India scripted a great escape in the 4th Test match at Manchester. Ben Stokes's England were left frustrated by the grit of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Controversy struck on the final day of the Test match when Jadeja and Sundar refused to go off the field, despite the hassling of Ben Stokes and Co. England, led by Stokes, wanted the batters to call it curtains much before the scheduled closure of play after realising that they were not going to win the match. A massive wave of criticism followed Stokes and his team for unsportsmanlike conduct and trying to dictate the opposition's approach with the bat. Safe to say, the self-proclaimed custodians of the game failed morally as well. In the latest episode of the Sledging Room Podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar and Kingshuk Kusari discuss the draw in Manchester, which felt like a win. They also build up to the 5th and final Test match of the series, which might have major workload concerns for both teams. Produced by Garvit Srivastava Sound mixed by Rohan Bharti
On this week's episode DJ and Varun look back at the brilliant drawn test match at Old Trafford which keeps the #EngvInd test series alive going into the final test at the Oval. We talk Pant, Stokes, Shubman, Washy, Jadeja and (no) handshakes.
After England scored a mammoth 669 to take a commanding lead and leave India 0-2 on Day 4, all thoughts turned to an England win. But a fantastic display from India's batters on a flat Old Trafford pitch saw India home to a comfortable draw. Some late shenanigans gave us something to talk about, however, as Jadeja and Sundar wound up weary England by turning down an early finish to reach their centuries. 1 test to go and the trophy remains up for grabs! Send us a textHello and welcome everyone to The Cricket Slouch, a podcast where even though narrative rules, the numbers in context cannot be ignored. In this episode we will cover the 3rd test between England and India, and the 3rd test between Australia and West Indies. We talk about the efforts of Jadeja and Rahul, Green and Greaves, Seales and the Josephs, but more than that those of Stokes, Starc and Scotty Boland, India's continued woes with catching, why we can't let bye-gones be gone, and why Sundar might be the new Duckett. To make some sense of some of these crazy numbers, I am joined by Shounak and Ajit, who have both generously donated some of their precious time to this cause. .Have fun listening and spread the word !

We sat down to discuss England's win at Lord's.We discussed why Jadeja should have attacked more, why is this team so defensive?, what is the secret of Ben Stokes' energy? (No we didn't) but definitely marvelled at Archer's return and the dangers of Siraj being overbowled before looking ahead to the Manchester Test where we think Kuldeep is a must (heck, we thought he was a must in all tests). There is sadly no media review but an observation that the Indian fan and YT creators ended up defending this selection as the game went on.
It was a heartbreak of epic proportions for India at Lord's. Chasing 193, they were reduced to 82 for 7 and then 112 for 8. Just when it seemed England would wrap things up on the final morning and head in for a relaxed Lord's lunch, Ravindra Jadeja stood tall with a resolute act of defiance. He faced 181 deliveries for a gritty 61, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj for company. But did India miss a trick by not being more proactive while Jadeja was batting with the tail? While it may be unfair to expect Jadeja to take undue risks, was there a moment that slipped away? What really led to India's defeat at Lord's, despite having dominated large portions of the Test? Was it Shubman Gill's soft dismissal? Was it poor umpiring? Or the top-order collapse in the second innings? As we head into an eight-day break in the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy, is it time for India to rethink their playing XI? Will Jasprit Bumrah return for the Manchester Test? In the latest episode of the Sledging Room Podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Debodinna Chakraborty unpack the drama and heartbreak of Lord's. Or Should we sulk in India's second close loss in three Tests? Should Ravindra Jadeja have changed his approach while batting with the tail? Or were Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes too good to go after for Jadeja and the rest? Did India's ultra-aggressive approach in the field cost them the match? Or was it lack of skill? And what was the bigger turning point: a mini-collapse in the first innings or the number of extras India conceded in both the innings? In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy, Jamie and Stu look back at week 1 of IPL 2025 through a stock market lens. Who are we buying? Who are we selling? And what are we watching with our fingers poised ready to pounce in the coming weeks? We start on a positive note, highlighting a balanced RCB side unbeaten at the time of recording thanks to a bowling attack featuring the quality of Josh Hazlewood and a top order that's firing thanks to Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Rajit Patidar and co. In the Buy section of the show there's also praise for Sai Sudharsan, MS Dhoni and wicketkeepers in general. We're watching the impact player performances and how that's impacting games and batting lineups. We're selling a star-studded Mumbai Indians batting lineup featuring Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and friends because we can't understand why they're continuing to struggle, and watching closely to see how much tinkering do with their teamsheet, tactics and batting lineup with the likes of Curran, Dhoni, Jadeja and Ashwin who could all slide up and down the middle order. To round out the show, there's chat about whether teams will score 300, how home ground advantage could play a role and if it is too early to be worried about Pat Cummins and his SRH bowling attack. We'll be back in your feed later in the week with more of a game review style show. Ashwin and DJ get together to talk this week about India's 2 wins in the first 2 games against England's T20I side at Kolkata and Chennai. England are playing their first series with Brendon McCullum as T20 coach, and some of the effects of Bazball are already visible. They talk about Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma's heroics with the bat, as well as Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarty's good series with the ball so far. They also cover the return of key Team India test players to Ranji trophy - Rohit, Yashasvi and Pant had forgettable results, while Gill and Jadeja had memorable performances.
Welcome to another episode of The Cricket Slouch.Sandeep once again hosts this week's episode and he is joined by the regular duo of Shounak and Ajit to discuss the series finale of the BGT at Sydney, a test match that was done within 3 days on a spicy deck. A lot of What If's plague the fans and management alike, but there are bigger questions to be asked, and answered here.Such as the fate of seniors like Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja and Rahul, what the spin dept will look like, which pacers need to be given a chance, and the composition for the England tour. A spotlight is also shone upon Gambhir's role and whilst it is early, is he the right person to be the head coach?Australia take the plaudits here, but was this a really good cricket series and where does the new plan to have a 2-tier system fit in if the Big Three are the only ones in the top tier? This and much more in this episode !
The build-up to the Boxing Day Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground has been fiery. India superstars Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have been the centre of attention for the Australian media. The host media targeted the India duo with bizarre allegations ahead of the 4th Test match. While Kohli was accused of misbehaving with a female reporter, the press accused Jadeja of not entertaining questions in English. While both allegations were busted later, did Australian media cross a line with the Indian team?If the whole media vs players has been one of the talking points this week, the teams have had more drama. Ravichandran Ashwin opted to retire and fly out in the middle of the tour; the Australian team management snubbed a young batter after just 3 Test matches. Both teams are expected to field fresh line-ups for the Boxing Day Test. But which team has the upper hand? India - who will be playing at their traditional stronghold in Australia? Or the hosts, who have done sensationally well in the last three Tests at the venue?Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Kingshuk Kusari discuss this in the latest episode of the Sledging Room.Tune in!Produced by Anna PriyadarshiniSound mixed by Nitin Rawat

