Send us a textThe New York Giants' offseason plans might be shifting in a surprising direction. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are starting to look elsewhere with their No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With growing speculation that they have their sights set on an elite non-QB prospect. Meanwhile, ESPN has floated the idea of the Giants trading down from No. 3. A proposed trade with the Carolina Panthers would send the No. 3 pick and a 2026 fifth-rounder to Carolina in exchange for the No. 8 pick, a second-round pick this year (No. 57), and a 2026 second-round pick. This trade scenario becomes even more interesting if Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are already off the board by the time the Giants pick, suggesting the team may prioritize adding multiple assets instead of taking a quarterback early. In roster news, the Giants have re-signed linebacker Ty Summers. At 6'1" and 241 pounds, the 29-year-old played in all 16 games last season, recording 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflection. His PFF grades were mixed, with a strong 78.3 run defense grade but weaker marks in coverage and pass rushing. Summers played 112 defensive snaps and was a key contributor on special teams with 272 snaps. Evan Neal's future along the Giants' offensive line remains uncertain, but GM Joe Schoen revealed that Neal is now open to the idea of moving to guard. This is a stark contrast from his strong stance in 2023 when he insisted he was an offensive tackle from birth. While Schoen did not commit to a positional switch, he emphasized that Neal is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Another looming decision for the Giants revolves around play-calling duties. Head coach Brian Daboll has not yet determined whether he will continue calling plays in 2024. NY Post's Paul Schwartz reported that Daboll plans to evaluate the situation through spring and summer before making a final call. Co-owner John Mara previously questioned whether Daboll should relinquish play-calling duties, stating that while he wouldn't demand a change, it's a discussion that will continue. Ultimately, the choice remains in Daboll's hands, and it could have a major impact on the Giants' offensive performance next season. The Giants also have several former players currently competing in the UFL, which kicked off its season on Friday. The Arlington Renegades feature former Giants S Joe Powell and LB Tuzar Skipper. The Birmingham Stallions have multiple ex-Giants, including LB Tae Crowder and QB Case Cookus, while the D.C. Defenders boast former first-round CB Deandre Baker. Other familiar faces like Corn Elder, Deon Jackson, Quincy Roche, and Jashaun Corbin are also in the league, along with former Giants coaches like Mike Nolan and Marc Colombo. With the NFL Draft approaching, trade rumors swirling, and key roster decisions still to be made, the Giants are entering a pivotal stretch. Will they surprise everyone by passing on a quarterback at No. 3? Will Evan Neal shift to guard? And will Brian Daboll hold onto play-calling duties? For over 40 years now, the alleged apparitions of Mary in Medjugorje (Bosnia and Herzegovina) have been polarizing topic for many Catholics. For some, the apparitions of Mary and the messages are hailed as an extraordinary visitation of grace for our time, with an overabundance of fruits to prove it; while others dismiss the Medjugorje phenomenon as a hoax and a hotbed of division. In this episode, Fr. Michael and Fr. Chris are joined by Mike Nolan for a conversation about Medjugorje: its history and spirituality, the approval process, some misunderstandings surrounding it, and positive fruits that pilgrimage there has born in their personal lives. While the events at Medjugorje are not yet officially approved by the Church, they are inarguably significant, and all listeners can benefit from learning more about them. They could benefit as well from the commentary on Mary's role in our lives, the spirituality of pilgrimage, the ecclesiastical approval process, and more! Fresh produce travels an average of about 1,500 miles from farm to your dinner table. It's one of the reasons that many consumers prefer to buy local, believing the food they're buying and eating is truly fresh with the added benefit of supporting a local farmer or community member. Those are two of the principles behind Community Supported Agriculture or CSA businesses, arrangements and plans that can be a win-win for both consumer and farmer. To explain more about CSAs on The Spark Thursday were Mike Nolan, owner Earth Spring Farm in Carlisle and Bethany Hinkle, CSA Manager at Spiral Path Farm CSA in Loysville, Perry County, who explained the concept of a CSA,"We see it as a relationship between the community and the farm that provides mutual support and commitment. Since the members (who join the CSA) met at the beginning of the season to be customers for the season, and then we as the farmers commit to the community to do all of the work of the seeding, the planting, the growing, harvesting and delivering those." Hinkle described how their CSA works,"We have different size options. So depending on how many vegetables you eat and we have different season lengths whether you want to get a box of