Alle Links in den Shownotes. >> Black Country, New Road – Forever Howlong (Ninja Tune) Wir müssen reden. >> The Completers – The Completers (Yeah You!) Brasilianischer Post-Punk. >> Great Grandpa – Patience, Moonbeam (Run For Cover Records) Vom Schredder-Post-Rock zum schluffigen Country-Emo. In honour of my new EP, Breeze FM, I thought I'd put together 60 mins of some of the dance music that inspired the making of the record. The mix is equal parts deep house, italo, balearic -- all with a light and breezy touch. There's some relatively new music in there, and a couple classics too. It's as easy to dance to, as it is to put on while you're making dinner. I had an absolute blast putting this together, and I hope you love what you hear! Stay Breezy! The brand new Breeze FM EP is out now on SlothBoogie Recordings - https://pacificcoliseum.bandcamp.com/album/breeze-fm-ep @pacific-coliseum

Team Canada has qualified again for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Special guest Crina Mustafa of Homestand, The Programme, and The Slice joins us this week to break down Canada's 3-2 win over Belgium from the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. We discuss Leylah Fernandez's importance, Bianca Andreescu joining the team despite her injury, and Heidi El Tabakh's leadership. Meantime, Andrey Rublev won the first Masters 1000 of his career from Monte Carlo, Daniil Medvedev and Sascha Zverev engaged in a war of words, and Novak Djokovic exited early. Denis Shapovalov begins his campaign from Barcelona, while the WTA heads to Stuttgart. All of that and more on this week's episode of Match Point Canada!
In this episode — a most welcome surprise addition to the schedule — we review the recently-surfaced recording of Led Zeppelin's long-sought-after August 19, 1971 concert at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia. This was the opening night of their 1971 North American Tour. It contains one of just four complete versions of "Gallows Pole" on record, a fairly rare cover of Eddie Cochran's "Weekend," and is arguably Robert Plant's last show with his true peak vocals...Support the showInstagram & TikTok — @rocktalk.dr.cropperTwitter — @RockTalkDrCroppFacebook, LinkedIn & YouTube — Rock Talk with Dr. CropperEmail — rocktalk.dr.cropper@gmail.com

Do you remember how old you were? Or where you were when the inspiration to play music first appeared? Who or what inspired that moment? For me, it was Beatlemania. When I was around the age of eight or nine, my cousin Gord took me to a concert at the Pacific Coliseum. It was called Beatlemania. I didn't even know what a tribute band was. I thought I was actually watching the Beatles. All I know is when I got home from that concert, I knew I wanted to be a professional musician. It wasn't till a few years later, when I heard Metallica ...And Justice for All that I truly took the plunge. Today's episode is all about emulation.https://horizonschoolofmusic.ca/ http://www.krisschulz.ca/ https://mojokemp.hearnow.com/

This week in anguish: - We've made our first foray down the I-5, and what have we learned? Ray Ferraro is working for the enemy, Tod Leiweke understands us better than anyone from CSE has in years, and Tristan mounts a spirited defence of arenas with windows. - Seriously, all the best arenas have windows. From the venerable swoops of the Yale Whale, to SC Bern's transparent Postfinance Arena, it's cool to have windows. If you're still feeling to claustrophobic, Valascia literally doesn't have you covered, but the real jewel of the genre has to be HC Davos' Vaillant Arena, pretty indoors and out. - While we're on the subject, let's take a moment to geek out about Norway's mountain-hewn Gjøvik Olympic Cavern Hall, and take vicarious pride in the Utica Aud's inclusion on some random list. All roads, of course, lead back to the Pacific Coliseum. - Captain Bo and Conor the Patriotic Garland earn eternal gratitude for ensuring that we'll never really have to hear about this game again. -Ardella trades in her foolscap for the drafting table, bringing calligraphy to bear on the question of just when (or whether) the Canucks (or the League) became so downright porous. Between her PBS-quality narration and colour-coded, annotated data visualizations, we honestly defy you not to glean something of value or interest from this research. - Shout-outs to ThePinkPuck.com, John Shorthouse walks us through the layers of one-way protection, and umpteen How Did We Not Know Thats pursuant to sunny expansion teams of yore. Thanks for listening! This episode supports the Hockey4Youth foundation and HerosHockey.

