In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite TV series: the award-winning 2003-2009 American military science fiction television series "Battlestar Galactica". A re-imagining of the 1978 "Battlestar Galactica" TV series by Glen A. Larson, the show was developed by and Executively Produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, beginning as a three-hour miniseries before being followed by four regular seasons, whose premise tells the story of the Battlestar Galactica and its military crew as they lead and defend the last human survivors of the Twelve Colonies following a devastating sneak attack by an android race of their own creation known as the Cylons, as they search for the fabled thirteenth colony known as Earth. The series stars Edward James Olmos as Commander/Admiral William Adama (the commanding officer of Battlestar Galactica), Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin, Katee Sackhoff as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, Jamie Bamber as Lee "Apollo" Adama (Admiral Adama's son), James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar, Tricia Hefler as Number Six, Grace Park as multiple versions of the Humanoid Cylon Number Eight, Michael Hogan as Saul Tigh (the executive officer of Battlestar Galactica), Aaron Douglas as Chief Galen Tyrol, Tahmoh Penikett as Karl "Helo" Agathon, Luciana Carro as Louanne "Kat" Katraine, as well as so many other amazing actors who play so many great and memorable characters throughout the series - including the character of Tom Zarek who is played by the late Richard Hatch, who was best known for playing the role of Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message
Alright, so this isn't our favorite episode of Battlestar Galactica, but we still have a good time dunking on it. We learn some stuff about Lee; we learn some stuff about commerce in space; Roslin makes a bad call. At least there's the silver lining appearance of our favorite rabble-rouser, Tom Zarek. Let's just pray to the gods that we get back to Starbuck doing dope shit next week. It's Bastille Day, so of course we're here to talk about Bastille Day! And yes, we did plan the entire launch of this podcast around this moment. This week we discuss the lights out performance of Richard Hatch as Tom Zarek, and his connection to the original BSG series. We also ask the really hard-hitting questions - where have all the Counts gone? Does Tigh ever run out of whiskey? Can you drink salt water? (No, please don't do that)
We're back with our top moments, characters, and episodes from the second half of Battlestar Galactica season four. What were the turning points? Who were the most important characters? Did both Tim and Todd manage to stay awake through the entire episode? All this and more. LINKS OF INTEREST:- Here's a list of all the season four episodes for reference- Here's the Smart Park commercial- Here's Casey Affleck's legendary Dunkin commercial from Saturday Night Live- And just in case you missed it, here's Laura Roslin going medieval on Tom Zarek ...AND ANOTHER THING:- TIM continues to (rightfully) gush about Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, especially the fourth episode, "Technology", which covers one of favorite things ever, The Volume.- TODD got himself hooked on French singer Cyrille Aimee this past week via the Sanborn Sessions. Cpt.

If you listen to this episode, you'll earn twenty-five Freedom Points from Captain Lee Adama himself. And we'll throw in another fifty of our own for good measure. Don't go spending them all in one parole hearing. Mike finds metaphors on Caprica and gets to celebrate a big win for his favorite character. Pat notes Billy's horrible romantic prowess and joins Tigh in taking issue with Starbuck's lack of professionalism. Matt asks why women can't be miners and attempts to nail down what Tom Zarek's deal actually is.

A veteran of almost five decades in the film & television industry, Richard Hatch starred alongside Karl Malden on the final season of The Streets of San Francisco, and has appeared on such seminal series as Dynasty, Murder, She Wrote, The Love Boat, MagGyver, and many more. He’s probably best known for starring as Captain Apollo on the 1970s sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, created by the late Glen A. Larson, as well as playing Tom Zarek on the show’s 2003 remake. Mr. Hatch joins me on Nostalgia Theater this week to talk about his nearly forty year association with the Battlestar brand, as well as his new project, the upcoming webseries Blade of Honor. Richard Hatch. To win a conflict like the Four Years War requires strong leadership, and on the Klingon side, that comes in the form of Supreme Commander Kharn. The old-school, TOS flavor that Kharn brings to Axanar, brilliantly delivered by Battlestar Galactica legend Richard Hatch, has Star Trek fans everywhere talking about how true-to-Trek Axanar is. In this episode of the official Axanar podcast, hosts Robert Meyer Burnett and Alec Peters are joined by Richard to talk about the role, why Richard was attracted to the project, and what he hopes to bring to the story. The discussion goes beyond Axanar itself into the realm of why people fight, the toll that conflict takes on leaders, and even why he loves the most recent incarnation of Star Trek. In our news segment, Alec and Rob also bring you an update on the Indiegogo campaign, the Blu-ray, and a recap of San Diego Comic-Con. NOTE: There is an audio glitch around the 46-minute mark. It has been left in the show so as not to lose what Richard is explaining. Just think of it as podcasting at warp speed.