veggies or our whole 35 weeks of growing, April to mid-December, or if you just want our peak summer season, or just want to try it out for a few weeks. And then we have delivery sites anywhere from Manheim to Shippensburg and everywhere in between, where we will do weekly box deliveries while we're in season that are farmer's choice of what veggies are ripe that week that we want to send out to our members." The customer benefits from the CSA by knowing they have fresh produce that was harvested recently and didn't have to be shipped a long distance. Nolan said there a few benefits for the farmer,"For us the benefit is we get to showcase what we're growing. We get to showcase what other farms are doing too, because we don't grow everything that we put in the CSA. So we will pull in from other farms that we know. They are almost all organic, with the exception of maybe a fruit farm. And then the benefit for us is that we just get a constant stream of revenue all year, because we do run all year with our CSA. You can also put your CSA on hold with ours. And then so we'll see the numbers sort of decrease over the winter time and then pick up during the summertime and fall. And that's just a trend that we deal with. But it's a nice little cash flow that kind of keeps things moving for us." What would you do if God spoke to you directly? God does still speak today through many believers who have the gift of prophecy, but he also wants to give you supernatural revelation to build up others as well! In this episode, Mike joins our hosts again to give an introductory explanation of the charism of prophecy – its varied forms and purposes – while sharing many astounding personal stories of life-changing prophetic words, both given and received. These testimonies from Mike and our hosts should “crowd out the doubt” and convince every listener that God truly loves us and wants to be close to us – to guide, exhort, and encourage us throughout our lives. May the culture of our Church become a prophetic culture once again!
In the face of the world's challenges, we Christians sometimes feel helpless and settle for spiritual maintenance. But the cross of Jesus has obtained much more for us than just spiritual survival. In his life and ministry, Mike Nolan demonstrates that we can unleash the power of God's kingdom all around us, by simply choosing to receive what already belongs to us by divine inheritance. A friend of our hosts, Mike Nolan is a husband and father of seven from South Bend, Indiana. Through his ministry, Shadow on the Water (https://shadowonthewater.com/), Mike heads pilgrimages, an online mentoring community, and many missionary ventures. In his lucid and deeply insightful testimony, Mike shares how he, in his late 40's, changed his approach from striving to be a "good enough" disciple to radically embracing his identity as a son of God and lover of Jesus; and how, by simply being himself with that understanding, Mike has been able to manifest God's glory and power in the context of his ministry.

[00:05:55] Sean details Augur's inception, its focus on a relational database, and its capabilities in data collection and validation. Georg and Sean recall Augur's early days, focusing on GitHub archive data, and its evolution into a comprehensive system. [00:09:28] Yehui discusses OSS Compass, its goals, the integration of metrics models, and the choice of using Grimoire Lab as a backend. He elaborates on OSS Compass's ease of use and the adoption of new data sources like Gitee. [00:14:16] Mike inquires about the handling of the vast number of repositories on Gitee, and Yehui explains using a message bus and RabbitMQ for both data handling and parallel processing. Sean clarifies that Gitee is a Git platform similar to GitHub and GitLab, and OSS Compass is the metrics and modeling tool. [00:15:29] Cali asks about the visualization tool used, and Yehui mentions moving away from Kibana to front-end technologies and libraries like ECharts for creating visualizations, which is an Apache open source project. [00:16:29] Cali describes 8Knot under Project Aspen built in Plotly Dash and Repel, focusing on mapping open source ecosystems using Augur data. She emphasizes the data science approach to analyzing open source communities and the templated nature of 8Knot for easy visualization creation by data scientists. [00:20:19] Sean comments on the ease of adding new visualizations with Dash Plotly technology in 8Knot. Cali adds that new visualizations can be easily made an that 8Knot is connected to a maintained Augur database but can also be forked for specific community and company needs. [00:2342] Georg underlines the importance of ecosystem-level analysis, especially for software supply chain security. Cali shares the goals of analyzing ecosystems to understand relationships between projects, influenced by Red Hat's interests in investing in interconnected communities. [00:26:30] The conversation shifts to Mystic, and Mike describes it as a prototype software integrating both GrimoireLab and Augur, with the goal of better integrating these projects through development. [00:27:30] Mike outlines Mystic's goal to serve as a front-end to date collection systems, with a specific focus on the academic community's contributions to technology research.