Grammy-winning Jazz crooner Michael Bublé teams up with LaChina Robinson to unpack his devotion to the Vancouver Canucks. From suiting up with hockey heavyweights to rescheduling concerts to catch games, Bublé leaves it all on the ice.
Join Brady Leavold on episode number 11 of Hockey 2 Hell And Back on Wednesday at 4:15pm EST. Leavold welcomes his long time friend, former teammate and child hood line mate Ned Lukacevic. This has all the makings for the funniest and most in depth look into Brady's up bringing. Ned was without question the best player in the Port Coquitlam area. Brady often credits Ned as being the best athlete he has ever met all around as well as one the most naturally skilled hockey players he ever has the pleasure playing with. Lukacevic and Leavold grew up together. Playing minor hockey together every second year for 3 years. Lukacevic was the first from "PoCo" to make it to the WHL. He even recorded his first WHL in his first WHL game at only 15 years old. Making history in front of all of his family and teammates at the Pacific Coliseum. Lukacevic not only inspired Leavold but several others from PoCo to elevate their own games and chase after their own dreams. Leavold and Lukacevic reconnected when he was traded to the Swift Current Broncos in 2005-2006 before Leavold quit the team due to mental health issues. Ned and Brady were extremely close off the ice too and got into some trouble including fire works in the dressing room, problems with the hotel sauna at a Peewee tournament among many others. Not to mention the Leavold family microwave story, but we will save that for the show!! Tune in Live! www.hockey2heroin.com www.pucksupport.com @hockey2heroin @hockey2hell @pucksupport @pucksupportwarriors

