In this episode of the show, Binksy, Raj and Stu take stock of all 10 teams at IPL 2026 as we move to the knockout phase of the competition. We start the show by focusing on the three teams already qualified for the playoffs at the time of recording - Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru & Sunrisers Hyderabad. There are contrasts among the styles - GT's bowling has been a huge strength, SRH look to overpower sides with their batting & RCB favour a more balanced approach - but all three must feel they have a strong chance of lifting the trophy in 2026. There's talk about the upcoming battle between Josh Hazelwood & Bhuvi Kumar and the GT top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman GIll & Jos Buttler - plus yet more praise for Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan & Eshan Malinga. As the conversation turns to the sides on the bubble - Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals & Kolkata Knight Riders - we avoid discussing the permutations and instead focus on which of these teams we'd most likely expect to play spoiler when one of them slides into that number 4 slot on the table. For KKR, it's the bowling that has shone in recent matches - the spin of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy in particular capturing most of the headlines. Punjab finally awoke from their slumber thanks to a superb hundred from Shreyas Iyer, but after a losing streak that long, can they really be expected to win 4 matches in a row? Rajasthan's equation was simple - beat Mumbai and they're in - then hope Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's outstanding season can continue for a few more games against the toughest opposition. In the final segment, we say goodbye to Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and the Chennai Super Kings. Are there any bright spots? What skillsets should they target in the 2027 auction? And could that auction feature big names like Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Aiden Markram & Matt Henry? In this episode of the show, Binksy and Stu celebrate the Top Order's 500th episode before discussing the week that was in IPL 2026 and evaluate the Black Caps' Test squad for the upcoming tour to Ireland and England, plus a bit of England Cricket chat as well. We start the show by raising the bat to 500 episode for The Top Order Podcast. It's been a fun journey filled with plenty of highlights, so the boys share a few before moving on to the cricket once again. As the conversation turns to IPL 2026, we discuss a week which saw the majority of the higher-ranked sides stumble, while the Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings took advantage and moved up the ladder. For GT, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are easy to praise, but it's Rashid Khan who we put in the spotlight for his impressive contributions and craft. Binksy then asks whether Stu believes in the Sunrisers yet, whereas Stu's trying to figure out why the Punjab Kings are dropping so many catches - and also basking in the glory of Finn Allen's hundred for KKR. In the second half of the show, the guys discuss the newly announced 19-player Black Caps Test squad to tour the UK and Ireland. What did they get right in the draft last week? And are there any surprises? There's praise for the seam bowling attack despite the absence of Jacob Duffy, with Matt Henry, Will O'Rourke, Kyle Jamieson, Nathan Smith and co. all in line to feature. On the England side of things, a new selector has (sort of) been announced, and Binksy outlines potential changes from The Ashes that could open the door for a return for Ollie Robinson and a fresh face in the batting line up. We'll be back in your feed again soon with more cricket news, including the charge to the IPL finals and the Black Caps' tour to England. 29 games in. We review the teams based on their current position on the points table. Joining Richa and MV are Aravint and Karan We deep-dive into the conspiracy theories surrounding Mumbai Indians, briefly wonder if the Indian Premier League is basically the male version of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and spend more time dissecting Kolkata Knight Riders than they probably have themselves, before getting stuck in mid-table traffic. We also take a few (okay, many) digs at Lucknow Super Giants, debate Rajasthan Royals' inevitable late-season fade despite one panelist backing them to win it all, break down Royal Challengers Bengaluru's newfound efficiency, and make the case for Punjab Kings as the team to beat this year.

