Hey Strangers, #tech #finally #job The current wave of layoffs raises critical questions about the future of work in the tech industry. Will companies continue to prioritize AI investments at the expense of human workers? Will the industry return to its previous growth trajectory, or are we entering a new era of consolidation and efficiency? And most importantly, how can companies better support their employees through these turbulent times? As we navigate these challenges, it's clear that the tech industry is at a crossroads. The decisions made today will shape the future of the industry—and the lives of millions of workers—for years to come.In this period of uncertainty, resilience is crucial for those affected. Equally important is the need for the community to come together with compassion—helping one another identify new opportunities, offering resume reviews, providing career advice, and setting realistic expectations. While the tech sector may be contracting, the demand for skilled workers remains strong. For example, demand for data center construction is stronger than ever, driven by the insatiable thirst for AI. Starting new ventures should also be considered a viable path forward for those impacted. Whether it's pivoting to new roles, upskilling in AI, or exploring emerging fields, there are numerous paths to success. The key is to stay adaptable, keep looking ahead, and continue leveraging your network and resources. ======================================= I had to Make a playlist for this lol https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPn9z2zi8y0ZDNRGzJtPin2V-Ad2K_3bl ************************************************** My other podcast https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKpvBEElSl1dD72Y5gtepkw ************************************************** article links: https://www.forbes.com/sites/emilsayegh/2024/08/19/the-great-tech-reset-unpacking-the-layoff-surge-of-2024/https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/21/business/economy/us-jobs-economy.htmlhttps://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-unemployment-rate.htm ====================================== Discord https://discord.gg/MYvNgYYFxq TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@strangestcoder Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe9xwdRW2D7RYwlp6pRGOvQ?sub_confirmation=1 Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/CodingWithStrangers Twitter https://twitter.com/strangestcoder merch Support CodingWithStrangers IRL by purchasing some merch. How many Sacraments do we have? It depends on who you ask! The Reformers were focused on the reception of God's gracious gift of forgiveness of sins through faith in Christ. The Roman Catholic Church focused on the authority of the Pope and traditions, but as we know, traditions and the Pope can err. Yet, Jesus and His Word do not err and give what He promises: the forgiveness of sins. A Sacrament is defined as a physical element with the promise of forgiveness attached to it (Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and sometimes Absolution). To quibble over exact numbers is unproductive when the focus needs to be on Christ and His gifts. “O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.” LSB 523, st. 1 Rev. Paul Cain, senior pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sheridan, Wyoming, joins Rev. Brady Finnern to study the number of Sacraments. Humans are the most meaning seeking creatures on the planet - we seek and assign meaning to everything we are confronted with. As Rooftop Leaders, it is crucial that you seek to find your own purpose and the purpose of the people you lead. It will not only help you become relatable to them but you will also become more relevant in their eyes. CONTEXT ON THIS SERIESIn 1917, T.E. Lawrence, who you might know as Lawrence of Arabia overthrew the Ottoman Turks in WWI in modern-day Iraq and Syria, using strategic human connections at the local level. He did so by going into tribal environments and creating a level of trust that unified various tribes around one thing that they could all agree on through storytelling of ‘what could be.' He wanted to help others who followed behind him do the same so he wrote The 27 Articles to share with them.Scott has taken these Lawrencian skills and adapted them to the Rooftop Leadership methodology and in this series will share the 27 Waterline Articles for the Rooftop Leader with you so that you are better equipped to lead through the disengagement, distrust, and distraction brought on by prolonged isolation, low trust, and uncertainty. If you'll lean into these and integrate them into your life and business, you will be more attuned to the people you lead and be able to look at human behavior in a new way that allows you to lead at a higher level. Just as the episode title implies, I'm going to read Article 13. In the beginning of the episode, I talk about some changes to my recording setup and my episode schedule. To skip that, fast forward about two minutes.
