    Ivy Insights

The Municipal Arborist podcast is an absolute gem for anyone interested in the world of arboriculture, particularly those involved in urban forestry. As a city arborist myself, I was thrilled to stumble upon this show and have since become a dedicated listener. Hosted by Joe Shaw, each episode provides a fascinating glimpse into the daily life and experiences of a City Forester, featuring insightful interviews with industry experts and professionals who share their wealth of knowledge.

One of the best aspects of The Municipal Arborist podcast is the quality and variety of guests that Joe brings on to the show. From experienced City Foresters to certified arborists, tree care specialists, and researchers, each episode offers unique perspectives and valuable insights. The guests are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also excellent storytellers, making for engaging and informative conversations. Whether discussing innovative tree maintenance techniques, sharing personal experiences dealing with difficult situations, or delving into the latest research in urban forestry, every episode is filled with captivating content that leaves listeners wanting more.

Another standout aspect of this podcast is Joe's ability to bring his own expertise and personal anecdotes to the table. As a seasoned City Forester himself, he offers practical advice and relatable experiences that resonate with fellow professionals in the field. This adds an authentic touch to the episodes and creates a sense of camaraderie among listeners who can relate to the joys and challenges of being an arborist in an urban setting.

While it's challenging to find any drawbacks to such an exceptional podcast, one minor criticism could be that some episodes may delve too deeply into technical aspects. While this may not be an issue for professionals or avid enthusiasts in the field, it might occasionally go over the heads of those looking for more general information or beginner-level insights. However, this is merely a minor complaint in what is otherwise an outstanding podcast that caters well to its target audience.

In conclusion, The Municipal Arborist podcast is an absolute must-listen for anyone interested in the world of arboriculture, urban forestry, or simply passionate about trees and their care. Joe Shaw's engaging narration, combined with the wealth of knowledge shared by his guests, creates a captivating listening experience that leaves listeners eagerly anticipating each new episode. Whether you're a city arborist, an aspiring certified arborist preparing for an exam, or someone who simply appreciates the beauty and importance of trees in our urban environment, this podcast is sure to educate, entertain, and inspire.

After migrating to Oregon in 96', it became obvious he landed on a much bigger island than he grew up on, with more forests, wildlife, and people. It was here Dylan found his calling to share his love of nature with everyone through Arboriculture.  He worked with a local tree company as a "branch manager", and literally learned the ropes of aerial access in trees.  10 years went by, worked with several premium tree care providers, career volunteer with multiple green industry nonprofits, and became a municipal Arborist with the City of Portland.  It was in this role he utilized all his career experiences to reach an entire city of tree-centric communities!  Dylan spent years volunteering with the PNW-ISA regional chapter as a judge for the regional climbing competitions, as the Editor of the Chapter publication, speaker and presenter at multiple Annual conferences, and co-founder of the PNW Tree Failure Database with Chris Rippey and Jonathan Pywell. Dylan has now been in the industry for over 20 years, and still sharing the ALOHA he was gifted long ago.  He enjoys spending time with his son Ronin and daughter Hana, and teaching them the same connection with our planet.  _______________________________________________________________________Patreon: http://patreon.com/TheMunicipalArboristInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_municipal_arborist/Questions or comments?themunicipalarborist@gmail.comThank you to our sponsors:Davey Resource GroupArbsessionWinkler Tree & Lawn Care