In this episode of the show, Stu and Raj discuss the first week of IPL 2026, focusing on the things that reinforced their pre-tournament views and the things that have surprised them so far. We start the show with another shout out to Amelia Kerr, after her stunning 179* guided the White Ferns to a record-breaking chase against South Africa, before moving on to the IPL coverage and the most recent match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders.. For SRH, it was a story of two innings on the batting side of things, with the Travishek combo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head getting them off to a flyer, before a flurry of wickets meant Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy had to rebuild, but they did it in fine style. With the ball, run outs proved to be the most important factor, as we talk about some positive signs from Nitish Kumar Reddy & Angkrish Raghuvanshi and the pressure starting to build on Cameron Green. As we start to look back to the week that was, it's Cooper Connolly who takes centre stage after he starred in Punjab's win against Gujarat. We examine why people are so excited about his potential, and what this means for the PBKS season. Next, attention turns to the Rajasthan v CSK game, which saw Nandre Burger & Jofra Archer blast out the CSK top order before Vaibhav Suryavanshi and a moustachioed Yashasvi Jaiswal made light work of the chase. Are RR better than we expected? Or are the Chennai Super Kings fans in for a tough, tough season? The Delhi Capitals bowlers are the next group to receive praise from the Top Order team, after their performance against LSG. Lungi Ngidi's slower ball, Kuldeep Yadav's trickery and Axar Patel's craft all played a huge role in knocking off the LSG firepower before an impressive partnership from Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs saw them home. To round out the show, we highlight strong starts from RCB and the Mumbai Indians, who look set to challenge for the title yet again in 2026 with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma & Ryan Rickelton all looking in top form. We'll be back in your feed again in another week or so with more cricket news, including plenty of IPL news and the upcoming NZ tours. Who is the team to truly fear in IPL 2026? Just five games into the season, the league hierarchy is already looking like a total rollercoaster. In this episode of The Cricket Podcast, we break down a whirlwind opening week that has left some giants reeling and others looking absolutely lethal. We dive deep into the tactical shifts and standout performances defining the early narrative of the 2026 tournament, analyzing whether these trends are here to stay or just a flash in the pan. We start with the Rajasthan Royals masterclass against Chennai Super Kings. Nandre Burger's dismantling of the Yellow Army has propelled the Royals to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with a staggering +4.171 net run rate. Not far behind, Royal Challengers Bengaluru made a massive statement at the Chinnaswamy with Jacob Duffy leading a clinical victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, proving their bowling unit finally has the bite to match their superstar batting. The fireworks continued at the Wankhede as Mumbai Indians pulled off a high-octane chase against Kolkata Knight Riders, spearheaded by Shardul Thakur. We also analyze Cooper Connolly's ice-cold debut for Punjab Kings and the tactical clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. This episode of the podcast is a deep-dive tactical preview of the IPL 2026 season, breaking down the massive off-season moves for the league's big four franchises. We are moving past the hype to look at the cold, hard data defining the 2026 trophy race. We start with the "New Look" Chennai Super Kings. After a disastrous 2025 where they finished at the bottom, the front office finally hit the reset button. We break down the blockbuster trade that sent Ravindra Jadeja out to bring Sanju Samson in. It is a total shift in philosophy for the Yellow Army, moving away from "safety first" toward an aggressive, spin-hitting middle order. We also look at their gamble on uncapped speedsters and whether Noor Ahmad can carry a spin attack at Chepauk without veteran backup. Then there is the Mumbai Indians, who seem to have finally moved past the captaincy drama of the last two years. With Hardik Pandya firmly at the helm and Rohit Sharma still providing the veteran backbone, MI looks like a clinical machine again. We analyze the return of Quinton de Kock and why Shardul Thakur might be the "missing link" for their death bowling—an area that leaked critical runs in the 2025 playoffs. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are in a fascinating position. After 18 years of waiting, Rajat Patidar delivered the trophy in 2025. Now, the challenge is the "double." We discuss the massive acquisition of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and how his Powerplay control changes the game for Virat Kohli. Can they survive the first few weeks without Josh Hazlewood, or will their pace depth be their undoing? Finally, we look at the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR hijacked the auction, dropping record sums on Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana. We debate if Ajinkya Rahane can actually control a team with this much volatile power. