GUISE is the heart and soul of pop-folk singer-songwriter Jess Guise. Possessed of a remarkable folk lilt, she sings with delicacy whilst landing some vicious asides - by turns sweet, funny, and haunting. Whilst locked down with her husband, Frank Turner, Jess won the hearts of his large and welcoming fan base through their weekly livestreams raising funds for live venues, and a buzz rose up around her music in that world. Jess has been building on that buzz honing her live craft on the road, supporting and sharing stages with the likes of Richard Thompson, Frank Turner, Will Varley, The Arkells, Grace Petrie and Sean McGowan. After the success of their first EP The Fun Part in 2020, Guise (Jess along with long-term bandmates and collaborators Laura Hanna, Titas Halder and Keith Barry) released their first studio album Youngest Daughter on Xtra Mile Recordings at the end of April 2022. Reaching number 18 in the official UK Folk Chart and produced by Frank Turner, the album is a beautiful accumulation of GUISE's work so far and the summation of Jess' own personal journey to date. An ode to acknowledging past pain and carrying it with you to build better memories, Jess describes the record as an honest, personal, and self-deprecating wander through the various ways she's tried to follow her heart over the years.

British singer-songwriter Will Varley released his 5th studio album in 2018. Varley's songs seem to transcend themselves, marrying vivid imagery, politics, emotion and surrealism to capture his musings in a way that is quite remarkable.

Lisbon Live had the privilege of attending Glastonbury Festival in the UK, the largest greenfield festival in the world, and chatted to the following bands/artists: Will Varley - A folk singer-songwriter from the UK who has sold out shows all over Europe and has a penchant for crafting songs which combine personal storytelling with political statements. Dream Wife - Named after a 1953 romantic comedy, London trio Dream Wife make a cheeky, sugar-coated mixture of garage rock and roll, punk, and ambient pop with a strong message about gender equality. Frank Turner - Frank Turner is a singer and songwriter of 'folk-punk' songs drawing comparisons to Billy Bragg and Bruce Springsteen, however he nonetheless occupies a niche of his own in British popular music, and has developed a large international following. Beans on Toast - Beans On Toast (aka Jay MacCallister) is a British folk singer from Essex, UK, who rose to prominence out of the UK folk scene in 2005. He is well known for his self-deprecating and honest songwriting, which openly deals with variety of topics.
