This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Octagon Hall Museum is a unique antebellum landmark in Franklin, Kentucky, known for its Civil War history and paranormal activity. Andrew Jackson Caldwell began building this unique family home in 1847, but it wasn't completed until 1859. It isn't your typical home with four exterior walls—this home has eight walls, making it octagon-shaped. During the Civil War, both the Confederate Army and the Union Army occupied the Hall at different times. There are many stories of the ghosts that still haunt the building, from the Caldwell family, slaves, and Confederate and Union soldiers who have never left the property. It is also considered one of the most haunted buildings in the South. We talk about the history and hauntings with Museum Director Bear Gaunt. Octagon Hall in Franklin, Kentucky has the distinction of being the most unique house in the state of Kentucky.  An octagon shaped home is a rarity, there are only four in America, but this Antebellum home is mysterious and distinct for more reasons than just its shape.  Octagon Hall and the entire property that makes up the plantation it was built upon, survived the Civil War and occupation by the Union Army.  But something else survives here as well.  This Kentuckian historical landmark transforms every Autumn into a haunted house attraction that really is reportedly haunted.  Music used in this episode:  Main Theme: Lurking in the Dark by Muse Music with Groove Studios Outro Music: Happy Fun Punk by Muse Music with Groove Studios The following music was used for this media project: Music: Drama Intro 6 (Page Turn) by Sascha Ende Free download: https://filmmusic.io/song/420-drama-intro-6-page-turn License (CC BY 4.0): https://filmmusic.io/standard-license

In honor of Halloween my guest today is Shaun Burris star of the A&E Special “Extreme Paranormal” and the co-host for the past 10 years of the Ghostman and Demon Hunter Show podcast. Shaun calls himself “a collector of strange experiences” in the realm of the paranormal. He shares stories of growing up in a haunted house that he and his family shared with a “woman” spirit. That experience led him on a journey of many haunted houses and spooky places across the Unites States. He has visited and “felt” paranormal activity in Octagon Hall in Kentucky where he spent the night with “ghosts”. You will hear stories of Voodoo when he talks about visiting Manchac Swamp in Louisiana and the legend of The Curse of Julia Brown. The most “haunted” place he has ever encountered is revealed as the New Mexico State Penitentiary In Santa Fe, NM. We discuss reincarnation, aliens, monsters and more; However, the most compelling story involves a close call for his family after a discussion on his radio show/podcast of the Haunted Dybbuk Box. It is so scary I was afraid to even google Dybbuk Box. A chilling, hair raising show for the Halloween holiday. Enjoy but maybe do so with the lights on! Oh and here is the survey info: bitly.com/KristiLee If you have a few seconds to fill it out that would be great! Until next week: Be Kind!

THE G&D MIDNIGHT SHOW LIVE FROM THE HAUNTED OCTAGON HALL ON THE KENTUCKY CIVIL WAR TRAIL!In 1847, Andrew Jackson Caldwell laid out the foundation for his new family home. With a desire for distinction, his home would not be a simple structure with four walls like so many others, but an eight sided edifice unique to the region. www.octagonhall.comMr. Caldwell, a very active pro-Confederate, finished building his home in 1859 just prior to the Civil War. His brother was a Colonel in the Confederate Army. And because the house was on 31-W or historically known as the Nashville Road, it was a local landmark. The Confederate Army evacuated Bowling Green, which was the Confederate capitol of the state of Kentucky, on February 13, 1862. They camped here the first night and in our best estimation from the military record, somewhere between eight to ten thousand men camped on the grounds. The officers probably stayed in the house overnight, which would have been very common. Because of his Confederate leanings, of course, the Union army came shortly in pursuit of the Confederate army.We will be also be joined by Spiritualist Thom Angels. For nearly twenty years, the “Spiritualist,” Thom Angels, has helped countless individuals with the psychic insight and knowledge that he received from “Heaven.” Additionally, Thom has also helped numerous sick individuals and healed them of their ailments, with the help of nearby angelic beings.THE GHOSTMAN & DEMON HUNTER SHOW – April 9th 11:59 PM Eastern. www.ghostanddemon.comDownload G&D 04-10-11
