Dr. Sam Storms has been one of our own. He's served at our conferences, he's connected to us through the Convergence Church Network, and he's been one of the clearest continuationist voices in evangelical Christianity for decades. His new book, The Rise and Fall of the Kansas City Prophets, is the most detailed insider account of the Kansas City prophetic movement ever written — 310 pages covering 1982 to 2000, the era of Bob Jones, Paul Cain, and Mike Bickle's rise to prominence. And people are asking some tough questions about it.This episode is not a hit piece on Sam Storms. He was lied to like the rest of us. He has acknowledged that his discernment failed him. That kind of accountability takes humility and bravery. As we review his book, we're going to do our best to call balls and strikes. What does Sam get right? Where does he miss? What this episode is ultimately about is discernment — not just the discernment of individual prophetic words, but the communal discernment of a movement. How does proximity to leadership shape what we're able to see? And after everything that has happened, what does it look like to hold continuationist convictions with both faithfulness and sobriety? There is grief in this conversation, but there is also hope. We're not abandoning the prophetic because Mike Bickle and others abused it. We're asking hard questions — with honesty, with care for Dr. Storms, and with deep love for every person still healing from the IHOPKC collapse.Previous Episodes on Mike Bickle:- How Do We Process the Allegations Against Mike Bickle? https://youtube.com/live/dlkA_FjimJo- IHOP: A House Divided - Mike Bickle & IHOPKC https://youtube.com/live/EpcaPgqCaGo- Behind the Scenes at IHOP: Stories of Systemic Abuse Part 1 https://youtu.be/Y9tDHlOLriM- Surviving a Toxic Church: Victims of IHOP Speak Out, Part 2 https://youtu.be/rpo8wJkm--I0:00 – Introduction1:09 – Sam Storms' Book8:21 – Bob Jones Controversy12:19 – Sam's Apologies17:46 – Sam's Skepticism42:51 – What About Empirically Verified Prophecies?59:51 – Paul Cain1:02:57 – Closing ThoughtsSubscribe to The Remnant Radio newsletter and receive our FREE introduction to spiritual gifts eBook. Paul Cain is a dyed-in-the-wool river rat and big-water trout fishing is his passion. Though he'll fish for them with a variety of gear and tactics, his preference is catching them on streamers. His insights will help you level up and hunt browns you measure in pounds instead of inches. This episode is brought to you by Montana Department of Commerce. Visit mt.com. Qoheleth notices something that keeps theologians and barroom philosophers equally busy: the wicked prosper, the righteous suffer, and the sentence against an evil deed is almost never executed on time. That delay, he says, seems like a cosmic travesty. Human hearts read slow justice as no justice at all and fill the gap with more evil. What can be done? Obey the king, fear God, eat your bread, and accept that you cannot decode the logic of what happens under the sun. The man who claims he has it figured out is lying, even if he is wise. The Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Ecclesiastes 8:1–17. To learn more about Immanuel in Sheridan, visit immanuelsheridan.blogspot.com. What does a man gain from all his toil under the sun? Solomon asked that question three thousand years ago, and it still cuts. Ecclesiastes is the Bible's most unflinching book about work, wealth, wisdom, and the ache nothing in this life can fill. It is also one of the most pastoral, because the Preacher tells the truth about death, time, and meaning without leaving the reader in despair. Pastor Booe and guest pastors from across the Synod study it verse by verse, following Solomon's argument to where it finally lands: fear God and keep His commandments. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. This week river rat Paul Cain revs the "Shit Runner 2" for big-water trout redemption not involving anything chartreuse, we fail to impress our parents with our fire breathing skills, discuss the joys of auto anchor deployment when hunting trophy "inlands," travel back to 1982 for wings, and refuse to back down on proving fish like to eat live minnows.
