However, the delays have led to increased costs and a pushed-back timeline. With construction now targeted for late 2024, Rio2 must secure financing and remaining permits before major activities can begin.The Fenix Gold Project remains compelling, anchored by a 1.77M ounces of proven and probable gold mineral reserves grading 0.48 grams per tonne, and 4.8M ounces in the Measured and Indicated category. The planned open pit, run-of-mine heap leach operation expects to produce an average of 91,000 ounces during the initial 12 years, and a further 54,000 ounces in the final 5 years. But the company has its work cut out to regain lost time and value. The repeated delays in Chile caused Rio2's share price to decline over 80%, falling as low as C$0.12 before recovering to the C$0.30-0.40 range after approval was finally granted in late 2023. Financing partners are still engaged but a deteriorating mining finance environment means the cost of capital is substantially higher.With the project economics remaining positive but attempted timelines unrealistic, Rio2 chose to batten down the hatches and fight another day. Cost reductions and asset sales allowed the company to survive without requiring additional dilutive equity financings. Creditors came to agreements to ease strained liquidity. Now the focus shifts to methodical project advancement.Alex Black remains confident in ultimately delivering the vision for Fenix Gold, aiming to join SSR Mining's Marigold project and Kinross's Bald Mountain as the only large-scale run-of-mine heap leach producers. But gone are the days of easy money, with swarming investors throwing cash at half-baked gold projects. Note that these numbers include illiquid (pre-exit) valuations. Commentary Background: See this 80k article for the basic case behind considering entrepreneurship for earning to give reasons. These numbers seem fairly high, and may indicate that earning to give through entrepreneurship is a good path for those who have solid personal fit (with the usual caveats about only pursuing ethical startup careers; see also my analysis of YCombinator fraud rates). With a 20% annual discount the numbers are not that far off from what I've heard as higher-end estimates of the value of direct work, and I expect that there is a fairly strong correlation between being at the higher end of entrepreneurship returns and being at the higher end of direct work, so this doesn't seem like that strong of an argument for entrepreneurship over direct work. My impression is that these numbers are roughly similar to average quantitative finance income, so I'm not sure there's much of an argument for one over the other based on this data (from an income perspective). Note that the vast majority of founders who apply to YCombinator are rejected, and this is not considered in these estimates. Appendix A: Methods and Data Note: if you know Python, reading the Jupyter notebook might be easier than following this document. Methods Used this list of YCombinator top companies and tried to find public information about their most recent valuation. Importantly, note that this is including pre-exit valuations. For publicly traded companies, I used their market capitalization at the time of writing (rather than when they IPO'd). I used an estimate of 2.3 people per founding team and average equity ownership of 35% from the original 80 K article. These numbers could probably use an update. The discount was calculated using a straightforward geometric discount, i.e. receiving $N in Y years with discount rate d has a net present value of (1-d)^Y N. I assume that everything not on that list is valued at zero. This is obviously an underestimate; but I think it's not too far off: I estimate the value of the company at the bottom of the list (Karbon Card) at $60M If the 1,788 companies started after 2019 who are not in this list were all valued at $60M, this would increase the total valuation by $107B = 19.5% This is a very conse...

From 2009-2014 Amy with her business partner and father, Jeff, worked to help build one of the largest foreclosure purchasing companies in Los Angeles, California. In their final year, the company sold $77M work of real estate, employing over 50 people not including general and subcontractors, and would have up to 60 properties in active rehab at a time. They completed well over 1,000 rehabs in Los Angeles County. From 2015-2019 Amy and Jeff completed over 150 transactions in Colorado Springs. Stories: In addition to the USPS ACR, they also filed their Comprehensive Statement on Postal Operations: • USPS.COM generated just over $1B in revenue and saw 11% increase in traffic with 4M visits on a daily basis. o 1.7B visits to the site from 425M Unique Users • USPS Online Postal Store saw 4% growth, with $280M in revenue o Noted adding PayPal which generated $7.55M and saved the USPS $450K in merchant credit card fees. • USPS enhanced their Mobile Point of Sales devices. There are now 2,900 across the US generating 26M transactions o Generated $92M in revenue which is a 427% increase in sales and 284% increase in transactions • USPS Processed 37M change of address requests • Full Service adoption is at 90.43%, up from 88% the previous year. o Biggest increase was First Class flats, increased 5% to 77% o First Class letters/cards have the highest adoption rate of 93% • 65% of all drop ship containers were using eInduction (automated invoicing starts in March) • 18% of all commercial mail volume is being entered through Seamless Acceptances • The 4 USPS Customer Care Centers received 49M calls with 16M requesting additional assistance from an agent (52K per day) • To handle package growth, the USPS installed 25 new Small Parcel Sortation Systems • USPS deployed 276K Mobile Delivery Devices to 24,666 delivery units • Total number of USPS routes increased by 2,327 to 229,104 and added 1,142,352 delivery points • USPS invested $221.7M in it’s delivery fleet: o 3,339 RAM Promaster extended capacity vehicles, 2,446 Service Vehicles, and 1,688 Administrative vehicles • Highway transportation expenses increased 5% to $3.8B, noted in large part due to package growth. • Sunday delivery ZIP Codes increased 1,082 to 9,369, delivering 111M packages (compared to 77M) • 30.6M pieces of undeliverable mail and secure destruction mail was captured, destroyed and recycled (781 Metric Tons) • USPS has 206,686 customers participating in the Real Mail Notification Pilot (schedule to go nationwide in Spring of 2017) USPS Reported November Numbers: • USPS Overall plan was to lose $365M • USPS overall results was a positive $951M (as a result of a large positive workers comp adjustment • Controllable Net Income was a positive $266M • Total Mail Volume was up 2.5% SPLY and revenue was up 4.3% SPLY • Package Volume was up 15% SPLY and revenue was up 19% SPLY • USPS Work Hours were 3.1% above plan and 6.9% above SPLY • So 2 months in, the USPS is at $1.455B compared to a plan of negative $368M
