Coming in at #23 is the Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada. Oliva Cigar Company traces its heritage in the cigar industry back to 1886 when Melanio Oliva would cultivate his first tobacco crop. In 2021, Oliva Cigar commemorated the 135th anniversary of that milestone and released a special cigar from one of its most successful lines, the Oliva Serie V, to commemorate the event. The vitola for the 135th Anniversary would be a rare one – a cigar with a capped head, but a tapered footer. Since the 2021 release, Oliva has made the decision to bring back the Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary on an ongoing limited production basis. Blend-wise, the Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada features the same tobaccos as found in the rest of the Serie V line. This includes an Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper over all-Nicaraguan tobaccos. The figurado shape measures 5 1/4 x 54. Production is handled at Oliva's TABOLISA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada delivered earth, cedar, cocoa, nut, pepper, and floral notes. The cigar delivers a nice amount of flavor nuances. This cigar has a little more in the way of boldness for a Serie V – coming in at medium to full for strength and body. For Oliva, this is the fourth time it has landed on the Countdown. It's also Oliva's first appearance on the countdown in eight years. For those keeping score at home, the Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada brings the total number of cigars originating from Nicaragua on the Countdown to six. TABOLISA also is the first factory in 2022 to land multiple cigars on the Countdown. Full Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-oi8

This year the Battle of the Bands Competition has turned into 90's Madness! While last year we selected artists, this year we have decided to focus on albums – specifically from the decade of the 1990s. To add to the fun, Hector Alfonso of Espinosa Cigars and John McTavish of Developing Palates are participating. The concept works as follows: Dave, Coop, Hector, and John will each pick 8 albums. The selections will occur via a “Draft”. Once the albums are selected, each participant will seed them, place them into brackets and you decide who should move on. We will go through each round on Twitter, until there is a winner from each of the four brackets. From that point, the four bracket winners will square off in a final four. The tournament commences March 15th with two matchups a day to vote on. Each vote will be eligible to compete to win one of three special prizes. We also pay homage to the late Mark Lanegan. We recap Black History Month, preview Women's History month, discuss Coop's New Oldies #1 selection, and look forward to Record Store Day on April 23rd. The Oliva Serie V Double Toro is a cigar my father-in-law has been smoking for years and one that he swears by. And, since I frequently see them on Famous Smoke at 40% off, I bought box when I saw them on sale. So today, instead of just relying on the word of a friend, I thought we'd put the Oliva Serie V Double Toro to the test!00:00 Intro00:09 Welcome02:26 First Impressions04:02 Cigar Specs04:57 Smoking07:32 Final Thoughts09:06 OutroAfter using my v-cutter to snip the end, I found that I had a fairly tight draw. Regarding the flavors, the Serie V is undeniably Nicaraguan, but the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper adds some spice. However, the spice I get from these cigars like cinnamon, not peppers, so it's a nice combination of sweetness and spice. Additionally, I get notes of leather and other earthy flavors.CigarScore Merch!: https://click.cigarscore.com/merchytUse coupon code CIGARSCORETV to get 15% OFF!Brand: OlivaLine: Serie VSize: 6 x 60Cut: Double V-CutLight: TorchPrice: $11.25Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Sun GrownBinder: NicaraguaFiller: NicaraguaSmoke Time: 105 minutesBuy This Cigar: https://click.cigarscore.com/fs-oliva-serievThrough the first third of the Oliva Serie V Double Toro, I had a tight draw that I didn't like. To fix it, I used my guillotine cutter to try and open up the smoke, but my efforts failed. It looks like I'm going to have to suffer through a tight-ish draw.Final Thoughts:While this wasn't as good as the Oliva Serie V Double Toros I've had in the past, this one was still pretty good. Other than the disappointing draw, this cigar lived up to expectations (and past experiences) in every way.The Serie V has rich flavors of cinnamon and other spices that are balanced with earthy flavors that make up a really nice smoke. Plus it's hard to ignore the quality and length of smoke for the price, all from a premium cigar brand. My selection for the International Cigar Lightation Ceremony today is the Oliva Serie V, a bold rich cigar that is jam packed with ligero to start the week with a bang.
The Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto should be a true, luxury smoke. After all, it's a blend that won some "Cigar of the Year" awards a few years ago.The version of this cigar with the natural wrapper (as opposed to the Melanio Maduro) has a Nicaraguan binder and filler underneath an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper that's marbled and quite attractive. After punching the end, the draw is impeccable. The flavors on the cold draw are grassy. It's worth noting that I've had some Oliva Serie V Melanios that had flavors of chocolate and caramel, while others have been mediocre in flavor. Consistency seems to be an issue with these cigars, and I plan on letting most of the ones I have left age for at least a couple of years.CigarScore Merch!: https://click.cigarscore.com/merchytUse coupon code CIGARSCORETV to get 15% OFF!Brand: OlivaLine: Serie V, Melanio NaturalSize: 5 x 52Cut: PunchLight: TorchPrice: $10.60Wrapper: Ecuadorian SumatraBinder: NicaraguaFiller: NicaraguaBuy This Cigar: https://click.cigarscore.com/fs-oliva-serievmelanioWhereas the first third of the cigar had flavors that were just okay, the middle third is where the robusto started to shine. It was at about the halfway point where I started to get flavors of cream and caramel, even if they were just faint traces.Final Thoughts:I'm a little conflicted with this cigar because I know what amazing flavors of caramel, cocoa, coffee, and vanilla the Melanio blend can deliver. I've had it on the Churchill vitola, but, I didn't have it today. However, the Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto that I reviewed today doesn't quite live up to what I know a Melanio can deliver. This robusto's draw was great, the flavors were good, and I had an even burn the entire time, but... I know it can do better. The first third of the cigar was not as good as the middle and final thirds, which are where the draw opened up and the flavors improved.Overall, this Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto was pretty dang good, but not perfect, so it earns a CigarScore 4.#CigarScoreTV #Oliva:::::Find & Rate Where to Smoke Cigars at https://www.cigarscore.comCIGAR DEALS::::::Cigar 5-Packs: https://jo.my/mlunpiCigar 10-Packs: https://jo.my/8kfajfCigar Samplers: https://jo.my/oady8qBoveda Packs: https://jo.my/fbtwzr:::::Get CigarScore Emails - https://www.cigarscore.com/subscribe::::: SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cigarscoreTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/cigarscoreInstagram: https://Instagram.com/cigarscoreMy Music: https://www.ellorywells.com/soundstripe::::: AFFILIATE DISCLAIMER: Hey, so, some of the links in my videos and descriptions are affiliate links. Download Episode 12 Here Audio Feeds: Video Feeds: Stogie of the Week La Flor Dominicana Double Claro #50 Origin: Dominican Republic Wrapper: Ecuadorian Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Dominican Strength: Medium Vitola: Robusto Size: 5 x 50 Age: Medium MSRP: $6.86 Released in 25 count boxes and will be regular production. Current release are available in three sizes; No. 50 (5 x 50), No. 42 (42 x 5 1/2), and No. 48 (48 x 6 7/8). This week we are drinking Paul's List La Aurora Cameroon - Ashton VSG - Cabiguan Guapos - Davidoss Millenium Lancero - LFD Lancero - Tim's List NHC Seleccion Limitada Reserva by Tatuaje - I had mentioned during Episode 11 that I had smoked this stick during the pre-game but I didn't talk much about it. This 6.75 x 42 Nicaraguan puro is wrapped in Broadleaf and is sold exclusively by New Havana Cigars. This cigar began with a balanced mix of coffee, cocoa, and leather with the addition of some dark chocolate on the second half. Construction was perfect, the price reasonable, and I really think the vitola works for this blend. A definite “Fiver”. Camacho Diploma Series Robusto - A full flavored stick with lots of leather, pepper, and wood. Decent burn, good draw. I would smoke it while working around the yard or with a peaty scotch. "The Angler" Oliva Serie V No. 4 - I loved this vitola! The larger sizes of the Oliva Serie V are great but this corona was a nice variation of the blend. Smooth with lots of pepper, some floral notes, and a nice Ligero sweetness. The burn was razor sharp, draw perfect, and the ash so firm, it actually stayed intact when it hit my deck. Might have to order two "Fivers".