John and Charles examine a newly surfaced transcript involving Paul Cain and Chuck Smith that exposes how leadership power functioned behind the scenes of the charismatic movement. The discussion traces how the same figures moved from Foursquare to Calvary Chapel, Vineyard, and ultimately the New Apostolic Reformation, carrying the same control structures with them. The conversation explores how recordings, private confessions, and reputation management became tools for enforcing silence, shaping narratives, and protecting movements at critical moments. By following the historical trail from the 1950s healing revival through the 1980s and beyond, the episode reveals how spiritual authority often operated less through doctrine and more through leverage. ______________________Weaponized Religion: From Christian Identity to the NAR:Paperback: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1735160962 Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCGGZX3K ______________________- Support the channel: https://www.patreon.com/branham - Visit the website: https://william-branham.org
The Office of the Keys is an aid to all believers in the battle against sin and provides consolation for those with a guilty conscience. The Roman Church taught that those who confessed all their sins to a confessor would find comfort. Enthusiasts looked within for a good conscience, apart from the Word of God. However, we know that God does not deal with us in any way other than through His spoken Word and Sacraments. By this same Word, the binding key is meant to call sinners to repentance in the promise of reconciliation in Christ. “Lord God, bring us to repentance by Your Holy Spirit and drive us back to Christ for His forgiveness through our pastor as from Christ Himself. Lord have mercy. Amen.” Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church and headmaster of Martin Luther Grammar School in Sheridan, WY, joins Rev. Brady Finnern to study confession and excommunication. To learn more about Immanuel Lutheran, visit immanuelsheridan.blogspot.com/. Job has spoken his mind. He has challenged his friends, questioned their wisdom, and even dared to press God for answers. But now, Eliphaz steps back in—and he's had enough. The gloves come off. No more soft words, no more attempts at gentle correction. Eliphaz calls Job arrogant, accuses him of undermining true wisdom, and doubles down on the old argument: The wicked suffer, Job. So, if you're suffering you must be wicked. It's logical, but is Eliphaz defending God, or just defending his own faulty beliefs? The Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Job 15. Why do the righteous suffer? That's the burning question at the heart of the book of Job—one of the most profound and challenging books in all of Scripture. From a Lutheran perspective, Job's story isn't just about a man enduring unimaginable hardship; it's about wrestling with God's will, grappling with well-meaning but misguided advice, and ultimately finding comfort in God's grace rather than human understanding. As Job's friends offer simplistic answers, Job demands the truth, and God's response reminds us of His infinite wisdom and mercy. Through it all, we see glimpses of Christ—the truly innocent sufferer—who redeems our pain and points us to the cross, where suffering meets salvation. Join us as we journey through Job, confronting tough questions about faith, suffering, and God's mysterious ways with hope grounded in Christ alone. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. How many Sacraments do we have? It depends on who you ask! The Reformers were focused on the reception of God's gracious gift of forgiveness of sins through faith in Christ. The Roman Catholic Church focused on the authority of the Pope and traditions, but as we know, traditions and the Pope can err. Yet, Jesus and His Word do not err and give what He promises: the forgiveness of sins. A Sacrament is defined as a physical element with the promise of forgiveness attached to it (Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and sometimes Absolution). To quibble over exact numbers is unproductive when the focus needs to be on Christ and His gifts. “O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.” LSB 523, st. 1 Rev. Paul Cain, senior pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sheridan, Wyoming, joins Rev. Brady Finnern to study the number of Sacraments. The second half of Proverbs 6 returns to the seductive allure of the adulterous woman, portraying her as a grave threat to one's well-being and social standing. Solomon argues that succumbing to such temptations leads to irrevocable harm and dishonor. He contrasts the consequences of theft—which can be remedied by restitution and may be driven by necessity—with the deeper, more damaging repercussions of adultery, which include public disgrace and personal ruin. The Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Proverbs 6:20-35. Step into the spiritually rich landscape of the Book of Proverbs, a text divinely inspired and attributed to Solomon, the sage king endowed by God with unsurpassed wisdom. This ancient scripture begins with heartfelt lessons from a father to a son, laying a foundation of moral and ethical guidance before unfolding into a collection of timeless proverbs. It uniquely personifies wisdom and folly as two paths that stand before humanity, offering a choice between a life filled with virtue, fear of the Lord, and understanding, and one marred by shortsighted pleasures and foolishness. Proverbs serves as a compass for those seeking to walk in righteousness, offering insights that resonate deeply with the human experience, guiding us toward a life of purpose and discernment according to God's will.

The Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Joshua 15. This chapter unfolds before us the allotment of the Promised Land for the tribe of Judah. As we traverse the diverse territories assigned to this, the most important of Israelite tribes, we see the historical context that would later play a pivotal role in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Beyond the geographical boundaries, Joshua 15 carries a timeless message about heritage, unity, and faith. The Book of Joshua is a compelling account of the Israelites' conquest of Canaan under the leadership of Joshua. It narrates their journey from the crossing of the Jordan River to the triumphant capture of the Promised Land. Filled with military campaigns, divine guidance, and moments of faith and obedience, this book underscores the fulfillment of God's promises and the importance of unwavering commitment to their divine mission. It stands as a powerful testament to the faith, resilience, and unity of the Israelites as they claim the inheritance promised to them by God.
When Scripture speaks, we believe and confess it. Jesus tells us that “whoever believes and is baptized will be saved (Mark 16:16).” Peter tells us “Baptism now saves you (I Peter 3:21).” Jesus tells us to “make disciples of all nations baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19-20).” According to Scripture, we believe that all the promises of Baptism are yours: forgiveness of sins, rescue from death and the devil, and eternal salvation (Small Catechism, Sacrament of Baptism, 2nd part). “God's own child I gladly say it : I am baptized into Christ! He, because I could not pay , gave my full redemption price. Do I need earth's treasures many? I have one worth more than any, That brought me salvation free. Lasting to eternity!” LSB #594, st. 1 Rev. Paul Cain, senior pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church and headmaster of Martin Luther Grammar School in Sheridan, Wyoming, joins Rev. The Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Hosea 4. The prophet Hosea, now more empathetic to YHWH's concern for the infidelity of the people, begins to deliver a lengthy indictment against Israel and their wickedness. The people openly sin and the priests lead the way. YHWH laments the lack of love for him and his statues among them and forewarns of coming judgement. The book of Hosea is a love story with a twist. It tells how God commanded Hosea, a prophet, to marry Gomer, a wife who would be unfaithful to him. God wanted Hosea to feel firsthand the pain of betrayal as he sent him out to prophesy to the people of Israel how they had been unfaithful to God. Hosea still loved Gomer and pursued her and restored her as his wife. This was a picture of how God pursued Israel despite their sin and rebellion and offered them grace and mercy if they would return to Him.

Evangelical End Times pastor Mike Bickle founded the International House of Prayer in 1999, later renamed IHOPKC, in Kansas City after saying God had told him to do so in a series of prophecies. Former members have referred to it as a cult. Is it? Or is it an organization, with its focus on modern day prophecy, where cult leaders can easily recruit followers? In 2012, IHOPKC member Bethany Deaton was found dead, and investigators looking into her suicide (originally thought to be a murder case), uncovered a small offshoot cult within IHOPKC lead by Tyler Deaton, a charismatic young man and IHOPKC adherent who felt, like Mike Bickle, that he was also a modern prophet. He also felt that God had, like with Bickle, tasked him with helping raise an army of spiritual warriors to do battle with Satan's minions in an imminent, apocalyptic showdown between good and evil. Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, WY, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Daniel 11:36-12:13. This Reformation Day episode, which is also All Hallow's Eve (or Halloween), covers what some people might consider a spooky topic: the antichrist and the time of the end! A new king is presented, a king from among God's people who will set himself up over God. The vision Daniel receives from the “divine man” then culminates with the revelation that there will be an increase in lawlessness as the end draws near with tyranny and mistreatment of God's people. The description of the antichrist finds its match in the Papacy of Rome. Does that mean the antichrist has come or is there more? Mysterious dreams carry a foreboding warning. A disembodied hand writes a cryptic message on the wall. Visions of beasts predict the falling of great kingdoms. And an apocalyptic prophecy foretells the end of time. Thy Strong Word now opens up the Book of Daniel and delves into the life of one of God's prophets exiled in a Babylon. He speaks truth to power in a way that proclaims the providence and power of God. Daniel's writings also leave for us visions of the Antichrist and God's ultimate redemption of his people.
