A quiet milestone hits hard: for the first time in 84 years, no Pearl Harbor survivor could attend the ceremony. That absence becomes a mirror, and we ask the hard question—what will history say about our generation when our voices fade? We weave that reflection through Scripture, prayer, and lived examples to trace a path of courage rooted not in noise but in fidelity. We start with the heart of the home—marriage—drawing from Hebrews 13:4 to make a clear, hopeful case for honoring vows and resisting the pull to normalize what wounds trust. Mercy is real, and so is accountability. From there, Revelation 20 reframes our moment: evil deceives, but only for a time; books are opened; names matter; and resurrection hope changes how we carry responsibility. Psalm 148 widens the frame to a universe of praise, reminding us that obedience is harmony with a creation that already sings. Proverbs 31:8–9 then turns praise into practice, calling us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to seek justice for the crushed. We ground these themes in story. A brief Medal of Honor spotlight on Robert Earl Bonney pulls courage out of the boiler room and into the light, showing that heroism often hides behind steel and steam. And we revisit President Harry Truman's 1950 Christmas messages—words forged in wartime—that tie peace on earth to moral clarity and public duty. Throughout, we bless the workers who keep communities alive—farmers, ranchers, linemen, doctors, builders—because service is how love becomes law in daily life.If you're ready for a clear-eyed, hopeful call to remember well, love well, and stand firm with grace, press play and join us. Start with honesty: none of us has a spotless record, and pretending we do only delays the obedience God asks of us today. We dig into the parable of the two sons to show why repentance is measured by action, not memory, and we highlight Rahab's story as a powerful reminder that God writes redemption into the lives of imperfect people who choose faithfulness now. From there, we turn to Titus 2 and get practical about the virtues that steady a home and strengthen a community. Temperance, dignity, sensible speech, and the work of teaching what is good give our faith credibility. Revelation 19 then lifts our eyes, reminding us that the wedding feast of the Lamb and the triumph of the Rider called Faithful and True are not abstract theology but the anchor for perseverance and hope when the world feels hostile and disordered. We round out the conversation with Psalm 147's comfort for the brokenhearted, Proverbs 31's sober counsel to leaders, and a Medal of Honor spotlight on Sylvester Bonnafon Jr. History speaks, too: we read FDR's Pearl Harbor address and Harry Truman's 1949 Christmas message, drawing lessons about courage, clarity, peace, and service. Through Scripture and history, we argue for a life that names evil, loves neighbors, and trusts God for victory. A hard word can also be a healing one: we dig into why “Christless conservatism” cannot carry a nation's moral weight, and why political victories feel empty when the soul goes unattended. Starting with a frank look at ambivalence among believers, we trace how lukewarm faith leaks into families, schools, churches, and public life. God is love and also justice; mercy and also judgment—and ignoring either side bends us toward confusion. That tension sets the stage for a deeper call to repentance and renewed courage. We ground the conversation in Scripture. Genesis invites husbands and wives to become one flesh, a covenant that shapes character and community far beyond the home. Revelation 16 confronts us with hardened hearts that curse rather than turn back, a mirror for our own moment when distraction replaces devotion. Along the way, we honor Staff Sergeant James L. Bondsteel, whose ordinary appearance hid extraordinary courage under fire. His story becomes a template: move toward the fight that saves others, carry what must be carried, and keep rallying people when fear closes in.We also draw strength from President Harry S. Truman's Christmas message, which links the Golden Rule to the American experiment. A free people must be a self-governed people, and love of neighbor is not a private sentiment but a public necessity. When we ask for order without grace, we get noise without peace. The path forward is steady and specific—tell the truth in love, rebuild marriages, practice repentance, honor courage, and keep watch with hope. Egypt purchased state of the art weaponry from the Soviet Union that obliterated any balance of power between Israel and her Arab adversaries. Egypt would have the armament, it already had the desire, to wipe out Israel. Israel naturally turned to its trusted ally, the United States, but the days of Harry Truman were over. The new President, Dwight Eisenhower, together with his State Department which has traditionally been slanted against Israel, saw wisdom in aligning with the far more numerous Arabs. Israel desperately needed a friend that manufactured weapons, and that ally turned out to be France. France's primary motivation was the principle that the enemy of your enemy is your friend. FLN freedom fighters in Algeria were seeking freedom from France and they were armed and trained by Egypt. When Nasser nationalizes the Suez Canal and expels western managers, Britain and France know that they must act and their unlikely partner is Israel.
