Caroline Clifford stammt aus der Nähe von London und landete nach einigen Jahren als Singer-Songwriterin dann bei der Comedy. Seit 2011 lebt sie in Berlin und wechselt zwischen Stand-up und Impro-Comedy. Gemeinsam mit Paul Salamone gründete sie hier 2013 die erste regelmäßige Comedy-Show auf Englisch, We Are Not Gemüsed. Drei Jahre später folgte die Berlin Stand-up School, "to help the exponentially growing English language comedy scene". In dieser Folge spricht Caroline über ein Bit über den Keymaster, das auf einer wahren Geschichte basiert, aber als Stand-up-Bit bis ins Absurde ausgeschmückt wurde. Weil sie einen Firmenschlüssel ihres Arbeitgebers verloren hat, muss sich Caroline im Bit auf die Suche nach einem Ersatz begeben: durch von Fackeln erleuchtete Höhlen, vorbei an Fledermäusen und allerhand buckligen Charakteren. Außerdem geht es um die wichtigste Voraussetzung für Stand-up, die Schwierigkeit, eine Bühnenpersona zu finden, und darüber, was die Berliner Stand-up-Szene im internationalen Vergleich so besonders macht. How are we going to survive this month of Sundays? Berlin freelancers are being promised €5000 cash, but who can get it and how? Rent payments could be delayed so we can stay in our flats and keep our shops. And… what good changes have come from our time under lockdown? Keen to maintain their distance from one another, Radio Spaetkauf's Joel Dullroy, Jöran Mandik, Daniel Stern- in Berlin- and Maisie Hitchcock - in the UK- linked up remotely using the wonders of modern technology. The lockdown has expanded: restaurants and cafes can no longer open their doors, but supermarkets can, even on Sundays. Although they don't actually seem to want to. More radically, Spätkaufs have finally received legal permission to open on Sundays! Sick of staying indoors? You might have to get used to it. Gatherings of more than 2 people are now forbidden, as is going out in more than twos, unless you're a family. But Berlin's Mayor Michael Müller doesn't want to bring in a total lockdown. His coalition partners the Greens and Die Linke are also wary of restricting everyone to their apartments. The Berlin CDU is calling for a 21 day total lockdown. Morality over science? Reports about so-called corona parties are getting old folks worked up into a moral panic. But are young people really to blame? Joel makes a case for defending the young, who have sacrificed their liberty and opportunities during the crisis, in order to protect the old. Self-employed or freelance and wondering how you're going to survive? Help is at hand: the German government has announced a plan for an aid package for the self-employed and other small companies in the Corona crisis. We talk about some of the options on the table, as well as extending tax deadlines, options for KSK members , and applying for good old-fashioned Hartz IV. No earnings, means that both tenants and landlords with mortgages will be struggling. Luckily there's the rent delay law, and a proposed mortgage holiday for landlords. We're out in the woods for Mobile Kino's annual camping trip. The Lakeside Film Festival is in its sixth year, and this was the biggest so far. We interview founders Joshua and Fernando about their recent scare with Facebook's business-killing algorithm. How will Berlin's five-year rent cap affect you? If you got a rent increase notice before June 18, you may have to pay it. But the rental experts at Wenigermiete.de say at least 50% of rent increase notices have technical errors that make them invalid. Check with them first before you sign anything - it could save you cash for years to come. What could happen to Berlin under a strict rent cap? Investors may flee - or be incentivised to build new flats, which are exempt from the rent cap. Landlords may stop maintaining their buildings - but renters can undertake the maintenance themselves and deduct the costs from their rent. Joel says the biggest thing to fear under a rent cap is ourselves. Tenants will be tempted to sublease at higher rates. Berlin's renters will need to stick together and resist overcharging our housemates. There's a state election on in Brandenburg. The Alternative für Deutschland, or AfD, is leading in the polls at 21%, and also have the most posters up on the countryside roads. We discuss their empty slogans, which appeal to the grievances of East Germans who feel left behind the rest of the country, without offering any real policies to boost the local economy. Those who take themselves too seriously are lame. Those who like fun are better. Niklas Wandt is a Berlin based instrumentalist, producer and disc jockey who has worked on a sprawling array of musical endeavours across years. As the founder of the Smells party at Sameheads in the German capital he has found firm friends amidst the likes of Jan Schulte, with whom he released a collaborative album on Growing Bin Records last year, Cass., Kris Baha and Sascha Funke. The latter of which he has recently worked alongside to produce a new record for the ever exciting Multi Culti Record label. His roots lie within a sea of abstract music, experimental discoveries and tall tales. His influences range from dub to Kosmisch synth excursions, balearic to jazz, percussion freakouts to abstract pop and the wide realm beyond. As a result this mix and his own approach as a disc jockey is far reaching with a playful edge, the journey should cast a smile, the sounds simply a reflection of his personality and taste across a lifetime spent discovering new noise.

