The cosmetic industry is a multi billion dollar industry!! When the difference in one ingredient can shift the profit margins way up, many companies have chosen the dollar over the health of the consumer. Many of your clients are wearing cosmetics of some sort. On the same page are clients suffering from painful cycles, poor skin issues, or even just not being able to change their bodies in the way they want. The issue is the lack of connection with what goes on the skin and what ends up in the body. Much of your cosmetics may cover up blemishes or make your skin tone more vibrant. But how many of them do that in a way that toxify your liver, gut and lymphatic system? How many of them are sourced from places carefully. While helping the natives of that place? Finding a cosmetic company that is delivering a product that is good for both you and the environment it is creating it from is RARE. Enter Seeb Organics. Bridging ancient alchemy of IRAN, AFRICA MIDDLE EAST with science of modern times. Using technology like ozination and sound frequency to affect the particles in the oil and water in their products. Looking at what is in the soil, as that affects the quality of the products that you put on your skin! What we feed ourselves and our clients does matter. Even clients coming from a place where they barely eat quality protein. Does it matter if they eat wild meats? Is having adequate protein levels enough? Let's dive deeper. There are some definite differences between farmed and wild meats. Wild meats come from animals that are living in an environment more familiar to them. This can range from literally having meat from animals living in the wild. To animals that roam freely and eat food off the land and not in a feed lot. So what are some of the positives for animals living in this kind of environment. Probably the most important is the mental health of the animal. Being able to roam outdoors, easily keeps any animal happier. And we know chronically elevated stress hormone, is not great for the health of any animal. Eating foods that they genetically should be eating yields a happier, healthier animal. So animals in the wild are doing just that. Not eating feeds or foods that are solely there to fatten them up faster. This ends up in a leaner healthier animal. As they usually feel and digest better. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Dr. Pran Yoganathan. On this episode they discuss the benefits of consuming wild meats over farmed ones. As well as how this may help your clients results while helping the world.IG- @dr_pran_yoganathan This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts May 7th 2024Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
In our last episode we spoke about Kambo as a treatment. Also as an interesting support item of our bodies. But in this episode we dive into fungus and how it can show up in our bodies. As well as how do we handle it? What is fungus? Why do we get it? They are eukaryotic organisms ( meaning they cells) that can be yeast, mould or mushrooms. Some forms will leave within us safely. But become an issue when overgrowth happens. Or when they us degrade dangerous synthetic toxins, heavy metals in our bodies. Some we can inhale from our environment. So what are some signs or having fungus? Dry skin and scalp issues, eczema, psoriasis, bloating and bowel issues. As well as consistent weight gain. It can even show up as disrupted sleep at night. But to get fungus to recede, certain things need to happen. Removing some items that feed them or create a breeding ground is key. Like sugars, white potatoes and alcohol. As fungus feeds off of them. As well keeping an eye of wheat, pasteurized dairy, corn, soy and sugar. As these cause inflammation in the gut environment. Which creates an environment for fungus to grow. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Dr. Calvin Ng. On this episode they discuss how to recognize, manage and prevent fungal overgrowth. As well as how to start living intentionally.IG- @drcalvinng This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts November 7th 2023Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
In our last episode we spoke about the lymphatic system. Which is important to understand as its the sewer system of the body. But what are other ways to help clients systems repair? Kambo is an interesting support item of our bodies. In this episode we dive deeper into Kambo and its benefits. What is Kambo? It is the secretion from a frog in the Amazon-giant monkey tree frog or Phyllomedusa bicolor. It contains a lot of beneficial peptides. These peptides have been studied for their therapeutic effects for HIV/AIDS, autoimmune disease, STDS, Hepatitis, Herpes, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Skin and eye issues, Chronic pain relief, Depression, Anxiety, Digestive Issues, Infections, Chronic Fatigue, Migraines and more. Kambo can be helpful for a couple things that coaches are unaware of. Great for reducing chronic inflammation, as well as for treatment of candida and other infections. It is also a potent detoxifier. The neuropeptides are beneficial for calming the nervous system. It can also support treatment of depression, anxiety and migraines. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan interviews his friend, long time previous business partner and now Trauma-informed Medicine Guide/Advanced Kambo Practitioner Bharat Oza. In our last episode we spoke about Heavy Metals and how they affect the growth of microbes like parasites. We touched briefly on the affect on the lymphatic system. In this episode we dive deeper into what the lymphatic system actually is. How it works as well. Understanding the lymphatic system is the missing link in many practitioners tool box. As all organs need drainage for them to properly function. Unlike veins and arteries, lymph does not flow through its vessels because of a heart like pump. We need movement, breathwork and other things to create proper flow of lymph. So what things need to be done to drain the lymphatic system? Which can help with toxin removal, heavy metals and so much more. If our clients have a sluggish lymphatic system, they possibly also have skin issues, constipation, cycle and