Hey there trophy hunters! Welcome back to another episode of TTP! Every once in a while one of those games comes along that seems to be in the zeitgeist in our community. One of those games where many people appear to be playing it, and going back to it for trophies at the same time. We've had this before with things like Battlefield 1, Rogue Company, and most notably Fall Guys. This time though, that game is Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch's 2020 Samurai open world adventure game and its attached "Legends" game mode. At the same time, one of the biggest releases of the month comes to us in the form of Rise of the Ronin, developed by Team NINJA. The funny thing is, not only do these games share a similar aesthetic due to their setting and subject matter, but the trophy lists for these games appear to follow very similar structures. Is this due to the general philosophy behind designing open world games? Or is it due more to Sony's influence acting as publisher for Rise of the Ronin this go around? In addition to Rise of the Ronin the team also looks at a gorgeous and seemingly great indie game trophy list with Planet of Lana, a game that came to Xbox and Game Pass last year but is finally migrating over to PlayStation in April. Last but not least we examine and review Alone in the Dark's trophy list. The long dormant survival horror series developed by Pieces Interactive is back, and while the reviews are varied and run the full spectrum of opinions, perhaps the most cardinal sin the game commits is that upon launch it's platinum trophy is unobtainable. All of this and more is just behind the play button, thank you so much for listening, and happy gaming! =)

We have a special guest returning to the podcast this week: Justin Varghese! Justin is the North American Marketing Manager at DreamHack. We invite him on to discuss the future of gaming conventions during and after COVID. It's a great discussion on how the team at DreamHack has been navigating this time and preparing for what conventions will be going forward when we return to the new normal.Justin also graciously joins us for the rest of the podcast where we talk about Rogue Company, a new shooter from the creators of Paladins and Realm Royale. This is a more casual take on the traditional shooter and both Austin and Brett had a good time in most cases navigating the systems inspired by games like Counter-Strike, Overwatch and more. We also derail in a debate about the Apple vs. Epic Games controversy and finally close the games segment with Justin's impressions of Monster Train! Monster Train is an awesome deck-building roguelike game that is similar to Slay the Spire and a ton of fun.In our news, we talk about the announcement for both Gotham Knights and Rocksteady's Suicide Squad. We also discuss the new co-op mode coming to Ghosts of Tsushima, Battlefield 6 potentially supporting 128 players and finding out who the "Fallen One" was in Fall Guys. Many thanks to Justin for joining us, make sure you check him out over on Twitter @jvarg1990. Today we talk about the new 3rd person shooter on the scene: Rogue Company and what we like about it, what we don't like and a couple things we hope are fixed once the non-beta version is released.
This week was full of big announcements including the fact that Halo Infinite's multiplayer would be free to play, details about the beta for Marvel's Avengers and most important of the, the 2020 Emmy Nominations. We run through all the major nominations and give our opinions on who we want to win, who we think will win and who was snubbed *cough* Carl Weathers *cough*. Last week, we held a giveaway for Rogue Company beta codes and today all the winners get a special shout out. Last but certainly not least, America's Got Talent held their Judge Cuts this past week and made one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the show. We rage about their terrible choice and sing the praises of the one hope left for the show, BONAVEGA. If there's one thing you take away from this episode, let it be the fact that you must vote BONAVEGA to win AGT. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/culture-popped/message

Today on a Random Chit Chat edition of Culture Popped we're delving into the Xbox Game Showcase that happen this week. Which games were shown, did they impress and what was Microsoft really trying to sell, the games or Game Pass. We also give our thoughts on the Halo Infinite gameplay, whether we think it's doomed because of the graphics or if they ruined Halo by *gasp* adding a grappling hook and a sprint feature. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is a movie that touched all of our hearts and we're talking it's chances at the next Oscars to scoop up Best Original Song for JaJa Ding Dong (or Husavik but hopefully JaJa Ding Dong because that's what we all really want to hear). The new NHL team the Seattle Kraken is also discussed (about how cool it is), we talk about a new game called Rocket Arena (it's very fun) and most special of all we're giving away 4 North American PS4 beta keys for the Rogue Company closed beta. Just listen for the secret code word and tweet Hunter what is for your chance to win one. As you can see, it's a very diverse range of topics and that's what it's called Random Chit Chat because we're chitting and chatting about random things. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/culture-popped/message