Harry S. Truman grew up in a poor family in the Midwestern United States. By age twelve, he had read the Bible twice, not knowing that one day he would help fulfil ancient prophecy. On 14 May 1948, eleven minutes after David Ben Gurion read the declaration of the State of Israel, Truman recognised the new nation despite opposition from allies and political authorities. He later referred to himself as “Cyrus,” echoing the role of the ancient Persian king God used to restore His people.1. God has a purpose for you even before you were bornIsaiah 45:1-4 speaks of King Cyrus, whose name is mentioned 150 years before his birth: “This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of… For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honour.”God had a plan for Cyrus far beyond his own understanding, faith, or awareness. Similarly, God forms each person with a purpose before birth (Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5). Circumstances, background, or perceived limitations do not change God's plan. Even those who seem unimportant or overlooked have a destiny that is part of a larger divine story.2. God has a specific purpose to bring deliverance and blessing through youIsaiah 45:1 says: “To Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of… I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord.”Cyrus was called to subdue nations, open doors, and rebuild God's city. This principle continues today: people are called to be agents of deliverance and blessing. Communities, cities, and families can experience freedom through God's work in people's lives. Jesus came to bring freedom to captives (Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 4:18-19). Individuals are raised up to be a blessing, bringing light into dark places, hope to the broken, and healing where there is pain.3. God has a purpose that will be fulfilledIsaiah 44:28 and 45:1 show that Cyrus would become king and rebuild Jerusalem. Ezra 1:1-4 records God moving Cyrus' heart to fulfil His prophecy:“The Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm… to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.”God's promises may take years, even decades, to unfold. Abraham waited 25 years for God's promise that he would have a son to be fulfilled. Paul faced shipwrecks and trials before reaching Rome (Acts 27:23-24). Yet God fulfils every purpose and promise He makes. The Jewish people returned to their homeland despite centuries of exile. The Church continues to grow despite persecution (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:17).APPLICATIONYou have a purpose: God created you intentionally with a plan (Psalm 139:16; Jeremiah 1:5).You are called to bless and deliver: Communities, families, and nations experience God's goodness through His people (Isaiah 45:1; Matthew 5:14).God will fulfil His plans: No obstacle is too great. Every God-given promise, prophecy, and calling will come to pass (Isaiah 41:10; Acts 2:17).God's Spirit brings cleansing, revival, fulfilment and fruitfulness (Titus 3:5-6; Galatians 5:22-23; John 7:37-39). He has prepared a greater future for you, your family, this church and this nation than you can imagine and He is ready to pour life into every dry place.

Truman Takes Command: Unconditional Surrender and the Brutality of Final Battles Professor Gary Bass Harry Truman assumed the presidency unprepared for the war in Asia or foreign policy. He inherited the demand for unconditional surrender. The immense casualties at Okinawa terrified him about a ground invasion. Before the atomic bombs, US firebombing killed 210,000 Japanese, leading to warnings to Truman about "outdoing Hitler's atrocities." The Potsdam Declaration demanded "Stern justice" for war criminals.

