What is intersession? What is our role in the sharing of the gospel? How do we connect with others around our common faith in Christ? in this final message of the Why Pray? series, Pastor Victor Nuwamanya affirms that prayer is a principle action of believers and one of the most important ways we can connect with God and others. Throughout time, people have asked the question…why am I here? For us as believers in Jesus Christ, it’s really a simple answer…TO KNOW GOD, AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN! We read our bibles, go to church, listen to Christian podcasts, pray, and spend a lot of effort in getting to know God, but what about making Him known? How often do we share about Jesus with those that don’t know Him? How do we do that? We will dive into Acts 17 this Sunday and see how the Apostle Paul made Jesus known and turned the world around him right side up.
Hosea 11-12 To Know God by Lincoln Baptist Church
John 7:17 — In its deepest time of need, the world did not receive the Son of God. This is as true today as it was when the Gospel of John was written. But why does the world persist in its unbelief? In light of its desperation, how is it possible that the world continues to reject the extraordinary message of the gospel? In this sermon on John 7:17 titled “To Know God,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones continues his study of unbelief and says that unbelief is moral rather than merely intellectual. He then goes on to expound why this must be the case based upon an understanding of the nature of God and the truth of the Christian faith. In their prejudice, people want to make Christianity an intellectual or detached academic endeavor. Intellectualism allows exploration of religion in lab coats rather than coming face-to-face with the fact that all are sinners who cannot approach a holy God with feeble intellect. While the majority of the world rejects the gospel of Christ, Christians have eyes to understand the moral dilemma and flee to Christ by faith. Listen to Dr. Lloyd-Jones teach on unbelief to not only understand its characteristics, but more importantly to worship the Son of Man who came to seek and save the lost.

To Know God's Love For You :: First Love Pt 2 by Rivertown Community Church
Welcome back! We cover much in our Pathways to God's presence series today. We invite you to grow into the moment by moment surrender to God's will and whisper as, together, we practice the presence of God today. Stephanie says, “There is a virtuous cycle between what we believe and who we become. We develop this strategy of turning belief into identity through habits of spiritual disciplines.” After establishing the dangers we face as we walk the pathways towards God – namely, the flesh, the world and the devil –, Stephanie takes us on a trip through the French language to experience spiritual disciplines as holy clothing to be worn daily. Then, we dive into the three aspects of prayer, Bible intake and worship we will cover today. They include, CONFESSION AS PRAYER: Confession is the path to freedom. Confession is not groveling before an angry God. It focuses on removing sin from self. It is an essential pathway to humility, self-knowledge. Honestly assess your heart before the Lord, daily, or more. Whenever you feel that little twinge of the heart, this little prick from the Holy Spirit who kindly informs you that you have need for forgiveness. He knows, and he lets you know. not to condemn you, but to bring you to freedom through releasing the burden for Him to carry and cancel. The habit of confession is powerful. It is the gateway to true, lasting freedom. MEDITATION AS BIBLE INTAKE: When we meditate upon Scripture, we practice the presence of God. We enter His presence, we remain and dwell there. It is a good foundation for a good day, and little by little the daily puzzle pieces of Christ-centered meditation color our lives with freedom, gratitude and no small measure of humility and patience. EVANGELISM AS WORSHIP: Pondering Scripture is a form of worship, too, in the sense that we are preaching the Word of Truth to our own hearts. It is a form of evangelism! And evangelism, which is the sharing of the truth of Scripture, is a powerful and effective form of worship. Confession in prayer. Meditation of Scripture. Evangelization as worship. They are all encapsulated in the dedication of the temple by Solomon, and they are rooted in the presence of God whose glory has come to dwell in our hearts and lives through the HS. Jesus has clothed you with garments of salvation, and equipped you with everything you need to walk the pathways to His presence. You are dedicated for holy use, set apart as a vessel created to honor your Lord and King. We are all priests and priestesses to God, in Christ. He has dressed you with the habit befitting your priestly set-apart position: “the victor will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels” (Revelation 3:5, HCSB). You are dressed in Christ with white robes of purity, victory, and eternal life. Your robe is your habit. BECOME A MEMBER TO ACCESS EXCLUSIVE LISTENING GUIDES FOR EACH EPISODE IN OUR SERIES! Our goal is to enter and remain in the presence of God through the pathways He has ordained for this purpose. The presence of God is our path and our destination. In Hebrew, the word Presence and the word Face are the same. In the ancient world without zoom and facetime, you could only be in the presence of someone when you were face to face with them. There was no remote presence. Each week we are going to approach the pathways