In a vein like their famous Encore History episodes, Amy and Morgan have each picked an alien-related topic, and learned SO MUCH about it. While Amy gives listeners a look into a few of the tv shows that involve aliens, and a look at the alien species, Morgan shares some information about actual alien sightings, UFO conspiracies, and crop circles. Today, we talk through that experience in detail and the beginning of her journey as a mother to her son. An initiation that she herself says was traumatic on many accounts but also a time of letting go, moving forward and becoming an even better version of herself than before. While Amy is pretty frank in discussing the emotional turbulence of this time for her, she’s somehow also gracious in acknowledging that the hardships of motherhood are real for all of us.You’ll hear in this episode that Amy truly is resilience personified and ultimately, that she is a shining example that a mother's love can and will transcend anything. She is a true heroine. She is wahine toa. This is her story of The Fourth Trimester. Thank you again to Noopii for sponsoring this week's episode. Welcome to the Evolution of Medicine podcast! In this episode, James sits down with Amy Mack, CEO of the Institute for Functional Medicine, to discuss IFM’s leadership in the functional medicine space and the pivots the organization has made in response to COVID-19. One of the biggest changes the organization faced was transitioning their Annual International Conference, considered one of the best and most well-attended educational conferences in functional medicine, to a virtual platform. While Amy acknowledges the challenges of building a virtual community, she is excited for all the 2020 conference has to offer, including perspectives on how we can build immune resilience within the fragile health of many populations. Highlights from this episode include: How IFM’s COVID-19 Task Force supports the functional medicine community and plans for its continued guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic How we can take ideas at the bedrock of functional medicine, like immune resilience, and bring them into the mainstream How IFM brought their Annual International Conference to the virtual space What attendees will learn at AIC this year, and new opportunities for engagement and networking virtually What IFM has planned for the future as the healthcare ecosystem continues to evolve And so much more! From 2009-2014 Amy with her business partner and father, Jeff, worked to help build one of the largest foreclosure purchasing companies in Los Angeles, California. In their final year, the company sold $77M work of real estate, employing over 50 people not including general and subcontractors, and would have up to 60 properties in active rehab at a time. They completed well over 1,000 rehabs in Los Angeles County. From 2015-2019 Amy and Jeff completed over 150 transactions in Colorado Springs. They established themselves as "high volume flippers" in the area, and built solid relationships in the community. Amy was approached many times by motivated people who attended EXPENSIVE real estate training and was asked, "How do I start?" Amy built "www.learnrealestatestepbystep.com" as an answer to that question. Tired of people blowing their life savings on someone else's motivational pitches, this system is designed to support the dreamers in building their dream. It is also designed to save the wishers from blowing their life savings. Real estate, like most businesses, takes hustle, dedication, hard-work, and direction. While Amy can provide the direction, the rest is up to the client. Some people are not cut out for this business, and shouldn't find that out after spending thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars in training.
Amy Wolfe is part owner of TrubilT Collision Center in Altoona and Eau Claire, WI along with her Father and Brother. Amy not only puts in a lot of time at work making sure that her business runs smoothly but also travels a lot for the business to events, leadership workshops, and expos. While Amy works hard at her job to make sure she is making her customers and employees happy she also has to balance her time and effort with her family. With her husband and two daughters a major priority in her life the sacrifice that she has to make between work and family can get taxing. There is a lot of mom guilt that comes from long hours and days on the road traveling. Amy has found some ways to help stay connected with her family when she is away but it is never the same reading your kids a story over skype rather than laying in bed cuddled up with them. Amy knows that this is her life right now and does all that she can to keep the balance. Amy talks about how life and work clash, the struggles that she has had and what she had to do to balance it out. We all have different lives and priorities but balance in no matter what you do is key. Amy Reed is Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Woofie's, LLC, Woofie's Mobile Pet Spa, LLC and Woofie's Pet Ventures, LLC, all based in Ashburn, Va. Woofie’s is a new franchise that is the first to offer the combined services of personalized pet sitting, dog walking and mobile pet spa. Prior to Woofie's, Amy Reed had over 10 years of experience in Marketing, Sales, and Sales Training with a successful track record in high-tech start-up companies and large carrier organizations. Key Takeaways: [0:18] Today’s episode of Franchise Euphoria is brought to you by IndyFranchiseLaw.com, a leading resource in the franchise space. Head over to IndyFranchiseLaw.com learn more! [0:59] Josh