe Rohde: Our Conversation on Art, Wildlife, and Culture This week, I'm sharing a special episode from the Archives, as my interview this week comes from show # 232 back in 2011 in honor of legendary voice actor Pete Renaday, who passed away on September 8.   Pete's iconic voice brought life to unforgettable characters in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, including Henry from the Country Bear Jamboree, Walt Disney World's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (as Captain Nemo), The Hall of Presidents (as Abraham Lincoln), the Disneyland version of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The Walt Disney Story as narrator, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Adventure Thru Inner Space, and Mark Twain Riverboat. He was also the Ghost Host on the Haunted Mansion album (which I still have and love).   I feel fortunate to have Pete be able to share his story in his own words and iconic voice as he shares his incredible journey—from meeting Walt Disney to his work on animated films and iconic attractions. For our Series 4 finale we've got something really special: our first-ever Three Ravens Live Show, all about Sussex, recorded at the Festival of Chichester! We start off with a full live performance of Three Ravens care of Eleanor and our friend and neighbour Ben Harber, and then have a chat about the curious history of Chichester itself. After that, it's time to talk Sussex - and there's so much to say!In addition to chatting about how recent archaeological discoveries are reframing our understanding of the county, the differences between a "Wealdsman" and and "Downsman," and a spectacular list of castles from a region that "Wunt Be Druv," we talk County Dishes, and drown in the excesses of Sussex Pond Pudding! After some folkloric chat about the ghosts of the Weald and Downland Museum, the wild doings and superb afterlife of Mad Jack Fuller, the Horsham Serpent, the fine tradition of Sussex baby eating, and much more besides, it's on to the main event: Martin's story "The Many Adventures of Arundel The Horse (and His Blundering Knight, Sir Bevis of Hampton)."Thank you so much to everyone who came along, and to you for supporting and listening to Three Ravens, and we'll be back to round out the series with our thirteenth Local Legends interview with Dr Paul Quinn, Director of the Chichester Centre for Fairy Tales, Fantasy and Speculative Fiction. The Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. Then, and most importantly, the pair take turns to tell a new version of an ancient story from that county - all before discussing what that tale might mean, where it might have come from, and the truths it reveals about England's hidden past...Bonus Episodes are released on Thursdays (Magic and Medicines about folk remedies and arcane spells, Three Ravens Bestiary about cryptids and mythical creatures, Dying Arts about endangered heritage crafts, and Something Wicked about folkloric true crime from across history) plus Local Legends episodes on Saturdays - interviews with acclaimed authors, folklorists, podcasters and historians with unique perspectives on that week's county. With a range of exclusive content on Patreon, too, including audio ghost tours, the Three Ravens Newsletter, and monthly Three Ravens Film Club episodes about folk horror films from across the decades, why not join us around the campfire and listen in?Learn more at www.threeravenspodcast.com, join our Patreon at www.patreon.com/threeravenspodcast, and find links to our social media channels here: https://linktr.ee/threeravenspodcast Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Brad and Jake tackle, but Brad hasn't seen any movies from 1943, so he recommends the acclaimed The Life & Times of Colonel Blimp. This unconventional epic spanning the Second Boer War and both World Wars was helmed by the Archers (Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger), and starred Roger Livesey, Anton Walbrook, and Deborah Kerr in knockout performances. Jake, with little in his 1943 arsenal, asked Brad to watch Disney's Saludos Amigos. But since it's more of a tourism ad than it is a movie, Brad took the opportunity to rank all 61 Disney Animated Features released at the time of this recording, from Snow White to Strange World. Here is a little outtake: Hi, I'm Anna Jelen, also called The Time Expert. My podcast channel is about self-development, the big questions and time management à la Anna. I am flattered to be in your ears.I wonder what you are doing right now? Jogging? Cooking? Driving? Walking? I once got tagged in a video on Instagram, and it was so funny to hear my voice coming out from the stereo system in a car in Argentina. Feel free to let me know where you are listening to me. You can tag me on Instagram; my name is: annathetimeexpert Back to our topic today, where we honour the "just do it" persons. The fluffily and easygoing individuals - who you might even call: naive. Once upon a time, one of my best friends called me naive. He did not expect that I would say ", Oh thank you "- because, in my eyes, my naivität is my superpower. Before I tell you why, let's look at the word naivety. Naivety refers to an apparent or actual lack of experience and sophistication. I would add this: being naive also means trusting yourself to manage the situation. But the best way to describe naively comes here: The root naïve is a French adjective meaning "natural, just born." Because it suggests innocence or ignorance, naivete is often associated with children who lack experience and knowledge. But plenty of adults, too, display a certain amount of naivete when they make assumptions based on ignorance, an inability to grasp a situation, or a tendency to oversimplify complex things.I wouldn't call myself naive. I see myself with a "just do it" attitude. The most common phrases in my vocabulary are: Yeah, why not!Or: Okay, I can do that!Or: Let's try! Let's do this!https://www.annajelen.com/podcast-blogEnjoy this episode! Duration: 14 minutesPlease leave comments on my homepage in the podcast section where you will find this episode. Rob't Coltrin became a Disney Legend in 2020 (inducted at the D23 Expo 2022 ceremony) after spending 30 years at Walt Disney Imagineering. As a show set designer, concept artist, art director, and creative executive, Rob't became a go-to artist at Walt Disney Imagineering for concept work, storytelling, and ride layouts. Rob't is famous for helping design such noteworthy attractions as Expedition Everest, Toy Story Mania, Radiator Springs Racers, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Enchanted Tales of Beauty and the Beast, Mystic Manor, Mickey's Philharmagic, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (to name just a few). His likeness can also be found as a Disney S.E.A. character (Prof. R. Blauerhimmel, which fittingly translates to "Blue Sky"). In this podcast episode, I chat with Rob't about his career at Walt Disney Imagineering, including some of the attractions he helped bring to life. We also "geek out" together about ride layout design and blue sky development. What is your favorite Rob't Coltrin land or attraction?
