In this final episode of Nancy's reading from Chapter 12 of The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee, she closes with a deeply personal and piercing reflection on what it means to live in the continual light of God. The Father isn't satisfied with outward strength, talent, or good works—He is after the source. Through the “flash” of His light, He exposes what is still powered by self and reveals what must come fully under the government of His Spirit. Nancy reminds us that the cross doesn't just deal with obvious sin but also with the subtle independence of the soul—the self-driven good that still resists full dependence on the Father. This is a call to ongoing surrender, to invite the Spirit's continual illumination, and to allow the Father to express His life through us without mixture or striving. Thanks for Listening! In today's episode, Nancy continues reading Chapter 12 of The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee, diving into the section titled “Natural Energy in the Work of God.” This powerful reading confronts one of the most subtle dangers in Christian life—relying on our natural gifts, talents, or intellect to do spiritual work, rather than depending wholly on the life of Christ within. It's not about what we can do for God, but about whether what we do originates from Him. Nancy invites us to ask: Are we simply changing the subject of our interests, or have we truly shifted the source of our power? This is a call to stop relying on soul strength and instead allow the cross to bring death to what is merely natural, so resurrection life can flow. The episode is a strong call to discern the origin of our energy and let God's light search us—because only what begins in Him will remain. Thanks for Listening! In today's episode, Nancy continues her series on the maturing of the soul and its proper submission to the Spirit by reading from The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee—Chapter 12: “The Cross and the Soul Life.” With depth and clarity, she reminds us that while our soul is a God-given faculty, it was never meant to rule. The cross of Christ doesn't annihilate the soul—it restores it to its right order under the Spirit. This episode exposes the subtle danger of living by our own strength, intellect, or emotions rather than the indwelling life of Christ. Through Watchman Nee's insights and Nancy's reflections, listeners are challenged to discern whether they are still “living by the soul” or truly walking in the Spirit. The pruning work of the Father may cut deep—but it's His way of making room for the full expression of the Son within us. Thanks for Listening! In our sermon series, The Life God Has Always Wanted For You, Pastor Richard Fellars talks about how Sabbath rest is a gracious, God-ordained rhythm that invites us into holiness—not through striving, but by abiding in the finished work of Christ, including: THE PATTERN OF SABBATH REST IN SCRIPTURE (Genesis 2:1–3; Exodus 3; Isaiah 6; Hebrews 4:9–11; Matthew 11:28–30), THE PRINCIPLE OF SABBATH REST (Matthew 11:28–29), and THE PRACTICE OF SABBATH REST (Romans 14:5; Mark 2:27–28). The more accurately we know God, the more fully we can love Him. Ignorance, wrong knowledge, and mischaracterization undermine our love relationship with Yahweh. Keeping Jesus' commandments is paramount to loving God which includes love each other. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Wholehearted devotion, obedience, mindfulness, passion and concern for how others perceive God are involved in loving God. Matthew 22:37-38 Total devotion is our foremost duty Heart – Innermost being from whence the issues of life stem Soul – Life, self, person, desire, passion, emotions Might or strength – All the energy, effort, and capabilities we possess, using our actions, resources, and physical being to love Yahweh Foremost is used to emphasize that something holds the top spot in terms of significance or priority. Knowledge Obedience Loving one another Ignorance, wrong knowledge, and mischaracterization of Yahweh are crippling to our love relationship with God. Numbers 14:10-20 Moses understood Yahweh's characteristics and wanted others to think well of Him. Does our love for God motivate us to stand up for His glorious name? 1 Samuel 17:43-47 David wanted Yahweh exalted above all. Racism has been America's lingering cancer. There is no question that great strides have been made in eradicating this evil from our culture since the bad old days of slavery and Jim Crow. But alas, the urgent task is not completed, and as a result, a great divide still lingers among too many Americans based on superficial and irrelevant differences of skin color and hair texture. Listening to each other's stories and understanding differing perspectives are crucial medicines in healing this great wound in our collective national soul. My guest today is an expert communicator in this regard, helping to build bridges and palliate bitterness across racial divides. The Reverand Dr. Arthur Cribbs, Jr. is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, a former network television journalist, radio talk show host, and documentarian. He is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, obtained his Master's of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary in 1986, and his Doctor of Ministry and Ethics from Claremont School of Theology in 2009. Cribbs produced and hosted the television special, “Stories of the Soul: Life after 9/11,” for which he received an Emmy Award. He was nominated for an Emmy for his documentary: Changing Faces of AIDS. He is the former executive director of the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity and has been a long-time ethics instructor for the California Department of Justice working with police departments to improve law enforcement. Due to his many contributions in serving his community, the City of San Diego proclaimed, February30, 2007 as The Reverend Arthur Cribbs Day. Now, Cribbs has written what he calls an “autobiographical novel”—HollyWatts: From the Promised Land to Purgatory, actually a memoir recounting his life growing up in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he witnessed the destruction of an important African-American community under the onslaught of drugs, gang violence, and ruling class indifference. Cribbs is currently Senior Pastor of the Christian Fellowship Congregational Church in San Diego, CA. This episode of Living Myth tells the story of Gustave Fechner, a scientist and professor of physics who went blind while doing experiments involving human sight. After years of living in utter darkness, his eyesight returned, bringing with it a renewed vision of the world. After decades of looking at the world through the lens of physics and the hard sciences, Fechner had a spiritual awakening that brought a deeply personal connection to the living pulse of nature. Having dwelt for years in darkness, the doctor had developed a kind of vision that revealed the living soul of nature. His book on The Soul Life of Plants showed how plants and trees are part of an ensouled world. It was an international best seller for over seventy-five years. Dr. Fechner became a renowned teacher of natural philosophy and “psychophysics,” a branch of psychology which refuted the artificial separation between mind and body, between subject and object. In the great lost and found of the cosmos, important knowledge keeps being forgotten. It also keeps trying to become conscious again, but tends to do so after we have experienced a period of darkness. When the world turns dark again, as it has now, it's important to know that the inner light of the soul is not a reflection from the outer world, but an inner light itself, a visionary flame that burns with emotional heat and vitality, but also with a capacity for illumination. Everyone has access to a key that can open the door to a meaningful life, yet each must enter their own darkness in order to discover it. In learning how to follow the light hidden within our own darkness, we help break the spell of single-eyed vision that has damaged the living realm of nature and help in the recovery of all that has been lost in terms of genuine vision, ancient wisdom and the underlying unity of life. Daniel has always been aware of the energy of nature. Then he realised he could digest energy within himself, like he was able to do in nature. Its been:
Here's a sneaky podcast episode from me. As I dive deeper into the spiritual world, I understand that healing happens on so many different levels. Much like in Project 22, when I wrapped up my year I saw why I do this work - because I'm notthe norm, and that's ok. The spiritual work helps me heal on a deeper level and I can only do that through expanding and contracting, not though 'hoping' everything will work out.