Rising temperatures are starting to melt our cold hearts. The only way to celebrate this for us is to bring you a company of two talented producers. Laura and Andrea are part of an exciting project, probably already well known to you - As Longitude. You probably also know Andrea as Eva Geist, who has just released a phenomenal album full of minimal electronic gems and ambient experiences. As Longitude have release a 5 track EP on Knekelhuis, which is in very short supply even on reseller websites and demands a bit of an investment. Blauer Part is a fantastic collection of well balanced minimalism, sound design and experimentation. I really hope they are working on the next release, or better yet, a full album. You could have also seen a track on the MMODEMM compilation and the first Eine Welt release. Of course there is also a mixtape released on Sameheads. If you can get your hands on one, it is highly recommended. It is also available on Soundcloud, for those who prefer digital. We are back in Sameheads in Berlin for this recording. 2015 has seen the release of a magical album. A symbiosis of guitar music, electronics and ambient sounds. Some are "pop" enough to be played on the commercial radios, but we all know what is the situation with those nowadays and why quality music usually is skipped on mainstream radio. Don't know about you, but 3 years later that first album still sounds fresh and definitely is very memorable. Die Wilde Jagd return this year with a brand new album, pushing it even further. It is sometimes hard to establish if it was meant for mass consumption or club use. I guess the best thing is that some tracks work for both worlds equally. The album is out April 6th. We went to Berlin, and with the help of Nathan and Gareth recorded Sebastian from Die Wilde Jagd in one of the brightest venues in the city - Sameheads. Probably already well known to you for their magical parties and their unforgettable mixtape series. Sebastian joins our series to discuss his influences - music that inspired him and the new album in particular.

UK artist Gatto Fritto is someone who operates in the shadows, in his own little world. The man born Ben Williams played our Selectors festival in Croatia last year and holds down residencies at Berlin institutions Sameheads and Renate, which prove why he is such a revered DJ. His work as a producer, too, has resulted in some exceptionally cosmic disco on standard bearers like International Feel and Dissident, as well as his own Fritto Morto. It’s twinkling, spine tingling stuff awash with melodies, FX and astral synths that transport you into the cosmos. A sense of frosty melody and plenty of pixelated synths characterise the nearly two hour selection he has put together for us here. It starts in abrasive and arresting fashion with serrated lines and stark drums before unravelling into sci-fi grooves then Italo, proto-disco and slippery electro. After exploring these diverse yet interconnected sound worlds for the first half, the second half races through an icy and intergalactic brand of techno that leaves you utterly breathless.

This summer's bad weather is affecting local fruit supply. Yields of regional apples, pears, cherries and plums are down by about 50%, pushing prices up by 15%. In other apple news, there's controversy at the Apfelfest in Guben in south-east Brandenburg. A man is suing the organizer of the Apple Queen competition, claiming the vote was rigged in favour of a female contestant. He said voters were mislead as the winner didn't have a driver's license. English speaking waiters in Berlin are getting on the nerves of CDU politician Jens Spahn, who said they should be able to take orders in German. He also criticized Germans who talk to each other in English as being elitist. Air Berlin has officially filed for bankruptcy after 37 years in operation. Germany's second largest airline has been losing money, passengers and their luggage for years. Now several airlines are fighting to buy the scraps of Air Berlin, which owns some valuable landing spots at key airports. The airline is still operating and tickets are still valid. A music journalist, producer and a DJ. One of the Sameheads longest serving residents, having recently released a Sameheads mixtape of indescribable perfection. Probably better known to all of you as producer on Power Station, Power Cuts, MMODEMM, Präsens Editionen and others. He has got a lot to say, and we are sure he will continue bringing his sound out. To start off, lets have a listen to what inspired and influenced him. Second hour, straight after some slow music, old forgotten synth pop, and more stuff that is meant for individuals, not the mass.

The dance scene in Istanbul might not be one of the most talked about in the world, but whenever it is mentioned it’s impossible not to talk about Zozo. She is a left of centre DJ who was previously in charge of the musical direction of Hush, a gallery and bar on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, and nowadays she plays cult clubs like De School and Salon des Amateurs. She has also put out key cassettes like ‘Witchez of Anatolia’ on Sameheads, as well as being part of the famous curveball label Macadam Mambo. Reaching for curious sounds from her homeland as well as new wave, disco, synth pop, house and acid, a Zozo set of "oriental crime" is as magical as it is mysterious. And her mix for us is no different. In her own words, "frogs, communication, Russians, aliens, nature, wizards, friends, psychedelia, technology, joy, fear, love, human beings, publicity, toxic world and internet" are all sources of inspiration here and it shows. Her 75 minute set is wholly intoxicating, with synthetic sounds and real world samples, languid grooves and drunken rhythm all slowly unfolding and pulling you into their midst before tripping you out. It's weird and wonderful, and sounds like little else out there right now.

Private Agenda mixes are always a joy and it is with great pleasure we present their Clandestino entry. Nick, Martin and Sean beautifully weave together elements of boogie, disco and classic house to form a contemporary balearic beat sound with live elements that was showcased with such style on their debut EP for International Feel earlier this year. A follow up EP is due next year with more exciting music planned on Catune, Wall Of Sound and Tusk Wax.
