On May 31st 2002, 17-year-old Elena Assam-Thunderbird went for a night out in Ottawa, Ontario, with her best friend. During the early hours, the pair met two strange men in Primrose Park, one of whom offered to walk Elena to a nearby bus stop by LeBreton Flats, however, he took advantage of Elena's trusting nature. The following day, the teens body was found in the Ottawa River, having been bludgeoned over the head and sexually assaulted.
