Our mindset is often times referred to our perception toward things in our life, or “the stories we tell ourselves.” While it may seem subtle and unconscious to many, we do have control over our mindset. The trick is to have enough awareness about your beliefs, and perceptions to know what impact your mindset might be having on the quality of your health.

Every moment of our lives, we're developing our story. The people we meet on a daily basis, and the obstacles we face along the way, all play a part in the story of our lives. As we review these interactions, our internal scenery creates our story. If you want to change your life, you need to write a new story - one that's in greater alignment with your stage of life.
Wellness programs that support staff at being healthy, inside and outside the work environment, help them live balanced lives. Generally speaking, when a hospital can embrace a wellness program that's backed by coaching, mindset training and personal development, the entire work environment and culture grows (see Episode 45). Head over to the show notes here and you can find out more details about how Satori can help your hospital become a leader in health and wellness.
Here's the thing about the profession of nursing, it's amazing. But as amazing as it is, one needs to make positive choices through the day to keep it that way! It's also socially acceptable to not place a high priority on personal satisfaction. All of this is slowly changing, however. Head over to the shownotes where you'll find other relevant articles on mindfulness, health, coaching and mindset training. You can also find-out about our next mantra-style meditation group here.
Nurturing your relationship with food can lead to forming new states of mind and can also improve how you treat food in your life. This can enhance your own relationship with your "self". Having a good relationship with food won't happen instantly. It takes time, intention and reflection.
All too often, we see health care practitioners running from shift-to-shift, just getting through the day. The mindset is to "just get through this next rotation" because those 4-5 days are truly all about work, and getting themselves to and from the hospital. The mindset around work is that it's all-consuming, and they'll breath again a few days after their shifts are over. Mindset coaching for nurse wellbeing brings so many benefits to the hospital. It enhances the health of their nurses, and patients. It also helps nurses be happier. Essentially, health equity for nurses involves reconditioning through coaching and mindset training.

Work-life balance can be a challenging endeavour — especially for health professionals and frontline workers going through the pandemic. Professional burnout is a major global health concern among physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, and the numbers are rising through the pandemic. In this episode I'm giving you 5 Ways to Promote Better Work-Life Balance:
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we've obviously seen a big shift in the degree to which mindfulness is discussed in the media, and in the workplace. This got me thinking...and writing...and now talking. Mindfulness in the workplace supports individuals in managing complex situations. Organizations who do that can support their staff in adapting swiftly to the increasing demands placed on them. If you're interested in learning more about we support your frontline in health and wellness, and retention, head over to the shownotes, or book a call with me to discuss The ProMind Experience in further detail. www.satorihwcoaching.ca
"According to a Public Health Ontario report: "The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted the mental health of the healthcare and public health workforce and adequate supports are essential to protect and improve the public health workforce's mental health and resilience." Head over to the shownotes for more details on how we can support your hospital in post-pandemic personal growth. https://satorihwcoaching.ca/blog/5-reasons-to-support-post-pandemic-personal-growth/
Most hospitals need leaders with strong clinical skills, as well as business/operational skills. To be a really good healthcare leader, whatever stage you're at in the chain of command, you also need people who want to stick with you. To be successful at that, you have to be likeable. You also have to have a keen sense of awareness, and emotional intelligence. There's a high cost to ignoring these three core principles, as a leader.
The decision-making journey is a personal one; no two people start from the same place or have the same wants, needs or goals for their life. With the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating mental health challenges and pushing society towards more inequality with lockdowns and vaccine protocols, the shift towards defining personal control has become even more prominent. The benefits of everyday mindfulness can also support you in your sucess in making decisions. Head over to show notes to access a link to my free 5-day course on peak performance.
Workplace retention is a complex formula. There isn't one specific thing that will make your staff stick with you. When it comes to nursing retention in healthcare, it can be just as complex. To allow your heart to lead means you let your ego fade into the background - and become less judgemental with yourself and with others. Having more empathy in the workplace is reliant on many people, especially on the health care leaders. They are crucial people in the system. Health care leaders make decisions that shape caregiving. Shh. Turn down the noise. Shut off the distractions. Just listen. Do you hear it in the silence? That’s YOUR voice. I believe that the universe is always talking to us, and if we’re paying attention to its messages, we are given the answers. As we move through life, we learn important lessons - many of them, we were supposed to learn. So this inner dialogue, and messages, is a part of life's guidance. You could say it's our own inner wisdom— a part of our soul's path, or that of the higher self.
Satori recognizes that there are 5 key challenges to running effective workplace health programs. These challenges have posed significant barriers for personal development, and should be taken into account before further mental health damage ensues. Instead of allowing COVID-19 to become an excuse, thus placing powerful experiential programs on the back burner, managers could be a driving force in 2021 and taking a powerful approach to staff development. But... you need to know what you're really up against in order to push through some of the staff rebuttals.

