Send us Fan MailIn this second episode of our series on living life fully embodied, we talk about what it feels like to move through life physically present but emotionally and spiritually disconnected. We share how disembodiment can quietly shape everyday life through ignoring hunger and exhaustion, numbing with screens or food, staying constantly busy, and treating “pushing through” like a virtue. We explore the reality that numbness never stays contained to pain alone. When we disconnect from hurt, we often lose connection to joy, peace, and meaningful relationships too. At the same time, we recognize that many of these patterns began as survival during overwhelming seasons, chronic stress, loneliness, or environments where slowing down did not feel safe.We ground the conversation in Scripture and the example of Jesus, reflecting on the biblical call to wake up, walk wisely, guard our hearts, and bring our burdens honestly to Christ instead of carrying them alone. We also discuss the difference between conviction and condemnation, and how striving, self-reliance, and constant performance can slowly dull our awareness of the Holy Spirit's leading. Throughout the episode, we encourage listeners to begin noticing what is happening beneath the surface without shame or fear. Awareness is not the end goal. It is the beginning of living more fully connected to God, to others, and to the body He has entrusted to us.Subscribe, share this with a friend who feels numb, and leave a review. Send us Fan MailIn this first episode of our four-part series on living embodied, we explore what it means to stop disconnecting from our bodies and start living with honesty before God. We share how many of us learned to survive hard seasons by numbing out, pretending we're okay, and pushing through pain until disconnection became normal. From our perspective, embodiment is not about self-obsession or chasing trends. It's about integrity, stewardship, and being truthful about what's happening inside us. We ground the conversation in Scripture, looking at God breathing life into humanity in Genesis 2:7, the call to honor God with our bodies, and the reality of Jesus coming in the flesh. We also reflect on Elijah's collapse in 1 Kings 19 and how God responded first with rest and nourishment before correction or instruction. That moment reshaped the way we think about burnout, healing, and the connection between body and spirit. We end by focusing on the resurrection of Jesus, reminding ourselves that He still carried a physical body, invited people to touch His wounds, and even ate with His disciples. That truth challenges the temptation to escape our limits or disconnect from ourselves. We leave listeners with one gentle question to begin practicing awareness without shame: “What is happening in my body right now?” because awareness is often the first step toward healing and change.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, we wrestle with a question many of us quietly carry: what if the harsh voice in our head isn't the Holy Spirit at all? Together we explore how easily shame can masquerade as conviction and how that confusion fuels anxiety, diet spirals, and distance from God. Through honest stories—stepping away from worship leading because of body shame and freezing on camera in a classroom video—we reflect on how accusation can disguise itself as holiness. Anchoring the conversation in Romans 8:1, we remind ourselves that there is no condemnation in Christ, and that truth reshapes how we hear God's voice. We also share a simple framework rooted in Scripture and practical awareness of how our bodies respond to inner messages. Looking at John 14:26, Romans 8, and John 8, we talk about how the Spirit teaches, reminds, and intercedes, while Jesus removes condemnation before inviting change. We walk through five questions we use to test any inner message—whether it aligns with Scripture, targets identity or behavior, draws us toward or away from God, carries hope, and brings peace to the body or agitation. Along the way, we practice slowing down, breathing, and picturing Jesus beside us as we remember that we are adopted, not enslaved to fear. If you've ever wondered whether your “motivation” is actually misery, this conversation offers clarity and a gentler path back to joy.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

Together, they unpack what Scripture means when it calls us to take every thought captive, and how intentionally replacing lies with truth can lead to real transformation. If you're familiar with Patricia's book Twelve Inches, you'll recognize this theme immediately: the gap between what we know about God and how we feel and live it out. In this episode, I sit down with neurosurgeon and author Dr. Lee Warren to talk about how our thoughts shape our brains and, over time, our lives. Lee draws from neuroscience, Scripture, and his own story, serving as an Army surgeon, living with PTSD, and walking through the loss of a child, to help make sense of why so many of us feel stuck in anxiety, fear, or reactivity. We talk about what Lee calls “self-brain surgery,” the practice of learning to think about our thoughts instead of being ruled