introduces today’s guest, Amy Reed, the co-founder and co-owner of the Woofies franchise. [2:27] Josh welcomes Amy to Franchise Euphoria. [2:59] Amy tells the story of how she got into this unique industry fifteen years ago. [5:16] Amy remembers that initially people couldn’t believe that she was leaving her six-figure salary job to “go walk dogs” but she explains that people just didn’t understand the need for this type of service like they do now since it was such an unsaturated market. [8:03] To kickstart their business, Amy and her partner started with really traditional marketing – putting an ad her local media and going door to door to pitch their business. [11:16] Amy reflects on the degree of trust that is necessary for hiring personnel for your business. She admits it was hard to release control in the beginning, but she realized it was a necessity to see the growth they wanted. [12:35] While Amy tells us she always had franchising in the back of her mind as an option for the business, they recognized the benefit of fine tuning their business before they took that step. [16:05] Reflecting over the last fifteen years, Amy details the changes in the industry that have come about due to developments in technologies and demand. [20:37] For Amy, the ideal Woofies franchisee is first and foremost somebody who loves animals. Beyond that, you need to have a business foundation, be able to multi-task, and know how to build a great team. [22:37] Woofies owner-operators will need to purchase a mobile grooming van, and while it isn’t required to have a local office, it is recommended. [25:05] If you want to learn more about the Woofies franchise, visit www.ownawoofies.com. First thing: Amy wants this podcast to be a place where nobody feels alone...and while she can’t relate to having a miscarriage...she knows a lot of women are going through loss such as this...so she was grateful that her friend Jill was willing to come on and share her story. Second thing: Have you heard of the “5 Second Rule”? Well, if you suffer from ADD or you’re scared to just go do something that you know is something you NEED to do...this is something you’ll want to hear about and implement into your life. Third thing: Want to get a tattoo??? Amy talks about her tattoos, where you should consider getting one if you want least amount of pain, and Amy’s 11-year-old daughter also chimes in with her opinion on tattoos. Fourth thing: Need running tips?? While Amy doesn’t run anymore...she once ran a marathon (26.2 miles!!!) so she does have experience with long distance and shares some tips on how to accomplish such a feat. However, she warns of how it messed with her life...i.e. her boyfriend at the time definitely broke up with her because of it. :) Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
While Amy tried to make this an all ska all the time episode, this is actually about those brassy, brassy horns (and totally includes saxophones but not flutes). Mitchell, as usual, brings all the knowledge and maybe, just maybe, has legit trumpet roots while not marching in marching band with all the cool kids in high school. Horns, horns, and more horns. Episode 49: 1978, The Ted Bundy episode! While Amy goes on and on about the handsome killer, Joe tells us about The Super Bowl of Wrestling, The Bee Gees, Charlie Chaplin's dead body being stolen and more!. Season 3, Episode 22: 1978 Part One!
While Amy considered herself a good-works kid, she found herself, as an adult, stuck in a pattern of making poor choices. In her words, "Sometimes even with the right heart, you can go in the wrong direction." Shame felt from these detours kept Amy from having confidence in herself and in her future. It would take a long, painful journey through infertility, a lot of personal brokenness, and an unexpected adoption to bring her to a place where she finally trusted God and believed He had a good and beautiful plan for her future.
There are few better ways of beating the heat in the middle of summer than by kicking back and taking in a brand-new blockbuster in the cool, dark surroundings of Dubai’s top cinemas. With the brand-new Jurassic Park movie out this summer, plus The Incredibles 2 and even more Marvel-mania with the arrival of Ant-Man and The Wasp all on the big screen this season, there are plenty of cinema deals out there, including one odeon offering up a “seven-star” experience. In this episode of Straight From The Camel’s mouth, Tim Skinner, Head of Video Content, Amy Mathieson, Deputy Editor and Scott Campbell, Digital Editor, go through the top cinema experiences in town, and talk about everything going on at Barasti’s new, dinosaur-themed summer tent. While Amy runs through some of the brilliant new bars and restaurants arriving in town, Scott gets himself tangled up in knots trying to get his head around the concept of Jurassic Park as a movie.
Oscar nominated documentary filmmaker and producer Amy Ziering has spent much of her career fighting injustice. Her film work includes the films Outrage, about the hypocrisy of closeted gay politicians; The Invisible War, about the epidemic of rape in the military; and The Hunting Ground examining the prevalence of sexual assault on university campuses. While Amy may not think of her own work as courageous, many would disagree, saying that she focuses on bringing to light important stories and giving a voice to survivors of abuse. In her conversation with ArtCenter President Lorne Buchman, Amy explores her career, the impact of making a film about philosopher Jacques Derrida, and the source of her strength and why she wants to be an agent of change.
