Send me a text – I always love hearing from you! ✨Welcome to Season #4 of Life Out Loud! After a brief hiatus (#life, am I right!?), I'm back and thrilled to reconnect with you – my wonderful listeners. This season marks a significant shift in our journey together as we explore the prayers and scriptures that have shaped not just history, but continue to transform lives today.Scripture often gets dismissed as outdated or confusing, but nothing could be further from truth. The Bible holds living power that cuts straight to the heart of our modern challenges. As Hebrews 4:12 tells us, "For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword." While previous seasons used biblical references as supporting content, I'm now making Scripture the central focus because knowing it is truly life-changing.In this episode, we explore Jesus's profound question from John 5: "Do you want to get well?" This seemingly simple query reveals a deeper truth—not everyone truly wants healing because wellness demands work, changed patterns, and renewed hope. When Jesus looks at us and asks if we want to get well, everything hinges on our answer. Are you ready to soak up the healing waters of scripture? Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, these ancient words hold transformative power for your life today.Join me as we dive into prayers that have shaped the world. In this episode of Untidy, Matilda and Hannah chat to Petra Bagust, a legend of New Zealand TV, radio and podcasting, and an advocate for living her neurodiverse life out loud. If you grew up in 90s Aotearoa, you’ll know the nostalgia of Ice TV, where Petra cut her teeth creating the culturally iconic show. 30 years on, Petra is one of New Zealand’s most beloved broadcasters, presenters, a media chaplain, and the voice behind two successful podcasts, the award-winning ‘Grey Areas’ and the soulful ‘Sunday Sanctuary’. In this conversation, Petra takes us behind the scenes of her career as she balanced work, family, and motherhood, and discusses her personal journey with ADHD. She talks about her adult diagnosis, how her son’s journey began her own, and what it’s meant to reframe parts of herself she now understands from a wider perspective. From grief to self-compassion, masking to unmasking, and the collision of ADHD with her ‘second spring’ of perimenopause, Petra brings her signature authenticity, spirit, and mana to a kōrero so many will find relatable. In this episode, I sat down for a very heartfelt chat with Harris about their experiences with overcoming trauma and the work they do to help others find a path to healing. Harris Eddie Hill (they/them) is an out-and-proud nonbinary podcaster, best-selling author, coach, and founder of the Centre for Childhood Trauma Healing; a platform dedicated to supporting neurodivergent adults to overcome their childhood trauma and begin to thrive. Shortlisted for the Positive Impact and Sustainability Speaker of the Year at the Speaker Awards, Harris is passionate about demystifying healing and helping people to connect to their own ability to heal. Clients take back their power from a medical system that doesn't always offer tangible solutions and doesn't always educate clients on their ability to heal. Harris has survived and overcome trauma, unaccepting family members, cancer, abusive relationships, physical paralysis, and mental health challenges, yet they have found their way to emotional freedom and are now passing that power forward. Do you believe in reincarnation? Cue the Indigo Girls... "And now you had to bring up reincarnation over a coupla beers the other night..." You know, we're not sure. We've both been exposed to numerous stories that make reincarnation feel very real. To help us ponder the above question, we welcome our guest Corbie Mitlied who really brings to life (pun intended) the idea of reincarnation as an intuitive counselor. She has made her own path, rather than take the one cut out for her by others. The path wasn't easy and consists of t two marriages, which didn't last, a constant search for the "Partner Who Understood", a succession of jobs, and a series of spiritual paths. Then, out of the blue, she got breast cancer...THREE times. Life became a roller coaster with no brakes, asking Corbie to survive divorce, abuse, poverty and life-threatening illness. But through all of this, she learned the value of the "Examined Life", in which she ask herself...what does this mean and what am I meant to learn from this? In today's episode, Corbie teaches us the three important questions to examine our lives and explore our purpose here on this earth. What are we meant to do and learn? How can we meet challenges and always ask the next question and face each new situation with strength, courage and humor. Corbie sees it as her job as an intuitive counselor, inspirational speaker, author, breast cancer survivor to give her clients the tools and courage to deal