So we have done 13 episodes telling the history of the Kansas City Prophets. In this series, we share some pretty spectacular stories about how God used everyday people to exercise some pretty extraordinary prophetic words. Some of these ordinary people were men such as Bob Jones and Paul Cain. If you know anything about Bob Jones and Paul Cain you will know that they both errored In an egregiously sinful way. Some, who have not watched the whole series, think that we are trying to promote these men as "prophetic Giants" of the charismatic movement who should be emulated. However, nothing could be further from the truth. These videos are meant to describe the events that God performed In Kansas City. God performed these signs, and the men called to steward these gifts disqualified themselves from ministry by their Immoral actions and (in the case of Bob) erroneous teachings. In this video, we repeat much of what was said in episode one and engage with some new criticisms of the series.Paypal)https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=GC2Z86XHHG4X6___________________________________________________________________________________Exclusive Content (Patreon)https://www.patreon.com/TheRemnantRadio__________________________________________________________________________________We're social! 7 Levels of Prophecy: Interview with R. T. KendallWhat do you think when you hear "Word & Spirit"? I think of the reformed pastor R.T. Kendall. R.T. was raised Nazarene, then went charismatic reformed, and trained under the late Martin Loyd Jones! Now DR. Kendall Is a scholar of scholars but he also used to hang In some pretty ghosty spaces. After reading his new book "Prophetic Integrity" I learned that he and Paul Cain used to do conferences together! What a wild duo Paul Cain and R.T. Kendall. Rev. Paul Cain, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Martin Luther Grammar School in Sheridan, WY joins Rev. Brady Finnern to study and pray Psalm 14. David pulls out many difficult words as he laments. “There is none who does good, not even one.” We all fall short of the glory of God, corruption is real for each one of us, and our only chance for salvation is God. The LORD assures us that He is with us, His chosen ones, He is our refuge, and salvation has come in Christ from Zion. “Lord God, thank you for salvation from Christ. Keep us from foolishness and from the snares of the devil's lies by Your Word and Holy Spirit. In Him, Amen” This is a rebroadcast from November 16, 2021.
The Kansas City Prophets: Episode 1Really excited about this new Tuesday series. For the next couple of months, we will be publishing our interview with Dr. Sam Storms on the historical events of the Kansas City Prophets. If you are not familiar the "Kansas City Prophets" was a title given to some select Individuals with incredible prophetic gifts located In Kansas City at the international house of prayer. These "prophets" seemed to walk with incredible accuracy and insight yet, the story Is not always cotton candy and rainbows. Guys like Paul Cain and Bob Jones got wrapped up in sexually immoral scandals. Additionally, Bob Jones championed these "trips to heaven" that were aberrant practices to the teachings of scripture. So what do we do with this?Do we throughout the prophetic track record of these men? do we call them "false prophets" and move on? Or should we commend them for their service and reprove them for their failures, and learn from their mistakes. All this and more Is covered In this episode of The Remnant Radio.Donate (Paypal)https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=GC2Z86XHHG4X6___________________________________________________________________________________Exclusive Content (Patreon)https://www.patreon.com/TheRemnantRadio__________________________________________________________________________________We're social!