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Raj and Stu are back in the same room again (almost all of us) to kick off the IPL 2026 coverage with a bumper preview show in two parts. In this episode, we start by previewing the fortunes of the Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. We start with a Baldy explainer, before moving straight into the team previews. This year we decided to count down from outsiders (based on the a random betting agency - don't blame us) to the favourites to discuss what excites us about our chosen teams, the key questions facing each side and whether we think they'll be in title contention come the business end of the tournament. First up is RR, in which Binksy highlights their young side, but buries the lead to the big question about Vaibhav Suryavanshi and how much hype will surround the young star this season. We also discuss the loss of Sanju Samson and ponder whether Riyan Parag's side is in rebuild mode. Next is LSG, where the conversation quickly turns to their powerful projected top 4 of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran & Rishabh Pant. Will they be able to carry the batting load on their hefty shoulders? Will Wanindu Hasaranga play a role in the tournament? And will we see a fully fit Mayank Yadav steaming in again? For KKR it's a sad day for Binksy to look at the lineup and see no Andre Russell, but Sunil Narine remains and a host of New Zealanders have arrived to boost the overseas stocks. The question remains, which ones will actually take the field? Will Finn Allen thrive? And how much has Harshit Rana's injury dented their chances? The Delhi Capitals are up fourth, and Stu is excited about their chances in 2026. The addition of the likes of Pathum Nissanka, David Miller & Lungi Ngidi, plus the spin trio of Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam & Kuldeep Yadav makes the team an intriguing proposition on paper. But will they have the local batting depth to turn that intrigue into wins? To round out part one of our preview, Raj takes a look at 2025's beaten finalists, the Punjab Kings, who return with a lot of familiar faces from the team that performed so well in the previous season. There's Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh at the top, overseas allrounders like Marco Jansen, Azmatullah Omarzai & Marcus Stoinis, plus Arshdeep Singh & the spin duo of Yuzi Chahal and Harpreet Brar with the ball, making them a very balanced side. So why are they not more favoured in the betting odds? We'll be back in your feed again in 24 hours with the second episode of our IPL 2026 Preview. Until then please take the time to give us a like, follow, share or subscribe on all our channels (@toporderpod on Twitter & Facebook, and @thetoporderpodcast on Instagram & YouTube) and a (5-Star!) review at your favourite podcast provider, or tell a friend to download. Bangladesh is out of the ICC T20 World Cup starting next month. It will be replaced by Scotland. Cricketing observers have slammed the sport's governing establishment for mismanaging the issue. It all began when Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman on BCCI orders. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not take kindly to this. It banned the telecast of IPL 2026 in Bangladesh. And subsequently, it asked for all its league matches in India to be shifted to Sri Lanka, which is the co-host. The ICC refused the request. Bangladesh refused to participate unless its demand was met. The ICC brought in Scotland in its place. The entire sequence of events has raised many questions: Is the ICC guilty of ‘double standards'? Could Bangladesh's request have been accommodated? Is cricket's role in the sub-continent changing? Millions of dollars have been spent as the IPL 2026 mini auction was completed. It was the uncapped Indian players who stole the spotlight with franchises spending large amounts of money on raw potential, so the team debate raw talent versus experience and why all-rounders are so sought after. This comes after Australian Cameron Green has become the most expensive overseas player in the history of the IPL after Kolkata Knight Riders bought the all-rounder for approximately US$2.8 million. The Women's Big Bash has a new name on the trophy. Hobart Hurricanes are the champions, so we looked back at the tournament as a whole with the ABC's Brett Sprigg. And with the controversy surrounding Snicko in the Ashes, the team debate whether technology still has a place in modern cricket.Photo: Cameron Green gestures during an IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 6, 2024. England hammered Zimbabwe in their first Test match of the summer. Although Zimbabwe managed some impressive batting in spells, ultimately England had too much for them and the end result was a thrashing. In this episode of the show, Binksy, Jamie, Baldy and Stu kick off the IPL 2025 coverage by previewing the fortunes of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. We start with a Baldy explainer, and a quick chat about the impact of the mega auction, before moving straight into the team previews. We discuss what excites us about our chosen teams, whether that's particular players or team storylines, and whether they'll be in title contention come the business end of the tournament. First up is KKR, in which Binksy asks why they aren't favourites with the betting agencies, highlights the importance of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine again, as well as the talented Indian bowling core featuring the likes of Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora. There's also a word on Ajinkya Rahane taking over as captain. Next is Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which Stu gets excited about songs, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, the power-packed batting lineup and bowling reinforcements, before asking whether this team can go one better in 2025. For the Rajasthan Royals, the absence of Jos Buttler is the question on our minds. Without him and others, they look weaker and the betting agencies have written them off. But can Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and co. make those odds look silly when the winners medals are handed out at the end of May? The Mumbai Indians are up fourth, and Baldy proceeds with caution when discussing their favouritism with the bookmakers. Will the star-studded batting lineup featuring Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and friends deliver in 2025? Or will the absence of Jasprit Bumrah - for how long? - be too difficult to overcome with the ball in hand? To round out part one of our preview, Jamie takes a look at CSK, highlighting the plethora of options their allrounder-packed squad provides them. What role will Rachin Ravindra play?