Show notes: edmprod.com/116 This week, Jamison aka Teen Daze jumped on the podcast. Known for his ambient and soothing approach to electronic music, Teen Daze has been making music for over a decade. We dive into his background and how he made a lot of music by just having fun with the process, and how that helped him reach a higher standard of music over time. During this process, he also talks about things he wishes he did, like set a plan in order for what he wants to achieve. Later we get more technical and talk about his studio setup, including a few of his favourite synths and plugins that he uses, like the Korg M1. We dive into how you can use existing sounds in new contexts to inspire creativity and inform your own sound as an artist. He ends the podcast by talking about some upcoming projects for film and book, as well as new music as Teen Daze and his dance-oriented side project, Pacific Coliseum. Canadian vibe master Pacific Coliseum has recently released his breezy new LP 'Blue Universe' via the ever wonderful Coastal Haze label. Fans of the oceanic wanderer will no doubt be all over this as it picks up where the last LP left off really, in search of sun blushed clouds, breaking waves & city walks. His last LP 'Ocean City' was also a firm favourite here at SB so we're thrilled to have him take us on board this ride into his musical cosmos. House, Disco, Ambient, New Age, Synth Pop. Legendary broadcaster Tom Larscheid says 1994 was a magical time in Vancouver with the Canucks run to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Tom says if there's one moment that he had to pick from that run, it would be Game 6 at the Pacific Coliseum & after that win, he really believed the Canucks were going to win the Cup.
This week on the show that bombed out in the quarter-finals, sportswriter STEVE EWEN (PostMedia, The Province) stops by to wrap up the World Junior tournament that took over Vancouver to start the new year, and all that talk of junior talent leads to a discussion on the Vancouver Giants, and why you’re unlikely to see hockey ever return full-time to the Pacific Coliseum. PLUS: Lacrosse’s return to downtown! The rise of Vancouver’s basketball culture! And how the Canucks are failing Elias Pettersson. The Canucks' kids are sticking with the big club! Get ready for all those Hansen and Higgins trade proposals on twitter! Full bench on the podcast this week as we record from the Pacific Coliseum. We're talking about Jared McCann and Jake Virtanen earning their way on to the Canucks roster and talking about the Canucks' recent road games and struggles in Dallas, including the Nickelback troll job by the Stars' DJ. They're also talking about ongoing problems in Brooklyn with obstructed seating and how the Coyotes could return their old arena in Phoenix, which was the king of bad sight lines! They also are talking about a slightly injured Carey Price, what can be done to salvage the Anaheim Ducks' 2015/16 season and having a lot of fun chatting about selfish Jamie Benn's habits with the opposite sex. Enjoy!
This week's podcast starts off with a quick look at Pat Quinn narrated by Jim Robson. Ryan, Geeta & Dave are live on tape at the Pacific Coliseum this week. This is the extended version of Pucks on net TV. They discuss the 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame class, Ryan Kesler's return to Vancouver and the chorus of boo's that greeted him. They look at the problems in Toronto and the snowed in Buffalo Sabres. Jack Johnson's financial troubles and Fun episode this week that is also airing on Shaw TV Vancouver and available on Youtube. Enjoy!
The long time voice of the Vancouver Canucks, Jim Robson and Vancouver Canucks and Giants public address announcer John Ashbridge join the podcast this week. They sit down with Geeta, Sheila, Dave and Ryan to talk all about hockey in Vancouver over the years. From the old Western Hockey League Vancouver Canucks, to the failed expansion draft bid in 1967 and the protests that followed from Vancouver hockey fans, Jim Robson tells it all without missing a beat. Stories of streakers at the Pacific Coliseum during Hockey Night in Canada to Andre The Giant at the Penthouse looking to beat up Jim, the first half of this interview is fantastic! Jim also talks about a memorable night when the Philadelphia Flyers hopped the glass at the Coliseum and took on some fans, as well as talks about the troubles they faced calling the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals from deep inside the balcony in Madison Square Garden surrounded by New York fans in blue shirts! Part 2 of the interview comes next week! Enjoy!
Live on tape from the Pacific Coliseum, the band is back together! Sheila, Dave and Ryan reform the three man podcast booth for the first time in over a month and shoot the breeze about hockey on the eve of the Olympic Break in the NHL. The show starts off with a ringing endorsement from Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Giants public address announcer John Ashbridge commemorating the twentieth episode of Pucks on net. Topics covered this week include: The Olympic opening ceremonies, Marty St. Louis and Zedeno Chara’s tall man problems he’s currently facing in Sochi. We talk about the upcoming men’s hockey tournament and what we’re looking forward to in the next few weeks. We touch on the Canucks’ troubles, Cory Perry and Ryan Getzlaf’s facetiming Dustin Penner and hockey equipment etiquette all while surrounded by a herd of beer league hockey players that had taken over the Coliseum hours before the Vancouver Giants. Vs, Edmonton Oil Kings game that evening. Fun and loose episode this week! Enjoy!
The gang is once again recording live from the Pacific Coliseum during a huge hockey weekend in Vancouver. Dave, Sheila and Ryan sit down and chat about what's happening this week in the world of hockey and are joined by a very special guest. One of the Vancouver Canucks 2013 1st round draft picks (24th) Hunter Shinkaruk chats with Ryan to start the show as he caught him outside the Medicine Hat Tigers dressing room before his big game against the Giants Friday night. Hunter talks about the pressure and expectations playing in Vancouver that is in store for him. We also chat about Trevor Linden and dentistry. The gang chats about the continuously struggling Edmonton Oilers, new brass in Buffalo and if Steven Stamkos is joining Team Canada this February at Sochi. Ryan gives his first installment of 'LIVE From the heartland' in which he gives a quick run down of all the things happening with the team nobody cares about, the St. Louis Blues. Later in the show, we have our first 'Mystery Box' segment in which everyone came to the show with a secret topic to talk about. Dave talks about Jim Balsillie ruining Blackberry AND almost ruining Canada's chances of a new NHL team. Ryan discusses the WHA restart in 2004 during the NHL lockout that fell absolutely flat and Sheila was unable to think about a topic, but discusses her ongoing love and appreciation for Big 44 Todd Bertuzzi. All this and more on this week's Pucks on net! Enjoy everybody
Once again, the gang is recording live on location from the Pacific Coliseum. Geeta, Dave and Ryan are discussing one of our nation’s biggest tragedies, Team Canada’s performance at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games. Before we discuss Marc Crawford’s terrible shootout decisions, we chat about what’s happening in the NHL these days, the Carolina Hurricanes and their ‘Second Chances’ Program, what’s wrong in Philadelphia and Edmonton. Ilya Bryzgalav is set to be an Oiler and we discuss why this decision is absolutely horrible. The gang also discusses which goalies are hall of fame bound, and agree Tim Thomas is not, despite having the 5th best selling jersey in the NHL these days. Ryan shares an embarrassing coming of age tale about trading a Joe Sakic rookie card for a pencil box full of Sarah Michelle Gellar photos. Then comes the Nagano Olympics. We break down the wrong decisions Bobby Clark made building that team. Starting from the coaching down. He wound up building a slow lumbering team of role players, and took the spotlight off Wayne Gretzky and pointed it towards big #88 Eric Lindros. Definitely a fun episode this week! Enjoy everybody
Dave and Ryan are live on tape on location from the Pacific Coliseum in scenic East Van. Home to the WHL's Vancouver Giants and the old home of the Vancouver Canucks, we set up shop like a lemonade stand in the stands and chat with whoever comes by. John Ashbridge, Giants and Canucks’ PA announcer joins us first. He chats with us about the Pavel Bure's #10 being retired, his friendship with Gino Odjick and the unusual way Boston Bruins' power forward Milan Lucic joined the Vancouver Giants'. Later, we're joined by Vancouver Giants d-man and Calgary Flames prospect Brett Kulak. He sits down for a loose conversation about wearing #69 on Don Hay's hockey team, the NHL draft combine and what his first taste of pro hockey was like, last season playing a handful of games with the AHL's Abbotsford Heat. Finally, hip-hop artist and friend of the show Dan, aka Cuddle Puppy, joined us. We chat about high school hockey in Yellowknife, his hop influences and of course, Mike Modano! Cuddle Puppy performed the Giants rap song heard through out the podcast. One of the biggest shows we've ever produced and easily the most fun. Enjoy everybody!
