Middle of the map is with Mr. Brandon Fick, Brandon has been blessed with the title of candy master at the ever popular Candy Factory. Brandon has his degree in horticulture and greenhouse management from Iowa State. After becoming bored with corn genetics postcollege Brandon took a dive into candy making. Before this podcast, Brandon took Fletch and I on a tour of the totally badass candy lab where it all goes down! Brandon is a long-time childhood friend of mine and we’ve recently reconnected and I’m so happy to have this dude back in my life! Middle of the Map is back and in a new location downtown Columbia, MO. Since moving, Fletch and I started a real estate group together and joined forces with eXp Realty. Our first guest in the new studio is Columbia Board of Realtors sitting president Mr. Chris Martin! I’ve grown up with Chris as a friend since middle school and cant say enough good things about this dude. Him, along with numerous others in our leadership, have been working diligently to keep agents and the public safe while navigating through business in these unprecedented times. He’s a true professional and we really enjoyed having him on. From being managed by Fletch at Campus Bar in college to becoming his president in real estate, we welcome Mr Chris Martin!

After moving to Columbia in 2009, Russell started a home improvement business obtaining work through Craigslist and any other way he could. Before that he tried college, dabbled in motorhome construction and welding jobs. Emmett has made a living working with his hands since he was 19. From the chair you sit in at your favorite coffee shop to the statuesque grandfather clock in Joe Rogans studio, you can bet it’s Russellbilt.
Nickie Davis is the Executive Director at The District- Downtown Columbia, Missouri. She also works behind the scenes at True/False Film Festival each year. We chat about upcoming events in The District and she brings us our passports for restaurant week coming up Jan 20th. Nickie was born and raised right here in Columbia, MO. We are with Dr. Jerry Thornhill as he explains the principle behind hemodialysis, bringing a dialyzer into the studio. Dr. Thornhill has devoted his career to the study and practice of veterinary nephrology. He was the first to successfully complete hemodialysis on a companion animal in the mid western United States. Hundreds of thousands of similar life-saving dialysis treatments occur in the US every year. He’s a Mizzou alumn, former professor at Purdue and the driving force behind the nephrology department at Veterinary Specialty Center near Chicago, IL. Jerry loves to read biographies of US presidents and has a collection of almost 500 volumes in his, at home, presidents library. Chris Cottle works for the Alzheimer’s Association as the Walk Manager for the Columbia, Macon and Kirksville walks. After his father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s, Chris quickly became involved volunteering for the organization “Walk To End Alzheimer’s”. The walk here in Columbia Mo is coming up October 20th at Cosmo Park. You can find more information at ALZ.org. Gina Singleton is an Accounting Professor at Columbia College here in Columbia, Mo. She is a former senior auditor at KPMG and the stunning wife of our host Tyler Singleton. In this episode she has just returned home from Nepal after 3 weeks of volunteer work. She was placed by the organization Accounting For International Development, benefiting their partner organization, Sakcham Rural Nepal. It was a solo adventure, but she got to stay with an awesome host family and spent some time at a youth hostel in Kathmandu.