It's hart - if not impossible - to succeed at changing your daily habits without creating a goal and a plan. Every successful person is built on a solid foundation of powerful daily habits. Through consistency, you can achieve healthy living. It's been said that 66% of nurses are reporting stress-related burnout, and the same goes for medical doctors, midwives, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Health and wellness coaching helps you change those daily habits and create a plan.

See you at work tomorrow feeling more productive. You think that’s impossible, do you? Well, it’s the best advice I have for you and it doesn’t need to be made into a “mental health day” just because you feel like staying home. About 15 years ago, I was running pretty fast. I was working as a nurse in labor & delivery. I’d just been forced to take a leave of absence from Chiropractic College because I was working too many hours while being in school, and not accomplishing the end goal. That led me down a horrific path, that took me 10 years to recover. When you have stress in your life, it can be daunting to manage it. However, by maintaining a growth-oriented mindset, you learn new ways of thinking and perceiving - and in the end, you learn new strategies. I want you to recognize these 3 key things: We’re not perfect - nobody! Growth is a universal human need that is obtained in many ways. Some grow through hobbies, some through our work or studies, and others in relationships. We are constantly changing and evolving. In this post, I’m concentrating on #3, that we’re constantly in a state of change. The sun's rotation to the earth is constantly changing, which means the tide is changing, and the seasons are changing, and the colours of the leaves on the trees are changing. The amount of light we get daily is changing and it affects our mood. https://satorihwcoaching.ca/blog/dealing-with-stress-in-a-productive-way

Here's the reality, you’ve got years of thoughts, memories, values& beliefsall intertwined into major neuronal connections. A few nights ago, I was enjoying a good read from Napoleon Hill’s Landmark Bestseller-Think and Grow Rich.On page 233, he states “thoughts are truly things, for the reason that every material thing begins in the form of thought-energy”. We cover some of this in Module 1, Lesson 3, of Pro-Mind, on the Mind, The Body & The Brain. We as health professionals are flooded with messagestelling us that we need to be 'taking better care of ourselves', doing more networking, attending more conferences and education events, while simultaneously becoming quasi-celebrities in the community. But... with these 6 Quick & Easy Steps To Change Anything, you can take control and change anything you want about your situation. You just need a little bit of time to contemplate what I'm about to tell you. https://satorihwcoaching.ca/blog/6-quick-easy-steps-to-change-anything
Mindful eating is when you're mindful, and pay close attention, to the feelings happening inside your body that trigger you to eat. And when you are eating, you maintain awareness of the process. But these super duper easy tips are just the tip of the iceberg of what's written about eating with more mindfulness. I think any literature on the topic is better than none. And each tip is of equal importance on its own!!!! Each step can also become a very advanced system for you to kick start your own mindfulness routine, and rock your day from the start. Good question! And the answer will vary depending upon who you speak with. For me, it’s a matter of creating a space (or simplicity) that allows for contentment with whatever your situation or life. I wrote about creating your own meditation space in a prior podcast episode, and today's podcast follows a similar train of thought. Simplicity is all about you, and it happens in 3 stages.
As you may know, I'm a Sociology Graduate with research specialty in Food Politics and The Construction Of Risk In The Media. I enjoy understanding how people learn about risks in society when it comes to their health and wellbeing. I also used to work as a nurse. If you're dealing with issues of feeling sluggish and drained, you might need to consider adding a dietary supplement. On the other hand, you might be struggling with feeling unfulfilled, or unsatisfied with life overall. I address this in episode 27, here.
All bad habits start with a problem, and also being unable to solve that problem in good time. A bad habit simply means you are a slave to a problem that you have no control over. But, with Mindfulness Techniques, and the right style of coaching you can learn to identify some ways to brainstorm, build control, and change. Kick that habit to the curb!! I also reference my 3-part series on managing your fear, Episode 24, 25 and 26, so do have a listen to help you reinforce the strategies for change.
