50 Shades of Grayson Azriel The third Dungeons & Dragons movie is steeped in sin as it partners a quartet of bloodthirsty bandits with a celibate knight on a quest to rescue his father from a kinky underworld. Is returning director Gerry Lively faithful to the letter of the 3rd edition game supplement The Book of Vile Darkness, which first let players fall under the spell of a black magic text printed in blood, skin, and bone? And why did SyFy Channel pass on this 2012 campaign, limiting its official release to the UK? Justin, Stuart, and Arnie are ready to suck fingers to find out how bad it gets.

Fresh off of finishing Stranger Things 4, Matt and Joe take a dive into each of the iconic monsters that graced the small screen. Matt is a certified Stranger Things super fan and Joe spends WAY too much time reading old D&D lore. Together, they'll demystify the history of this floral creature from the upside down through his roots as a baboon-headed demon prince, a formless symbol of popular resistance, and finally his origin in Platonic philosophy. Content Warning: This episode contains brief references to sexual assault, violence, racism, torture, starvation, child death, mental health, panic attacks and drug use. There is no detail to these mentions and no explicit language is used. Get your children out of the room, switch off Granny's hearing aid, and make sure that your boss can't hear what's on your headphones as we have some more risqué content for our 18th episode! That's not to say there isn't practical chat though, as Ailsa and George have a very long discussion on Consent In RPGs. How do you make sure everyone is comfortable at your table, whether it's obvious triggers or more subtle ones? We've got some personal experiences to share on this topic, as well as some ideas from the fantastic free PDF Consent in Gaming, which we highly recommend you grab. After that Ailsa is taking on a different role than usual as she hosts a Quiz in which George is asked questions on the Book of Vile Darkness, the third edition D&D book that went full grimdark leather-and-gore edgelord after the game had spent a decade playing it safe to keep angry mums at bay. Some of this adults-only D&D book ended up bleeding into mainline D&D books of the era, but other bits.... well, turns out 2002 was a different planet, you know? Why not play along and see if you can get the questions on arch-devils, posing pouches and Ed Sheeran correct. You can also expect to hear Tuppy read from a barely amended Video Standards Council Script, Twike get very excited about an Indiana Jones themed video, the Mailer Daemon get really angry about a potato peeler, the Inch-High Incel battle with insulation foam, and an advert for two ladies who you maaaaaaybe shouldn't look up on your work computer.Contact us by email on tildicepodcast@gmail.comWe can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram under @tildicepodcastOur theme music is Funny Adventures by WinnieTheMoogLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/6048-funny-adventuresLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Endlessless by Sascha Ende®Link: https://filmmusic.io/song/26-endlesslessLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOur logo is by Neil Slorance - check out his work on Twitter under @neilslorance or Facebook as "Art by Neil Slorance"Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/tildicepodcast)Support the Show.

This week on the Vintage RPG podcast we check out Book of Vile Darkness (2002), D&D 3E's super edgy overcorrection of the family friendly 90s era. It's kinda weird! You'd think after decades of criticism about how D&D was a tool of the devil, you wouldn't go and put out a book that A. is of limited utility to most games and B. makes the critics' case for them. It's still pretty cool, if you dig demons and devils, and can look past all the torture and stuff. * * * Hang out with us on the Vintage RPG Discord! In the last two weeks, The Wildcards (our level 12 DnD party) have been dealt a very bad hand... Our story begins after the party has just escaped from the horrors of the 88th layer of the Abyss, The Gaping Maw, but at a great cost. With their friends' lives held hostage, The Wildcards were forced by a cult of Asmodeus, The Revenant Vow, to retrieve an ancient evil artifact, the Blackstaff. Forced to rush, lest their friends be killed, the party plunged deep into the depths of a demonic temple before battling against the keeper of the Blackstaff, The Lich King, Kar'Val. During the battle, Niavere, a founding member of The Wildcards, was killed after saving the party's rogue, Hando (who secretly harboured feelings for her). Devastated at their loss, The Wildcards looted the necromancer's vault and took several treasures (the infamous Blackstaff, a Vile Crown that Kar'Val wore, a mysterious Gate Gem Apparatus, a Book of Vile Darkness that their warlock Gord secreted away, an Infernal puzzle box, a shadowy dagger Whisper, and a magic dispelling longsword Mage's Bane) but were unable to find The Lich King's soul reliquary. Out of time, The Wildcards exchanged the Blackstaff for the lives of their friends, only to uncover that one of those very hostages, their most powerful ally, the wizard Raymond Boralis, had betrayed them and joined forces with The Revenant Vow. Now wielding the evil staff, Raymond honoured the agreement of their deal and let them leave with their lives. Devastated, The Wildcards escaped the abyss (with the aid of a divine ally, Erathol) and found themselves back on the material plane. They'd been transported to The Platinum Sanctuary, a legendary hall of heroes thought lost to history for centuries. Our game picks off just after having laid Niavere to rest upon a funeral pyre at sunset. Now The Wildcards must regroup and decide their next course of action to protect the realm and defeat The Revenant Vow... The Wildcards party consists of: Alana "Brawly" Brawlin - Level 8 Fighter (Cavalier) / 4 Barbarian (Totem of Bear) Gord Dunsworth III - Level 12 Warlock (Vengeful Soul) Hando The Blue - Level 10 Rogue (Swashbuckler) / 2 Bard M'ari - Level 10 Fighter (Battle Master) / 2 Rogue Valentine Wilde - Level 10 Bard (Lore) / 2 Warlock (Hexblade) --- Follow Hexplorers on Twitter https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&v=DuJGdtoCzXk&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbmZNeVVtYkxCdFZhTlFLRjNiYzByYWlOSHNHUXxBQ3Jtc0trTWpVOFVLcEhxMzlSZ0VUNmFUWEtFc1pQV216T0s5MEkxZjFWbmhOSnR2cWg1RlF0RkdLU3VfeXNoV2ZSUFVFNXVaQ09VVU5SNG9kNnBkN09DcWhvUjMwN0luZGNnRnUzUlA2bXZuNjFSWHRrNWkyNA%3D%3D&q=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FHexplorersDND (https://twitter.com/HexplorersDND) Watch our campaign on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCThkKOiWuRZ0Qz0QYhXhSGA/ (https://www.youtube.com/HexplorersDnD)