to God's presence, or the spiritual disciplines, by linking one element of prayer with one aspect of Bible intake and one facet of worship. This is our second episode in our Pathways to God's presence series. If you missed our intro, please make sure to listen to last week's episode, episode 185. We spent time laying out the land of what this series is about –the spiritual disciplines with a twist. We established that Jesus is the only pathway to God's presence, and that He offers to teach us, through the Holy Spirit, how to nurture intimacy with God through the practice of timeless biblical principles that He himself role-modeled. If Jesus catered to His relationship with His Father through prayer, Scripture intake, and worship in various forms, then we too will benefit from the same. We are seeing today that prayer, in its essential form, is adoration. All the other elements of confession, thanksgiving and intercession are rooted in adoration. God is not safe confessing to, if he is not the utterly majestic Being we adore; God is not worthy of our thanks if He is not the resplendent glorious Being who gives us all things and works all things for our good; God is not safe coming to when we have needs, if He is not the perfectly omnipotent and otherworldly generous and gentle Sovereign who has chosen to be introduced to us with the meek and loving title of Father. About prayer, Stephanie says, “you are never more Christlike than when you adore God lavishly.” We consider the study of Scripture as the essential element to know God. We adore God most when we are most aware of His perfection, beauty, loveliness and holiness. In other words, when we are saturated with the knowledge of Him. And we can only know God from the place where He has specifically revealed Himself – Scripture. It means, we need to spend time in Scripture. We need to read it widely, and deeply both. We need to rake for leaves and dig for diamonds, as countless Bible teachers have described over many centuries. We interact with Scripture first and foremost to know God. Yes, the Bible gives us much about our relationships with one another, and about ourselves too. We will discuss these elements in the weeks to come. But the main, primary, most essential purpose of the Bible is to draw us into the presence of God. When the Holy Spirit who lives within our hearts opens the words of the Scriptures to us, we are allowed into the presence of God. We get a glimpse of His face and behold His presence. It transforms us forever because, like the light that shone on Moses face when he came down the mountain after having spent time with God, the light of the knowledge of the glory of God is found in the radiant face of Christ Jesus our Lord (2Cor 4:6). So, we read and study Scripture to know who God is. The essence of this approach is actually worship. My primary goal is to meet God through the pages that He wrote. I want to know Him more. If I can discern a new glimpse into His face, if I can learn something new about the depths of His love and kindness and majesty and power, then I am a happy camper. A happy worshiper. Bible intake should always stem from adoration and lead to worship, which are essentially the same thing. So today we looked at the element of adoration in prayer, and we have seen how intricately connected it is to the element of public worship. We have looked at a fresh way to study Scripture, all with the primary goal to KNOW GOD MORE because it's a virtuous cycle: the more you know God, the more you are going to desire to adore Him, and the more you adore Him, the purer your heart gets, and this allow you in turn to experience deeper intimacy with Him, which is the ultimate form of knowledge. Which leads to more adoration, etc. I think this is the ultimate virtuous cycle, spiritually speaking, this side of heaven. I believe it is the essence of what our experience in heaven will be: utter delight in His presence, a heart growing fuller each moment because of an ever-deeper awareness and experience of His presence, beauty and loveliness. I think we have utterly no idea of how enjoyable heaven will be. We have no frame of reference, no clue for the ecstasy that awaits. This holy cycle of adoration and intimacy with God is its closest equivalent here on earth. We have the fullness of the Spirit of Christ within us, because that same spirit had been living in the incarnated Christ. Jesus is the pathway to the presence of God, and more than that. He is God Himself. Jesus is the pathway and the destination. He is the way and the goal. The Holy Spirit is your teacher and guide into the pathways to the presence of God through Jesus Christ our matchless Lord. Adore, behold, worship Him who was, and is and is to come. What was God's purpose in the plagues and the exodus? Let's find out.... 1) The Essence of God's Aim- God's aim is to make himself known- to show his glory through Pharaoh, the Israelites and the exodus. Everything he does is aimed at this. We see this supremely at the cross where he gloriously displays his wisdom and justice and power and love and grace. 2) The Extent of God's Aim- God's aim is to make himself known in the widest scope imaginable. Here we see he is seeking to make himself known to 1) Pharaoh and the Egyptians 2) the Israelites and their descendants and 3) the whole earth. This is to be our aim to- to spread the knowledge of the Lord wherever we are and wherever we can.

Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Pastor Tim’s message, “To Know God”, reveals the nature of who God is in every season of our life.