President Donald Trump's privately funded plan to build a 90,000-square-foot ballroom has Democrats like Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren fuming about “luxury” while they've shut down the government. Presidents have remodeled the White House for over a century—from Harry Truman's gut renovation to Barack Obama's basketball court—yet only Trump gets scorn. Victor Davis Hanson breaks down the hypocrisy on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “Do we really want to know what belittles the White House? I mean, we're just coming off the Biden administration, where cocaine was found in a carrel in the West Wing. … Do you remember when Barack Obama was president? He brought in a whole cadre of Muslim Brotherhood people that were tied to Hamas Islamic terrorism. He brought an entourage, in 2012, into the White House. I remember, 2016, he thought it would be neat to have his favorite rappers in the White House. Kendrick Lamar—“Pimp a Butterfly.” Remember those lyrics about killing the police in the White House? That rapper—‘kill po-po,' as he said. “We could go on with the embarrassing incidents. I won't mention what transpired between Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton right off the Oval Office in the presidential laboratory. But nonetheless, the ballroom was needed.

What do presidents really know about UFOs, consciousness, and the deeper architecture of reality? This episode of the Presidential Podcast explores the strange and often contradictory relationship between political power and metaphysical truth. From Truman to Trump, we trace how each administration has approached the phenomenon—sometimes with curiosity, sometimes with silence, and sometimes with a quiet sense of awe.The public has long speculated about what goes on behind closed doors in the Oval Office. Are presidents briefed on crash retrievals? Do they know about non-human entities? Are they told the truth—or just enough to keep them quiet? The answers, as we'll explore, are layered, elusive, and often more philosophical than technological. We begin with Harry Truman, who was president during the Roswell incident in 1947. While the official explanation dismissed the crash as a weather balloon, internal memos and military movements suggest something far more significant. Truman's administration oversaw the birth of MJ-12, the rumored secret group tasked with managing recovered craft and non-human technology. Whether MJ-12 was real or mythologized, its presence in the historical record points to a deep compartmentalization of knowledge—one that may have excluded even the Commander-in-Chief.Eisenhower, with his military background, was reportedly briefed on recovered materials and entities. Some insiders claim he even visited a base to see them firsthand. His farewell address warning of the “military-industrial complex” may have been more than political—it may have been personal.John F. Kennedy pushed for transparency, especially around space and intelligence. But his assassination cut short any deeper inquiry. Jimmy Carter famously reported a UFO sighting and promised disclosure during his campaign. Once in office, however, he was reportedly told that the truth was “too complex” to release. His disappointment was palpable.Bill Clinton took a more active approach. He sent aides to investigate Area 51 and Roswell. His response? “I tried. There's a government inside the government, and I don't control it.” This statement, often dismissed as hyperbole, may reflect a deeper reality: that the phenomenon operates outside traditional political structures.Barack Obama was asked repeatedly about UFOs. His answers were playful, evasive. “I can't tell you,” he joked. “They'd have to kill me.” But behind the humor was a pattern: presidents were aware, but not empowered. They were briefed, but not invited into the deeper rooms.Donald Trump broke the mold. He spoke about UFOs, supported the creation of Space Force, and oversaw the release of Pentagon videos confirming UAPs. But even he admitted: “I've heard some interesting things. I'll tell you one day. Maybe.” Why the silence? Why the deflection? The answer may lie in the nature of the phenomenon itself.Jim Semivan, a former CIA official involved in recent disclosure efforts, described the truth as “indigestible.” He worried about how to explain to children that there's a force that can control the environment, insert thoughts, deceive, and that we're not in control. The fear isn't about technology—it's about existential collapse.James Lakatsky, who ran AAWSAP for the Defense Intelligence Agency, concluded that UAPs are a technology that integrates physical and psychic phenomena—and that they manipulate psychological parameters in the witness. This isn't just about flying objects. It's about reality itself. So where does this leave the presidents? They may be briefed. They may be curious. But the final answer may not be political—it may be personal. It may come through experiencers, researchers, and those willing to question the nature of reality.#PresidentialPodcast #UFOs #Consciousness #Disclosure #DeepDive
In the aftermath of the tragic Kada Scott murder, the D.A. has said the buck stops with him. Or was he actually passing it?