with any situation. She believes that everything else is free will. So, today Corbie reminds us that we can do what she does! What will YOU do? We want you to follow us in our FB group and leave us a review so we can continue to connect like minded women in midlife together because no one should have to navigate this crazy shit show alone! lol In this episode, Corbie teaches us: Find Karma is 5 things: healing, service, contrast, unbalanced energy and healing of beliefs. The more we know ourselves and our strengths, the more we'll keep when we pass over into our next life. Live the examined life by asking ourselves: what can I learn from this and how can I teach with it ...then consider what is the next thing! Embrace YOU! There's more to go in life and we are more than just a part of our story that took place in our history. Who are you now? You are more than just the contest winner, the divorce, the car accident, the cancer survivor, the miscarriage, Find your sentence of passion...It's not the JOB. Your sentence of passion is the thing that, when you roll up to the pearly gates, hair on fire and fumes in the tank you can say, "I did this!" It's the moments where you were living in your bliss. Ask yourself the 3 most important questions in the world: What am I ____ about? (fill in the blank with your feeling or emotion...angry, sad, confused, frustrated, etc.) Why am I _____ about that? What would happen if I stopped being ____ about that? You can find Corbie at: Website | corbiemitleid.com YouTube Facebook | firethroughspirit Patreon | corbiemitleid Instagram | @corbie_mitleid Medium: https://corbiemitleid.medium.com Do YOU believe in reincarnation? We're back! This season of Life Out Loud is all about family and LZ begins by talking about his own—messy parts and all—with his son, LZed. They get real about painful moments in their relationship and how they have healed from them. LZ talks about the sacrifices he made to be a provider after his divorce, and LZed shares how some of those choices led him to feel abandoned. LZed also shares what it was like growing up with a queer dad, and LZ discusses what home means to him. It's an honest conversation with a lot of heart. Family is where love abides. Sometimes you're born into a loving family. Sometimes you grow into one. And if you're really lucky, you have both. Consider this season to be a showcase for the various ways families come together and how love shows up. We're grateful to have you in our family. All our love. Learn more about your ad choices. Until last month, Brian Flores was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, and one of only three Black head coaches among the NFL's 32 teams. That number has since dropped to one. On Tuesday, Flores announced he was suing the NFL, alleging that the league's hiring practices are racist. His suit comes almost 20 years after the creation of the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for senior positions, and eight years after Colin Kaepernick was black-balled from the sport for kneeling during the national anthem—begging the question of how much has really changed in that time. This week as we ease out of summer, we are replaying some of our favorite episodes from the last year. This episode originally aired February 7, 2022. It's a bittersweet ending to Season 2 of Life Out Loud. As we publish this episode, we are saddened by legislation around the country that tries to erase the LGBTQ+ community and the historic gains we've made in our fight to equality. But our community is more than our trauma. We are more than the attacks on our very existence. We are love! We are beauty! We are joy! We end Season 2 acknowledging the work ahead while also celebrating our resilient spirit. In this episode, LZ takes you to a dance party with Grammy-winning DJ Tracy Young. She's funky, she's soulful and she knows how to turn a night on the dance floor into an experience. Thank you for listening and for being in community with us – we see you and we love you.

To celebrate LZ's 50th birthday, we're exploring why it's a privilege to get to be an "Old Gay". Really! Our community is still mourning a generation of elders lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and in an era of homophobic and transphobic legislature, many of our young people still struggle to envision the fabulous futures they deserve. In this birthday episode of Life Out Loud, LZ talks to iconic TikTok foursome, the Old Gays. With more than 6.3 million followers, Robert Reeves, Mick Peterson, Bill Lyons and Jessay Martin have figured out how to bridge the generational divide and connect young LGBTQ+ folks to their history. Then, LZ has a fascinating conversation with Jesus Ramirez-Valles, director of the Health Equity Institute at San Francisco State University, about the unique challenges Gaby Boomers face and why we should create stronger social safety nets that let all people age in place.
