Three news stories summarized & contextualized by analytic journalist Colin Wright.Trump barred from Colorado primary ballot for role in US Capitol attackSummary: The Colorado Supreme Court has voted 4-3 to disqualify former-President Trump from appearing on the state's primary ballot because of the role he played in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.Context: This is being seen as a very big deal, and it's likely the federal Supreme Court will speed-run its own take on the matter sometime in the next two weeks, as the state has delayed the implementation of this judgement until January 4 to allow for an appeal; the general consensus amongst experts seems to be that although there's arguably firm legal basis for this ruling, based on a Civil War-era Constitutional rule that says folks who engage in “insurrection or rebellion” can't hold office, there's little chance of it holding up at the federal level, the wording of that rule potentially providing a toehold for those who might argue against its applicability in this case, though if it did, we would likely see a cascade of similar cases in other US states which would substantially alter the electoral playing field heading into 2024's presidential election season.—ReutersOne Sentence News is a reader-supported publication. Context: These protestors were arrested, as were two more who engaged in the same sort of protest at the same time outside of parliament, and notably this happened on the 22nd anniversary of an attack on India's parliament which left 14 people, including five of the attackers, dead; these suspensions are being seen by many as indications that Modi and his party are attempting to disempower their opposition, booting them from government, headed toward an anticipated, but not yet scheduled, 2024 election.—BBC NewsThough survey-based data indicate many Americans are still feeling a little ho-hum about the country's financial situation, the US economy has done far better in 2023 than most analysts expected, and is reportedly in a solid spot to keep the party going in 2024.—Axios1.67 terabytesVolume of private data stolen by hackers who attacked video game company Insomniac, that data then released after the company declined to pay a $2 million ransom.Insomniac is perhaps best known for its well-reviewed Spider-Man Playstation games, and this data-trove contained footage from an upcoming title based on the Marvel character Wolverine—alongside information about other upcoming games, and the personal information of thousands of current and former company employees.—The VergeTrust Click Get full access to One Sentence News at onesentencenews.substack.com/subscribe

Who remembers Throwback Thursdays? Are we too old for that? I feel like we might be getting a bit too old for that. Anyhow, since we don't have a new episode for you this week, we've decided to put together a clip show for all of you, whether you've been with us from the very beginning (God bless you) or whether this is your very first time listening to us (then you're in for a TREAT just so you know) you'll get to experience some of the highlights, of the lowlights of the first 15 episodes of our podcast. The fact that we've been doing this for 2 and a half years at this point is a truly mind-blowing thing to think about, so even if the show was a bit rougher, the jokes a bit cruder, it's still fun to reminisce on how far we've come. So pull up a chair and let us regale you with some utter silliness from the Almost Accurate vault. Episodes featured: Episode 1- What Makes a Good Super Hero Film? Episode 2- The Disaster Artist Episode 3- Marvel's Spider-Man (PlayStation 4) Episode 4- Venom Episode 6- Halloween (2018) Episode 7- Read Dead Redemption 2 Episode 8- Syro Reignited Trilogy & Castlevania Requiem Collection Episode 10- The Grinch Episode 12- Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! & more Read Dead Redemption 2 Episode 13- Aquaman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Episode 14, Birdbox, Holmes and Watson Episode 15- Bumblebee, 2019 Predicitons

Tread Perilously concludes its annual horror month with another annual Halloween tradition: an episode of Supernatural. This year, it's the season six episode "Clap Your Hands If You Believe ..." When Sam and Dean follow the trail of disappearances to a town where everyone assumes its aliens, Dean ends up abducted and learns the truth: it's not aliens, it's fairies. Sam's current lack of soul makes their quest all the more difficult as small folk prepare for war. Will he learn to fake empathy long enough to convince a local watchmaker to join their cause? Will Supernatural ever realize a better fight than Dean vs. a fairie? Erik and Justin praise writer Ben Edlund and finally make their views on The Tick very clear. Justin keeps delaying Erik's discussion of the cornfield. Erik admits he cannot tell the difference between UFO experts Bud Hopkins and Stanton J. Friedman. A discussion of C-level Marvel characters ensues. Erik points out a nice detail on the beloved Supernatural motel set. Justin reveals the scene which won him over and why introducing Black Panther and Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War was the right call. A surprise review of the Spider-Man Playstation 4 game occurs and Erik offers an important warning about signing contracts with Fairies.
