Christel and Richard are bringing in their Trekkie Bestie, Matt to see it all for his podcast debut! We're practically booking our shore leave in anticipation of the full Axanar film to come out. It promises to be epic… but it may turn out to be as epic as a Vulcan emotional breakdown... We're also chatting about the elusive Interlude to Axanar. Spoiler alert: it involves more dramatic standoffs than an intense game of space poker! And because we just can't contain our excitement, we're tossing in not one, but TWO unreleased episodes of Star Trek: New Voyages! Richard made some updates in editing to make them more watchable. He basically spun space rocks into gold pressed latinum! So grab your Earl Grey Tea, HOT and boldly go where no podcaster has gone before! The guys take the opportunity to review Prelude to Axanar, a Star Trek fan project detailing the Federation/Klingon War otherwise known as the Four Years War in the 2240's. In actual canon, Kirk and Spock were active in the war but it was noted that the enemy of the Battle for Axanar was not specified. #startrek #Federation #Klingons #scifi #Axanar

“Fight or Flight” 20th-anniversary reflections. In their first deep space encounter with an unfamiliar ship, the Enterprise crew makes a chilling discovery that tests their nerves and human instincts. The alien ship's crew has been slaughtered and strung up to the ceiling, attached to a device that collects fluids from their bodies. It's an especially unnerving finding for Hoshi Sato, who is already struggling with doubts about her ability to cope with the unknown and the risk that comes with life aboard a starship exploring deep space. In this episode of Warp Five, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 20th-anniversary retrospective that takes you through all of Star Trek: Enterprise, one episode at a time. In this installment, we discuss how “Fight or Flight” sets the stage for the series now that we've moved beyond the pilot and how the encounter with the Axanar exposes human naivety and highlights the challenge of adaptation. We also explore how human and Vulcan points of view are used to contrast reactions to the unknown and risk, as well as Archer's evolving view of how human morals will apply in space. This upload is a special moment in our show's history. It was thought to be a lost episode due to a snafu; we believed this interview with Prelude To Axanar director Christian Gossett to be gone forever. However, it resurfaced miraculously just a few days after the late great Johnny Lightfoot passed away. We would like to believe his force ghost-willed it back onto Steven Presley's hard drive?! Either way, it's was one of our favourite episodes. Christian Gossett directed the most successful Star Trek fan film in the history of the fandom. Unfortunately, It later led to an ugly lawsuit with Paramount that would forever change how fan films were produced. And unfortunately, due to a falling out, Christian Gossett later broke off from his partnership with co-creator Alec Peters, and that's been highly publicized. All of this and more is covered in this extensive interview.
At the recent 55 Year Mission convention in Las Vegas, Alec Peters was live streaming when Shawn O'Halloran's son approached his booth wearing a Duck mask. What happened next beggars belief… Our unbiased coverage of Axanar is available in a handy YouTube playlist. The post Hayden O'Halloran on The Duckman Incident In Vegas appeared first on Trekzone.

Michael Hinman welcomes back Axamonitor editor Carlos Pedraza this week to talk about the latest developments in the wold of the failed fan-film "Star Trek: Axanar." This time, the project's producer, Alec Peters, has filed a lawsuit against his one-time director, Robert Meyer Burnett, claiming he's owed more than $40,000, plus damages for defamation. What is this suit all about, and why does it seem both Michael and Carlos don't believe there isn't much holding this lawsuit together, at least not in Georgia.
In December 2015, Paramount and CBS sued the producers of a proposed fan-supported feature length movie called "Axanar" which was to be set in the Star Trek universe. Included in the issues at dispute was the question: who owns the Klingon language and can a language, albeit an invented one, be copyrighted?
In the first Edge of Forever Special, Dan and Mike discuss the ramifications of the CBS / Paramount v Axanar lawsuit. Specifically, the guys look at the new guidelines fan filmmakers must follow, as outlined by CBS / Paramount. Which rules do they find to be fair, and which do they believe demand too much? Please visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/edge.
In this episode, Elizabeth and Flourish talk to Sarah Jeong, a lawyer and journalist who is currently a contributing editor at VICE Motherboard, about Paramount and CBS's lawsuit against the Star Trek fan film "Axanar." They also cover the new fan film guidelines have been issued in the wake of the lawsuit, and return to the question of whether “affirmative,” “curatorial,” and “transformative” are good categories to use when discussing fandom.