Patsy had an idea. She knew a little bit about tech and she knew a lot about her God and the great comfort and truths found in His Word. She said: "I needed a place to share what God was giving me." Patsy made a committment to share whatever He would teach her that day on a social media platform every day—that's a big commitment. From that decision was born her ministry: InstaEncouragements. Patsy Burnette knows why she was born: to encourage others, especially the next generation. Listen to the founder of Instaencouragements.com today and find out how she does just that. Being raised under the banner of: "To Know God and to Make Him Known" inspired who Patsy is today—an empty nester yet poised for her next role of caregiving for her elderly parents. She's making her days count, and that's what legacy is all about. Her goal? To build a worldwide community of online encouragers, encouraging others to faith in Jesus Christ. She invites us to grab a cup of coffee and join the movement. Are you in? Follow Patsy on instagram for daily encouragement: @instaencouragements www.InstaEncouragments.com She's put her encouragement into a new devotional, Sweeter Than Honey which launches October 1 - just in time for Christmas gift-giving (and all around self-care.) It's a 365-day devotional journey that leads the reader through the Bible in chronological order of book authorship. Read more about it HERE. Patsy is a wife, mother of four, and grandmother. She is a Christian lifestyle blogger and content manager at InstaEncouragements.com and has a heart for encouraging women to grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ and then to share that with others. Patsy drinks more coffee and eats more dark chocolate than the average person. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and Ellie the cat. I get that. Art skipped me, as well as exercising on a regular basis. BUT she does share her husband's favorite breakfast recipe she makes for him—even bakes a loaf to take on vacations. Now, that's commitment! Thanks, Patsy. I've never baked a banana, but will try now. ___________ Summer can be the perfect time to welcome people in because they don't actually have to come in the house. Sometimes we view ourselves solely through others' expectations and views of us. Therefore, we never truly discover aspects of our authentic identity. TO KNOW GOD The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first . . .After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. —JOB 42:12,16
"To Know God" is to have an intimate, experiential relationship with him, It is not merely knowing of Him or acknowledging him. Knowing God is having a personal relationship with him that is based on fear, submission, and trust... and that is what the LORD promises in today's passage. That is what has been made available to each and every one of us through Christ Jesus.

Are you curious what your purpose is as a believer? It's simple, Scripture tells us that it is, To Know God and to Make Him Know.
The message of the Cross is foolishness to those with a carnal mind. Jesus didn't come and lead us into military victory or restore Israel's greatness as has been done in Solomon's time. He didn't do what most people in their natural senses would have expected a Messiah to do. Instead, he was crucified. We're preaching one who was killed, didn't live long, was hung in shame by the authorities as an example to others. He died without a natural kingdom. Alone. His followers had all deserted him. But... he rose again. The guy who looked foolish and weak, now risen, living by the power of God. Where's the "wise" now, Paul asks? The world, through wisdom, did not KNOW God. Without Jesus, all of man's best intentions to figure God out, by reading, studying, philosophizing, all come up short. To KNOW God, you enter into a friendship, a loving relationship with Him. We exist TO KNOW GOD & MAKE GOD KNOWN. When God created Adam and Eve, He walked in the garden with them (c.f. Gen 3:8). They knew each other intimately by spending time together. This is God’s desire for all of us: to have an intimate relationship with each of us. Jesus tells us to love Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, and soul (Matt 22:37). This means we are to know Him and love Him with everything we have. This love that God has for us and ours for him is not meant to be only private and selfish, but shared with others as well because God is jealous for us (Deut 4:23-24). He desires to know all of us in an intimate relationship. Therefore, this means we need to go out and make God known by sharing the Gospel and declaring God’s Word (c.f., Ps 96:2-4; Mark 16:15-16; Phlm 1:6).

Ron Mehl writes, “…if you consistently dishonor the Sabbath principle in your life, somewhere along the line the bills will come due. Things will begin to break down in your life…? When we think of remembering the Sabbath often what we think of is focusing on God – and while this is certainly a part of this, there is a reason that God gives us a day to REST. Tonight we will look at the whys of and importance of Sabbath and the role it plays in our life! To Know: God calls us all to a day of rest EVERY week! To Feel: Relief and excitement at the gift that God is giving To Do: Choose to honor the Sabbath…by actually changing your calendar to give yourself a day of Sabbath each week. Do the hard work!
When God penned the 10 commandments he gave us more than just “rules for living?. He actually was writing a profound love letter to us. These commandments are God’s way of telling us what he thinks, what he desires for us. Just as a father wants their own children to have the benefit of their wisdom, the experiences, etc – the same is true for God with us. Over the centuries this love letter has been turned into something critical, something unattainable – over the next few weeks we want to reclaim this as what it is – a love letter from a Father to his children. To Know: God penned one of the most profound love letters in the 10 Commandments To Feel: The depth of God’s love – that he would love us so much, he’d give us this letter to guide our lives To Do: Commit to discovering and living the 10 Commandments more fully