period issues. Even fat loss and weight issues. So understanding when do this and how, is vital to sustained health and fat loss for your clients. As Coaches, finding solutions to challenges that clients have is really what we do. Knowing where to look or what path to go down is vital in a clients success journey. This also means understanding why microbes like yeast, fungus or parasites won't reduce to an acceptable level. Parasites and other microbes are in all of us. But when they begin to over run our system, we have to ask why? What and how we eat can affect the gut environment. Which will allow parasites to thrive. As well, some of their favorite foods are heavy metals. So if we have them in our system, parasites will love to stay. Which also means parasites can carry a higher concentration of heavy metals in them, than our body is used to having. So what are examples of heavy metals? Mercury, cadmium, fluoride, nickel, copper, lead to name a few. Where can we find them? In items like tap water, birth control, dental work, cosmetics and vaccines. Regular exposure to these items over time will cause a build up in our system. As our body, naturally doesn't know how to remove these items from our system. But what's the big deal with having too many heavy metals in our system? Well they can be amazing hormone disruptors. Affecting the very things that affect our health and fat loss. They can collect in fatty tissues. Which also means fat will need to stay around despite things like exercise. Organs are another place they end up. Which will definitely affect their function. Lastly, as I said, they attract microbes like yeast, parasites and fungus/mold. If our clients are having heavy metal issues. They may also have issues with cellulite, dropping body fat, possibly gall bladder issues, skin issues and even auto immunity challenges. Even higher level concerns like M.S, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Not to mention altered cell structures like our highly important mitochondria. Clients may come to you holding on to old habits of success that may or may not be healthy for them. It's our job as coaches to improve their relationship with food as they heal and transform. Not the opposite. Even though most coaching programs have a time limit. We need to remember that many of the tools clients learn will be with them for life. So teaching them better perspectives and sustainable habits is vital for not just immediate success. But lifetime success. One of the most important things to be aware of are the different seasons that clients go through. If we can remember this, we can also adjust how we coach clients. Which will allow them to stay successful in their journey. Starting a clients fat loss journey properly is vital to their long term success. The most foundational part of fat loss is great sleep. As everything from repair, hormonal balance, mood and fat loss are influenced by deep sleep. Improving sleep can improve a clients energy, hormonal profile, decrease inflammation and rebalance many systems that are offline. So many organs get repaired at night. By improving their function, clients see more sustainable fat loss. As their body works better. Not because it was pushed harder. As a coach, it would be ideal to start by improving sleep hygiene. As poor sleep habits tends to be where sleep issues begin. Working on their habits will allow the big 3 hormones to regulate quicker. Cortisol, insulin and growth hormone are all affected by how well clients sleep. The more these big 3 hormones are in balance, the faster people see results As coaches, knowing if your client is sleeping well is very important. As there can be different issues with why their sleep is poor. They may not fall asleep in 5 minutes or they may wake up multiple times in the night. As more and more coaches move to the online space, learning how to respond to DMs, comments or questions is vital. More importantly, moving clients from a simple question to becoming a client of yours does take some skill. If done incorrectly, your business can slow to a halt. Speaking to clients in the online space isn't too different from on the gym floor. Getting to know them and what they are struggling with or want is step one. This allows you to speak to them appropriately. As well as allow them to get to know you. As a coach, it would be ideal if clients came in, said hello and asked for the payment link to sign up for your program. But if your DMs are busy, you know this is not the case. There is a percentage of clients that are ready to go with their first DM. But most will be inquiring about services and prices. So they will need a some interaction first. Compliance with nutritional plans rarely fail because of the information presented, but usually lies in the coaching around habit and lifestyle changes. If a client has never been on a structured nutritional regimen and are use to choosing food and meals on the go or in the moment, you will need to coach them to success. Most coaches struggle getting clients into their program and out of DM questions because, they are not taking the time to nurture the client and solve the problems presented. As well, their process isn't clear. Which can create more hesitation for the client. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan and Bharat Oza breakdown 4 quick tips that you can implement right away when dealing prospective clients in the online space. How many times have you heard a client complain of feeling bloated? Experiencing a distended, painful abdomen area is highly uncomfortable and can be quite embarrassing for anyone. Most people who struggle with bloating will reach for Tums, Pepto, bubbly drinks, take meds, or just put up with it. We live in a world of fast prescriptions and bandaid solutions, but this doesn't get to the root cause of what's causing the bloating and it will most likely continue to be an issue. Understanding WHY your client feels bloated is most important. Bloating happens when the body is telling us something is wrong. Most likely, they are not processing the foods they are eating. This happens because: Meal timing is off - the body enjoys being on a consistent rhythm and runs on it's own internal clocked called the