I can't believe its not bigger news that your federal government is currently operating with a surplus. Wait, what? It's true. In September with tariffs and more, the treasury took in $198 billion dollars more than it spent. Imagine what October will be like with a government shutdown. Meanwhile, Kansas City, Mo is $100 million short on it's budget but has approved $22 million for a temporary jail to house 100 criminals during the World Cup. You can't make this up. KCI's terminal gets ta new name. My buddy Cato has a nifty idea to taunt the No Kings rally folks this weekend. People keep asking me, ‘Lance, what's next?' Well, let me tell you what God's been showing me. Cyrus rulers are rising again. Just like Harry Truman in 1948, we've got leaders being raised up right now—whether you like them or not—to fulfill God's plan for nations. And here's the kicker: it's not about building kingdoms for them—it's about building God's house! The Church has been hiding out too long, waiting for the rapture while the gates of hell have taken over every mountain of influence. No more! We've got a window of opportunity to reclaim those gates, and if you're tuned in, you're part of it. “What do Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump all have in common?” They've all shaken hands with Congressman Roger Williams—and each handshake comes with a story you won't forget. In this captivating episode of Kent Hance, The Best Storyteller in Texas, Kent sits down with longtime friend and Texas Congressman Roger Williams, a man whose life reads like a history book with a Texas twist. From shaking hands with 14 U.S. Presidents to meeting with legends like Ted Williams, and golfing with President Gerald Ford, Roger shares personal anecdotes that span decades of American history and politics. Listeners will hear: The surreal moment Roger shook JFK's hand just two hours before his assassination. A hilarious encounter with Jimmy Carter—shirtless and mid-run. The story behind gifting Ronald Reagan a jackalope. His candid thoughts on college athlete compensation and Congress's role in the evolving sports landscape. Memorable campaign moments, including a voter more concerned about “them hogs” than taxes. His time as Texas Secretary of State, selling the Lone Star State to businesses nationwide. With Kent's signature storytelling style and Roger's down-to-earth charm, this episode is packed with humor, history, and heartfelt reflections. Whether you're a political junkie, sports fan, or proud Texan, this episode delivers something for everyone. “You've got to smile, call people by name, and talk in terms of their interests. That's how you win.” — Congressman Roger Williams
The relationship between the United States and Israel has long been the subject of intense scrutiny, very often distorted by polemic and conspiracy. One of the most influential articulations of these distortions came in 2007, when the political scientists John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt argued that American foreign policy had been hijacked by a powerful Israel lobby—an argument that, despite its weaknesses, has shaped how many Americans view relations between these two nations. My guest today, the historian and policy scholar Daniel Samet, has written a new book that aims to set the record straight. Drawing on archival research and much evidence, Samet demonstrates that U.S. policy toward Israel during the cold war was not the product of special pleading and manipulation, but of America's own strategic interests. By examining presidencies from Harry Truman through George H.W. Bush, he shows how American leaders, whatever their personal sympathies, consistently acted to advance U.S. national priorities—and how Israel sometimes fit into that strategy, and sometimes did not. In this episode of the Tikvah Podcast, Samet joins the host and editor of Mosaic Jonathan Silver to discuss how Israel was perceived in Washington during America's long struggle with the Soviet Union, what lessons that history holds for America's rivalry with China today, and why misconceptions about the “Israel lobby” persist in our political discourse. Daniel Samet is a Jean Kirkpatrick Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he works on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. His book, U.S. Defense Policy Toward Israel, was published earlier this year.
