Locked On Gamecocks - Daily Podcast On South Carolina Gamecocks Football & Basketball
In this special crossover show and Final Four preview between the Locked On Gamecocks and Locked On Hawkeyes podcast, Andrew Lyon and Trent Condon discuss why the game between South Carolina's Women's Basketball team and Iowa's Women's Basketball team is a great opportunity for the sport due to the two stars in Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark. Andrew then discusses the biggest storyline surrounding Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks: the question surrounding if they can overcome the pressure of running the table and accomplishing a feat few programs can point to.In terms of questions and matchups, Andrew highlights the question of how Dawn and her staff might choose to attack Caitlin Clark and how Brea Beal will play a big role in that equation. He also explains why the matchup between South Carolina's Boston and Iowa's Monika Czinano could also have a profound impact on the matchup.Lastly, Andrew and Trent predict their respective winners and explain their thought process behind their picks!Who do you think will win?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Locked On Hoosiers - Daily Podcast On Indiana Hoosiers Football & Basketball
A huge second half from Grace Berger and a strong game from Mackenzie Holmes was enough for the Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball team to knock off the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday. It was the first top-five match-up in Big Ten women's basketball in 30 years and lived up to the hype. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) recaps the biggest win in the program's history as the Hoosiers knocked off a top-five team for the second time this season. Another stellar defensive performance paved the way to victory as the Hoosiers as Monika Czinano was a non-factor and Caitlin Clark was wholly inefficient. The performances of Holmes and Berger were both superb and necessary. The pair combined for 50 points and were the two best players on the court in the contest. The show wraps by previewing the men's basketball team's game coming up against Michigan. In the midst of their best player in seasons, the Hoosiers look to continue their winning ways in Ann Arbour. This is John McGlothlen with The Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Monday, February 6th.According to the National Weather Service, we'll have patchy fog before 9 a.m. in the Cedar Rapids area today. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Then tonight, we have a 30 percent chance of rain before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.Education Savings Accounts — tuition provided by the state for private school — could allow private schools to increase teacher and administrator salaries, reducing the pay gap between private and public school educators. Teachers at St. Joseph School, a Catholic school in Marion, are paid about 15 percent less than teachers at public schools in the area, Principal Casey Kettmann said. The annual public school teacher salary in Iowa generally ranges between $45K and $65K. Under a new law signed by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds last month, all public school students and thousands of private school students will become eligible to receive a roughly $7,600 education savings account per year to pay for tuition and other expenses at a private school. The program is expected to cost $107 million in the first year and by 2027, when phased in, will cost $345 million. Public school districts will receive an estimated $1,205 in funding from the state for each student who lives in the district but attends a private school — not only for students who choose to leave for private schools, but students who already are in them.In Iowa women's basketball, Caitlin Clark assembled her third triple-double of the season (and the ninth of her career), and sixth-ranked Iowa smoked Penn State for the second time this season, 95-51, in a Big Ten women's basketball game Sunday afternoon in Pennsylvania. The Hawkeyes won their eighth straight game, and their biggest game yet — at No. 4 Indiana, on Thursday — awaits, with first place at stake. Clark posted 23 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists. Monika Czinano added 14 points, hitting 7 of 10 field-goal attempts.–
Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. After starting the season 19-0, the Ohio State women's basketball suffered their first defeat of the season. Guard Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes 83-72. Following the defeat, head coach Kevin McGuff and forwards Taylor Thierry and Cotie McMahon spoke to the media. In the press conference, coach McGuff lamented the rebounding performance of the Buckeyes, with Iowa grabbing 20 more than Ohio State, the lack of competitive character for 40 minutes, the triple-double performance by Clark and struggling to stop center Monika Czinano. It's not all bad though, with three members of the Scarlet & Gray having positive performances on the evening. McGuff talks about Eboni Walker, Thierry and McMahon positively after the three had important performances. The coach also talks about using this loss as motivation and commenting on if the loss could help Ohio State in the long run. Following the coach are McMahon and Thierry. The two lowerclassmen led Ohio State in scoring but talked about what the team needed to do better before Thursday's game against the Hoosiers. McMahon also addressed Iowa celebrating on the Buckeyes' home court and more. Connect with Thomas: Twitter: @1ThomasCostello Theme music provided by www.bensound.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Iowa women get an instant reaction podcast after the Hawkeye ladies beat #2 and previously undefeated Ohio State 83-72. It was a triple double from Caitlin Clark, but she got plenty of help. Monika Czinano was her efficient self-going 11 for 13 from the floor, Kate Martin and Hannah Stuelke chipped in with double digit rebounds and the defense was outstanding. Then a jump into Hawkeye football as winter work outs have begun from the team and a good-looking picture from QB1 Cade McNamara. It shows him working out without a knee brace, potential great news as we look towards spring football. He retired following the 1981-82 season and was an assistant coach for the Celtics for seven seasons from 1983 to 1990, helping coach former teammates Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish to two titles in 1984 and 1986.