by them. We explore the difference between the mind and the brain, why most of our daily thoughts aren't actually true, how trauma rewires us, and how healing can too. We also talk about gratitude, attention, habits, and spiritual warfare and why slowing down and responding with intention matters more than trying to fix everything at once. This conversation is about building resilience, telling the truth about what's happening inside us, and finding a more hopeful way forward. W. Lee Warren, MD, is a neurosurgeon, an award-winning author, an Iraq War veteran, and the host of The Dr. Lee Warren Podcast. Together, they address how deeply diet culture has shaped women's relationship with their bodies - and how easily worth gets tangled up with the number on the scale, clothing size, and shifting cultural "ideals." From Carla's nervous-system lens, they explore how things like under-eating, blood sugar swings, too much caffeine, poor sleep, and inactivity can shrink our window of tolerance - making emotional regulation harder than it needs to be. Amy offers practical guidance for balanced nutrition (without labeling foods "good" or "bad"), and explains why "fitness snacking" and small, consistent movement can be more beneficial - and more sustainable - than all-or-nothing workouts. In this bonus episode of Affirming Truths, Carla Arges interviews Rooted & Resilient graduate Olivia, who shares what it looked like to walk through a "pit of depression" while trying to keep functioning in everyday life. Olivia describes months-long dips in mood, relentless negative thoughts about herself, and a deep sense of hopelessness - even though she'd grown up in the church and knew, in her head, that God offers hope. Searching for support that combined neuroscience and Christianity, Olivia found Carla's podcast and joined Rooted & Resilient. She opens up about how overwhelm and executive dysfunction (including ADHD traits) fueled avoidance patterns like doomscrolling and made her feel like she just needed "more discipline." But through the program, she learned the difference between willpower and executive dysfunction - and discovered a grace-filled, sustainable way forward. By the end of the 12 weeks, Olivia's life looked completely different: waking up earlier with intention, daily Bible time and journaling, movement and stretching, cooking meals regularly, and - most noticeably - doomscrolling "naturally" falling away as her nervous system and mind became more regulated. This conversation is a hopeful reminder that transformation often comes through small, consistent practices, not perfection. In this special testimony episode of Affirming Truths, Carla Arges sits down with Rooted & Resilient graduate Ivanka to talk about what changed for her over 12 weeks of Christ-centered healing. Ivanka shares how a major breakup and years of mental health struggles left her stuck in fight-or-flight - exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure what to do next. Through the program, one message became a turning point: healing isn't the absence of pain - it's the presence of truth. Ivanka describes how rooted identity in Christ (Galatians 4:4–7) reshaped the way she understood her thoughts, emotions, and choices. Instead of being ruled by how she felt, she learned to acknowledge her emotions without letting them take the driver's seat - choosing truth, renewing her mind (Romans 12:2), and building steady, sustainable practices that supported her whole person. If you've ever wondered whether healing is possible when life is still hard, this episode will remind you: you can be in a storm and still be deeply grounded - because your foundation is Christ. What happens when trauma, mental illness, or burnout make you feel like your purpose has been taken from you? In this bonus episode of Affirming Truths, Carla sits down with Christian mental health therapist, podcaster, and mom Jazmin Ruiz for a deeply grounding conversation about purpose - not as productivity, performance, or career, but as relationship. Together, they explore why so many women feel aimless even when they're "doing all the right things," how trauma fuels control and self-reliance, and why Scripture calls us back to being with God before doing anything for Him. Jazmin shares both clinical insight and personal testimony, helping listeners redefine purpose through a biblical lens rooted in safety, security, and intimacy with the Lord. If you've ever wondered whether your pain disqualified you from God's plans - or felt lost in the fog of uncertainty - this episode will gently remind you that your purpose was never tied to what you produce, but to who you belong to. Jazmin Ruiz is a Christian Mindset and Business Coach who helps women break free from limiting beliefs, embrace their true identity in Christ, and build lives and businesses that honor God. She equips women to replace mental blocks with biblical truth, establish systems that create freedom, and step boldly into their God-given calling. She is the creator of the I Am Identity Journal and is the host of the Building Her Up podcast, where she incorporates biblical principles to guide women closer to God while building their businesses.