Come along with me on a walking tour of Independence, Missouri! We'll explore the historic Temple Lot Church (Hedrickites) and look at rare photographs from the Great Depression, when attempts were made to build the Jackson County Temple on the very cornerstones Joseph Smith laid in 1831. We'll also stop by the Stone Church, the oldest church in Missouri, built by Joseph Smith III, and visit the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As we walk, we'll trace the same steps once taken by Harry Truman, stopping at the United Nations Peace Plaza and the Auditorium he frequented after returning home from the presidency. Our journey will also take us to the Cutlerite Church and Temple. It's a unique chance to experience history, faith, and legacy all in one walk—you won't want to miss it! https://youtu.be/E-z1dRBPzqw Don't miss our other Tangent Trips! https://gospeltangents.com/mormon_history/gt-trips/ Copyright © 2025 Gospel Tangents All Rights Reserved From Zion to Truman Join us on an extended walking tour through Independence, Missouri, a city rich with pivotal moments in both the Restoration movement and American political history. From the foundational sites of early Mormonism to the stomping grounds of President Harry S. Truman, Independence offers a unique blend of historical insights. The Sacred Ground: Temple Lot Our journey begins at the Temple Lot, a site dedicated by the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith and other Mormon leaders on August 3, 1831. This area was envisioned as the center of Zion, a grand temple complex. Today, it's surrounded by several significant structures, including the Community of Christ Auditorium and Temple, the LDS Stake Center, and LDS Visitor Center. The Temple Lot Church, sometimes known as the Hedrick-ites, stands prominently. This site has seen its share of trials; the first and second churches built here were both tragically destroyed by fire. A particularly heartbreaking incident in 1990 saw a former member reportedly burn down a church with the misguided belief that it would expedite the rebuilding of the temple. Plans for a larger temple with groundbreaking and footings were halted by the Great Depression, leaving a famous foundation hole. Interestingly, artifacts like stones, found by Otto Fetting, are on display, hinting at the never-realized Greek-style design. The envisioned temple's footprint was surprisingly small, especially compared to later temples like Nauvoo or Salt Lake. Inside the Temple Lot Visitor Center, you can see photographs of early leaders and even a display of the Book of Commandments, a precursor to the Doctrine and Covenants, which is apparently being phased out of print and may be de-canonized. Architectural and Spiritual Diversity: Other Churches of Independence Just a short distance away, we visit the Stone Church, which stands as the oldest church in Missouri built by Joseph Smith III. Its interior, with its large pipe organ, impressive stained-glass windows, and wooden pillars, might remind visitors of the Salt Lake Tabernacle, albeit on a smaller scale. The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has its headquarters in the former Chrisman High School, a building that also operates a lunch program for the homeless. A particularly unique stop is the Cutlerite Church, established by Alpheus Cutler in 1853. This small denomination, with fewer than a dozen members (most over 70), maintains a distinctive practice: they are one of the few churches outside the LDS Church and some polygamous groups that practice baptisms for the dead and endowments. Their building serves a dual purpose, with a chapel on the first floor and a "temple area" on the second, where sacred" temple work is conducted. Early Mormon Footprints and Conflicts Independence also holds the memory of early Mormon settlers and the tensions they faced. We visit the site of Edward Partridge's home and the relocated Jones Flournoy Home,...

Part 1 of 3. God's Hand on America: Divine Providence in the Modern Era by Michael Medved– November 26, 2019 Purchase this fine book at your favorite book seller or at- https://www.amazon.com/Gods-Hand-America-Divine-Providence/dp/0451497414 The national radio host and bestselling author of The American Miracle reveals the happy accidents, bizarre coincidences, and flat-out miracles that continue to shape America's destiny. “A hopeful message for our troubled times . . . Michael Medved has an eye for a story, and a preternatural gift for telling it in beguiling ways.”—Joseph J. Ellis, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award–winning author of Founding Brothers Has God withdrawn his special blessing from the United States? Americans ponder that painful question in troubled times, as we did during the devastation of the Civil War and after the assassinations of the '60s, and as we do in our present polarization. Yet somehow—on battlefields, across western wilderness, and in raucous convention halls—astounding events have reliably advanced America, restoring faith in the Republic's providential protection. In this provocative historical narrative, Michael Medved brings to life ten haunting tales that reveal this purposeful pattern, including: • A near-fatal carriage accident forces Lincoln's secretary of state into a canvas-and-steel neck brace that protects him from a would-be assassin's knife thrusts, allowing him two years later to acquire Alaska for the United States. • A sudden tidal wave of Russian Jewish immigration, beginning in 1881, coincides with America's rise to world leadership, fulfilling a biblical promise that those blessing Abraham's children will themselves be blessed. • Campaigning for president, Theodore Roosevelt takes a bullet in the chest, but a folded speech in his jacket pocket slows its progress and saves his life. • At the Battle of Midway, U.S. planes get lost over empty ocean and then miraculously reconnect for five minutes of dive-bombing that wrecks Japan's fleet, convincing even enemy commanders that higher powers intervened against them. • A behind-the-scenes “conspiracy of the pure of heart” by Democratic leaders forces a gravely ill FDR to replace his sitting vice president—an unstable Stalinist—with future White House great Harry Truman. These and other little-known stories build on themes of The American Miracle, Medved's bestseller about America's remarkable rise. The confident heroes and stubborn misfits in these pages shared a common faith in a master plan, which continues to unfold in our time. God's Hand on America confirms that the founders were right about America's destiny to lead and enlighten the world.