circadian rhythm. Eating at sporadic times throughout the day or at least not on a consistent schedule will throw the body's natural processes out of alignment. Certain foods disrupt the gut - the most common culprits are the Furious Five: wheat, corn, soy, sugar and dairy. These foods are very inflammatory, and removing them will 100% make a massive difference in healing, repair, and digestive system function. Stomach acid levels are low - the stomach secretes a powerful acidic substance called HCl that must be at a certain low level of pH and high quantity level. If one or both of these factors are missing then food is not properly broken down in the stomach creating strain on the lower digestive processes, most likely resulting in putrification/rotting of food in the lower intestine. Testing your client's stomach acid level is vital to understanding whats going on. Stress is too high - when the body is in fight or flight mode, it cannot be in rest and digest, which is optimal for digestive processes. A busy schedule, always on the go, rushing when eating or just feeling overwhelmed are signs of stress and a strain on the nervous system. Listen into this episode as Ken and Sara break this topic down and give you insight on how to help a client elevate this frustrating symptom. Constantly covering up, or just putting up with the bloating, will cause more issues and symptoms to pop up down the road. Bloating is very common, but it is NOT NORMAL. It's a signal that something is not functioning well. Structuring a clients nutrition can be one of the most impactful things you can do for them, but with that can come some challenges that will require you to coach a client through. Nutritional changes alone can improve a clients energy, increase important nutrient intake, decrease inflammation and rebalance many system that need attention. These nutritional changes can be implement through an exact meal plan that you have designed or structuring macronutrient ratios for a client to follow or even starting with removing inflammatory foods only. As a coach, it would be ideal if you presented a client with nutritional changes and they took the plan and implemented it with ease. If you have done nutritional work with clients, you will know that this just isn't the case with all clients. There is a percentage of clients who are able to take any plan and run with it, but many others will need your support and coaching. Compliance with nutritional plans rarely fail because of the information presented, but usually lies in the coaching around habit and lifestyle changes. If a client has never been on a structured nutritional regimen and are use to choosing food and meals on the go or in the moment, you will need to coach them to success. As a coach, it's important to know how to navigate the various situations you will find yourself in with clients. Progress with any client must be a focus, to ensure you are fulfilled as a coach and the client is satisfied with their investment. The process of transforming a client's body and health has varying degrees of speed and results. Looking at this process in a linear perspective will only set you and the client up for failure. Slowing or a stalling of progress happens and they are absolutely normal on a client's journey. The body is always in motion and processing, so it's vital to understand what is happening with a client's body during these slower phases - there is never nothing going on. In this episode Ken and Sara talk about 5 simple strategies to help you, the coach and the client move past this phase with ease. These strategies are: Make 1 change or adjustment to the clients protocol every 5 days. Changing too many things at once doesn't allow you to have clarity on the client's progress and could end of confusing both of you even more. Refer back to their food log. Checking in on a client's dietary choices can give insight to poor meal timing, food choices or portions. Don't blame yourself. Coming down hard on yourself does nothing to shift the direction of your client's progress. Focus on what you can do now and refer back to the check ins, data and tracking that you have been doing together to identify problems. Create a conversation with the client about the various transformation phases and rate of progression. Have them understand that change doesn't happen over night and it's normal to have periods of fast vs slower rates of progress. Ensure the client is being consistent with every aspect of their protocol. Even the smallest deviation of actions or behaviours can change the trajectory of the results they are after. Listen into episode #19 of The Stress Reduced-Fat Loss™ Podcast as Ken and Sara unpack these 5 points to help you shift more clients out of a place of stagnation or stalled progression. Does this sound familiar: Your client is training hard and seems to be following their meal plan pretty well.... but they have a tire of fat around the belly that won't seem to budge. This client always comes in with a coffee, has a stressful job, kids, and often talks about feeling tired. It's time to take a look at their sleep habits. Sleep is probably the most overlooked aspect when it comes to trainers and their clients. But it plays an ENORMOUSLY critical role when it comes to health and the ability to lose weight and lose fat. If your client feels tired, but their mind won't turn off, they are most likely GABA deficient. 9 times out of 10, when a client struggles to fall asleep at night - they are GABA deficient. GABA is a neurotransmitter naturally produced by our bodies, and it's responsibility is sending calming messages from the brain to the nervous system. Again... we can't stress this enough ... FAT LOSS WILL NOT HAPPEN until your client is getting consistent, quality sleeps. This means falling asleep quickly (ideally much before 11pm) and staying asleep all night long. Some things that you can start recommending to help improve sleep: • no caffeine / stimulant drinks after 1 pm (caffeine can stay in the body longer than 6 hours) • turning off electronics an hour before bed and getting them out of the bedroom • implement a consistent wind-down routine that helps with your brain's “it's time to calm down” signalling. A consistent bed time hour and routine, as well as a consistent wake up time, will help. • recommend 2 or 3 magnesium; 2 during dinner and 1 with tea or small snack around 7 pm (this may have to be adjusted).