two IPL 2024 games to talk about on this episode of The Cricket Podcast. First up we talk about Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally winning a match, as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad to snap a long losing streak. Will it be too little too late for Virat Kohli and RCB? And today, KKR went massive, smashing 260+ runs v Punjab Kings. Will that be enough for the Kolkata Knight Riders, to take them into a great position to make the IPL play-offs. However, Punjab Kings had other ideas, as they orchestrated the greatest chase in T20 cricket, with Bairstow and Shashank leading the charge. Three games for us to react to on this IPL 2024 show. Jos Buttler caused mayhem yesterday as he helped Rajasthan Royals complete the record IPL chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders. A game which also featured Sunil Narine scoring a maiden century! On Monday there was even more carnage, as Royals Challengers Bengaluru allowed Sunrisers Hyderbad to break the IPL record score AGAIN. They hit 287, with Travis Head notching a ton to lead the charge there. Then finally Gujarat Titans played terribly and were bowled out for 89 by a Delhi Capitals side who are on the march! Three IPL games to talk about on this show. Rajasthan Royals play the Gujarat Titans today. Thanks to an assault from Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson the Royals managed a big score. Will Shubman Gill and the Titans be able to chaise it down? Yesterday Shashank nearly did it again, but fell a little short, as the rest of the Punjab Kings was unable to properly support him. Sunrisers were lucky to get a good score on the board, despite struggling with the bat, but are now in a great position to make a move on the IPL play-offs. On Monday Chennai Super Kings completed a formality over the Kolkata Knight Riders. Comfortable efficiency was the order of the day for CSK, with Ruturaj Gaikwad making his first big contribution of the year.
Kolkata Knight Riders demolished Delhi Capitals bowling in the game today. KKR scored 272 runs thanks to Narine and Dre Russ, with a little help from some other KKR batters too. Delhi Capitals look awful. Yesterday we saw RCB crumble against Lucknow Super Giants. Royal Challengers Bangalore could not deal with the pace of Mayank Yadav. He bowled multiple balls over 150kph and propelled LSG to an easy win. And on Monday Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians with ease. This is big trouble for Mumbai Indians who are rock bottom of the IPL table. On this episode of The Cricket Podcast we talk about the last two games in the 2024 IPL. Yesterday he Rajasthan Royals overcame Delhi Capitals in a close game. Riyan Parag picked up the man of the match award for his masterclass of pace hitting. Delhi Capitals could be the worst team in the IPL, but they at least showed a bit of promise Today we saw Virat Kohli in fine form as he carried his bat for the entire Royal Challengers Bengaluru innings. On this episode of The Cricket Podcast we continue with our IPL 2024 Team Previews. This episode is a big one, featuring three of the biggest franchises in the Indian Premier League: Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Are any of them contenders for this year's IPL title. Chennai Super Kings go into this year after winning the tournament last year. MS Dhoni is still in charge and with players like Jadeja, Chahar, Moeen Ali, the Dube and more backing him up they look like they could be a threat to win the IPL again. Can they secure another championship or might this be one tournament to far for the legendary Dhoni? Royal Challengers Bangalore made a big trade before the auction, picking up Cameron Green to bolster their batting. Along with the acquisition of Alzarri Joseph they seem like they could have improved for this year's IPL. However, there are weaknesses in other areas of the team and their bowling, in particular, looks like it could come under pressure. Will RCB be able to pull it together and finally deliver Virat Kohli the title he wants? Finally we talk Kolkata Knight Riders. They feature an exciting batting line up with Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and now Phil Salt providing serious firepower to their batting card. Backed up by a spin trio lead by Narine they could be a real handful with the ball too, especially if we see Mitchell Starc hit his stride. Could they be the dark horses for the IPL title?
