All bout stick fight

This week Dan and Dudley are back from PAX South. They played more Clank! And Dan tried out a little bit of Cuphead, Mordhau, and Stick Fight: The Game. He was also surprised to find out Ashen is now on the switch and that Rick & Morty: Close Rick-counter of the Rick Kind was not just a basic deck builder.

Ostatnio dosyć dużo zastanawiałem się [Maciej, dop. Maciej] nad nowym, a jak się okazuje to wcale nie takim nowym, pojęciem zjawiska, czy może raczej modelu biznesowego, jakim jest GaaS, czyli Gamę as a Service. No i jak ma się do tego płatna zbroja dla konia w grze Bethesdy – Oblivion. W obecnym, 62 odcinku, zaczęliśmy dyskusje nad tym, czym gry jako serwis są, czym nam się wydaje, że są i czym po prostu nie są. W związku z tym postanowiłem pochylić się troszkę bardziej nad tym tematem, ponieważ okazuje się on być całkiem interesujący (na swój pokrętny sposób). Literalnie GaaS to usługa, której usługobiorcami są, jak logika nakazuje, gracze. Na czym jednak ona polega? Zgodnie z opisem, jaki można znaleźć na angielskojęzycznej stronie Wikipedii, na ciągłym monetyzowaniu rozgrywki, poprzez dostarczanie graczom płatnej zawartości i wsparcia technicznego. Poniekąd sprowadza się to do ciągłego zmieniania i ulepszania gry, tak jak ma to miejsce w sławnym Fortnite. Termin GaaS narodził się w okolicach 2004 roku, wraz z premierą World od Warcraft, ale sama idea istniała już bardzo dawno. Uskuteczniała ją np. gra Ultima Online, która została wydana w 1997 (i  przejęta w 2004 roku, przez nasze ukochane Electronic Arts). Wyróżnia się wiele typów Gaas, m.in. czasowe subskrypcje do pojedynczych tytułów, lub całych bibliotek, Game on Demand, czyli odpowiednik giereczkowy VOD, który staje się coraz bardziej popularny (tzw. streaming gier), oraz mikropłatności i przepustki sezonowe. Jak sami widzicie z GaaS mamy do czynienia już od bardzo, bardzo dawna i stało się ono chlebem powszednim na rynku gier. Trzeba wspomnieć o tym, że cały rynek mobilnych gier to jedno wielkie GaaS. Słynna zbroja dla konia od Bethesdy do gry Oblivion, to nie była początek trendu, ale na pewno zalążkiem całej fali nowych sposobów na wyciąganie od graczy pieniędzy już po zakupie tytułu. Żeby też uczciwości stało się zadość, Piotr w tym odcinku ma całkowitą rację. Streaming gier nie jest tożsamy z GaaS. Jest jego integralną częścią, naturalną ścieżką rozwoju.
