Friends, welcome to another bonus track on Everybody Speaks Music and today we're going to follow up with the concept of performance anxiety and how it impacts our abilities to enjoy these moments where we share our music with others. I really believe that some of the tools and resources you'll hear today will help you not only with your music, but other areas of your life that you find discomfort, but perhaps you wish you did more of. So whether that's going to a concert, going to a new job interview, or playing with a bunch of friends at the park, the whole idea of facing these nerves that are holding us back from doing the things we love is such a universal topic. What you're about to hear are responses from four of the teachers that arise in school and music in various formats. There's a couple of phone recordings, there's a voice memo, and then I'll be reading some words from one of our other teachers. I really want to thank Andrew Balboa, Don Halberg, Jacob gold, and Paul Drummond for submitting these great responses.

Hey, friends welcome to another bonus track episode on Everybody Speaks Music and today's a special one, you're gonna get to hear my recent training session with Ean Kramer. Ean was on our show a few weeks ago and he graciously invited me to come to his dojo and train. Now as awesome as that sounds, it comes with a bunch of anticipation nerves, and I wanted to capture that part of the journey. So as soon as I hopped in the van, I hit record. And it was interesting to just process my thoughts. Normally, I'd be meditating, listening to some calm music, or doing something to take my mind off of it. So recording this episode was great because it leapt deep into my subconscious, all the warts and all the embarrassing moments are there for you to laugh about. And then we recorded the aftermath. What happened after my two hour training session, and I really hope you get a lot of value out of that. Because often I find as a musician, it's best to look outside of my craft to pick up new tips and tricks. So whether that's looking into athletics, or business, or any other domain, I can take those concepts and bring them back into how I approach my practicing, and how I approach my growth as a musician. And Ean does an amazing job of laying out the parallels between martial arts and music. He uses the analogy of the body as being the instrument. And I think you're gonna find a lot of interesting parallels there. And at the very end of the episode, I'm also going to attach a clip of Ean, where he did a follow up from the episode he wanted to dive even deeper into the parallels of music and martial arts. So I hope you enjoyed today's bonus episode. Thanks for listening. And don't forget to go out and and face your fears, do the things that you really want to do, even if they feel uncomfortable. We all feel that natural resistance to doing things that are new, and uncomfortable. But I can tell you from this experience with in how much pain intention of properly guided training session could actually remove from my body. Thanks again.

Today, starting with physicality, and solutions to pain management, and strength building for acoustic guitar players, let's face it, most of you have picked up an acoustic guitar at one time or another in your life, and it didn't feel very good. Hey friends, welcome to another bonus track on Everybody Speaks Music. And today what you're about to hear is my response to a young gentleman's music that was sent to me, for my opinion for my critique, for my suggestions. To be honest, I'm not sure what Kevin was hoping for when he sent me the music. But I do know that I thoroughly enjoyed it. And you'll hear that in my response to Kevin, I didn't plan on releasing this as a podcast episode. But right after sending it back to Kevin, I thought this is a great opportunity to reveal the behind the scenes of what happens a lot in my life. I've been there, I've been a young musician with new music and had no idea where to send it. And I think so many of you can relate to that whether you're a musician or an artist, perhaps you have a business idea. They just don't know who to start with. Maybe you've explained it, or shared it with someone really close to you. And they just didn't give you the response you were hoping for. So you feel a little winded, maybe you don't think your idea is worth putting out into the world. My thoughts are that you should protect these ideas from those that are closest to you, they might love you, they might support you, and they might want the best for you. But that might not always be reflected in their responses. So listen, how I instruct Kevin, to broadly engage his music out into the world, not to his peers, not to people that might be jaded at hearing that type of music, but to find a creative and unique route forward as an artist who wants their music heard.