In today's lecture we would like to delve into a crucial aspect of our Constitution that safeguards our fundamental rights and ensures the sanctity of our democracy – Article 12 and Article 13. These provisions define the term 'State' and establish the doctrine of judicial review, respectively. Firstly, let's understand the significance of Article 12. The term 'State' appears repeatedly in the context of fundamental rights throughout our Constitution. To avoid ambiguity and provide clarity, Article 12 defines the term 'State' explicitly for the purposes of Part III, which deals with fundamental rights. According to Article 12, the 'State' includes: The Government and Parliament of India, encompassing the executive and legislative organs of the Union government. The Government and Legislature of states, including the executive and legislative organs of state governments. All local authorities, such as municipalities, panchayats, district boards, improvement trusts, and more. All other authorities, whether statutory or non-statutory, like LIC (Life Insurance Corporation), ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation), SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited), and others. In essence, the definition of 'State' is broad, encompassing all its agencies, both governmental and non-governmental. This wide interpretation ensures that actions taken by these agencies can be subject to judicial scrutiny if they violate fundamental rights. What's particularly noteworthy is the principle established by the Supreme Court, which states that even a private entity or agency, when operating as an instrument of the State, falls within the purview of the term 'State' under Article 12. This interpretation underlines the importance of accountability and upholding fundamental rights, even in interactions involving private entities. Now, let's turn our attention to Article 13, which is instrumental in upholding the integrity of our fundamental rights. Article 13 explicitly states that any law inconsistent with or derogatory to any of the fundamental rights shall be void. In simple terms, it enshrines the doctrine of judicial review, empowering the judiciary to scrutinize and strike down laws that infringe upon our fundamental rights. This power is vested in both the Supreme Court (under Article 32) and the high courts (under Article 226). These constitutional provisions grant the judiciary the authority to declare a law unconstitutional and invalid if it contravenes any of the fundamental rights guaranteed in our Constitution. The term 'law' in Article 13 is interpreted broadly, covering various types of legal instruments, including: This expansive definition ensures that not only legislation but any legal instrument can be challenged in the courts if it violates a fundamental right, leading to its declaration as void. It's important to note that Article 13 explicitly excludes constitutional amendments from its purview. However, a landmark decision by the Supreme Court in the Kesavananda Bharati case (1973) established that a constitutional amendment can be challenged if it violates a fundamental right that is considered a part of the 'basic structure' of the Constitution. This ruling ensures that even constitutional amendments can be subjected to judicial review when they threaten the core principles and fundamental rights enshrined in our Constitution. #UPSC #IASprep #civilserviceexam #IASexamination #IASaspirants #UPSCjourney #IASexam #civilservice #IASgoals #UPSC2022 #IAS2022 #civilservant #IAScoaching #aUPSCmotivation #IASmotivation #UPSCpreparation #IASpreparation #UPSCguide #IASguide #UPSCtips #IAStips #UPSCbooks #IASbooks #UPSCexamstrategy #IASexamstrategy #UPSCmentorship #IASmentorship #UPSCcommunity #IAScommunity #UPSCpreparation #IASpreparation #UPSCguide #IASguide #UPSCtips #IAStips #UPSCbooks #IASbooks #UPSCexamstrategy #IASexamstrategy #UPSCmentorship #IASmentorship #UPSCcommunity #IAScommunity --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theiascompanion/message

