#death #chaplain #endoflife Rev Earl Hodges has been a hospice chaplain and bereavement counselor with Canon hospice, for 15 years. He's also pastor of Olive Branch Ministries of Greater New Orleans, an interdenominational ministry which is located in Kenner. He's a native of Alabama but has lived in the New Orleans area for 50 years. He graduated from the University of Montevallo (located in Alabama) with a B.A. degree (major in history and minor in sociology), and from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary ( Master of Divinity degree). I've ministered in various churches in the New Orleans area, including Baptist, Lutheran and Disciples of Christ Rev. Earl states: "Ministering as a hospice chaplain has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. I never planned to do this but God in his providence directed my life in this direction. As a hospice chaplain you are often the last person to pray with a person before they pass. I've held hands and been praying with people as they pass. That has had a great impact on my life. I've also conducted more than 100 funerals for hospice patients who didn't have a pastor. I've also performed marriage ceremonies for hospice patients and marriage renewals for hospice patients. Dr Robert J Jeanfreau is the founder of MedPharmics a New Orleans area clinical investigational site. They recently trained local medics on how to properly administer COVID-19 tests. Dr. Jeanfreau and his wife, Andrea Jeanfreau, collaborate with the local New Orleans hospital, East Jefferson General Hospital, to collect blood samples to support a clinical trial addressing more extreme COVID-19 cases involving severe high-risk cases. During this pandemic, they are amongst the heroes and the research scientists who are working tirelessly around the clock in search of a vaccine or a cure. Research is incredibly important at this point. Who is MedPharmics? Established in 2012 in Metairie, Louisiana, MedPharmics was initially a standalone clinical investigational site. The founders, a husband and wife team of Robert Jeanfreau and Andrea Jeanfreau, RN, have been able to expand the firm to Gulfport, MS, Phoenix, AZ and Albuquerque, NM. Who can donate plasma for COVID-19? In order to donate plasma, a person must meet several criteria. They have to have tested positive for COVID-19, recovered, have no symptoms for 14 days, currently test negative for COVID-19, and have high enough antibody levels in their plasma. A donor and patient must also have compatible blood types. Once plasma is donated, it is screened for other infectious diseases, such as HIV. Each donor produces enough plasma to treat one to three patients. #Donating #plasma should not weaken the donor's #immune system nor make the #donor more susceptible to getting reinfected with the #virus. The research site is involved in a number of #clinical trials but its most critical is COVID-19. #clinical #research which is fundamentally important to discover and develop a vaccine and possible treatments. #VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR COVID 19 VACCINE CLINICAL RESEARCH Interested volunteers can connect with Robert Jeanfreau and Andrea Jeanfreau at MedPharmics https://medpharmics.com/current-studies/ (504) 605-9223 Learn more about the Akula Foundation: https://www.facebook.com/ https://akulafoundation.com/ (Check out the podcast) https://open.spotify.com/show/26ZZKTrm3hQhvHXjfIj5me --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lisa-c-phillips/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lisa-c-phillips/support
