If you've ever wondered whether financial independence is realistic for you or how to start moving toward it (even slowly), this episode is for you. We're talking index funds, cash cushions, mindset shifts, and how to build resilience when you're inundated with questionable financial advice. A Gluten Free Podcast Episode 179In today's episode, I'm taking a moment to reflect on our incredible conversation last week with Iron Ramen — a gluten free Japanese restaurant built from the ground up after their son's coeliac diagnosis. We'll explore the powerful idea of doing one thing and doing it really well, and how that can lead to incredible growth — not just in business, but in life. I'll also talk about how Iron Ramen's journey reminds me of the concept of Ikigai, a Japanese philosophy about finding your reason for being, something I first came across in a book that had a big impact on me.Finding inspiration and motivation can feel tough sometimes in our gluten free lives, especially when coeliac disease can make things harder. But stories like Iron Ramen's — and the conversation I'm about to have next week with a podcast listener — show that if you don't let your diagnosis hold you back, you can find your purpose and live a great gluten free life.I'll also share a personal update on how I believe I'm finding my own Ikigai through this podcast, our community, and everything we're building at A Gluten Free Family. And, excitingly, for the first time, I'll introduce something I've wanted to do for a long time: sharing a listener's story. Next week, you'll hear from someone who has gained a lot from this podcast, and I'll sit down with them to hear their gluten free journey and how this community has impacted their life.In This Episode:A recap of our last episode with Iron Ramen: doing one thing, doing it well, and growing from thereHow a son's coeliac diagnosis inspired a thriving gluten free businessAn introduction to Ikigai: what it means and how it applies to living well with coeliac diseaseHow Iron Ramen found their Ikigai — and how it's inspiring others in the gluten-free communityMy personal journey with finding Ikigai through A Gluten Free Family and this podcastHow we can all find motivation and purpose after a coeliac diagnosisA look ahead: a special interview with a listener who found support and encouragement through this podcastHow finding your gluten free Ikigai can then help others in a similar situation to you Next week's guest: previewing our chat with Stephen about pushing through challenges and not letting anything stop youWhat is Ikigai? Ikigai (生き甲斐) is a Japanese concept meaning “a reason for being.” It's the sweet spot where what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for all come together. It's about living with purpose, passion, and balance — even in the small, everyday moments.Resources Mentioned:Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Héctor García and Francesc MirallesIron Ramen (link to website/socials)Connect with A Gluten Free Family:Instagram: @aglutenfreefamilyFacebook: A Gluten Free Podcast Facebook GroupWebsite: www.aglutenfreefamily.comDisclaimerThe content on this podcast is not a substitution for professional medical advice. This episode of the Abundant Life podcast delves into the profound journey of Cody Bentley, a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) who has transitioned to a born-again Christian. The discussion, guided by hosts Saso and Ben, emphasizes the contrast between the doctrines of Mormonism and traditional Christianity, particularly focusing on the notion of grace. Cody recounts his upbringing within the LDS faith, highlighting a performance-based relationship with God that left him feeling spiritually malnourished. He shares his struggles with addiction and the burdens of guilt that permeated his life as he sought fulfillment through works rather than faith. The podcast explores the pivotal moment when Cody discovered the freedom and assurance found in a relationship with Jesus Christ, which allowed him to break free from the cycles of shame and guilt that had characterized his previous religious experience. Through heartfelt dialogue, the hosts and Cody reflect on the transformative power of grace and the importance of a genuine connection with Jesus, contrasting it with the institutional emphasis found in the LDS Church. The episode presents a candid exploration of Cody's spiritual metamorphosis, detailing how he transitioned from a life steeped in the doctrines of Mormonism to embracing the teachings of Christianity. Central to this transformation is the realization that salvation is not contingent upon human efforts but is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Cody articulates the stark differences in his understanding of God, moving from a performance-driven faith to one marked by unconditional love and acceptance. The discussion touches on the challenges faced by those leaving the LDS Church, where adherence to doctrines