"In reference to those of different faiths, President Gordon B. Hinckley said, “Look for their strengths and their virtues, and you will find strength and virtues that will be helpful in your own life.” In striving to live a good, faithful life and foster loving family relationships in an ever-changing world, there is indeed much strength and virtue that we can gain from our Jewish friends and their examples." David Dollahite reads the article, "What We Can Learn from ritual and Tradition in American Jewish Families" which was originally published in Meridian Magazine on September 23, 2019.

Sadly, some churches become obsessed by holiness which is secretly a back door to salvation by works. It is easy to turn our holiness into a good work. However, the bible teaches that our salvation and our holiness are all about grace - a God given gift.
We look at article thirteen--WE AFFIRM that some cultures operate on assumptions that are inherently better than those of other -cultures because of the biblical truths that inform those worldviews that have produced these distinct -assumptions. Those elements of a given culture that reflect divine revelation should be celebrated and -promoted. But the various cultures out of which we have been called all have features that are worldly -and sinful-and therefore those sinful features should be repudiated for the honor of Christ. We affirm -that whatever evil influences to which we have been subjected via our culture can be-and must be--overcome through conversion and the training of both mind and heart through biblical truth.-WE DENY that individuals and sub-groups in any culture are unable, by God's grace, to rise above -whatever moral defects or spiritual deficiencies have been engendered or encouraged by their respective -cultures.
Full article available at: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23234490 Today more than ever we are seeking tools and answers for our producers. These are unprecedented times with unprecedented decisions. I have been involved in many calls, discussions and interactions that have sought a solution to theses problems. The ultimate conclusion is that there is not one single answer. For some producers there will just be pain and potential loss, some extreme hardship they can persevere through and others will be able to make it through unscathed. But each operation has many tough decisions ahead and we are responsible for helping them make these decisions. It is for this reason I present this study today as a means to help you, help each of your producers come to the realization of what they need. Pain, fear, depression and anxiety are powerful emotions and can cloud the human mind to available options in a time a crisis. It is my hope that you can use the information in this study to cause a shift in your client’s mind and help them come to the unique solution that might only work for their operation but WILL WORK and WILL GIVE THEM A PLAN! Ultimately, we as consultants may not be able to provide any plan for an operation, much like a placebo pill we will have no solution, BUT the act of saying the operator can create a plan to survive may cause a mental shift and thus lead to a positive impact or solution being generated on our clients operations. Article Summary: Mobilizing unused resources: Using the placebo concept to enhance cognitive performance Published by U.W. Weger and S. Loughnan Objective: The main objective of this study was to explore whether the placebo principle can be used outside the medical setting to enhance cognitive performance. Hypothesis: The author hypothesized that participants in the placebo condition who believed that they had been exposed to the correct answers would subliminally score higher than participants in the control condition. Location: University of Witten-Herdecke Germany and University of Melbourne Australia Methods: To do so, we employed a modified placebo induction—a bogus priming method that we told participants would unconsciously enhance their knowledge and that they should hence trust their skills in an upcoming knowledge test. Outcomes: Participant performance was indeed enhanced, compared to a group that did not think the priming process would improve their knowledge. The study documents the relevance of the placebo effect outside the medical and therapeutic setting.

The real problem with EU Article 13 - What many artists and creators don't understand yet. My opinion on Europe's article 13 and the danger for open discourse and free speech and how many artists don't understand what it's about. It's been decided but not how exactly it will be implemented. Let's all be aware of changes that limit our ways to express in the future.
Episode #154 : While little attention was given by the U.S. population at large, the creative class, and musicians in particular, paid close attention to the wars waged over the EU's new copyright directive, known colloquially as Article 13. Although is has yet to be ratified, and passed into law by its member states, Article 13 has the potential to close the “safe harbor” loophole for UGC giants like YouTube, Soundcloud, etc., which would make them wholly responsible, and liable, for all previously copyrighted material published on their platforms. Since these changes to EU law will affect the way these global brands do business, there's a good chance that changes in the European market will trickle out across the world, to the benefit of musicians and creators everywhere. On this episode, we hear from Helen Smith of Impala, Crispin Hunt of the Ivors Academy, and attorney Chris Castle. This episode is sponsored by DISCO! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

All in all, a dark day for those who want freedom of speech and expression. Btw none of these are facts, its all just opinion yall!

This week, your dynamic duo of Bob & Kevin discussed Mr. Z's 4 simple rules - or the biggest corporate cop out we have seen in quite some time. Anyway, we digress. In addition to discussing the op ed that appeared in the Washington Post, we discussed the recent events surround Article 13, or is it now Article 17? Anyway, we talk master copyright databases mixed in with a little bit of Star Trek governmental wisdom and we finally end up talking about Google's ethics committee for AI that apparently can't even sit at the same table with each other. As usual, you can find us on twitter as the @bobandkevinshow and we are instagram as @bobnkevinshow (not sure why they limit those characters... grrr) - drop us a line! Tom installed a new ventilation system in his studio because he had the suspicion that SLA resin fumes caused him having problems working there for longer periods of time.
