Dr. Pran Yoganathan is a medical doctor with over 20 years of experience. He is a Gastroenterologist, which is the specialty concerned with the human gastrointestinal tract, more colloquially called “the gut”. Two decades, as a doctor, standing in the eye of this “maelstrom of disease”. The sands of time are passing through the hourglass of reality. Modern medicine is seeing this tsunami of illness with the narrow lenses of a “moment in time”, a mere snapshot. This view leads to a “reactive approach” to healthcare. Fundamental solutions to disease are overlooked in the pursuit of polished new instruments to remedy disease. The proverbial shiny new scalpel to cut at the wound, with no reverence given to the talons, fangs & claws that inflicted the gash in the first place. Dr Yoganathan believes many healers are awakening, in the traditions of medicine men before us, they dare to challenge the paradigms. But to do so is the tale of David & Goliath. Defiance, armed with a mere stone & sling, against a leviathan that looms large. He aims to explore the challenges that healthcare faces in this article. He aims for the reader to grasp the link between food systems & human diseases. In this episode, we discover the following: Why the first brain is actually in the gut.Why Pran's philosophy is “Food as Medicine”.How gut health and mental health connect. The root causes of the increase in disease we are faced with. What we feed ourselves and our clients does matter. Even clients coming from a place where they barely eat quality protein. Does it matter if they eat wild meats? Is having adequate protein levels enough? Let's dive deeper. There are some definite differences between farmed and wild meats. Wild meats come from animals that are living in an environment more familiar to them. This can range from literally having meat from animals living in the wild. To animals that roam freely and eat food off the land and not in a feed lot. So what are some of the positives for animals living in this kind of environment. Probably the most important is the mental health of the animal. Being able to roam outdoors, easily keeps any animal happier. And we know chronically elevated stress hormone, is not great for the health of any animal. Eating foods that they genetically should be eating yields a happier, healthier animal. So animals in the wild are doing just that. Not eating feeds or foods that are solely there to fatten them up faster. This ends up in a leaner healthier animal. As they usually feel and digest better. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Dr. Pran Yoganathan. On this episode they discuss the benefits of consuming wild meats over farmed ones. As well as how this may help your clients results while helping the world.IG- @dr_pran_yoganathan This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts May 7th 2024Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/

Understanding that current discourse around gut health, optimal diet and wellness is a complex, and confusing space, Dr. Pran Yoganathan focusses on simplifying dietary guidance to focus on the intake of dietary protein and fats, while working with individual patients to lower metabolic risk and imbalances. Dr. Pran and Dr. Michelle discuss the benefits of referring to our ancestral diet and lifestyle practices to simplify our own diets in a world when we are overwhelmed with conflicting dietary advice. Importantly, Dr. Pran focuses on the need to tailor dietary advice to the individual, based on their health status rather than their microbiome to ensure that they are able to get the best from the foods that they are eating and prevent disease. Welcome to Episode 27 of Quirky Cooking Chats (Season 2), with Jo Whitton: The Meat Question - Dr Pran Yoganathan {Watch this podcast video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/7d9Qo8E2rVk} To eat meat, or not to eat meat? This seems to be THE question right now. In this episode, Jo invites Dr Pran Yoganathan onto the show to share his thoughts on the meat question. Dr Pran is a gastroenterologist and founder of The Centre for Gastroenterology in Sydney. His aim is to empower his patients to embark on a journey of self-healing using the philosophy of “let food be thy medicine”. Dr Pran has a strong interest in the field of human nutrition. He practices an approach to healthcare that assesses the lifestyle of the patient to see how it impacts on their gastrointestinal and metabolic health. He believes that the current nutritional guidelines may not be based on perfect evidence and he passionately strives to provide the most up to date literature in healthcare and science to provide “Evidence-Based Medicine”. Dr Pran has a special interest in conditions such as Gastro-oesophageal Reflux (GORD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and abdominal bloating. He takes a very thorough approach to resolve these issues using dietary manipulation in conjunction with an accredited, highly qualified dietician, rather than resorting to long-term medications. Dr Pran and Jo discuss: the root causes of poor intestinal health healing with food is meat good for your health? how much meat should we eat? does red meat cause cancer? should we be eating animal fats? do ruminant animals cause climate change? regenerative farming vs monocropping and ‘factory farming' how glyphosate is damaging our gut health how to support the health of the environment while eating a traditional diet that includes animal products how to support healthy farms & food systems in your area An important takeaway from this interview is to be curious, educate yourself, dig deeper and know where your food is coming from and how it is produced - whether it's animal-based or plant-based. Importantly, Dr. Pran focuses on the need to tailor dietary advice to the individual, based on their health status rather than their microbiome to ensure that they are able to get the best from the foods that they are eating and prevent disease. In this 3rd episode of The Kurang Manis Podcast, we meet Dr. Pran Yoganathan, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist based in Sydney. A passionate educator, a Mathematician-turned doctor who has lived in Sri Lanka, Africa, New Zealand and Australia, Dr. Pran wants to put the power in his patients' hands and provide them with data so that they can embark on their own journeys of self-healing using the philosophy of “let food be thy medicine”. Harnessing creative technology and 14,400 followers on Instagram @dr_pran_yoganathan, he stresses that his educational memes are not medical advice or recommendations, simply his opinions -- and rather strong science-backed opinions they are too! Find out why Dr. Pran's diet of choice - grass-fed steak and eggs has raised eyebrows and temperatures not just in the oven, but in conversation with peers as well. Ask him about butyrate and you'll get him all fired up and excited! Now, are WE ready to absorb the fact that we're meant to burn fat for energy and not glycogen? Let's save that for perhaps another episode. Joining co-hosts Jasmine Low and Nikki Yeo in this same episode are Dr. Desmond Menon, medical lab scientist featured in Ep. 2 Do Our Genes Predispose us to Diseases of our Parents and Malaysia's "biggest" stand-up comedian Papi Zak. ******* More about Dr. Pran Yoganathan ******* Graduating from medicine from the University of Otago in New Zealand, Dr. Pran is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physician (FRACP) and a member of Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). He has accredited expertise in Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Colonoscopy as certified by the Conjoint Committee for the recognition of training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Pran works in the public and private sectors in Greater Sydney and has a strong interest in the field of human nutrition. He practices an approach to healthcare that assesses the lifestyle of the patient to see how it impacts on their gastrointestinal and metabolic health. Dr. Pran believes that the current day nutritional guidelines may not be based on perfect evidence and he passionately strives to provide the most up to date literature in healthcare and science to provide “Evidence-Based Medicine”. He is a strong motivator and aims to empower his patients to embark on a journey of self-healing using the philosophy of “let food be thy medicine”. Dr. Pran has a special interest in conditions such as Gastro-oesophageal Reflux (GORD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and abdominal bloating. He takes a very thorough approach to resolve these issues using dietary manipulation In conjunction with an accredited highly qualified dietician rather than resort to long-term medications. ******* We hope you've enjoyed these bite-sized pieces of information.
