Genesis 16 recounts the story of Hagar, Sarah, and Abraham, uncovering profound truths about suffering and God's care for us. Through Hagar's experience, we learn that even in our darkest moments, God sees and hears us. The phrase 'El Roi' - the God who sees me - becomes a beacon of hope, showing that no matter our circumstances, the Creator of the universe cares deeply for each of us. This message challenges us to trust in God's larger plan, even when we can't understand our current suffering. It encourages us to find strength in knowing that our pain has a purpose, just as Hagar's trials led to the fulfillment of God's promise for her son Ishmael.
Register your feedback here. Always good to hear from you!I hope I both give and receive the gift of laughter this holiday season. It really is the best medicine in a sick, sick world. But not all laughs are created equal. This week we'll cover the pros and cons of the most famous laughing fit in the Bible; the jokes preachers tell and why they tell them; the balance we strike between flexibility and inauthenticity, complete with examples; and a game I won't play specifically because it will make you laugh.Check out Hal on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@halhammons9705Hal Hammons serves as preacher and shepherd for the Lakewoods Drive church of Christ in Georgetown, Texas. The ministry of angels appears during the formation of the nation of Israel and all throughout the Bible. Angels still help us today. We might not see them but they are here.
Sometimes it's hard to wait on the Lord when it seems as if His promises are taking forever to fulfill, but hold on to the promises of God even when you're in pain and sorrow, and God will bring you laughter in the end. Proverbs 17:22 says “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Laughter is an expression of happiness. It's time to laugh a little.
“Sarah, too, had faith, and because of this she was able to become a mother in spite of her old age, for she realized that God, who gave her his promise, would certainly do what he said. And so a whole nation came from Abraham, who was too old to have even one child—a nation with… Read More »Abraham and Sarah: A Waiting Story

There is Room for You at God's Table Genesis 13-25
In this episode, Abraham and Sarah have to go to Egypt because Canaan has been afflicted by a famine. When they get there, Abraham urges Sarah to tell everyone that she is his sister rather than his wife. He was worried that the Egyptians would kill him to get to her. Sure enough, Sarah was whisked off to Pharaoh's house. At that point, the Lord afflicted Egypt with plagues. An irate Pharaoh demands that Abraham take his wife and leave immediately. In the meantime, Abraham is greatly enriched because of all the presents that the Egyptians had given him.

The details of God's plan tend to go against human nature and understanding. It's okay to make plans but we must live by faith. How can we align our plans with God's?

Lisa and I discuss our ministry to the discarded. I remind us that the climate change alarmists are knowing liars seeking control, explain why the story of Abraham buying Sarah's burial plot is in the Bible, remember how almost all fruit once had seeds and answer the question, is Christianity a religion or a relationship?
This daf is the (or a) talmudic source for several of prominent midrashim about the patriarch Abraham and matriarch Sarah. Also, back to halakhah - dealing with the harvest. Plus, special terms for harvesting from a vineyard, and how they extend to other crops and produce that grow from the ground.
In this sermon, we explored Hebrews 11:8-16, where Abraham's journey of faith displays his unwavering trust in God's promises. Despite not seeing the fulfillment in his lifetime, Abraham looked forward with faith, persevering through trials because his eyes were set on a heavenly city. This eternal perspective not only guided his steps but also offers us a powerful example of enduring faith, reminding us that our ultimate home and reward lie beyond this world.
Thank you for joining us today for worship! Pastor Bob leads us in a study of Hebrews 11:8-12 where we look at faith in the life of Abraham and Sarah.
Abraham and Sarah Lied And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. 4But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