In this episode of the show, we reflect on the Black Caps' 3-0 series win against India, which left interesting questions for both sides as they head into their next fixtures. We also discuss potential World Test Championship final scenarios and the flurry of white-ball series from around the world. The Black Caps made it a clean sweep against India with a 25-run victory at Wankhede Stadium, to cap off a remarkable month for New Zealand cricket. Ajaz Patel was crowned player of the match and Will Young the player of the series, but those performances might still not be enough to get them into the starting XI for the home summer. We talk through the spin bowlers on show, heap praise on Daryl Mitchell's fighting effort with bat in hand and raise questions that now face this Indian side: Are they still the best Test team in the world? Do Gautam Gambhir and the leadership group need to make changes? Can Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma bounce back against Australia? Is there a place for all three of Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar in the XI away from home? We also discuss whether the ICC need to consider moving to four-day Tests, then take a quick look at the white-ball series featuring NZ, Sri Lanka, England, West Indies, Australia and Pakistan - so many that we ran out of time to cover the 47 other series that are currently under way. On this week's podcast episode, it is a full house as we talk about India's 0-3 home test series loss to New Zealand. This is the first time India has ever been clean swept in a home test series (of more than 2 tests). We will analyse what went wrong for Team India in a series which was to cement their position in the #WTCFinal and will look ahead to what changes are needed to get things back on track. We will try and answer the big question - is it all change for the test side and do we need to move on from the likes of Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja and Ashwin? Who will replace them? Pant also matched MS Dhoni's tally of Test centuries in the process, hurling himself into the debate about the greatest keeper-batters from India in Test cricket. In the Sledging Room Podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Saurabh Kumar, and Kingshuk Kusari discuss whether the argument has merit and whether Pant is really on his way to becoming one of the greatest keeper-batters in the history of red-ball cricket in India. The trio also discuss the impact Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin have had on Test cricket for the country and how the in-form duo have dominated in the last four years whenever they have worn whites for India. But before all of that, the latest episode begins with the question of whether fans take India's domination in home Tests for granted and the possible reasons behind it.Tune in!Produced by Anna PriyadarshiniSound mix by Kapil Dev Singh

Being a ‘majority' does not automatically confer power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows it & that is why his supporters see him as someone who is enabling a re-awakening.

On this episode of The Cricket Podcast we continue with our IPL 2024 Team Previews. This episode is a big one, featuring three of the biggest franchises in the Indian Premier League: Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Are any of them contenders for this year's IPL title. Chennai Super Kings go into this year after winning the tournament last year. MS Dhoni is still in charge and with players like Jadeja, Chahar, Moeen Ali, the Dube and more backing him up they look like they could be a threat to win the IPL again. Can they secure another championship or might this be one tournament to far for the legendary Dhoni? Royal Challengers Bangalore made a big trade before the auction, picking up Cameron Green to bolster their batting. Along with the acquisition of Alzarri Joseph they seem like they could have improved for this year's IPL. However, there are weaknesses in other areas of the team and their bowling, in particular, looks like it could come under pressure. Will RCB be able to pull it together and finally deliver Virat Kohli the title he wants? Finally we talk Kolkata Knight Riders. They feature an exciting batting line up with Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and now Phil Salt providing serious firepower to their batting card. Backed up by a spin trio lead by Narine they could be a real handful with the ball too, especially if we see Mitchell Starc hit his stride. Could they be the dark horses for the IPL title? India v England, Rajkot Day 1: A day of twists and turns to begin the Third Test, but the home side, thanks to a 204-run stand between the captain Rohit and the local superstar Jadeja, earned a handy advantage by the close. To recap the tons, the wickets and the barbeque of poor old Sarfaraz Khan, Adam Collins has Cam Ponsonby for company there at the ground. India v England, Hyderabad Day 0: Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed and Tom Hartley are not Ashwin and Jadeja - let there be no doubt. But on the belief that the Hyderabad pitch is going to rag from morning one, the visitors are putting all their faith in an inexperienced spin trio that will rely heavily on the bespectacled bloke from Somerset. As for the hosts, they so rarely lose at home with a tried-and-true gameplan. But how will it work if the Bazballers can make a bit of a mark early? A fascinating series awaits.
