Listen, I know how emotional it can be to buy for your boutique or to create a product YOU love, but it doesn't land with your customers. Rather than pushing a boulder up the hill, its important to take the emotional response out when looking at numbers- it doesn't make sense to take up floor or digital space if its not bringing in that $$$$. The Best Seller Secrets Challenge is awesome for both brands AND boutiques, because it shows you why and how leaning into the things that are already proven -with dollars- are the way to creating more sales and more success. Having taken The Product Boss' Multi-Stream Machine course myself, I can say with certainty that their material is inspirational and actionable- we need both, right? This past week I returned from a road trip to Austin Texas to make a special delivery to my brother and SIL- a dog! Since I do a lot of wholesale business to Texas, I knew that I wanted to create a product inspired by Texas for all of my customers there ( shout out to you!) but I just didn't have the time or mental space to make it happen. Until I spent 40 hours in a car... Its amazing what a road trip can do for ideas and mental space! In this episode I walk through the exact process of coming up with an idea, fleshing it out, mocking it up and finally releasing it. If you're a product maker who wants to emotionally and energetically connect with your DREAM customers and learn to create products with them in mind, you're in luck! My high touch group program kicks off October 1st and is a 6 week program that digs into  meditation to connect with your dream customer, how to take that information and turn it into a product/ label/ package that they say "OH HELL YEAH!" to over and over, and just how to establish your product as a BRAND vs being just a maker. Well, this episode is proof that a lot happens BTS that is not documented, and as someone who values transparency and aligned action, I wanted to give the WHY behind our own shift and allow you to see that pivoting is part of the process. Being that Mercury Retrograde is upon us, this is a great time to slow down and think about what we want. Can we allow it to happen? To evolve on its own? To leap when we feel its time? I say, YES. 2020 has been a sh*t show for most of us, hasn't it? Before the pandemic hit and changed everything for us, I was constantly wrapped up in MAKING the details happen. Worrying over how it would play out, when it would play out, and what exactly -step by step- it would look and feel like. I had no idea I was actively doing this and how stressful it was- it totally bummed out the creative process. But, after coming the realization that my plans for 2020 were now dust, I found myself missing elements of my old life- even RETAIL. I'll never forget telling my husband "Ummmm....so I've been kinda thinking lately that I miss doing retail" and the look of complete shock on his face. This year has been filled with massive, MASSIVE pivots and embracing things that I said I would never do. The weird thing? Those things I said I would never do have brought me so much joy and ease. When I stopped planning and started living, when I stopped saying why something wouldn't work and started thinking of why it would, when I stopped thinking "How will people like this?" and started just creating things that made my heart happy...... things launched in a completely different way. If you've ever seen people hanging from the ceiling from fabric, seemingly defying gravity or marveled at the skillful grace of a trapeze artist or seen someone making gorgeous, bendy shapes inside a hanging metal hoop...well, that my friend is aerial. Chances are you have heard of it by now as aerial arts have been gaining a lot of momentum in popularity. With more people being exposed to this art, the more questions they may have. We dig into how someone like Tera, a serious grad student with no desire to join a traditional gym found herself ditching that life path for one a little less traditional. I'm all about the path less traveled! My love affair with silks began almost 5 years ago when I stepped into Monkey for the first time. It just felt like home. Little did I know at that point that my great great grandpa had actually ran away to join Ringling Brothers and played the drums in the band. No wonder why it felt so right! If you have ever been captivated by the thought of "running away to the circus" but think you're not strong enough, too old, too XYZ, not XYZ enough... this episode is a MUST listen. Aerial arts can be such an empowering way to conquer fears, silence the inner critic, and enjoy the process of learning as an adult, and yes even those who think they can't do it (oh, we talk a lot about mindset, too!). Tera gives a lot of valuable information on how to find an instructor and studio who has your safety as a priority, because let's face it, aerial is cool as heck but it can be dangerous without proper education and equipment. Woohoo! To mark the 1 year anniversary of The Foundry podcast, I am interviewing Michelle Elise of 27 Houses; an interior design studio and retail boutique in the cute downtown of Grayslake, IL. Its the perfect interview for this occasion because Michelle gets down to how she left her full time job, opened her own business from her home, and later opened a studio/ store-front even though she was technically not looking for that at the time- NOT looking before leaping and taking messy, imperfect action always beats taking no action at all. She explains how her approach to business and life is very much "all in" and how there is no room for failure for her. If you have been considering starting a business or are in the beginning stages of one, she gives some excellent tips on how to get your first clients and how important it is to get face to face and network (hint: people like to recommend people they know!). Finally, she explains how design can transform peoples' lives and how her approach to working with clients is never one-size-fits-all, it is a collaborative effort that requires both parties to be open and honest to get the very best results, something that we all can take away even if we are not designers or the client of one! Yes, even in an extrovert loving world. Also, how many fellow introverts are missing out on opportunities to grow themselves and their business because they are better at taking in information via reading vs speaking 1:1? Is that you? Is CBD a Magical Potion or Serious Snake Oil?

Unless you've been hanging out in your hobbit hole, you've probably heard about CBD, the "magical" hemp oil that everyone is talking about.   It seems like for any ailment, CBD is a cure- but, is that really true?   If you've never tried it, but are curious if its right for you, here is my first-hand account with it.   I first experimented with CBD on my dog, Finley, before myself because you know, dogs can't lie. Everyone knows this is #Science.   The results were, well, let's just say this is an episode you will want to listen to.   My favorite CBD is from SOUL; I tried the 1500mg orange flavor and I mixed their bacon flavor with Blooming Culture CBD for Finley.   I heard about Blooming Culture from Live Like Roo Foundation, who gives financial and emotional support to families who are facing a cancer diagnosis with their pet. They are truly lovely people and I encourage you to donate or support them if you can.   So, are you into CBD? Have you tried it?   Let me know your thoughts! What I Learned About Intuition When My Car Was Broken Into

Its been a while, guys!   The reason why I haven't uploaded any new episodes is because my car was broken into and everything important I own was stolen. Major bummer.   BUT... it also taught me about how important my intuition is- even when it told me to take my stuff (which I normally would), there was an underlying push to leave it.   Having my stuff stolen was actually a major blessing in disguise that saved me from experiencing something much worse.   Intuition is not a special gift that some people are born with and other people are not- its simply a tool that everyone has access to. Its as simple as of using and trusting it regularly.   HEY! Boss babe! If you're a creative, soulfully aligned badass and you'd like to hang out with other similar women... what are you waiting for? And if I can do it, I know that you can, too. I know you have this thing inside of you- something so big that it scares the pants off you. I know this because I put out the call to you ...and you answered. I mediate a lot on finding the people that need to hear this, and its no coincidence that you are listening. Its a sign that you are ready. And its scary... But, what if you had the tools to shift your mindset and kick over your hurdles? A gang of girls who had your back the whole way? Would it make you feel a little safer? Safe enough to make a scary leap of faith, telling the universe that this time you're ready...you're super serious. I think it would.
