We head back to the baseball diamond and head to the "Bump" with Hall of Fame Pitcher, Tom Glavine here on "Inside the Game" brought to you by flexxCOACH. In segment one Tom discusses playing hockey and baseball in his hometown of Billerica, Massachusettes. His loved playing both sports as a kid. He noticed early on that he was always playing with the older kids but never really thought much of it. Just thought it was normal even though he had a late birthday for sign ups. As he entered high school he made the varsity teams for hockey and baseball. As he moved up each year in both sports he had to earn his place on the teams. Nothing was given to him. He started to draw interest in hockey and baseball from colleges in sophomore year. In his junior he really drew interest from MLB scouts, he said he knew something was up when you would have 30 radar guns behind home plate tracking your pitches during a game. He really wanted to go to college and play both hockey and baseball. He was an honor roll student in school but did not test well and his SAT scores were holding him back from his dream of attending Harvard. He really wanted to go to school there and play both sports but Coach Cleary from the hockey team called him and said that his test scores would not get him in. So he was deciding on going to University of Lowell instead to play both sports. Fate would enter when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta Braves. One side note he was taken before Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille in the 1984 draft. Tom had to make a decision in his life at an early age. He talked to his parents and decided to go the baseball route. His mom and dad helped in making the decision to go the Atlanta Braves with certain conditions. It is a great story to listen on how things worked out for him. Enjoy segment one with Tom Glavine.

For the second year in a row, the Blues are out of the hunt for the Stanley Cup after one round. This time, in a sweep. Hanna Yates and Andy Mohler join Corey Miller to talk about the Blues' woes against the Avalanche and what may be next for Doug Armstrong in the offseason.   (4:40) The Cardinals dropped their first series against the Cubs at Busch Stadium in 600 days, but it provided some fun moments. The Miles Mikolas injury is concerning and Edmundo Sosa is making the most of his opportunity. The Cardinals also get ready to take on Tony La Russa and the White Sox.   (10:00) Phil Mickelson beat father time and became the oldest man to win a Major with his 2021 PGA Championship victory. So who are some other "old guys" we enjoy watching? We discuss.   (15:05) And the greatest player in St. Louis Blues history, Brett Hull, stops by for a signature no filter interview with Frank Cusumano. Hull talks current Blues, his good (and not so good) memories from his playing days and some rapid fire back and forth with Frank.   Be sure to download and subscribe as well as rate and review wherever you get your podcasts.