WAR ENDINGS NEITHER SWIFT NOR MERCIFUL: 2/8 Road to Surrender: Three Men and the Countdown to the End of World War II by Evan Thomas (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Road-Surrender-Three-Countdown-World/dp/0399589252 1940 At 9:20 a.m. on the morning of May 30, General Groves receives a message to report to the office of the secretary of war “at once.” Stimson is waiting for him. He wants to know: has Groves selected the targets yet? So begins this suspenseful, impeccably researched history that draws on new access to diaries to tell the story of three men who were intimately involved with America's decision to drop the atomic bomb—and Japan's decision to surrender. They are Henry Stimson, the American Secretary of War, who had overall responsibility for decisions about the atom bomb; Gen. Carl “Tooey” Spaatz, head of strategic bombing in the Pacific, who supervised the planes that dropped the bombs; and Japanese Foreign Minister Shigenori Togo, the only one in Emperor Hirohito's Supreme War Council who believed even before the bombs were dropped that Japan should surrender. Henry Stimson had served in the administrations of five presidents, but as the U.S. nuclear program progressed, he found himself tasked with the unimaginable decision of determining whether to deploy the bomb. The new president, Harry S. Truman, thus far a peripheral figure in the momentous decision, accepted Stimson's recommendation to drop the bomb. Army Air Force Commander Gen. Spaatz ordered the planes to take off. Like Stimson, Spaatz agonized over the command even as he recognized it would end the war. After the bombs were dropped, Foreign Minister Togo was finally able to convince the emperor to surrender. To bring these critical events to vivid life, bestselling author Evan Thomas draws on the diaries of Stimson, Togo and Spaatz, contemplating the immense weight of their historic decision. In Road to Surrender, an immersive, surprising, moving account, Thomas lays out the behind-the-scenes thoughts, feelings, motivations, and decision-making of three people who changed history.

This week on the Mark Levin Show, Democrats and the media are at it again, supporting violent riots, arson, and attacks on law enforcement in California, while labeling President Trump as authoritarian. A coalition of illegal aliens, Islamists, and Marxists are burning American flags, engaging in violence, and demanding to stay in America while causing this chaos. No, Mark did not lobby President Trump on Iran policy, despite what the fake news is saying. The President knows Mark's stance on Iran, which aligns with Trump and MAGA – prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Outlets like Politico are spreading false narratives and propaganda, particularly from isolationists and Iranian sympathizers. Mark is not leading a lobbying campaign of "GOP hawks." Iran, and isolationist ideologies are major threats. DNI Tulsi Gabbard's stance on nuclear war and her revisionism about the U.S. defeating Imperial Japan under Harry Truman are grotesque. Gabbard, the Quincy Institute, and people like Chatsworth Qatarlson (Tucker Carlson) are emboldening Iran's regime by signaling American weakness. Sen Alex Padilla barging into a Kristi Noem press conference shows a pattern of violent, lawless behavior by Democrats. Democrats reflect their violent base and their violent base represents Democrats. Padilla could have coordinated with Noem instead of causing this show. The Democrat Party is a Marxist party that represents Islamists, antisemites, Stalinists, and criminals. They've given up on the American citizens. Learn more about your ad choices.
