AmiSights: Financing the Future For Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs
On this episode, Ami Kassar interviews Mason (The Chutzpah Guy) Harris, Founder of The Chutzpah Institute, on what is chutzpah and whether or not it can be taught in an organization. Born with a “plastic spoon in his mouth” to immigrants who found both safety and opportunity in the U.S., Mason is an observer of people and a lifelong student of self-improvement and business. His education, both formal – Queens College (BA) and University at Buffalo (MBA), and informal, the streets of New York, exposed him to many different people. Mason was fascinated by their personalities and stories. There were introverts and extroverts, and feeling comfortable with both traits, Mason eventually learned that he is an ambivert. Mason also learned that actions, perseverance, and risk-taking led to more successful lives. These behaviors, among others, are the foundation of Mason's work on understanding and sharing "chutzpah." Interviews, research, and a worldwide pandemic led to finally writing his book, The Chutzpah Advantage, and teaching others the skillset for "going bigger, being bolder, and doing better." Recorded 08/08/2022.

Welcome to Episode 226 of Building My Legacy. In this podcast we talk with author and motivational speaker Mason Harris whose book, The Chutzpah Advantage, explores the eight key behaviors and characteristics that create the skillset of chutzpah. “The Chutzpah Guy” — as he's known — walks us through many of those key behaviors, explaining that somebody with chutzpah both conceives of an idea and then actually implements it. He contrasts that with people who pass up good opportunities because they don't want to “rock the boat.” Our discussion will be fascinating for would-be entrepreneurs, people looking to grow their business or anyone ready to move their career forward. So if you want to know:– The positive and negative sides of chutzpah– How a sense of purpose is so critical to survival and real success– Why we need to recognize that, although we can't control what happens to us, we can control our response– The importance of handling objections when you need to get a project done– How humility is an important part of chutzpahAbout Mason HarrisMason Harris is a motivational speaker, listener and the author of The Chutzpah Advantage, which answers questions like, what is chutzpah? This is episode 502. Tips for sales career success. Read the complete transcription on The Sales Game Changers Podcast website. MASON'S TIP: "Chutzpah is very complicated. It's one of those things that you may have trouble defining it, but when you see it, you know it. Unfortunately, with what's going on right now between Ukraine and Russia, an example of very constructive chutzpah from a leadership perspective. President Zelenskyy, who is offered the opportunity to leave the country, urged to leave the country, take his family, and set up a government elsewhere, responded with, "I need ammunition, not a ride." That's an example of chutzpah we can relate to. It's a type of courage, standing up for one's principles, stretching boundaries, and putting at times others in front of or certainly equal to our own needs."
