Dr. Polite is a native of Philadelphia, and a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU & Bellevue hospitals, where she served as the Administrative Chief Resident and received the Lyman Barton Memorial Chief Resident award. Upon graduation, Dr. Polite joined the faculty at NYU and served as the Associate Residency Program Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In August 2010, Dr. Polite joined the LSU faculty as an attending in the Generalist Division of OB/GYN, becoming Director of the Residency Program in 2012, Director of the Generalist Division in 2014, and the Director of Faculty and Resident Development in 2017. In this capacity, Dr. Polite is responsible for the largest division in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology including four clinical practice sites. Dr. Kathie-Ann Joseph is a surgeon and researcher at New York University Langone Health where she specializes in breast surgery and oncology surgery. Joseph is also the chief of breast surgery at Bellevue Medical Center, where she was recognized in 2015 as Bellevue's Physician of the Year. Joseph works to reduce disparities in cancer care in order to improve health care for individuals in need. Specifically, Joseph focuses on developing programs that will help African-American women to address their needs in breast cancer prevention and care. She is also studying the effects of a cell surface receptor molecule called RAGE which appears to play a role in tumor growth. Dr. Joseph is the first African-American woman to be appointed to the faculty at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in the Department of Surgery. She has presented before the President's Cancer Panel, an advisory board to the President of the United States. and has advised the New York State Cancer Consortium on the development of its cancer control plan. In 2009, Essence magazine included her among the year's 25 Most Influential African Americans. Dr. Kelly Bay is a functional medicine practitioner in Midtown Manhattan with an evidence based, comprehensive approach to improve health and wellness.. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic, Master's in Human Nutrition with a focus in Functional Medicine and Bachelor of Science in General Studies: Natural Sciences & Mathematics degrees from the University of Bridgeport. Dr. Bay has additional licenses as a clinical nutrition specialist and certified dietician nutritionist. She has worked with various HIV nonprofit organizations, providing functional protocols for HIV patients with health issues such as: diabetes, IBS, kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, cancer and several other HIV related comorbidities. Dr. Bay received an award from the LGBT Network, along with congressional recognition, in December 2019, for her innovative functional medicine approaches aimed at improving the health status of HIV+ individuals. She also recently co-founded a non-profit organization aimed at continued functional and regenerative medicine research and education, called The Foundation of Regenerative and Functional Medicine. Ankara Savone has been entertaining people with her quick wit and charismatic personality her entire life. In 2006 she attended the New York Film Academy for the 1 year intensive acting program. While studying at New York Film Academy, she was pulled into a comedic direction and began studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), studying improvisation. Through her desire to become a diverse performer and comedian, in 2014 Ankara made her stand up debut at the Broadway Comedy Club and since has performed at some of the top clubs in New York City such as the New York Comedy Club, Comic Strip Live, Broadway Comedy Club, and Caroline's on Broadway. In 2016 Ankara started a weekly podcast, "The Gone Girls", interviewing people from all walks of life which includes a cold read sketch segment. In 2017 "The Gone Girls" performed their first live show at Carolines on Broadway to a sold out audience of more than 300 people. She continued studying improvisation at the Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) in 2017 and is a member of two independent improv teams "Homeroom" and "The Jayne's", which were both accepted into 2018 ImprovFest. In 2019, she became a member of the house team, 6 foot baby; which performs weekly at The Pit. She is constantly creating fresh and unique content through various online outlets and comedic web series, which reaches hundreds of thousands of views. Ankara is a comedian by its purest form whether it's improv, stand up, podcasting, or creating original content; and continues to work with fellow performers who want to create laughter together.