can lead to a fear of losing community and identity. Cody's journey serves as a beacon of hope for others who may find themselves questioning their faith and seeking a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with God. The hosts encourage listeners to reflect on their own beliefs and consider the liberating message of the Gospel, which offers assurance and peace through faith alone.Takeaways: The journey from Mormonism to Christianity encompasses profound spiritual transformations and a discovery of grace that is no found in any other religion. Key differences exist between the concepts of salvation in Mormonism and traditional Christianity, particularly regarding grace and works. Post-Mormon life often entails navigating relationships with family and friends who remain within the LDS faith, presenting unique challenges. Experiencing a genuine relationship with Jesus can lead to significant personal growth and healing, as evidenced by Cody's transformation. The importance of scripture, particularly the Bible, is emphasized as a source of truth and assurance for believers transitioning from Mormonism. Understanding the differences in the definitions of familiar terms in both faiths is crucial for meaningful dialogue and connection. When you listen to Bible teaching, what do you lean toward? Do you like stuff that makes you feel good and comfortable? Or would you rather be kicked in the rear and told to get your act together? Today, Pastor Bill explains why being a regular part of a local church is so important. Your pastor is responsible before God to teach you the Whole Counsel of God. Sometimes God's Word will comfort you, and at other times convict you. But it should always be The Word, not the pastor, who motivates you.
“What is Truth?” That's the question Pontius Pilate asked Jesus. And that's the question that's still being asked over and over today. Is “Science” the only source of truth? Can we arrive at truth through psychology or sociology? Today, Pastor Bill reminds us that God's Word is THE source of truth. Not just truth about how to live successfully, but also about how to know God, and how to live in the Way He designed for you. The more you read and study His Word, the more Truth you will know!
Everybody today seems to have their own version of the truth. Which political party has the better way to run the country? How do you define and categorize people? What's important in life and what's not? And, is there any news station that's not spinning the news? Today, Pastor Bill emphasizes that you can't depend on any human source for “real” truth. Because you'll self-select what you already want to hear. Only the Word of God can give you accurate, credible, reliable, timeless Truth.

Do you believe it's possible to live a problem-free life? Most books I have read about living problem-free focus on convincing yourself that you don't have problems. While that might work for some people, I have found three things that work much better for me and for my clients. In this episode, I share the 3 Simple Secrets that lead to a problem-free life! I will also show you how to begin practicing these 3 things right away and say good-bye to problems! Ps- Ready to be problem-free? Let's talk! Click here to schedule a Miracle Meeting with me Key Learnings: We are so conditioned to focus on problems that even when good things begin to happen, we look for the problems. Begin by first recognizing that you now have ‘happy problems' which means that your life is shifting. Then ask “Is this even a problem?” The next thing to do is let go of needing to have problems to solve to feel validated, or to increase your self-esteem. If you NEED problems to solve, you will keep having problems to solve. You can still help people, and even solve problems, without needing to. Instead of focusing on problems, focus on what you truly want and desire. In Lester Levenson's book, Happiness is Free, he says that as soon as you focus on solving a problem, you give it energy. Focus on the outcome you desire. “Focusing on problems brings more problems. Focus on what you desire.” Click here to schedule a Miracle Meeting with me Click here to join the Magnify Your Miracles Membership If you love the image on the wall behind me of Mother Mary Blessing the World, you can order your own museum quality copy at www.deepaliu.com

It took Carl 89 episodes but he finally found a former doctor who has created an amazing second act. Not just any doctor, "Doc G" has a super popular podcast (Earn & Invest) and is a best-selling author. His story is a dramatic one. After 15 years of being an internal medicine doc he found himself totally burnt out and had some sort of breakdown. He found his passion and voice in becoming a podcast star, talking about investing and giving people life advice on how to find true happiness and purpose. He shares some of the best (un)retirement advice we've ever learned on the show gleaned from his new book "The Purpose Code".