• finish the last meal/snack before 7:30 We teach our Transformation Mentorship students how to assess for GABA, as well as other neurotransmitters and hormones that have key affects on health and fat loss. The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ System was created by Ken Sylvan and Bharat Oza after years of education and working with clients to optimize health and fat loss. In 2019 the system was turned into a certification for trainers and nutritionists. A Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner looks at the body as a whole, understands it's interconnectedness and assesses a client by gaining data through: An initial questionnaire to get a general snap shot of the clients history and health A digestive intake to assess 7 areas of the digestive track and it's processes A stomach acid test to analyze how well the client is breaking down food A primal pattern questionnaire to determine the client's ideal macronutrient ratio for their genetic make-up A neurotransmitter test to determine brain health A metabolism test looking at body temperature and iodine absorption Body composition assessment through photos to determine hormonal disruptions through body fat placement. After gaining all of this data a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner then uses a variety of protocols focusing on nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle changes and movement. The Transformation Mentorship teaches health, fitness and wellness professionals how to do this in-depth assessment, the proper protocols for rebalancing the body based on the assessment and how to be an elite coach. You will receive the education and protocols needed to be a practitioner You will go through a transformation yourself using the assessment phase and protocols You will receive mentorship with 2 case study clients (min) using the system Our next cohort starts: February 28th, 2022 If increasing your skills set as a professional is a goal for you in 2021 you can find more details on The Transformation Mentorship and the Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner certification at www.TransformationMentorship.ca This episode is hosted by Bharat Oza & Sara Fennell Keep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts February 28th, 2022Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
Getting healthy or losing weight can seem complicated when a client is dealing with many unwanted symptoms. We always recommend that our students focus on foundational and essential action steps before creating any complex protocols. In this episode Joe and Sara talk about 3 essential and very under-looked techniques to boost your clients health:Breathing before mealsRemove water from meals and only drink between mealsChewing food properly Simple right? But how many of your clients know how to properly prime their digestion while eating. Digestive issues are most prevalent in people who struggle to feel good and lose weight. Optimize digestion and you will start to bring homeostasis back to the body. Water quality is probably the most underrated key to fat loss and optimal health. If you or your client is not drinking filtered, high quality water, their liver will continue to be backed up, skin issues will continue, and their bowels will slow. This happens because without filtering tap water you could be ingesting discarded birth control and other medications, rotting food particles, bacteria, plastics, chemicals from bathroom products, and so many other toxins found in community tap water. Suggest a good quality filter (not Brita). A Santevia pitcher or Berkey are great options. Alkalinity and added minerals are important qualities in choosing a water filter. Calories in & calories out is a secondary thought when it comes to losing body fat, especially on the lower half of the body for women. Chemical load and detoxification of estrogen should be the primary conversation. In this episode Bharat & Sara discuss the chemical industry & it's evolution into most of our food, household & beauty products. When it comes to lower body fat, especially around the hips and thighs of a woman it's important to understand that the hormone estrogen is primarily responsible for this site. If it appears that a woman is struggling to lose body fat in their lower half we must look at 2 things: estrogen dominance from natural production or most likely these from synthetic chemicals, along with estrogen detoxification from the body. Join Bharat & Sara in this episode to help you understand how synthetic chemicals from every day products and food result in a backed up detoxification system and the body storing chemicals in fat cells. Macronutrient ratios of carbs, fats & proteins has been a huge topic of conversation within the weight loss industry over the past decade & rightfully so. They also have their place in holistic transformations but not in the common way, from a calorie perspective. When looking at a client's health goals from a holistic perspective we must consider genetic lineage and a concept called Primal Pattern Typing. In this episode Bharat & Sara discuss the immigration patterns of North Americans & the disruption of cultural macronutrient ratios. This disruption has led to a society eating in ways that their genetic make up may or may not handle well. Any disruption in the bodies natural processes results in STRESS; a state of fight or flight. When the body operates in this state for a prolonged period of time, health declines, weight loss is difficult and ultimately a persons vitality will diminish. In this episode Ken & Sara talk about the importance of having meat in a diet but also when there can be symptoms the body is expressing, telling us not to eat meat. There is rarely a black and white answer to anything when it comes to the individual bodies that we have and all the variables happening to each of us on any given day. Our role as coaches is to gather as much information as possible about a client and their symptoms, in order to make the best decision.
